This was discussed recently. Try a search or just read back thru all the pages to find. nm

1 poster from last year said it was okay, not great, not awful. BUT it only counts the black
s
There were pages of VERY negative posts about them, in the high teen-20s pages on
s
Poster above is correct about pay, and I have already heard back.
xxxxx
Note the above poster did not come back today and say she did not get paid.
I would like everyone who followed this thread to note this poster that had so many negative things to say about Cardioscribes, where she says she works, did not post she did not get her paycheck today. That should be the answer to the this whole thread. Also, I offered to help whoever was saying she does not get her line count or pay, and not one person contacted me. Again, I think that speaks volumes.
The poster requested some information to back up the allegations - sm
I am very interested and would like to see some recorded history myself.
According to a friend, awful, awful,
Low pay, bad accounts etc..
Will we be able to see all the pages?
Cannot go to the 2nd page now.
well done! this could go 10 pages, lol.
/
they only had 100 pages to type!

I already have a job.  If I were trying to nab a full time job, I would have been more careful, but the woman told me she needed someone to help out ASAP, like this afternoon.... so I squeezed in the typing test during my regular work.  She needs help with 100 reports and then bye bye, so I really didn't think spongebob would make a difference to her.

Look on pages 9, 10, 11 of the archives,
there's more info there too.
Yep saw that. They think 10-15 pages an hour.?? sm
This is to coincide with their proposed hourly pay. They get their calculators out and think HEY this sounds good.

They have absolutely no IDEA how long a page takes and what expertise is involved. $1.10 a page. They equate women with typing and this shows value (under-valued, second class, purchased commodity.
Look through the yellow pages of your local

phone book and call agents that offer health insurance.  Make several calls.  I did this when we needed private insurance and each call I made I got a lower premium, although every company had the very same insurance.  Celtic is what we found to be the lowest.  We no longer have this insurance as we have insurance through DH job, but we had no existing conditions, no regular meds, nonsmokers, so I'm not sure if these were covered.   I'd keep calling about COBRA.  The company has to offer it.   If you go 45 days without insurance and have a pre-existing condition you are in trouble, unless things have changed since we got insurance.  There is a temporary insurance through Fortis that is very cheap, but the deductible is very high and it doesn't cover pre-existing conditions.

I'd stay away from the association for the self-employed or whatever it is called.  When I called them their rates were double what I could get a private policy for and it was the same insurance.

Any way you can search recent pages w/o having to go to each one

Scroll down a couple pages (sm)
There are a few posts about them, nothing good that I saw.  I do remember complaints about not enough work and the owner needing to sharpen up on his communication and people skills.
What? There are a ton of TT MTs posting here. Scroll through the last few pages.
I would estimate that 95% of what you see posted here about TT is positive.
I agree 10 pages to long sm

A while back I applied with a co who sent me a 45 min test file.  I did 20 minutes of the file and sent it back.  I explained that I felt 45 minutes was excessive.  They asked me to work for them.  So you never know.

That being said, I saw WPU's ad  and $1.25 per page is low.  If you haven't done it before, you'll make less than $10 an hour to start.  If you're decent and can do 10 pages in an hour, you'll make 12.50 an hour.  If you're really good and can do 20 pages in an hour, then you're still only making $25 an hour - for being really good - and that's low in my book.  IMO

then why is it not posted on financial web pages?
No info from Forbes, Reuters...
or as soon as you memorize all of those pages on that account
they change your account again.
Job bank used to have 3 or more pages of jobs.

I do not believe this: This means that you read 11 pages
in half an hour?
One page has 40 lines.

This is a ridiculous statement.
I bet you cannot even read that fast WITHOUT having to make corrections!!!

It is good to be pro-VR, but don't push it with such hilarious pretenses.
you better check this board, all the pages...
someone posted what they pay, what it was like to work there, etc. do your homework. look b4 you leap.
Go to archives, company pg 87. Pages work

I looked thru 2 pages and couldn't find anything.

I thought it was deleted as can happen here!

Go through the yellow pages of your local phone

book and call insurance companies that offer health insurance.  Call several.  I called 6 companies when I was looking and all the quotes were for the very same insurance, but varied as much as $200/mo.   Celtic was the best insurance.  For a family of 4, nonsmokers it was about $335/mo.   We don't have the insurance now as we have through DH job.  I can't remember if that included dental/vision/maternity coverage.   There is also a temporary insurance through Fortis, that depending on what state you live in is good for 1 year.  It is not renewable and you cannot get it if you have a pre-existing condition, or have been without coverage for a certain time period, can't remember but I think it is 15 days.   We could only get it for 6 months in our state and I paid the premium for the entire coverage and it was $403.00 total for the entire 6 months.  The deductible was $5,000.  This was basically catastrophic insurance, did not cover dental/vision/maternity.   We are all healthy and on no meds so for us it was the best option.    You can check e-insurance website and get some quotes to get an idea of coverage available, though it will not likely have everything that is available included, which is why I suggest calling local agencies.   There is a self-employed organization that offers insurance, but I found to be very expensive, about what you are paying now.

Check into medical savings accounts.  I don't know that much about them, but I believe you have to qualify for them.   You basically put $$ into an account much like an IRA and get tax breaks.

I personally don't advertise in the Yellow Pages because I was getting a lot of sm
calls from housewives who know how to type *real good*. Or people who wanted to do this because they saw in a magazine that you can make a lot of money in your free time!
you really need to read through all these pages...see thread inside
there are threads on pages on this company board that are not positive. however, people tend to post negative rather than positive at this site.

people are not going to do your searching for you. do not assume because no one answered your question it is positive sign.

for example, here's a thread at page 10.

Wow! This means 19 pages in 1 hour! One page has 40 lines.
This I will n e v e r , e v e r believe, only if I see it with my very own 2 blue eyes!

LOL !

10 pages, bull, they want it for free, give them one page or find another job.
.
Yeah, I agree with the other posters. Ten pages is overkill. I think even with one page that would
get a feel for your skills and experience. No one can hide inexperience or inability to do the work.  There is NO WAY I'd ever do a 10-page report without being paid. They are ridiculous. I'd be curious to see if anyone actually falls for this tactic. I saw that they give their ICs 5 days turnaround time so I'd say if they had several MTs testing, they should easily make their quota for their clients. UNREAL!!!
It brings up 10 pages of info on TTS including the most recent stuff

I worked in QA for Transcending back in 2000-2001. They were paying hourly back then. SM

The accounts weren't too horribly bad.  The reason I ended up leaving was because slowly but surely they began to inch closer and closer to paying QA by production.  When I first started, the quota was something like 30 reports a day.   We simply had to make sure that we QA'd all reports that were close to being out of TAT first and then do the rest.  Then, my supervisor left and they hired a new one who immediately called a big teleconference meeting and said we had to up production to 60 reports a day.  Then, they started counting lines.  Which was fine because they were still paying hourly.

Next, there was an MT who used VR software because she was blind - yes blind.  Again, when I first started, I was told we had to edit her entire reports because she used the VR software and we had to make sure that everything was correct and made sense.  Then, we are told only check the blanks.  I wasn't comfortable with that and I continued to completely proof every word.  Then I was called on the carpet not because I wasn't meeting the production quota, but because I was ONLY meeting the production quota.  I told them I was proofing all of the MT's work that used VR, I was told that no one ever told me to proof every word of the VR reports and that I needed to fill in blanks and move on.  When I voiced my concerns, I was told that was my job, to fill in blanks and I should move on and strive to product above the standards.  Next thing you know, rumors abounded about changing the QA staff to being paid on production.  So I left.

There just seemed to me to be too little concern for quality and more emphasis on quantity and I just didn't want to be part of company who would take money out of my pocket just to line their own and that's what they were doing by putting QA on production.  I also am not comfortable with the job of QA being thought of as a blank filler.  There is much more to the QA profession than just simply filling in blanks.

I don't know if Transcend ever did start paying QA by production, but I could see that the idea was being floated there.  Maybe there was a enough protest that they didn't change from hourly.

Good luck to you!

Phoenix Medcom- Another apply a few months back, ask to take a test and never heard back??
I applied a month or two ago, received an email from someone asking if I would take a test and said she was getting ready to go on vacation for a week, so I hurried and immediately and told her I'd love to take the test. I never heard back. I waiting thinking she went on vacation and would contact me when she got back to do the test but nothing...very strange..Just wondered if this happened to anyone else.
Hello??!! I'm the original poster! I think I can respond to the poster who replied to my original
nm
Has everyone heard back from Keystrokes yet regarding the email we received a while back?
Just wandering why I haven't heard any response yet.
I sent them an email back in August and never heard back sm
Is this company on Long Island? I checked out their website and even tried calling once. Were you successful in contacting them? All i know is that the company is owned by some doctors.

Hopefully, you will hear back. Unfortunately, I immediately heard back from MD-IT
but somehow with over 16 years of experience, I blew the test.  I was soooo disappoionted and yet pretty stunned.  I am by no means perfect but I haven't flunked a test in years.  I expected it in my early years but not this far down the road. I was so confident and they will not tell you which part you did not pass and why so it really just blew my mind.  I must have been in shock for like two hours after I got the email. Oh well, someone will want me....hopefully.  I was thinking about OSi but I don't think I could take another rejection if I never heard back.
you seem to have an awful lot to say...
I still think you would be perfect for that particular company. That is my opinion. Sorry you are so awfully frustrated and upset...Maybe a career change? You have a lot of issues...
i think its awful
That a company would accuse an employee of something without 100% evidence/knowledge. Guess the original post was TRUE!
Awful!
I didn't pass either. I got a 78. I could have sworn I answered almost every answer correctly especially since we were able to use reference material. I guess that company does not want to hire that many MTs if their test is so darn difficult to pass!!!!
Awful. sm
Time clock punching that has you working at least 40 hours (even if you're hired for 35) just to get your lines in. Clocking in and out to go to the bathroom, stretch, answer the phone, breathe for fear it'll cut into your line count. Therefore, your MT work stretches out throughout the day, eating up all of your day.

Stupid, pompous, ignorant, incompetent, braggadocious upper management, with a resultant revolving door of MT managers, MTs and QA.

ASR that came with big promises and many MTs complaining of pay decline.

I would not advise anyone hire in with them until things change at the top.
That is awful

You are right, I am not just out of school.  I've been MTing for about 12 years.  I learned from my mom and then just learned on the job after that.  Never had formal training.  Anyway, that is really terrible that the schools would mislead you like that.  Even those of us who have been transcribing for many years are not getting paid close to what we should be, much less the people just out of school.

The best way to make money MTing, in my experience, has been with my own accounts.  I currently have two of my own accounts and in the past i had an entire hospital account, which really made some good money.  Even then, it is tricky finding good accounts because many of the docs don't want to pay what the work is worth.  Best of luck to you.

AWFUL!
I worked there for just over a year and quit 3 months ago. Ever since the SPI takeover, things have gone WAY downhill. Management is awful and they treat their employees horribly. They just don't care about their MTs. Tons of people have quit, including almost all of the management that was there when it was still CyMed. My manager quit a few months before I did, and the work suddenly started disappearing fast. I could no longer even come close to making a decent line count. It also doesn't help that they don't pay for spaces. The new managers put us in the awful new work pools and there was rarely enough work to go around. I would totally avoid this company!
It was awful when I was still there!
After the SPI takeover, my Cymed manager quit, then we had a temporary one, then there was a new so-called permanent one, then she resigned from the company, then we got another temporary one, and then finally another one, who was very rude and horrible with communication! I quit very soon after all of that! I have never been happier since I quit that hell hole! They couldn't even keep an elephant typing for peanuts!
Wow, that is awful!!
I can't imagine not working for and not receiving that much money!  What Steve did was very generous and Proveros should be proud of him.  It's unfortunate that his financial manager gives the company a bad taste in your mouth!
