some kind of mastectomy...

Subject: some kind of mastectomy...

"Overall, the patient is doing fairly well, but she is a little bit overwhelmed by the fact that she had residual cancer at the time of her lumpectomy and _____ mastectomy."

It sounds like either "her cardiomastectomy" or "recardid mastectomy"...neither one makes sense though! lol.

Any thoughts??? Thanks!

I have a new oncology account.  All the docs say bilateral mastectomy. Shouldn't this be bilateral mastectomies?
Mastectomy
Subject: Mastectomy

OPERATION/PROCEDURE(S) PERFORMED:

1.  Right simple mastectomy, sentinel lymph node dissection.

2.  Left prophylactic mastectomy.

3.  Immediate bilateral reconstruction with ??_________ s/l tissue exspanish, which is so weird. It's definitely not expanders or expansion so i'm totally lost.

Only one mastectomy is being performed each on the right and left side. The same thing for bilateral tubal ligation, you would not put bilateral tubal ligations. If a person had four breasts and two were being removed from each side, then it would be bilateral mastectomies!

Subject: Yes, bilateral mastectomy. see inside

In medicine, mastectomy is the medical term for the surgical removal of one or both breasts, partially or completely.

Bilateral means both and mastectomy is one or two. Do not need mastectomies even though the doc is saying it.

After, reading your post this morning. I finally figured out what the first blank was it is "this is used to elevate the left lobe of the liver away from the anterior wall of the stomach" It was left lobe. I was able to correct this and now am sending it in. It was not a stat.

It sounds like the doc is saying "heel" test.

I tried googling "heel" tests or "heal" tests and everything in between. Any ideas?
