I was not involved in any posts at all, but ICs

Posted By: do have the right to be upset. on 2009-01-03

I am not interested in ICing at the moment, but those who do IC work have the right to be upset at this who work as supposed ICs, yet let their employer -- note that I used this word intentionally - they let their employers dictate the hours to work, the lines to produce, and hold them to a set schedule. This is the polar opposite of what an IC is. When MTs do not realize this and happily accept these illegal working conditions, it ruins the IC marketplace for the rest of the ICs. One company gets away with it and the next one follows suit.  That's how we got in the mess we are in today. When an IC says yes to a set schedule set forth by their employer, and is told how many lines to type, etc, it is 100% an employee position - the MTSOs just get their cake and get to eat it too, by having MTs, women, at their beck and call as employees when they have no legal right to do so. Everyone loses - the ICs, the MTs and the other MTSOs who are following the laws.  The more ICs who are ignorant of the situation, the less true IC positions will be left. Our freedom to work as IC is literally just about the last perk most of us has left.  It should not be taken away by fellow MTs who have not a clue of the laws and how it should be. So, yes, its a very very important issue and one that we should all understand and support, whether employee right now or IC.  It impacts our entire industry.

It's time to get involved in

politics and vote for the candidates who have a plan  fixing the health care mess. They won't bother if we just sit on our thumbs and wish for a miracle. The corporations are right up in their faces with their needs and wishes, we need to be also.

The hospital involved
used at service with work at home MTs, for one thing. It was a complex case, but several people at several levels did not follow rules and regs.
Too many companies involved & they sm
will make the choice not to deal with unionized workers.  There is no law forcing any company to become a union shop and I doubt seriously any of them would.  That is why a union cannot work for transcriptionists.
Jay Vance is involved, so it must be good.

Dislike it, too. Much too involved, too many choices, etc. nm

Man, the testing for these services is involved. nm

seems a little *helium* involved in this response..sm
geez, not to mention some pretty snitty answers.
Yes, I know. Our hands have been tied. I'm sorry for all involved. :( nm

I usually would not get involved in this type of conversation, BUT...lm
Your reference to the Mexicans doing work the US citizens do not want to do is WAY off the mark. If the wages were as they used to be before US employers found that the Mexicans would work for lesser wages and be happy, US citizens WOULD do the work. The same applies to the MT work - were it not sent off shore at a ridiculously acceptable and low wage, MTs in the US would be much happier. With such an attitude, I fully predict that the poor class in the US will rise to meet that of other third-world countries - and your attitude about oh well, that's just the way things are now is exactly one of the reasons this type of working condition is being allowed to happen here on our own soil! Working for a foreign employer is a choice that few US MTs with good work habits and skills is willing to make - and that, in my opinion, should speak volumes! Just because you are willing doesn't make it wrong for others who do not. Just my opinion!!
I wasn't involved in the thread and don't
know what you are talking about, but we do have freedom of speech.  You can vote to get a post deleted by clicking on the blue vote/moderate button.  It takes 10 votes to get post removed - not 10 votes from same person though.
How did Transtech get involved in this conversation?

You needn't be so smug. I'm not involved at all, other than reading
It takes no guts at all to come on and cheer for your company - any company, and even use your name.  Kudos to you, and mgmt will be tickled.  It does, however, takes guts to come on here and post, even anonymously, about negatives with a company, any company. I would assume from the postings that the person you are trying to "call out" is a current employee. First of all, you all know that even Larry reads this board regularly, along with all his "eyes" as in MTs. They even discuss it via interoffice email.  Second, if said employee is complaining currently about certain issues that are causing his/her unhappiness, he/she will be easily identified by the postings. Its a no brainer.  Then Transcend will be all over his/her butt, threatening whatever they want to threaten.  I am an ex-employee with Transcend, and I even have to watch what I say regarding my 100% total negative experience, as I don't want them honing in on me, either. Finally, it is just so ignorant to make blanket statements about any complainers who are "vague" as being job-hopping malcontents. I can assure you that one thing that bothered me BIG time about Transcend was how they treated me differently, as in preferential, as a new hire compared to what was supposedly required on hire, i.e. working set shifts, etc. After I was hired and not happy with a set schedule, I was allowed to do what I wanted when I wanted to.  That info alone will identify who I amt to my account supes.  I was shocked at getting that preferential treatment myself, and that had the opposite impact on me - it made me wonder who WAS getting what and why! And you act as if thousands and thousands of happy Transcend employees are reflective of the health of the company. It is a tiny company in the big picture. When I hired on, I had the impression Transcend was HUGE - right up there with MQ and Spheris, but there are only a 300 employees? If that? Larger than a small MTSO, but nowhere near the volume of the big guns.  I also had an account that had mandatory overtime - mandatory, while others had no work, etc. Just wasn't my "fit", but that doesn't mean I'm a job hopping loser MT. Quite the contrare'!  So, lighten up on the poster who has graciously told you over and over that he/she doesn't want to post details, and get off your high horses!  One can get bucked off easily when riding too high! Or hit in the neck with a branch!
why does this matter so much to you? Are you personally involved or affected?
It seems like you are being vindictive.  This was all 15 years ago but you are dragging it up over and over.  Perhaps you are jealous of how she turned her life around. Have you never made a mistake?
Tapes? So there is shipping involved too? Yikes nm

MTSOs are the bosses; MTs are the employees. There is no friendship involved. nm

I think I would not stage an accident where a rope around my genitals was involved. sm
Obviously, I wouldn't be around for the embarrassment, but you'd think he'd think about his family.  I am sorry he is dead ... and really sorry that it happened under such freaky circumstances.
No, we did not give out information. No court order involved. sm
Obviously, TT was able to look at the information provided in the posts and determine who they FELT were making the posts.

No information has been given out by MTStars on this situation whatsoever.

Move on.

They are cruising for a bruising! I got a check from another co when the labor board got involved

I completely concur. Find a good one, or move on, quickly. No loyalty involved. The don't sm
have any to the MTS.  NONE of them.

something positive about a company it doesn't mean they're in management.  Think about it this way - if people were really as unhappy as they claim on these boards with any company they're working for then they'd be out getting another job - because whining here isn't going to change a thing.  Remember that one person's opinion doesn't represent everyone that works at any place - regardless of the industry.   The only way people effectively complain is by talking to management along with ideas to solve whatever problems they're complaining about.  That's true anywhere - regardless of whether you work at the local grocery store, bank, this industry or any type of job.

There are plenty of people at Transcend who have been on the new platform for several months now and they love it.  Instead of basiclly calling them liars or presuming they're in management why not get on the internal forum and ask them about their experiences in learning the new system.  The same would be true at any company.

Do you believe everything in these posts?!
People can write ANYTHING on here. There are some really hateful MTs who just want to cause problems and make others miserable.

I wouldn't take anything on this board for gospel truth, period! It's fun reading and sometimes can make you think about something but I would NEVER use it as reference or as a guide for my thinking about MQ or any other company! Please don't be upset by posts by God-only-knows-who with who-knows truth to them!

where it is explained. Pt in a nutshell is anything under 39 scheduled hours. Now you have to decide, do i committ to 8, 16 or 24 hour weekschedule?? Floating around when you want to is no more. But it doesn't say what to do ifyou sign up for 16 and want to do 20. You have to ask them that. It does specify that OT is more than 40 hours a week.
oh. ok. thanx. someone else posts as you
on MQ board and posts as if they work for them too, blasting everyone. just curious. thanx.
I can't believe the posts below,
the poster is just venting.  A good stress relief.  Why so irritable with each other.
There are still posts
If you archive there are still posts about them on here so I am not sure about what you meant by that. I do think they discourage from posting on boards but if it is anonymous no way they would know who did it. They want you to take things up with them directly but getting communication from them sometimes is like pulling teeth.
This is regarding those posts below....
I don't see what all the fuss is about, I heard back from them today and I'm all set to go!  There was about a two period where I didn't hear from them either and it turned out that they were moving from one office to another.  I say just be patient and persistent.
Not JLG but there were some posts further down or
now maybe on second page regarding their platform. You might want to either scroll down or go over to the second page

I always look through this board's posts when I am looking for a position. I have mostly found it to be helpful. There are a few occasions when I have read posts by an angry poster to let others know about their experience and I think that is very, very important, but would like the anger and rant left out. I have noticed that more positives and defending comments appear to be from from recruiters and others in management than from MTs.
That much??!!?? LOL! See below posts.

Where did the QT posts go?
It is funny that a company that has nothing to hide is removing posts.  Why are these being removed?
I have been following your posts and...
i think you made a wise decision.  you can email if you want.
where did those posts go
I came out to review the old posts on TT line count and they were all gone.   What happened to them?

There have been several posts about them
the last month - all bad.   They are an Indian run company.  I don't remember the other details, but there was not one good comment about them.
Why do all of the OSI posts
Other company posts are not removed. What, are people not allowed to know what OSI's record is? This is simply not fair to people in need of a job and fall for the OSi promise only to be taken by them. Please explain to everyone the reason for the post removal. Thank you.
and i e/m'd them already re the posts.

old posts
I know how to do a search, but my question is WHY???? Why do you feel it was pertinent to my question, which you did not answer. I was asking about an ongoing monthly charge and not a deposit.
There were posts saying
management was not liking the yahoo group too much although someone said management was posting.    Maybe it's locked.
And I keep seeing posts about how they pay
so well - Ha.  Their accounts are horrible and at 7 cpl you'll starve or go crazy.
Sorry, I'm still not sure which posts they are. sm
If none of those conditions were present, then perhaps it was just a server error.

If that is the case, there's not much we can do about it, so please do post them again.
Does anybody who posts on here ever have

a company they would just like to stay with for the long-term? This is a question which has been bugging me lately about these company and main board forums.

I personally worked for a hospital for many years, which downsized. Went through 2 years working for a service which fooled with my line count and benefits, and when I left there last year, I had a hard very year with services in one way or another not keeping promises.  Now I have finally found a position where I can say I plan to just stay put.  No it is not perfect. Yes, the work runs low.  But there has to come a time to put that resume to rest.

Is there anybody else out there who is deciding to do the same? I am not looking for pollyanna answers. Just another line of questioning on this board got me to thinking.

We are always complaining about how bad the pay is, how things are outsourced, how things are not the way they used to be in this business. I agree with all those things.  But I say I still have a job where as many are jobless in our country today.  I say I still have the ability to pay my bills. No we don't eat out anymore.  But with this job I don't pay for daycare, I can participate in school field trips, and I can take a nap now and then without any penalty to my career. I also don't worry about gas prices.

Post negative comments here if you wish.  Put in good ones. I just want to see if I am the only one on this board in the last 6 months at least who has finally decided to count blessings and keep my job and quit looking!

I have seen several posts that are quite
negative, however, I think it must be the account and/or manager you have. I work there and love my job once again. Good communication, 1 account, flexible.
Neither will I. What I am saying is that everyone can see these posts (sm)
I am not happy with American companies who offshore and I will not work for them. But I don't think it is right to insult an entire country over it. Be angry at the companies in the US who know better but do it anyway. Not the innocent people in other countries who work for them.
What's with all of your rah rah posts?
I've been with Webmedx a long time. I like the company and I DO find it believable that the recruiter would be honest with someone who described a situation of being a sole supporter of their children. That's a plus, capiche?

I've been sitting here reading lots of your posts and thinking you're not on even keel here. Like I said, I've been with Webmedx a long time and like the company, but some people ARE having very real problems. It's not that they don't do acute care, aren't willing to do ESLs, etc. You're painting everything with a very broad brush and I'm finding your posts don't ring true. I'm with the company because overall they're the best out there, but they are far from being perfect. Some employees are running out of work. Some are struggling to meet their line counts. Some ask for extra accounts and are told nothing is available.

My suggestion to you would be to get a little humility and realize that your situation is not that of everyone else. Quit shooting down people and suggesting they're lying just because they're having a different experience than you. I've been here long enough to see that there are many different boats afloat and the view looks different depending on which boat you're in. And it's not necessarily simple or even possible to change boats at Webmedx.
Rah rah posts
Again, you are being presumptive in assuming that perhaps some people DO NOT have any work, and again being presumptive by assuming it is because they don't want to do ESLs or different accounts. I haven't read a post so far that implies or suggests the poster no longer works here. Yes, please count your blessings, because someday soon you may not feel so blessed anymore.
