GOOD. This is important. Glad you thought ahead.
.I think we as women are condition to wait and see how it goes. Has it really ever gotten better -- whatever THAT was. We need to learn to believe our gut. When My Office Genie sold to MQ, I guess she (carol) was so fearful, she made the anouncement and wham, immediately gone. Had it all planned out in advance packed and gone..
I worked there for 2 years and am glad I left
However, I have several friends that still work there, love it and probably will never leave. I personally choose not to work for a company that outsources overseas. Just my opinion though.
I feel that way every day. Just 15 miles and 150
    xx
For me, 9 miles, and have to get gas at the pump again.
calming waves and food. B/c of the gas. But working at home, I think I'll pay for a little gas and sit on the beach and scan for loose change to eat!
From what my employer says, the 50 have to be within so may miles of one another
Yes, there have to be 50 but they have to be within a certain mile radius before we are eligible for FMLA.  It really doesn't count for home MTs if this is the case.
    About that 75 miles clause
I've never seen that enforced on at-home employees, so I'm not sure. I HAVE seen references to FMLA in Medquist's literature, which implied to me that FMLA applied to MQ'ers. As many MQ'ers as there are though, maybe there are 50 or more employees in most 75-mile radiuses? Even with the Q though, that doesn't seem possible. The USA is a pretty big place... My thinking is that FMLA applies to at-home employees who are employed by companies with more than 50 employees.
They have to drive a whole 10 miles. I am so jealous.

WOW.  They have to drive a whole ten miles.  I am so jealous.   Since MANAGEMENT is based in Madison, Wisconsin and it takes 20 minutes to travel from one end of the city to the other, I do not think driving through the snow for a SPA weekend is all that much of a bonus.  Now Cancun.  That would be a bonus.

Closest doctor is 30 miles away
Already looked into that and the closest doctor is 30 miles away which is too far for the money and they are all going to EMR anyway.
Few hundred miles north of fires but
we had a share last year with all the fires and smoke. Yes, California keeps gettin' kicked while we're down.

Email me with your filler job link?
Glad that's true for you for 8 years. Not true for many. I love the company, but I do run out of
as do many others. Wish I were as fortunate as you.
If there was a such thing, the black list for MT's would be miles longer than sm
that of MTSO's. I would love to see most of the MT's I have dealt with even begin to do what I do. Most don't have the social skills, personalities or work ethic to be good employees, much less MTSO's.

NOT ALL, BUT MOST. If you all can generalize, so can we. The difference is that we don't talk petty BS to each other as MT's do on the boards. I, for one, am sick to death of the bashing that goes on here. If you spent more time working and less yapping, you might make more money and be good employees.
I am in exactly the same boat, 10 miles from small rural town, don't know any local
MTs even after 12 years in this community.  I need to find something with decent pay and the same kind of flexible scheduling.  I too had planned to stay with MDI through retirement and this has really thrown me for a loop.  I would just look for a new career right now if not for the fact my kids are still young enough that I would like to still be at home/available, especially when one has a chronic illness and his needs can change on a dime.
I got a travel mug! I work at HOME. I drive 10 miles a week. I don't drink coffee. Sheesh! lo
    nm
I think anything goes here. Go ahead and ask!
    x
    You just go right ahead
because after all revenge is such a great response to fair criticism, and such a great substitute to considering if said criticism is fair...

I'd touch base with the company lawyer first, just for the heck of it...
    Already ahead of ya...
I do have another job and I'm using that as my primary job and using OTI as my second job working just about 10 hrs a week. One thing I like about OTI is they don't give a flip how much or how little you work, they don't even care what hours you work so long as you do clock in once in a while.

It seems to be a game at this point, so I might as well play or leave.
Why don't you go ahead and tell them the BAD news? (sm)
They added a tiny bit to the benefit package (still not comparable to other nationals), still no weekend or shift differential. AND they raised the minimum line count from 10,000 lines per pay period to 12,000. It will be imposible to achieve 12,000 lines on those horrible VA accounts. The recruiter will tell you that you won't get paid for headers or footers because they automatically populate WRONG!!! You will spend an unbelievable amount of time in the demographic screen.
    I went ahead and tested.
    Thank you for the info
if you want 6 cpl with 20 yrs experience go ahead and take the job -nm
    no message
I would still go ahead and apply
I really don't think that a few months will make a huge difference, but you never know until you try. They still may offer you a position. Good luck if you decide to apply!
I went ahead and e-mailed someone
There seem to be a lot of people in the lead here, but not sure which one is which.  To me this is a bit ridiculous.  I was put on production right off.
Sure, go ahead and e-mail me
    I am blackswan--so ahead and e-mail me.
Go ahead and take their test and you
    NM.
Go ahead and do it but be very, very careful sm
that you put the right report in the right shell on the right person. That is the only problem when the report does not match the voice and patient. As long as you are careful, you will not have a problem.
Good, you go ahead and take 7 cpl
but next week don't cry when they'll only pay you 6 cpl.  Maybe it would be a good idea to get the old movie, Grapes of Wrath with Henry Fonda and see what happens with price cutting.
I am so glad, so very glad that finally I have reached
the age that if we are low on work, I just take off. No problem at all and love the extra day or so off. I now have worked since the 70s and finally made to retirement age, get SS plus other retirement money coming in and thank the good Lord do not have to worry about if there is work or not. BTW, when I worked inhouse never ran out of work ever, only when transferring out to company do they run out of work. If I had to raise a family now I would most certainly cross train on other accts at my place but only have 1 that I work on, by choice.
Honey, you go ahead and gripe
all know they stink and that they are thieves. I hope you can find a new position soon. Good luck to you, but please, please get away from SS.
    Go ahead and warn 'em
but all too many people get carried away and make up all kinds of nonsense.  I have worked for a few companies and do know what is out there.  I have others to compare this company to.  So, that sure isn't the case.  Anyway, its a free board, post away...just warning others to watch out and to form their own opinions.
thanks for the info- I did go ahead and test
and it was just like you said. I have 11 years experience and had to leave a couple blanks. MT testing is crazy. I don't know why it has to be so difficult. Oh well, moving on to the next company for testing tomorrow.
I think I'm gonna go ahead a bite...
I turned in my Keystrokes paperwork today for a RAD account starting Monday.  It looks like most of the problems are with acute care accounts with more positives on the RAD accounts.  I'm not worried about OT/paid holidays because I have an actual IC job with plenty of work if/when I want it.  I'm just hoping that being this RAD account is new, there will be enough work to keep me qualified for medical.  I see others who just posted recently are new hires also--good luck to all of us!
    Au contraire-perhaps months ahead
I don't think I am years behind -- if congress/president has any sense, they will begin to bring our jobs back to the U.S.  The idea of exporting our jobs in exchange for supporting our trade partners BOMBED.  Just like the idiots at Wall Street.  It was a great plan - but it has ruined our economy.  I would not be surprised at all if the tide turns -- and I hope that my fellow MTs will do as I ask and write their congresspeople and ask that U.S. work be returned to the U.S.  What did Obama say?  Time for a change?  You got it brother.  (Palin 2012)
Go ahead, apply, and take my work
Such glowing reports all the time. Ugg. Please, don't ask someone who stuck with it and went broke, and had to struggle for so long due to overhiring. Of course, they will tell you to go nights and weekends and if you don't it is your fault for not being a team leader. So, go ahead and apply. My job is happily available to you.
The MTSOs are the only ones coming out ahead with VR.
    x
That's funny! I wondered how you could know ahead of time! nm
    x
Hey you guys, go ahead and email Dell
because he's probably more in a position than I am to acquire more MTs in the near future.  Mine all depends on an account that I'm not entirely sure of yet.  But if you would like to email me anyway I will keep your information in case I do.  The account I may have is an ortho clinic acct and what I would like to do if I get the account is have maybe 3 MTs share 2 or 3 doctors; that way they can all be familiar with all the doctors but also if anyone didn't want to work any given day the other 2 could take up the slack and cover for the MT who is off.  And I don't even know at all that I will get the account or if I do when it will be - but I will keep your info just in case!
If you can have focus and full steam ahead
    Wouldn't you think??????  LOL
sry--meant I'm gonna go ahead AND bite
    /
Go ahead and think that until check is not in mail Monday . . . nm
    nm
Excuse me but I am ahead of my lines for the week anyway sm
so if I want to make an omelete, that is my choice. Was I complaining for being out of work at that particular moment? No. Besides, I have work now and also, we are allowed a 30 minute break to eat by government criteria. I don't know if you know that or not.
Go ahead and revolt - do you think that docs CARE? SM
or the public cares? No - and the companies will use that as an excuse to send the remainder of American MT jobs offshore.

And before someone says you're a SUIT, NO - I AM AN MT who doesn't like it any more than you do.
Obviously you dont do STATS.. that is when your IM'd until you cant stand it anymore.. Go ahead t
doing stats and let the games begin...and the word NO is not an option..
Hoorah! I'm still a step ahead of a gas station clerk. n/m
    f
Thanks! I'm glad to hear that, I didn't think anyone used it anymore! I'm glad to hear so
    I'll definitely check them out!
I talked to them today. They want 3 years in a hospital or 5 years combination sm
hospital and at home or clinic and at home. For radiology, they want 3 years full time radiology. I thought they were very nice and I have a few friends that work for them and are happy. The pay seems average to high for what I am seeing now. I think they are 0.08 per line or 1.08 for radiology. Beats what I will have with the new MQ program.
I worked on site for many years. I've been doing this for 10 years... sm
I've worked on site, at home, for small MTSOs, for nationals, for hospitals. I've been paid per line, per minute, and per hour. I've been an MT and a QA. I have ALWAYS worked weekends and ALWAYS worked nights for the shift differential because MTs can't survive on 6 or 7 cents a line. At least I can't and I type 105 wpm.

I've BEEN dedicated from day 1, sister, so you are barking up the wrong tree.
15,000 lines per pay period. 8 years with KS, 6 years on this account! nm
    Not going anywhere else!
30 years - this WAS my career. The last few years you guys have ruined it.
You work 9-5? Big deal. I work more than you do. I bet I work harder too. Treat US with respect, lady!

Don't talk to us like that and don't expect us to kiss your feet. Kiss ours for a change!
See if you'll be producing more after 30 years of MT'ing and at 50+ years old.
I don't think so. My income increased every year also, until I reached age 50 and 30 years of MT'g, been downhill ever since.
It wasn't tough 5 years ago. Or 10 years ago, yet
    How to you spell
    G-R-E-E-D ???

All the shifty, dishonest, greedy pigs in this country belong in JAIL.
You may have to move on to move ahead (sm)
One way to look at what you are doing right now is more training only you are being paid for it; once you have a year or two under your belt as experience, you may be able to command a higher wage someplace else. It's funny, a place will pay more for someone with 2 years' experience than they will pay someone who has worked for them for 2 years! Go figure.
