not sure but I found one paragraph thru google about dacron wool........being used on a patient:

Once cooling to -79 C was complete the patient was lifted out of the Silcool bath, the outer, Silcool wetted plastic bag was stripped off and the patient was placed within a polyester cloth bag which was in turn placed inside a standard aluminum neurocan which had been precooled to -90  and packed with dacron
wool.  Temperature probes were left externalized to the neurocan for subsequent cooling to -196 C.

I don't really think this is going to help you though but I tried!!

Try googling H1c, lots of hits  from (apparently) patients.  Also, wondered if slurring could make "an A1c" sound like your HUNC ? Also found at least one reference to histoplasmosis marker of H1C.

Pain scale in leukemia patients
Subject: Pain scale in leukemia patients

Hi,

Is there a pain scale that is commonly referred to for leukemia patients? I'm doing a clinic note on a patient, and in the PE section, I hear something that sounds like ecot 0 (zero). The first thing that pops into my head is Ficat, but I don't think that's what it would be. I often hear doctors mention the pain scale rating right along with the vital signs, and that's where this is dictated. I'm googling and researching this, but I'm not even sure where to look. Any suggestions?

Subject: That could be. I know that some docs make patients sign care contracts. sm

Compliance promise could very well be. Perhaps the patient had been noncompliant with his CPAP and the doc threatened him with something like being hospitalize, dying, etc.

A lot of PCPs make their drug-seeking patients sign what is called a Care Plan. It takes care of the "frequent flyers" to different docs and ED's. They are tailored to each patient. Perhaps Jane Doe can only get 4 pain shots a month. If she uses them all up in a week, then too bad, so sad. She will just have to tough it out. They are on file with all the hospitls here in case the frequent flying drug-seekers trh to hit different emergency departments, etc.

ILC procedure? Any of these?
Subject: ILC procedure? Any of these?

  • Transurethral Microwave Thermotherapy (TUMT). Microwave energy delivers temperatures above 45 degrees C (113 F) to the prostate by way of an antenna positioned in the prostate using a special catheter (tube). Another catheter is used to circulate coolant around the urethra, which helps keep you reasonably comfortable throughout the procedure. The entire procedure is computer-controlled, based on temperature recordings obtained in the urethra and rectum. This technique is performed in your doctor's office and takes approximately 90 minutes. Patients are generally given medicine to prevent pain and relieve anxiety. The most common complaints during the treatment are an urge to urinate and a burning sensation in the penis. There are two programs: "standard treatment" or "high-energy" treatment. High-energy treatment delivers more energy to the prostate, which generally provides better results and improved flow, but patients are likely to have more side effects in the recovery period.
  • Interstitial Laser Coagulation. ILC uses a specially designed laser fiber to deliver heat to the interior of the prostate. The laser fiber is inserted into the prostate using instruments placed in the urethra. The procedure is usually done in the operating room, under anesthesia to numb the pain but not put you to sleep. This technique allows the surgeon to view the prostate directly and to treat specific areas of enlargement.
  • Transurethral Needle Ablation (TUNA): This technique uses low-level radiofrequency energy delivered through two needles to ablate, or burn away, an area of the enlarged prostate.
  • Balloon Dilation. A catheter with a balloon at the tip is inserted through the urethra. The balloon is inflated, which stretches the urethra where it has become narrowed by the enlarged prostate.
  • Transurethral Electrovaporization. This technique uses electrical energy applied through an electrode to rapidly heat prostate tissue, turning the tissue cells into steam. This allows the doctor to vaporize an area of the enlarged tissue and relieve urinary obstruction.
  • Intraurethral Stents. Stents (wire devices shaped like springs or coils) are placed within the prostate channel (where the urethra runs through the gland) to help keep the channel from tightening around the urethra.

I'm nearing the end of a delivery note, and the doc is talking about the part where the clots and debris are removed from the uterine cavity using a s/l cruday procedure.  I KNOW I should know this, but I can't find it in the deep recesses of my brain right now or in any of my research efforts.  I believe this word is French, or least it sounds like it is, so I tried croude or something like that to no avail.  Am I close?
