Hahaha! Pitiful and ridiculous comment. A lot of posters, as 1 poster even mentioned

In Reply to: How am I wrong? You pick apart the poster's message without looking at content. sm - Just my opinion

in this thread, immediately stop reading a post full of GRAMMAR mistakes, NOT typos, before getting the 'issue.'

How can one respect the opinion of a poster whose grammar is a catastrophy, especially from an MT?

The 1st question that pops into my head is, 'How did this person get an MT certificate?' I am not talking about typos, incorrect grammar only.

Quite a few posters have mentioned doing this..nm

My comment is about posters in general.
I've never worked for KS and know nothing about them.

Nothing on this board tells me anything about them either. That is my point.

What is on this board is completely anonymous and we have no way to know who is actually posting and if there is any truth to it.

I agree with you and comment on other posters - sm

Amen to all that you said.  I, too, feel that management should have an overall feel for the account.  That is where I would like to see communication.  If they have an idea that an account may be going to EMR or whatever, they really should give us a heads up.

And nobody needs to give me any crap about reading my e-mails.  Yes, our owner sent that mail about the ebb and flow, but come on get real.  It was very general.  It was very like: Tell me something I don't already know.  Don't tell me to flex my hours or how this business can be that way --- anyone who has been around for a while knows that.

Tell us, specifically what we can expect from our on specific accounts.  Tell us specifically if we should look somewhere else for work, anything!  If you truly cannot say anything helpful, then maybe you can say something encouraging instead of giving us a bunch of hot air.  Like telling us you understand, and that you understand how hard it can be on us, our families.  DON'T tell me that I should manage my $ better for times like this, HOW DARE YOU!

Instead we get generalized comments about the nature of the business and if we are good little MTs then we will learn that this is the way of the business and we should be smart enough to flex our schedules (gee, ma, I would've never thought of that).  We get HOUNDED about committments that cannot be kept, and YES you do HOUND and yes you DO expect committments to be kept when things are slow, because for some unexplicable reason things don't look slow to management when they sure as heck are on our end.

Whatever.  I'm just tired.

The above poster wasn't me. I'm the LOL from above. Two separate posters - haha
nm
I also think that comment was totally rude and not necessary...Poster just stating something..

Read down the board. Mentioned just 2 posts below yours and mentioned
multiple times this week.

Pitiful, just pitiful........nm

Pitiful, ain't it? nm

.

You are so pitiful...
I have other things to do so I can't be bothered with you anymore, but the bottom line is that I'm so sorry you can't comprehend what has happened, the amount of money earned AFTER taxes and so on. The individuals that have read the original post and understood it, emailed me about it, asked about it, etc. obviously have it together and realize that this does happen. Whether you are part of Landmark or not, makes me no difference. The bottom line is I said what happened, I still haven't been paid to date and I have filed the appropriate paperwork as anyone else should in these cases. If people want to work there, then I hope it works out for you. For those of us who did not get paid, it didn't work out and we will be taking our lack of pay claims to court. Good luck to you - it sounds like you may need it.
Y'all are pitiful..
Why are you MTs???? This is not what MT stands for. Sorry. This is exactly why speech has come to be..yep..it is. There are no more EXCELLENT or even good transcriptionists and so they had to find a program that would cut down in their QA time, etc., for semi-quality reports with a handful of quality and I mean QUALITY transcriptionists. They are to be had no more....say what you want, I don't care. The TV, web sites, etc. advertising you can make 40 grand a year, etc. The schools are packed, nobody coming out with any knowledge. Well, here we are. Blast me all you want. Won't bother me a bit unless you give me your years of experience...

yep saw 1 ad 2.5, 4 and 4 VR pitiful don't accept
.
8 cpl when hired, 8 cpl 5 years later...pitiful...sm
but the owner is enjoying all of the profits...
That is just pitiful, How do people stand working there??? NM

HAHAHA
Thought it was Miller time? LOL
HAHAHA.
H
hahaha
now that was funny ;-)
hahaha
Constantly ran out of work to QA and was expected to type in order to make any money.

Not sure why you are complaining. You make NO money doing QA for DSG, typing is the way to go.
....and then there is there fabulous HAHAHA $12.50

Downtime? hahaha

There has been no mention of that and I'm sure it wont happen.

When the system is fixed, the most we'll get is double the amount of emails telling us how much work there is and how we all need to give us food/sleep/bathroom time to get it caught up.

I know how to do ESLs hahaha
Where did you get the impression that I do not know how to do ESLs!  I have done them for years at above 99% QA for crying out loud but 80% you cannot make a living doing, at least the kind of living I want!  I am only willing to do 20-30% and have never settled for less....  My question was about VR, not ESLs.
hahaha welll.. (sm)
I'm a tier III and still don't get paid for op notes, so don't feel toooo bad - my cpl is less than yours. ;)

Oh great - Another psychic employee!! HAHAHA
How about just saying yes, it is 70% of your line rate instead of making up rumors.
Hahaha, don't hate me, but I have the beautiful NJA screen right now!!
And I am very happy to see it. Off to drink a hot cup of coffee and bask in the warmth of the morning sunshine.

Ta-ta.
Amen to that.. and we are mad as heck are not taking it anymore...HAHAHA

You're right! Hahaha My typo totally messed up the meaning!
Yes, MQ is aware of my other position. I was very up front with them when I took their offer. Spheris probably would not be happy about my situation, I agree.

My other comments were made because no matter what I post, someone has got to be interested in what I'm doing or not doing, whether they think it is right or not, etc.

My whole post on this thread was an answer about great companies. I posted. Then, if you'll go back and look at this entire thread, I am the one getting all the virtual "you can't do that" complainers on my back.

It's not anyone else's business. One of the OPs started it I suppose with the trying to tell me I can't post on this forum because I work for Spheris and I can't use their computer. Then others chime in. Then others start in with what they think I can and cannot do.

It's none of anyone's business. I wasn't addressing any of those subjects whatsoever.

I seem to be prime fuel for the flaming activities, regardless of the subject of my posts. Even if I respond to others, 9 times out of 10 I get flamed and for other subject matter most of those times.

Hahaha, you are right in your answers to some of the other posters. You and I are having an adult conversation and understanding each other well, even if we disagree. THAT is how it should be.

As I answered you somewhere in this same thread, I understand what you were bringing to light for others who may not realize about working for more than 1 company. It is a gamble. I agree wholeheartedly.

It isn't just the competition between Spheris and MQ though. That expectation is with other companies as well, maybe not all, but most. And most, if you read the employee handbook imply that they do not want their employees on forums like this.

One of the OPs stated that I signed a contract with Spheris forbidding me to be on this forum. No ma'am. That simply isn't true. I went back and looked at everything I've signed. I've signed no such contract. There may be an implied policy but I have not signed any such contract.

I personally think that each company has really good aspects. I can also see where each could improve. That will be with any company though. As long as I am well paid and have flexibility and opportunity, I'm a happy clam.

Hahaha. Good April Fool's Day joke but gotta break the news to ya,
:+
It's the big O not the one you mentioned
.
Yes, it was mentioned... SM
and explained. Transition to new MTSO not going smoothly -- acct could come back at some point but DO NOT hold your breath! Bottom Line: Same-old, same-old -- Onward and upward, think positive, etc. No dramatic announcements other than big push to get everyone on same platform. :-))
EMR...should have mentioned

Our EMR system did cut down on some things for us typists.  The medications and allergies were already in the patient's chart and therefore pulled through into the document (office visit letter) that the doctor created himself the day of the visit.  If there were changes to those meds, he would dictate the changes.  If there were no changes, he would state that.  That was one less thing for us to type.  It didn't change things for us greatly because we got paid hourly, but I'm sure that would cut lines out of someone who gets paid production.  It was a very new concept for our office at the time.  We had 21 physicians and 7 NP's so I can safely say half hated it and half loved it.  Some doctor's refused to go completely paperless and would always ask us to print hard copies of the latest test results and that allowed them to not have their faces glued to a laptop and actually pay attention to the patient.  I have not yet experienced the EMR/EHR system as an actual patient.  I'm sure I would be really alarmed at not getting to spend time with my doctor and instead only see the top of their head as they are clicking around in my virtual chart.  There are definitely pros and cons and I can see both.  As for it completely wiping out transcriptionists -- I have my doubts.  Dragon software years ago was supposed to have wiped us out as a profession and look what happened to that.  I know VR is a huge thing, but that too is still creating jobs.  I tend to be more optimistic.  The only thing constant in this world is change and we have 2 choices -- embrace that change and roll with the punches or sit and complain about it and make things worse.  Nothing is ever certain so I guess we will just have to wait and see.  No one can predict the future.

It has been mentioned that some
companies have increased the cpl when the client requires VBC.
That is ridiculous
I never heard anything so ridiculous - none of the companies do what? want you to earn too much? LOL. Every penny you put in your pocket is probably two in theirs. Companies want you earning as much as you can.
This is ridiculous...sm

I received an email today regarding an employment application I had submitted some time ago.  I currently work as an IC and am very happy with my job, so the application must have been submitted at least 6 months ago.  First of all, the email does not state the name of the company that I supposedly applied to.  It is three sentences long and states that they are looking for ICs to work from home.  They will pay 6.5 cpl without spaces!  Attached is a list of their computer requirements.  The email states that if I meet the requirements to contact them and they will direct me to their testing site.

I have about 20 years of experience as an MT.  What is going on with this field that a company thinks that 6.5 cpl is a respectable rate for a seasoned MT?  Not to mention not putting the name of the company in the email...so I don't even know who I'm dealing with.  And, not paying for spaces?!?!?  I will not work for a company that does not pay for spaces.  A space is a keystroke.  It should be counted.  Spaces don't get into a document by magic!!

I have a good mind to respond to this email and tell them exactly what I think of their offer, but then again, it probably wouldn't do a bit of good.

ridiculous
That statement is absolutely ridiculous.  The QA manager is the most easy person to get along.
That's ridiculous

I have to say that I used to be MTSO and while I was not rich, I definitely made more than the people who worked for me...if you don't, even part of the time, then you are doing something wrong and why be in business? And yes, most of the MTSOs that I know (and I do know 5 of them right in my general area) do live in the very best neighorhoods, have 5000 sq foot houses, and if not vacations homes, then quite a bit of money in the bank.

This is ridiculous
3.5 cpl is ridiculous! The only way it could be any good at all is if you JUST had to fill in the blanks (nothing else). No 100% proofing. No new MTs. Maybe one or two accounts at most. And IF IT IS NOT being transcribed by offshore MTs. That's the only way 3.5 cpl would be worth it. Also, if companies would STOP paying QA on a production rate, it would help the industry! Being paid on production to ensure quality is an oxymoron. It makes no sense. It says hey, do your job perfect but the more the merrier. Its a sore subject with me, and I'm hoping that we stand up and stop accepting QA positions on a production pay. Maybe eventually the companies will have no choice but to go back to hourly pay and pay as what we are worth! If you have to proofread any more than filling in blanks, you're getting ripped off big time at 3.5 cpl. (mtsunite.com)
that is ridiculous IMO. SM
They are definitely short-changing you by giving you $3.00 for the first page and then $1.50 for subsequent pages in a report. That would be equivalent to being paid, for example, .08/per line for the first page( working for a company) and then .04/line for each subsequent page of a report. That is extremely unfair. Charge for what you produce. I had my own clients for years, and depending on the going rate in your area, I certainly would not go lower than .10/line (or figure out the equivalent if you have to charge per page). I am being conservative here as this is low rate. Also, if printing each page, add a percentage to that line rate. Whole different ballgame when you have to print and deliver reports. Time consuming and more cost to you. Their offer per page is ridiculous. Think how much money that patient is billed for the visit, and then see the pennies that you would make by producing one of the most important components (the medical report). The medical report is as important as the actual care the patient receives. If they do not agree with your charges, let them go with a company who will charge them much more, and they will likely call you back. I once had a client who wanted digital dictation so I footed a hefty TASP service bill every month so my docs could call in their dictation. They then requested that I print and deliver the finished reports. Not! They were upset because I denied their request, and ended up going with a large national and pay a much higher line rate. They still did not accomplish having their reports printed for them. They called me back, but I was already involved with a new client who appreciates me and does not try to get everything for nothing. Good luck in whatever you decide, but don't settle for less than you are worth!
7 cpl is ridiculous! sm
I was thinking about applying here, but I definitely will not be wasting my time taking the test and interviewing with them now! I don't have the experience you have (I have about 11 years now), but there is no way I would work for that!

Thanks for posting that and saving me some time.
ridiculous is right

You're not the only person I've heard say this and it's a shame this is happening.  I realize we MTs cannot expect to be paid higher wages when the services are suffering as well.

But I see too many ways for this whole mess the transcription profession finds itself in now to just fail and do a turnaround.  The government insists on privacy protection of medical records, then allows us to send them overseas with little if any regulation.  What about taxes and Social Security loss due to this?  The Department of Labor gives us our own classification (a bit of recognition for us) but our pay is not on par with other professions in the same classification.  AAMT wants certification to be mandatory but what's the incentive to study and work so hard for it if it doesn't make a much more substantial increase in our salaries than a penny a line? Yes, that can add up, but it should be more, way more.  Physicians want cheap rates with excellent quality but how many qualified MTs are willing to work for pennies before feeling used, frustrated, burned out?  How many young people are willing to enter a profession with such low wages and have to work hard and wait years to achieve even that?

In the end, I don't see how all this VR and offshoring and underbidding it is going to benefit anyone except lawyers who will profit from suits brought about by privacy violations, malpractice suits due to the result of physicians depending on missing and/or wrong information in the medical record, misplaced records, dictation getting lost in the process of transfer between here and there, etc.  How many service owners will want to continue making as little profit as they do now (small ones)?  I also see coming an overall shortage of qualified MTs who can understand the American physicians who are impossible dictators and the ESLs.   What incentive do the new MTs have to hang in there and strive for this other than a sense of accomplishment but that doesn't pay the bills.  Yes, if you work long hours and/or multiple jobs you can do well, but is this what it has come down to?  And how many will be willing to do this for any length of time when they have other options?

It's all going too fast to prevent errors, serious errors.  I think we will be needed again, hopefully paid a higher salary again like so many years ago, but not until a tragedy happens and America wakes up to how these allegedly cost-saving methods of doing medical transcription is hurting the economy and the physicians start getting only what they are willing to pay for.  There are the lives of the human beings (patients) involved here.  This isn't about producing just a product (like a garment) in another country.   Medical transcription involves too many people in too many areas of medicine to let it totally falter.  Something has to give at some point.

One thing I'd like to see is for the insurance companies to raise the fees for physicians and services who offshore since their transcription is more prone to error than if it was done by a knowledgeable native American MT who knows our language, and also because it leaves the country thereby jeopardizing the patient's protection and privacy since these other countries do not have the security measures that America does.

This is ridiculous.
Two MTs fighting like children.
that is ridiculous!
I do not work for TT, but for DRC. We get morning reports and in one it said to enjoy this downtime. We are employees, not ICs. I think if you told employees who physically come to work everyday to go home and just enjoy time off they would probably start looking for another job. People become employees so as to have steady work, not to get stupid enjoy comments.
