How was her post rude? True, she does

Posted By: MT on 2005-07-17

seem a little snotty, not wanting to start apparently at the bottom of the totem pole where newbies do, and not fully realizing that the workflow in this business waxes and wanes, but she was not rude. Just extremely inexperienced.

Guess I missed it.

That is not true and rude
There are a LOT of in-the-closet Americans who work for these companies. Their protocols ARE rigid, but some of the MTs just aren't (American and offsore, mixture of both working for the same company). The test I took on mttest was the hardest I have EVER taken with more actual files to be typed than any other company. When it comes down to making a living, you do what you have to do. No, I don't work for one now but I have and money is money no matter who gives it to us.
true about the people being rude, not to mention, don't call you back. nm
    ,,
That was RUDE of you to post
that the prior recruiter was let go.

I would think if someone were let go (also known as fired) that they would rather it not be published in an open forum for all to see.
    Your post was rude...

This is exactly what you said:  'It is downright ridiculous, but so is a lot what YOU are putting forward.'

Nothing in my post warranted that type of response, but I really expect nothing better from you.  Once again, today you act as if you need something to help you relax, maybe Xanax?

Above post is rude and noth even worth reading.
The word 'CLUELESS' comes to mind....
To the person who sent me the anonymous, rude email. FYI: I AM an MT and I post answers here to di
a true response is given, not supposition and rumor. I do not know why you find it take and ignorant (your words) that I answered that Keystrokes does not and will not send work overseas, but as an MT, that was very important for me to know and part of the decision I made to go to Keystrokes in the first place.

I will not be intimidated by anonymous emails and certainly will continue to post answers with facts when asked.

This board is for everyone in transcription, not just those who think they can control the threads, and I for one like to hear from others in the industry with different viewpoints.

It should not reflect poorly on KS as you said; quite the opposite, I will only post facts and as offshore is an important topic. If your opinion is different than mine, that is your choice, but to send a rude email anonymously with a threatening tone was obviously meant to intimidate me.
I mean the 3rd post below this is true.

Your post is so very true! sm
Unfortunately, in my 25+ years in this profession, I have never had a dream job. I have had my own local accounts and worked for several MTSOs over the years. We all receive our share of garbage dictators, as well as wonderful dictators. Currently, I have days where I receive nothing but terrible dictators who take me twice as long to type as my better accounts. On these days, I may make under 100 dollars. There are other days where I can make much more than that when I have fluent speaking dictators and easier accounts. I found over the years, both having MTs work for me, and working for MTSOs, a versatile MT who can take the good with the bad, is the most valuable MT. You not only benefit yourself with learning many doctors and specialties, but you also become valuable to the company, and likely to be kept long-term. I can remember working 12-14 hours per day 6 days per week for years. This dedication and perseverance not only helped me make money, but continually educated me while making me a valuable asset to the company. There is no way I could ever type this many hours now, as my hands, wrist, and neck will not permit it. For any of you who are unhappy with your company after knowing you have given your all, research other companies because most (I know not all) will appreciate a qualified, experienced, and hard working MT. Good luck to all in these trying times.
My only contact with them was rude. The front office person or whomever schedules interviews is rude
This was about a year ago but I set up an interview and either I was supposed to call them or they were to call me at a certain time but I totally spaced off the time change. The lady went off on me and told me that they had no interest in me because I couldn't call on time etc. Rude. There is no way I would ever work for someone like that.
Your post is so well written and so true...
I realized that saying something really will not make any difference and venting my frustration has made me feel better. I really can understand where you have been and know that everything happens for a reason and the way you handle each and every situation in life defines you as a person. I am going to stick it out for now, but have an offer from another company I am really contemplating, as I will be back doing my specialty of reports and maybe can finally get some decent lines again, as I really like to be able to eat out once in a while. ;oD
All of the replying post is true.
Even if you do meet your line count by the 3rd pay period but don't meet it later because there is no work to transcribe, you still get the nasty grams and phone calls and told to work 24/7 to stay employed. The MTs who don't have this problem are given preference in order to help them make their line counts, thus reducing the work volume of everyone else.

They also just completely changed their insurance, reduccing benefits and raising the employee portion with only about a 10-day notice.
above post is very true regarding Bayscribe nm

Sorry, meant for *not true* post (nm)
    xx
Yes, I was hesitating saying this in my post before, but this is true,
doctors use their handwritten chart notes and their notes.
Also in almost all 3rd world countries.
X-Press' website says they have over 400 MTs. Is this true? Your post sm
says a small group of co-workers. I am considering working for them but I am getting conflicting answers, which worries me.
Very nice post - all true statements! - nm
    nm
    QTers - post previously true
Thank you to whoever had courage to post about QT losing their large account, for all I know their only account at this point.  I had for months heard rumors of the work going to outsourcing and now our latest check sure looks like an Indian had signed it.  So figured work would always be light and would have to supplement.  But thanks to kindness of a stranger posting where the account is going, I won't miss a beat with a paycheck and with an account I have worked on for a long time.   So if those of you were doubting whether it was true, it is true and I believe they are still hiring for more positions at the company that starts with W.  Good luck to everybody.  How could such a good company go down the pooper so fast?
This post is true. Pay attention people. nm
    x
Good post, Amber. And true, too. All professions
restructuring.  But anyone with eyes can see that even though the MT profession has changed, there's still a TON of work out there.  You know, it behooves the employers out there to have doom and gloom run rampant and the MTs thinking that they can't do any better than 6-8 cpl.  Sometimes I wonder if they're the ones spreading most of the doom and gloom, and then some naive MTs are picking it up and shouting it too!
Post here in Jan. 2007 said they have mandatory overtime. Is this true?
    s
GREAT post. So true. I've been in this business
for 30 years, and never ever had more than an hour or 2 with no work. Not acceptable and doesn't happen to me. I work my behind off, am fantastic at this, and not 1 employer has ever done that to me, and probably never will. Just like you said, if I hit no work, I call and straighten the situation out. Don't ask questions about the account, about what MT can or can't transcribe it, just state that no work is not gonna fly with me, and I am always treated with respect and instantly given work, which I also thank my bosses for. Give and take - it goes both ways. I'm there when they expect me, and I'm there when they need me, and we're all happy. Can you imagine some MTs getting ANGRY at you? Again, another scream or throw up reaction from me. Some of you MTs really need some psychoanalysis, if you know what that is...obviously your income is NOT a necessity, and this is probably a job for you and not a career. You get out of MTing what you give and what you expect, nothing more, nothing less. Expect to be treated like garbage, expect slave wages, expect no work, expect disrespect, and you'll get it, and it seems like many MTs are looking for this! Thus the continual postings asking about companies we all know STINK. There is no other explanation - you want to be kicked to the curb and probably put little effort into your life across the board. Such a shame.
On the contrary, I find your post refreshing and true. sm
I agree whole-heartedly that MTSOs AND MTs are in it for a paycheck. It's not personal. If you don't like your employer's treatment, find another company where their style is more to your liking.
Just be rude..out and out rude so they have just cause to "fire" you.. haha..What a bunch of i
Who would want to work for incompetent people like that. Time to change your phone numbers. They are like bad stalkers.
Great post and very true! I read these today and was amazed that someone's first thought was pay
I agree that circumstances can make loans necessary but the OP sounded more like she uses these on a regular basis. No I'll have to learn to budget for the difference, just oh no, now I need to go to Payday Loans and pay 400% interest.

We have the potential to earn what we need to, although sometimes lately it is harder and harder.

Good for all of you. Wish I had seen these earlier.

p.s. Can someone call and tell my BIL to grow up too?
Moderator answered "Not True" which means she will not delete post with name and link (nm)

    3 words, rude, rude, rude....sm

the owner sends out UGLY and NASTY emails to the MTs. The communication is just a disorganized mess and they hire you as an IC, but pretty much treats you like an employee.  Emdat sucks and pretty much the accounts are not that great.  VERY hard to get your lines in Emdat platform.  They LOVE to FIRE....when in actuality.....(that is the term they use)...you cannot FIRE an IC, you can lock them out of the system and I guess that is firing, but those two words have always been a pet peeve of mine....hearing when MTs are fired as ICs....Just my opinion

    Rude, rude posters
Hope you rude posters find a good fit for you.  Don't run down OSi because some of us like them.  No problems either and I have 10 years experience.  No newbies here like you say.  Love the accounts I'm on.  Hope the complainers find a good home, but if not, they will be back and on another company's case.
It is so rude to call QA rude because YOU have
been stuck on QA hold for six months!! And the other poster above - if you are getting QA notes and they are including your supervisor, which you imply is not the norm, then YOU are the one responsible. It matters not if you've been an MT for 1 week or 30 years - if your skills are not up to par, they are not up to par. Many MTs get cleared from QA hold within hours or days at most - companies do NOT want to hold you up from producing, nor do they love to waste their $ on MTs on QA hold. You really need a reality check. And no, I am not rude! It is always, always the MTs lacking in skills who get pissed at QA - no form of feedback is acceptable to that type - even sealed with a kiss and a big bow!
Rude! Recruiter was very rude to me.
She had an attitude right off the bat.
Glad that's true for you for 8 years. Not true for many. I love the company, but I do run out of
as do many others. Wish I were as fortunate as you.
Not necessarily true. That is not a true test of skill.
Do you know how many people get others to take tests for them? It happens and it happens more often than you might think. The only skill that shows anyway is that you can do it.

We are actually more than a transcriptionist. We are specialists in our field and we are supposed to know some things regarding anatomy and physiology as a working base. That's how we can judge if a physician dictates something in accurately and many do because they can't pronounce or just are not thinking. That's why our skills of basic knowledge come into play and that means basic knowledge of body parts. If our job was just to sit there and type without thinking about what we are transcribing, then all patients are in trouble and this is just based on what I see as a QA person.

It's more than just knowing how to transcribe and some of the companies have discovered how to know what your basic knowledge is based on what you have picked up with your experience by utilizing your references etc. Hopefully that utilization of your references has taught you something that does stick in your head.

Beliefs like yours are just so far off base. You have to know what you are doing. It's not just about being able to listen and type. Base knowledge is a very important thing and the services have to find a way to know that knowledge base that is there in your head.

My post should say the post above not the post below, Sheryl's post to be specific. nm

    rude
Don't tell someone "get out of the business"... who the h are u?
Weekend work should be optional....... or hire people who want to work for a premium. Forcing people breeds discontent. So there big mouth.

    rude rude rude
Those of you who NEVER have a typo cast the first stone.
They were not rude to you because you
took their offer. It is funny you say they charge because they claim they do not.
You are the one being rude.. sm
Your post sounds like deja vu. I'm not the one doing the name calling. I merely stated a fact as I know it. Say what you want. Everyone here knows the truth.
Why be so rude about it?
If you don't have an answer to that question, don't bother to post a reply.  It's annoying.
    wow, are you rude!
I hope you don't treat your family that way!

I happen to live by myself, and all I know is, I have to be able to make enough money to pay my rent, etc, etc., and I could not make anything with KS. I have MS, and cannot work out in public because people make fun of the way I have to live. So, like I said, walk in MY shoes first before you criticize ME! I have found work again. I have been an MT for 5 years, now, and love doing it, but I need some money to live on.
    rude QA
I have been a Transcriptionist for more than 20 years. I was let go from my job at the hospital because of my sons illness. I worked for Medquist but made more money 10 years ago than I did when I got fired for questioning how they calculated their lines.

I started with a company at home in 1/06. I have benefits which are very expensive but the pay is OK. Nothing like the good old page count though.

I have been on full QA for 6 months now. I think it has something to do with the editors getting paid for QA-ing us. I was constantly getting emails in BOLD basically yelling at me. I did complain about it and have treated with respect since.

I think these QA people think we are all from India and have the right to ridicule.
You are very rude - sm

I believe the poster was wanting ANY response, positive or negative, about getting the job or not.  No one said they felt they GOT the job.  If you take the time to test, and some of the tests are lengthy, they at least should give a response to you, especially if you have tried to contact them, as the OP had obviously done.

There is no reason to have rudeness.  Read the post more carefully.  You obvious misread it or wanted to misinterpret it.

    rude

I did not intend to be rude.  It is rather sad to see someone with bright hopes and plans based on not enough information. I have had and friends have had such snow jobs by recruiters that it is difficult to believe anyone any more. This board is populated by honest, hardworking people in a declining, sweatshop industry (I've been around 20 years) and it makes me sad.

Thanks but I'm not being rude. (sm)
There is a lot of information out there from as little as 2-3 weeks ago that he/she might not have come across without doing a search first. So, you see I'm not being rude at all, quite the opposite.
    Rude.
The state boards are very inactive.
I'm sorry, I truly don't mean to be rude
And please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that this was a company board where people can (are supposed to?) post their questions about MT companies?

I am far from new to MT, but am new to this website, and I only posted my question after I had already been trying to search in the archives. Did I break protocol?
I don't mean this in a rude way, but
why does this matter? I don't get it.
    RUDE. nm
    nm
    Now that was rude.

    RUDE

You are so rude to people. I am glad I do not work for you!!!!!! I feel sorry for your employees. You must be one miserable person, I pity you.

Was not trying to be rude...
And I was not just talking to you giddy pc guru. I was simply trying to say that sometimes there are reasons to which no one knows about and everyone here just automatically thinks the worst about everyone without giving them the benefit of the doubt.
