I do not frequent this board very often, usually with a cup of coffee on Saturday morning and do not post replies, however, I was compelled to throw in my 2 cents worth (not cpl) in response to this post.  I have only 15 years of experience in this profession - so maybe if I can make it to 25 years, perhaps I will feel as you do - though I highly doubt it. Why not give encouragement - most folks in management seem to have lost that gift.  Are you really thinking your comments are reflective of the majority of MTs.

As many, many MTs do, I log in every morning but only work 4 hours on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.  I do research as I transcribe and am still learning.  I take pride in providing quality and accurate reports and try really hard not to be influenced by the threat of company-imposed line counts required to keep my benefits and PTO.  I actually imagine I am in an office setting working a shift and take breaks accordingly though I am responsible for maintaining my office and computer and the expense that incurs.  If I am in a slump, I clean my desk, get a new plant or candle or take a walk.  I have to be my own support usually.  Sure don't get it from my coordinator and usually don't feel the love.  Yessiree, I expect to be paid fairly for my work and my experience and you bet I expect to be paid on time just as I would in an office.  I still struggle.

Do you realize or even have any inkling that your post only adds fuel to the flames of companies  that have chosen to use any excuse in the world to pay MTs badly and profess it is because MTs within our borders have a poor work ethic?
