All this is just starting to sink in. I am thinking...sm
that I may hang in there with MQ and see what happens, find a secondary account with another national or local hospital, and just promise a small amount of time, maybe 28 hours to get 5 days PTO a year, and see what is the most profitable. I am thinking that maybe the pendulum will swing. I heard that a local teaching hospital that does contract some work to MQ is also starting to hire at-home MTs for the first time, paying 11 cents a line. Either that or, maybe get in touch with the AFL-CIO and form a union?
What can anyone tell me about eMTS transcription company. Thanks much.
:
EMTS is a wonderful caring company - I've been
there over 2 years and I will have to be chased away with a stick. This company is SOOOOO kind to their employees ... seriously caring people. You can't work for a better bunch. That is my .02
EMTS Great company steady work
Getting new work and accounts are sending more and more work.  Great people to work with.
Its a very good starting rate
I just wanted to know how they start NEW MTs at 9.5 and can only pay the old ones 8-9 cents?? Just don't seem right.
That's good to know. I am starting soon with KIDNEY STONES!
:)
Medquist is starting to sound really GOOD!
I work for a national where the platform's been down more than up for the last few months, and they don't pay a penny for downtime.
EMTS website, working for EMTS
Yes they have a website and you can send a resume on line. I suggest calling their toll free number directly.
I have tested for them, and hope they are as good as I have heard. Can anyone comment on EMTS and is it a good place to work for someone with a lot of experience and a family to support?
So what is a good starting rate for an editor with no experience? nm

STARTING A COMPANY

I read your post and followups.  I too, at one time, considered starting my own transcription business.  If you get your business off the ground, contact me.

Here's another suggestion for a company name.

TransUSA Medical Documentation

My company is just starting to use
something called M-Modal, not sure if it is the same.  They are just doing a trial right now with a small portion of one account, but if all goes well they will transition all accounts over.  I don't anticipate that happening for several months, from what I've heard.   I don't work on the account that is using it so I can't help you with the platform.  From what I've been able to get from what management has told us though it isn't very user friendly.   I don't know anything else about it.
Huh! A QAer at a company starting with T also SM
was going to put me on probation after she failed me on a routine review. I failed again on a second try--not just dropped below 98%, failed outright even though I tried earnestly to follow her confusing instructions to the letter and ignored that in some specifics they were just plain wrong. I told my supervisor, and she made it go away, but I'm also wondering...
Starting at 6cpl. Awful company all the way around
Stay away please
You are right. This is a good way to look at it. I'm not thinking of leaving at all BTW. nm

Seems to me YOU are the one starting the problem because someone posted POSITIVE about a company!!
I take it you don't have a job because you THINK you are worth more money than you really are? Now I agree that the pay is not that great, but these days just to find a nice company to work for would be worth it. I hope you are miserable in your so-called high paying job...IF you ever get one. I doubt anyone would keep you with your NEGATIVE attitude. ces't LA vie
Thinking of going with Keystrokes but need to know if this is a good move
Can anyone tell me anything about Keystrokes? Good to work for, personal, friendly, organized, plenty of work, etc. I really do not want to jump into another bad situation after just getting out of one for the last 8 years. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Do you recommend starting with clinic notes or acute care when just starting in the MT field?
!I realize this question may be better suited for the new MT board, but this board is my favorite)

I am considering accepting an acute care position, even though I am just out of MT school. However, I don't want the learning curve to be so steep that I fail before I even begin. I would also like to have a smaller pool of dictators to transcribe from as opposed to many.

Also, are there more ESLs in acute care versus clinic/dr office work?

What has your experience been? Would you do it differently?

Thanks for any insight!
I was thinking about applying for this company
myself as an SE but I had been reading some bad things about it and got scared off. However, I have read some very good things about MQ too!
Oh no! I was thinking about applying with that company.
xx
I'm thinking I work for the same company....
but the queue shut off is new to me. Was this in an email or a recent conference call?
I went through a recruiting company, thinking they

would have leads on companies who might not want to post an ad for some reason and that I could find something paying better, etc.   They represented 2 companies I think, one of which I had already tested for, been offered a position, and rejected it.  They knew this but wanted me to go through the process again.  I did and they offere me the same thing that I was offered before and I again turned down the position and then never heard from the recruiting company again.  It was the same company mentioned by someone else.

I recommend posting your resume on all the free job boards and also applying to any company that meets your needs, as far as employee/IC and hours, etc.

I have posted my resume before and got probably a dozen responses, most of which I weeded out right away due to low offers.  I tested for a few and was offered positions with all of them and even took one of the offers, but that company eventually went out of business.  I posted my resume again and months went by with not even 1 offer, and then several months later I got a few offers.  You just never know what the response will be.

Not accurate. Must be another company your friend is thinking of.

Don't you think other MTs thinking of applying with this company would have liked the same info?
:+
I was thinking the same thing. I'd definitely pass on this company. nm

AllHealth in GA - Good company, good equipment, any info about this company? (sm)

What type of work do they have?  Any op reports?  Appreciate any info.

Oh really? What company do they carry their insurance with? Thinking of applying there.
nm
Just thinking it may be nice for others to know the name of the company IF they happen to hire
again in the future.......
Is Keystrokes a big company or small? I am thinking of applying. Time to leave the Q. nm
The sad thing is that I do not even think they would notice if I left. I am a high producer but not very vocal and they seem to have forgotten about me :(
I'm thinking NOT..on the company's name. Probably a company with a bad rap
wanting to post anonymously so people will actually apply, but I could be wrong...
At first I was thinking that you were being unrealistic, not thinking about taxes, benefits, etc. bu
surprised to find that you are not asking the moon. Let me clarify a few things: Rates charged are not as high as 0.25 per line, but no one that has U.S. employees goes as low as 0.115 or they would not be able to pay their bills. A more realistic range is 0.125-0.165, and that top end is hard to find, most falling at 0.14-0.15 per line.

The rates of pay you propose are very reasonable IF the following is true: These are seasoned MTs who do not need a lot of hand-holding, QA or blanks filled in, unless a very difficult/impossible doctor.

How about a scale based on experience and accuracy of 0.09 - 0.105 per line (acute care), and $1.15-$1.30 per report (radiology)?

The VR one is tough as everyone, MTs and MTSOs and facilities are still feeling their way on this. As an MTSO who was an MT, I feel that VR editing is as difficult to do as regular transcription. I don't think that it should be substantially less pay or charged less as the end product is still the same.

Funny thing here? My company already follows that scale. We should work together, not at odds, to reinforce this industry and bring it back to where it should be, right here in the U.S.A. with a decent paycheck.
Does anyone recommend a pretty good company that is good to work for, pay always on time and plenty
of work.  I know that is asking a lot, but just curious?
Strictly IC, good company, hard accounts, good platform.
Good pay, always on time, no direct deposit though.
Is Transcend a good company with a good platform to work on. They are advertising.
:
Webmedx hires some ICs. Good company. So sorry for your loss. Good luck!

TransTech for many reasons, good pay, stable company, good benefits
and flexible.
I have looked around the last 6 months and have found nothing better. Have turned down numerous jobs, and have finally decided to stay put. The better insurance plans were announced and even moreso than ever, I am staying put, and my paycheck is happy about that because it is getting better every day. Good luck to you.
TransTech is a good company. Debbie is the owner and a good one at that! nm

Good company, great people, good benefits.
Affordable insurance. Good luck!
I know JLG and they are a good company with a good group of people

I joined JLG about 9 month ago and I am thrilled with the experience that I have had.  Although the company has been around for 20+ years, a group of good industry veterans who know how to operate fairly to both employees and clients have joined the company in the past year.  I followed my manager from another giant company.

I have also worked on this account and it was plauged with problems from the start.  The hospital required the account to be implemented in a matter of days, there were technical issues and the hospital management staff was new and the employees were mad because transcription had been outsourced.  Personally, I won't miss this client but good luck to those that get it.

There is plenty of work at JLG and I have already been advised on my new assignments

DSG is a good company. The sound quality is good sm
but I don't understand why they are hiring. In the a.m. was have NO work. The afternoon and evenings do have more work though.
or maybe it's really a good company. Give me a break. If a company isn't talked about sm
on here, good or bad, it's probably too small to matter and does not offer benefits or anything at all.
Xmas coming. New company, thinking about sending Xmas cards. (sm)

Thought about just sending one to the office in general, is this tacky?  I actually am in contact with some of them more than my direct supervisor.

How do you all handle this, if you send cards at all, that is.  This is a fairly small, very family oriented type company.  If I were still with MQ you can bet I wouldn't even though my supervisors over the years did always send out a card to me on Xmas.  I just never felt very festive when I was working there.

Good company, with good incentive SM
pay scale, decent health plan for full-timers, lower end for other benefits, well organized and dependable, good platform, good support. Very heavy ESL, medium-sized community medical centers, relatively high SR pay rate because it takes longer overall to clean it up. However--good producers who put in a good workday make quite good money here.
eMTS, sm

I'm just starting with them and so far they look and sound great!!  I'm very impressed with them and hope to be with them for a long, long time:)

EMTS

They are in Miami area, offshore, and have been around for some time.  Owner seems to be a decent sort.

Run run run
EMTS
To get to the website, by the way just type in your search engine EMTS medical transcription. I believe it is a e-MTS, but you will get there either way.
eMTS
I saw a job post for eMTS.  It sounds really good.  How good is it?  Anybody working there that could give some inside scoop would be greatly appreciated!  I'm happy where I'm at, but I'm afraid I've about topped out money wise, and the work has been running out continuously for the past couple of months.  Help!
Still looking for....eMTS

I previously asked for information from MTs working for eMTS regarding your platform. Do you go through Citrex to entry the platform? What about your line count, give me a ballpark figure for a full day. Thanks

eMTS
Anyone working for eMTS please email me good, bad, ugly.  TIA
