Simple answer. Call a recruiter.

It's not like you owe them your first-born child if you talk to them, they're paid to help.

"Just me" means just me and no one else, that simple, go to work
nm
ditto. They are the cream of the crop.
x
No pay. No work. Plain and simple. I have never heard of not paying before during training. You can
bet they are getting paid by their client on the job that YOU did. How cheap can you get. RED FLAG..RED FLAG.. run.. run fast.
M-TEC and Andrews produce MTs that are the cream of the crop.
M-TEC's course usually takes anywhere from 9-18 months to complete. I'm not sure about Andrews.

I have hired MTs from both those schools as well as other lesser-known schools, and the M-TEC and Andrews grads are the only ones that were worth keeping onboard.

I guess MedWare is the cream of the crop this week?

If I were an MTSO right now I would be picking up the cream of the crop as they jump ship (sm)

from MQ in preparation for new accounts.  I don't know that MQ will go under or be seriously harmed BUT I truly feel that there will be some accounts lost either due to quality or the hospital having misgivings about their work being sent overseas.

We may find a lot of these companies are going to be over-staffed and work a little slimmer at times, but who can blame them?  If you find well trained MTs, get them on board and then be aggressive in soliciting those MQ accounts that might be up for grabs.

I wish good luck to the MTSOs out there who might be able to turn a bad situation for MQ into a profitable one for themselves and the United States.  They pay us in US, pay their taxes in US, we pay our taxes in the US, we make purchases in the US with our money.  Let's see, who missed out on that one, oh yeah our ILPs (international labor partners as MQ calls them).

Unfortunately this is how rumors get started. SM
Someone posted that some company that uses ExText deducted 30% for headers/footers.  I have no idea which company does this but it is NOT TT.  They do not pay for headers/footers and will tell you this up front but there is no 30% deduction in your line count.  What you see is what you get.
Disregard any rumors and try for yourself, sm

They are a great match for me.  I am very happy with the account I am on, like the stability of having a primary with backups.  Pay is comparable with others.  They do pay for down-time that is their fault.  They do have incentive pay (and you can negotiate your line rate if you don't need benefits).

They are not for everyone though, not is any company out there.  Rumors on this board in the past have been very misleading and some were just not true.  Everyone I have come in contact with has been very nice, that's why I am still with them after 5+ years and not complaining.  Steady work, your left alone to do your job, and the platform is easy to learn and can be very productive since you are on a primary account.

If you like what you hear from the recruiter, get it in writing and give them a try.

No one is starting rumors
We are just trying to figure out the line count problem. Do you really think if we asked management they would tell us they are skimping on lines or how they go about doing it?

This is how rumors get started.
Management at TT came from another company, why would they turn around and sell? The reason they have low work is the overhiring for the new accounts, nothing other than that.
the rumors can be quelched by doing a search
about their wonderful benefits program, a post which blew up in their faces. I disagree with your statement that their benefits are better than most and I base it on that post and my experience with other MTSOs.

Yes, TH beats the pants off KS for its benefits package, its professionalism, organizational abilities, going above and beyond and more. I wholeheartedly agree with the other TH poster and can attest every word about TH was the truth.
Heard rumors that Transcend does...
but can't confirm it. 7 cpl for over 10 years of experience is criminal.
Rumors don't hold water with me.

GIVE FACTS or keep quiet. You keep trying to down TT everytime someone posts a question. I have asked you time and time again for the FACTS which you have not provided.

You heard....i.e., you DON'T know. You  ASSUME. Why don't you go right to management and confront them and THEN AND ONLY THEN, come back to this board and post the TRUTH. Until then, stop trying to spread RUMORS!!!

This is how rumors get started. Most KS MTs are employee status and there
is a benefits plan, which I think is better than most.

Too many people take what is said on the internet as Gospel, which is sad when it is not true.

They are trying to go to employee status only unless you are incorporated with your own liability insurance.
They absolutely do not! Please don't spread unfounded rumors like that.
x
please don't try to start rumors. spheris BUYS your
nooooo, they are not merging.

Is this a SOM hospital? I am worried myself. Rumors flying. nm
nm
Webmedx, not rumors, true story

Maybe you work on accounts that are not experiencing ASR yet.  All I can tell you is I have gone from around 1700 lines a day to now struggling to get 1000 and get those only because I consistently sit at my desk clicking new report to be taken to another job, and many times there are no jobs available.  I am not spreading rumors.  This is a true story of what has happened to an employee, one who has been called a most valuable employee, one who has worked diligently for 3 years for this company and has over 30 years experience.  And, yes, I have multiple accounts.  In fact, at the present time I have 20 accounts as I have called several times to request more work so my family does not suffer.

I am not a complainer, not looking to cause ill-will.  I am a concerned employee of a company who has not been straight foward regarding what is happening to our employment.  Of course, this may not be happening across the board in all accounts, but it certainly is in mine and if you look at the posts on this board, I am not alone.

I am a good worker, reliable, accurate, with high QA, a producer and work on the most difficult accounts with lots of ESL.  Do not judge a situation which you do not know.

Boy you must like starting rumors. How completely ridiculous.
x
Also easy to put an end to it if the company would simply communicate their denial of the rumors, as
x
I don't get any other work type after OPs. I call in to see if they
are backed up on other accounts that they need help with. I have 4 accounts and when they run out I call. I AM NOT CHERRYPICKING. I am doing what I am given!!
I would call her ASAP rather than sit without work. nm
,
Promised to call you to start work?
I'm sorry, but as a recruiter it's hard to believe that a company looks at your testing and assumes that you'll buy in to what they're selling before having a long discussion between the two of you. Something's fishy here.
Call the office and hopefully they will follow up with more work. nm
x
But could you just not turn on computer that day and NOT do the work. Or could you call and say
:+
I guess that is what they call work ethic - sm
But even though it is hard, it depends on what is most important to you, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, or earning a living. When I first started this work at home, I told myself that I would do anything and I mean anything, to be successful. Even if it meant working until midnight, and believe me, there have been times when I HAVE worked until midnight and beyond, just to meet my TAT, but I did it. I work in my living room, where it is bright and airy. No TV. No radio or music. No distractions. I screen my phone calls and only answer the ones I know are important. I have injured friends' and family's feelings when they think that just because I am at home, I have time for their whims. I just look at it like it is a job just like any other. If I were in an office somewhere, I would not have time for cooking, cleaning, laundry, TV, etc. and the same applies at home. It is all in how much you want out of this. Working at home is not for everybody, but it works for me. Self-discipline, I guess. Good Luck to you. :^)
they call you if you don't work your schedule shift
nm
Ran out of work, they wouldn't return email or call...see msg
They wouldn't contact me back or answer my calls. Four days later they finally got back with me to tell me to be patient. I specifically asked when I took the position if running out of work was ever a problem.
Has anyone received their W2 from DeVenture? No longer work there and don't want to call them..nm
nm
call attorney general and do not work until paid
that is BULL
Did anyone call about the STAT ortho work on the job board? Thanks. (nm)
x
I definitely want to work.. but not for them. I have found great place to call home where you get..
what you are promised as far as work, pay, and the communication is excellent. MDI-FL should take a few lessons from some of these other companies and you'd have more happy employees. There are far too many team leaders and management out there trying to save face for MDI..obviously.. The rave reviews are NOT from the MTs trying to work for a living.
I know we have clinic work but not sure about the Part time. Call a recruiter. nm
.
Yes, call waiting works. I also have call forwarding from my home line

It isn't quite that simple...

Thank you for your input; however, it is a deeper issue than that.  It is a major opportunity to teach the offending MTSO a lesson.  Speaking for the collective MT group, we are human beings and we deserve the same respect as any other human being.  It seems that MTs have, for too long, allowed themselves to be doormats.  Obviously, there is an exception to every rule, but I am not referring here to those few exceptions.

It is that simple...

There is no deeper lesson to be taught.  If you feel that you are being treated as a doormat and do not want to be, then do not accept the position and move on.

Simple
If you type 100 minutes of dictation for this company and their operative notes are 1-2 minutes maximum (I worked for a company that paid like this) and they add up to 30-40 lines per report, you would be typing anywhere from 3000-4000 lines for 100 minutes, which equals $100.00 for this amount of lines, which in turn equals about 3-4 cents a line. Believe me, they pack the dictation in this amount of time. The company in turn charges the hospital or clinic per line and they pay you the minimum.
It isn't that simple
It isn't just whining! These people are taking MONEY out of the other MTs' pockets! While an MT with integrity does all the jobs that are assigned to her and gets hung up on an extremely difficult dictator, while the other MTs are taking all the easy dictators and making money hand over fist. That is NOT fair to the MT with integrity who makes chump change because she refuses to stoop to that level.

It is not fair and it is up to management to put a stop to the practice.

Don't judge others until this has happened to you. It isn't fair and this is the only place MTs can come to vent their frustrations over it. If you don't want to read the posts, just skip them, but don't tell people they are acting like children fighting for candy. This is FAR, far more serious an issue!
OSI plain and simple
Speech recognition, outsourcing, massive turnover, only the beginning. The only way to offset this was to offer more benefits but they also upped requirements to receive them. You can't make more lines if more and more companies are outsourced, and two new ones have been added to that, Mayo and Sarasota--Ochsner already was. They aren't being that generous with benefits in the long haul and as someone said the other day nobody will stick around long enough to actually receive the benefits.
Simple solution
As long as Cymed can continue to find MTs who will put up with this crap and accept their positions that don't pay for spaces, they will continue to do what they're doing.

Why would a quality MT accept a job that doesn't pay for spaces. Why would a quality MT stay there?
SE versus IC. I know there is s simple

but I'm a math retard.  If an SE made 10 cpl and an IC also made 10 cpl, and everything else were equal, then the SE is actually making more because half of the 15% social security tax is paid by the employer.  So the SE makes 7.5% more than the IC, correct?

Now here's where I'm a math retard.  If you take that 7.5% into account, what is the SE's *real* line rate?  Sure, it's still cpl but when you figure the employer is paying 7.5% of the taxes then does that make the line rate actually more like 10.75 cpl?  Or am I off on my math?

Simple -- 5 steps
1) Do NOT answer the phone if it is not about your child or your husband, period. Get an ans machine and check it on your breaks. It is your responsibility to treat your job with respect and spending your time on personal calls is not respecting your job, your pay, your finances. You're an adult; you can do this.

2) Try to arrange your appts during nonworking hours.

3) Make an alternate schedule for yourself that you can commit to when appts or emergencies call you away.

4) MAKE everyone aware that you are working during ## hours and that you are not to be interrupted, then do not ALLOW them to interrupt you. If you answer - you are allowing it.

5) Define what really constitutes an emergency to TAKE YOU AWAY FROM WORK and stick by it.

It sounds as though the phone is your biggest problem. Simply stop answering. Let everyone handle their own problems...they are adults, too.

If you take control of your phone calls and have an alternate schedule for true emergencies (I mean - child/hubby sick, etc.), then you'll be able to handle unexpected/unplanned pressing needs such as your cousin (going to Iraq) dropping by!

Make YOUR time the most important time in the world. Because it is!!!
Some simple feedback for you..
Just wanted to say I think it was your tone with your suggestions that angered a few. It sounded bitter, angry, and downright nasty the way you spoke/typed it. We have all had our run ins with recruiters who make promises and do not follow through irregardless of the resume itself. I think you just hit a sore spot. :)
radical yet simple

Pay based on knowledge and difficulty NOT production.  This will raise the howls from those on the board who want all ops -- but you reward knowledge not limber tendons. Higher line rates for those willing to slog through ESL Discharge summaries and medium line rates for flying through ops and ERs.

Simple solution -
email me.
The rationalization is simple...(sm)
I'm laughing here because it's so simple you're gonna laugh at yourself for asking! Of course they're now trying to sub-contract to other companies, no one wants to work for them. So, if they hide behind another American MTSO, they can get American transcriptionists that way!
Anyway, thanks for the warning. I hope everyone who is contacted by or contacts another National company does what you did and ask where the work is coming from.
I use ChartScript and it is very simple. The only
demographics I fill in are ptient's name and doctor's ID # if there are any CC.
A simple solution...

get a fake email address.  go to hotmail or yahoo and just make something up.  i will never know who you are.  :)  I do understand your hesitation.  I wouldn't email me either.  LOL  I'm safe, I don't work there anymore.

Line counts?!  Um, yeah.  Encouraged to be dishonest to the MTs regarding that also went against my grain.

And here are even more simple facts about
I have been with them for 2 years. I work PT (6 hours/day). My average for last pay period was 163 lph. Yes, I exceeded production for PT (6000 lines/pp), I always do and did even when I was FT. I don't understand the complaints or the inability to meet production. The DI honestly takes all of 2 seconds on MOST (I aint saying all cause I don't work on all) accounts. I have worked on 6 different accounts and all but 1 have ADT feed...I am sorry it didn't work out for you because Amphion is one of the best nationals out there...good luck!!
