OSI lied when a company I worked for outsourced to OSI and .......

In Reply to: They got caught lying about offshoring! - anon

The gentleman representing OSi was present offering five of us a job with OSI. I point blank asked the gentleman if OSI outsourced their work, because I did not want to work for a company who outsourced overseas. His response was, No they did not; however, if they ever felt the need to do so because a client specifically requests them to do so, they would have to consider the client's request. I had just cut out an article not three days before that meeting where an OSI executive stated they were outsourcing accounts to overseas. I did not have it with me because at the time of the meeting, we did not know that the meeting was to tell all of us we were outsourced, no more job, see ya or I would have shoved the article in his face after his answer. Of course, I had no intentions of ever working for them, but just wanted to see what people like that say when directly asked. Oh well, if that is how they run their business, it will catch up with them eventually.....

Yes, it is about the almightly dollar. I worked for a hospital who outsourced to Spheris
and the only reason was NOT because they could not find available MTs but it was because it saved them money from having to pay benefits etc..
they ARE the outsourced company
They are India based.
Isn't Wal-Mart the company that lied/replaced labels several years back with Made in USA? nm
,,
but mgmt told me they outsourced some work to a small company at times.

There is no reason for me to lie about this.

I am NOT talking about offshoring, but the company whom they outsource to may offshore . . . I have no idea about that.  But straight from the horse's mouth, they have outsourced to a small MTSO before.

You can notice how the work dries up all of a sudden when they turn it over to the service and we have no work.

TT mgmt may not tell that they outsource today, but they definitely told me about 9 months ago when I asked when the work was low.  From the way the jobs disappear occasionally, I think it happens quite often.

Me too.. the outsourced company was paid for and paid me for headers, but OSI does/did not.

A company is ONLY supposed to verify that someone worked there, what dates they worked, whether PT o
and last date worked. It opens everyone up to a lawsuit if more is given, so most companies are told by their attorneys and business advisors to verify only.

No one has a right to a reference, only verification of employment.
All the ones I never lied to !!!
x
lied to again
I'm IC, too. Your line requirement is 4000 lines in a pay period -- I was told a while back that ALL of the offices were going to require 6000 lines for IC's.
I have to say, though, I was never lied to by MQ

I'm not trying to start a MQ dispute here, I know this isn't the MQ board, but I left Precyse and went to MQ and I have been treated sooooo much better there and way more professional than I have ever been with Precyse.  Although, I think that any company would have treated their employees more professional than my supervisor.

I am the type of person that doesn't need my hand held, I would rather have minimal communication...BUT when I have a question and the lack of work is making my pay go to ZILCH.. It is their job to stop badgering me about line counts when e-mail upon e-mail was sent to them about not having work.

.. I bet you can guess my pay because this was my average 5 day, 25 hour  week... log on work for 20 minutes, but never more than 1 hour...no work the rest of the night...then hear about you have to make that time up  ..lol, when? I tried to get my schedule changed for that exact reason and was absolutely, flat out denied.

Like I have said before, I guess maybe it isn't the company itself, but the lovely supervisors that are hired that make or break your experience.

Again...they should not have LIED.
Not every MTSO requires this. If I am being hired to QA...then my QA skills should be assessed. If I was a poor MT I never would have been able to pass the testing. If I am a poor MT it will show in the work that I QA.
they lied. NM
.
They flat out lied to me then. They said
they do not get any kind of pay at all. Hmmmm....
Oh come ON! She lied her head off. sm
She lied on the boards right up to the minute the electronic e-mail came out that said she had sold the business. Good gracious, some people have a short memory.  And when she was in the process of selling, she was send out e-mails saying how sick she was of all her MTs and talked about their K-Mart clothes and Kathie Lee hair.  I remember those e-mails being posted.  Pretty bad.  LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE.
That is terrible, to be lied to and out of a job
At OSi I took maternity leave and they constantly called me to work no matter what I told them.
outsourced :-)
nm
They outsourced to TTS
and kept 3 in-house girls, two of whom are for sure quitting and the third quitting when the other two leave.
My job also was outsourced
I worked at a local hospital for 17 years to find out practically overnight that my job is gone.  I left before I trained my replacement.  No way was I going to train a company just so I could be laid off.  I was prouder than that; I resigned.  The reports are horrible.  The physicians are unhappy, and no they hardly ever meet their agreed TAT so I hear...  All the glory they presented to the hospital, and none of that has come through to be true; reports are incorrect even after they've been supposedly QA'd...  boo C-Bay - Boo!!!!!!!
The person that told you that LIED like a rug.
If you have it in writing, I'd turn them in to the FTC or BBB for false advertising. $30,000 is pretty respectable.
Well, think about it!! They lied to the MTStars Admin.
nm
The fact that the offshore and lied about it so they
could advertise here and when they were banned, they tried to hide their postings inside other posts and continued to post shows that the ethics don't exist.  I wouldn't need any more information than that.
Other than the offshore, lied about it and got caught you mean.

Are you referring to the same HR person who lied about
Look in the archives (9/05)for a series of posts about KS where several people posted that the HR person told them that she had worked there for X number of YEARS when in fact she had only been there a couple of weeks.

I was one of the people she told this to. I am also one of the people who waited weeks to be contacted AFTER I HAD BEEN OFFERED A POSITION. Check it out for yourself. I have no reason to lie. I don't think anybody else has any reason to lie. The person you are referring to who gave you the stats about applicants and testing has lied before.

I urge you to find the conversation on MTSTARS that I am referring to that occured in 9/05.
One more thing...they lied on their web site
When I applied with them, it stated on their web site that they paid for spaces. After starting work with them, I discovered that they didn't, and when I questioned them about it, they stated that they had changed their line counting program and hadn't yet changed the web site. Well, the last I looked, their web site said yes, we pay for spaces, so if anyone is desperate enough to go work for this company, I would make down sure it is in the contract what the time frame for payment is and whether or not they do in fact pay you for spaces. They are very devious at Rapid Transcript.
wow 10 minutes a lot of time. She could have lied to you said sure ...
was okay and then have it rejected once you go hired like a lot of places have done and will keep doing.

You are lucky she was trying to at least work with you.
Actually, it is my business, when I have been lied to in the past about (sm)
why I am getting a pay cut.

Also, if you are an IC, there is not unemployment tax, worker's comp and normally, there is no rent, because they work out of their homes.

If they have been in business for a few years, you can be sure that their equipment and software are paid off. Again, no expense. Most companies do not provide equipment anymore, just the software and that is recycled if someone leaves.

You are right, I don't have to be concerned if there is coverage for the work. What I have to be concerned with is if there IS work and if I am going to be able to pay my bills at the end of the month.

And actually, I think it is everyone's business working for an MTSO, to know what their company charges the client. Why hide it?

Transcend recruiter lied to me
When I itested, interviewed and was offered a job at Transcend, the recruiter proceeded to tell me about this really nice account.  Turns out it was an account that I had worked on at Medquist, and it was far from nice.  As a matter of fact, it was one that I recalled as being among the worst.  I called her on this, and she tried to take back and edit what she had plainly said.  I figured, if the recruiter could lie about that, what else was she lying about?   I declined the position.  So, beware....
Its really World War III here, War of the outsourced
Go get those scammers.
OFFSHORE (not outsourced)
nm
Not currently with them but did QA and they outsourced 18 months ago.
,,
20 years then outsourced
I am glad that you have not suffered financially yet. Trust me, there will come a point where you will.

I have over 20 years experience as an MT. I worked inhouse for over 20 years before they decided to close the transcription department. In fact, they wanted me to help train my replacement. There will come a time when you will experience the same thing.

The only people who are benefitting are the CEOs, not the MTs.

If this the first time you have been outsourced
so to say? It has happened twice to me, both times happened around 11 years. The first time it happened I was shellshocked, made a really good salary at this particular hospital (they finally went under several years later)and after hiring on with another hospital after about another 11 years again the same. Second time was not as shocking. I am finally in a happy time in my life so if this present job went out, oh well, I would not really like but at least have gotten old enough now to retire and fall back on social security only.
I wasn't outsourced...
... but my local job shut down, and I had to go to work for one of the large nationals, who all seem to pay a going rate within a certain ballpark. Now, mind you, I had an extremely generous local employer... but I took at least a 65 percent pay cut when I went to work for a national.

As far as I know, my new employer doesn't offshore any work, but they do pay the prevailing wages, which have dropped like a lead balloon because of the off-shoring.

For what it's worth. Don't know if that helps.
Outsourced means

it goes from the hospital to one of the many MTSOs that you listed.

Offshored means it goes to India and everywhere else.

Just to clarify.

Best company I have ever worked for, and I have worked for a lot!
I can't believe some of the things these people say here, and have to wonder if it just the same person or two bashing. I have been at MDI for four years and I do not have a low workload and I get treated very, very well.
Well, I guess I got lied to by the recruiter then. Nice.
nm
It is his choice who he offers what position to. He should not have lied about it, but I think
:+
Its not the war of the outsourced - its about MT companies scamming MTs - nm
f
My hospital used to, but then they outsourced. sigh. nm
x
Outsourced by a hospital in the 2000s
and saw where you think they should take MTs back in. The hospital where I last worked had to pay it all, benefits, PTO, pay plus incentive so why would you think they would want that amount of money on them again? Now I do their work but outsourced to a company. They pay the company's rate, then I am paid by the company. They have cut out the middle man (benefits and the like) and I would see no reason why they would ever want MTs back in the office because they are coming out cheaper. AS far as your advancing the causes of MTers, I do not see by these posting where you do that, just the opposite myself. You retired and others asking about taking a job for less than YOU think they should when they are the ones trying to make a living now instead of say retirement money and/or SS.
Are the Insight Radiology accounts outsourced
Lately NO work in there!
uhm......i was responding to what was in her post when said they outsourced to India.
nm
To those who were outsourced from Western Montana Clinic.

They company is hiring for in house positions again.  Maybe they shouldn't have ditched us all at the same time

Pretty much all the local hospitals around here have outsourced.
Apparently it got to be too much for them to handle or they just wanted to save money.
I guess if I got screwed out of my paycheck or got lied to by an employer I'd have a rotten att
This board is a great way to find out about an unsavory company before those things happen to you. If you think warning people about scheisters, liars, bottom feeders, and rip-off artists is amusing, time to double up on your meds, sweetheart.
Nope, the board administrator checked with OSI and they lied to her and got caught.

Mts have "personality disorders" ? Like, wanting to be paid what their worth and not lied to?
How about vacation? Bereavement leave and not losing benefits because your parent is dying and you miss a quota?

Or, how about wanting a 401-K and employer contribution? Or medical and dental benefits? Is wanting those a personality disorder?

Or, wanting to make production, but getting NO WORK day after day, or getting only the worst dictators?

Let me know where you work where it is perfect, because I want to work there, too. But, I also want benefits and vacation and bereavement leave and a 401-K, as a minimum, and I want steady work, like I am a steady worker, and I want to be paid what I deserve, and I want some good work along with all the crap.

Thanks. Let me know. ONLY a profession of predominantly women would call the other women crazy for wanting the basics. Sheesh. Again, email me with that perfect job, because I'd like to have one just like it.
I think it is. He worked for my company
and this is the name he went by.  Might not be his birth name, but isn't just an internet moniker.
How do you know? Have you worked there? Maybe the company

just expects their MTs to do their job. Ever think of that?

I ask because I have worked for the same company

for 15+ years, and I don't like the way they are conducting their business right now.  So, I ask.  I think, like everything, you can take it with a grain of salt, BUT when you see a consistent complaint, then there is cause for alarm.

I also want to know if a company pays fairly, keeps their word with regard to what is offered, if they have a high number of ESL doctors on their accounts, what type of transcription platform they use and is it easy to learn, and how quickly and accurately QA answers questions.

Those are not things that can be observed from an ad for employment and instead come from the people who work for a company or have worked for a company.

If this is the only company you have worked for then you don't know

there is any better out there.   I don't mean this to be ugly, but if you only have one year of experience you aren't qualified to be an editor, I don't care how good of an MT you are.  It just isn't enough experience and speaks tons for the quality of work that is produced.   Since I was also in QA I know the kind of work that is produced.   I've been in the business nearly 20 years and I'm still learning.

I was actually offered a management position with SS after working for them for only 4 days, so obviously I'm good at what I do and they had no complaints with me.    Everything I said is/was true.

They were the best company I ever worked for (sm)
I left because I needed benefits of an employee position. However, they were the nicest QA. They left you alone. They didn't have the nonsense I've dealt with at Webmedx. I would have loved to have stayed with them if I could have afforded to. If you get your benefits from someplace else, they're really worth it.

What others are saying about having a hard time getting hired on is absolutely true, however. They don't have a dedicated recruiter, but instead have an owner who is wearing many hats including that of recruiter. I had to message her several times, call multiple times, and really pursue it to get hired on. I was persistent, and later I was glad that I had been.

I haven't been with them for many months now. They were a bit behind with technology, but not the worst. Being able to work whenever you want is definitely a huge plus.

I would highly recommend them still. Just know you've got to be persistent to the extreme to ever get past the resume/interview/email stage.
