Serving Over 20,000 US Medical Transcriptionists

Also I was told there is a 20 hour per week requirement (sm)

along with the 4,000 line. I have been an IC with this company since 1998 and just found this out about a week ago. Nothing in anything I actually signed, they were just "letting me know" to maintain my status this was the requirement.

As above, each office is different although I think they are trying to get more uniform across the board.

This week I was told $11.25 an hour

I'd be editing VR all day though as she sends her standard transcription off to some MTSO.  I forgot to ask which.  Those wages are not bad really for this part, but nothing to scream about.  I was making $14 an hour at the in-house hospital job and the peak there was $17.50.   The bens are wonderful, $150 for family and that includes dental, vision.  We also get a 401k.

But just from the interview, we only get yearly raises.  She doesn't do merit increases.  There are no quarterly QA audits.  Her standards are low, 1100 lines per day for editing.  She told me I was at the top of her list to hire but she is still interviewing.  I took it as she was looking for someone who would work cheaper.

One-weekend day per week requirement...

I presently work for a company that requires one week-end day every week.  I've been browsing through the job list on MT Daily and all of them so far also require one weeke-end day per week . Why is this?  It's kind of a depressing thought to think the rest of your work days on this earth will include one weekend day.  Can't they just find people who want to  work weekends only and pay them a differential?  I know there are times in my life when just working weekends would have worked for me, there must be others out there.  I think it's rather gutsy to require everyone to work a weeken day.  Oh for the days of ole when MT's could work whatever days and hours they wanted.  And made good money on top of it.  And mostly English-speaking doctors.

$35/hour x five 10-hour days = $1,750 gross/week.

Anyone know what is the full time line requirement per week? nm
Thanks.
You mean you don't want to try their 12 hour per day-4 day week?

Anyone apply for the 12-hour day, 4-day week they are offering?

I had to laugh when I saw their ad for a four-day week, 12-hour day.  In order to get in enough lines to make a 12-hour day, with all the clocking in and clocking out for every little thing like blowing your nose, you will be sitting at that computer 24 hours a day for four-days in a row.  And when are you suppose to eat?  What happens when there is no work during those days -- you end up working on your days off anyway!!! So much for a 4-day week.  Even overtime will have to be on your days off.

If anyone is working that schedule now, please let us know if it is working out well for you.  GOOD LUCK.  I admire your stamina.

Happy Holidays

I received mine about an hour ago. They told me they are less than
1/5 of the way through the resumes and responses and it will take a few days to get through them. Call their office if you want to move to the front of the list.
39 hour work week
is what it says. Sorry, 39 not 40 for those counting.
Are we talking a 40-hour week, or an
*
Not thrilled about the new 40-hour week but SM
am still positive. An issue is how much of the current slowdown is actually due to the crash in the economy (on top of the holiday season), a change no company could have planned for.

Also, something I find encouraging is that WedMedx has a vowed goal of developing and providing its clients with very high-quality MTs, excuse me, MCSs (medical content specialists). If that continues, it means doing what it takes to hold onto them since these are people who can always normally find another job.
Wish WMX would go back to 35 hour week for FT. (sm)

Seemed like we all had enough work to go around.  Perhaps this is more beneficial for the company, but the 35 hours makes it easier to work in a part time job if necessary due to low work.

Last time my accounts were low for a while I picked up an IC gig, then like a fool when OT was offered on my main job I quit the IC job and went for the bucks.  That lasted about 2 weeks.  Will not be that foolish again.

I just interviewed with them, they told me a 1-hour window flexibility.
.
I recently hired on and was told they were kind of getting away from 12 hour (sm)
but that a lot of that depended on the account you were hired for.
Yep, Wally greeter here told me she started at $12 an hour.
nm
OSI was reported to wage & hour about this last week

I know Webmedx pays $11/hour for 1 week.
I have seen in the past week other companies that pay, but I didn't pay attention to who they were.  I found the info browsing the job boards.
Webmedx pays $11/hour for one week and then
pay 25% above line rate for 3 days to give you some time to build-up production.
They told me they'd call by the end of the week.
so i'm just waiting, lol
As recently as last week, I was told that there were
never employee positions at MDI-MD, strictly IC only. Are you sure you have the right company? I have many friends who work there as well, and all are IC and wish they had employee status. Very confused here.
I was told that was no longer an option last week.
nm
TNI told me last week they weren't hiring currently as

I start at Webmedx next week and was told...
that my account will be 30% ESL.  When filling out the questionnaire, you are given the opportunity to tell them the amount (percentage wise) of ESL you can handle.  I put down 30-40%. I'm impressed with the way the recruiter handled things and, hopefully, will feel the same way in a month or so.  He seemed to really want to work with me and address any concerns that I had.  Good starting line rate with a good incentive plan.
You need to confirm that with Keystrokes as I was told last week it was not. sm
I would assume each account has different software and programs as to whether it is compatible or not. I was told most of their accounts are not. So don't assume that all Keystrokes accounts are compatible.
They told me last week they weren't hiring
true or false?  This was e-mail from Carlotta.
We all had to call in to the new insurance company last week. I was told that it will be sm
around $250 per single and that KS will be picking up a large portion.
They test for ortho but not others but I was just told that starting this week, everyone will have t
I love it there too!
I agree. I was thanked for working extra the end of last week and told of some MTs on my job type
who were out due to illness or vacation and that we were getting behind.  Same as the message this morning....the minutes were building up.  Seems things are a bit desperate at this point and we all just need to quit trying to read into the situation and pitch in and get the work back under control.  OUR company needs OUR help, and we need to pitch in 200% or we may very well find ourselves without an account to work on.  I don't think it was a threat this morning - I think it could happen.
Told minimum PT was 3500 lines a week; requires 2 weekend days a month nm
xx
Maybe she/he works 14 hour days/7 days a week? nm
x
think, people! If she does 250 lines/hour, same docs daily, will make $15/hour
nm
100,000/year - no way. I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days - sm
AND I DO NOT CLEAR $100,000/YEAR.

what's not to believe - I said that I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days AND DO NOT MAKE - sm
I DO NOT MAKE $100,000/YEAR

try READING the post.
$20 an hour is not even average for radiology. You should not make less than $25-30 per hour. sm
I work for Keystrokes and have for 3 years. I average 25 reports an hour, which is $31.25 an hour. I have 401, health insurance, direct deposit, life insurance. My lead tells me I'm wonderful when I talk to her, but I do not need a daily pat on the back.

I also have a good friend who works for them on a clinic. She only makes 0.08 per line but does 300 lines an hour, which is $24 an hour, again higher than your $20.

I don't think we're selling ourselves short. There are companies out there that are good to work for, 6 or 8 of them that I know of personally. Don't settle for $20 an hour.
I don't hesitate to ask. Have been told "yes", and have been told "no." Never been to
:+
Well if I could do 500 lines per hour, I would be making 35.00 an hour. sm
nothing to sneeze at. More than fair for having a 2-year degree. Come on people, we are all acting like we expect 6-digit incomes! Whatev!
Full time with Transtech is both. 40 hours per week and 5500 lines per week.
x
Nope .. email on 1/18 promised "within the next week." Here we are, 1 week later and no info.
x
The minimum is 5500 per week, NOT 6600 per week. I think you made a typo. :)
NM
Exactly and the CMT should be a requirement
to practice! That has been proven by the absolutely atrocious quality of MT'ing today. Trust me, I have been a recruiter, a mentor/trainer, a supervisor and QA, I've seen it all and it ain't pretty.
Line requirement
I was told 6,000/two week period.
Line requirement

What I meant to post, 6,000 lines/two weeks for a part timer, 12,000 lines/two weeks for a full time worker, whether you are statutory or employee

IS THERE A MINIMAL REQUIREMENT?

and do they give you the equipment to use?

The only requirement of a recruiter

is to get bodies in the door.  Some are honest and some aren't.  If you have a bad gut feeling then you need to go with that.  My experience has been that the ones who are good recruiters have all the answers on the fly; if not, they can put you on hold to get the answer, or get back soon.

Of course you may have gotten a recruiter who just started and you are asking questions no one had given her/him answers for.  Geez, the percentage of retention for the past year?  That's an arbitrary question in any event due to a number of different factors and one I wouldn't even ask.  I know my skill set so for me it's just knowing if they have a system I can make money on and if there is sufficient work to make money.

Weekend requirement
Is any two weekend days per month. Friday PM shift also counts as a weekend.
what is their line requirement ? - nm

line requirement for MDI-MD? - nm

The reason for this requirement is....sm
the speed and success of transferring voice files over a dialup ISP usually cause a lot of problems and take a person at least 2 x as long to download a file, most commonly 3 times as long.

Do you have satellite ISP availability?

line requirement
What is the line requirement for them for full time?
Alltype - New MT requirement) sm

I tested, had recruiter interview, given install date and emailed the paper work which included Appendix G provide and maintain Professional Liability Insurance, required by law.

When I asked about this, was told, part of renters or home owners insurance for PC.  But when I called around, insurance companies -- said no, &  puzzled by this requirement.  I asked well how would the company benefit, they said, I don't know.  In the event of loss, they pay to me, not the employing company.

Anybody run into to this job requirement before with them or others??

The full time requirement is (sm)
1000 lpd. Not sure about part time. I am on the new ortho account that just started. I just started so cannot really answer the next question, but they seem to give you a primary and leave it at that. They do like to cross train, which everyone does. They send a foot pedal, but you get online with the tech person to download the software. It is very user friendly and the best I have ever worked on!!
again, no physical requirement at diskriter
but hospital employees still have to have a physical, pretty extensive one too - - I used to be one but got out of that employee status, prefer the Diskriter employee status, believe you can get both there though whichever floats your boat
Line requirement is 11,000 per pay period. sm

You keep a time sheet and turn it in every 2 weeks.  I am not sure as to how much time you are given to get up to speed, but they are a great bunch of people and seem to be very understanding and caring.  I am sure they would work with you if you were having problems.  And yes, you can make up your time if you are missing some hours.  Hope that helps.

Good luck!
