Scraps

In Reply to: How can you determine it was "scraps" without even trying it first? Perhaps sm - Helping, I hope

I know it was scraps because of the following:  They told me that he was unhappy with the services he had been getting from the other MT they had on the account (who did not meet deadlines, etc.), so he was justified in complaining about that and they were fixing the problem by asking me to take the account.  But, they also said that he was a complainer about things in the transcription which were misspelled (names, etc.), and he did not dictate the spellings.  They also told me he was very difficult to understand.  Plus, I had been doing his reports in training.  They were sending me some and had put his work in my queue before I told them I didn't think that was the account for me.  I hope you don't think I would have turned down the job before even hearing him dictate and knowing the situation and coming to a conclusion after much deliberation.  It was only when I said I would prefer another account, that they terminated me.  So, I think they were just angry that they couldn't get me to take on that lousy situation which would have been a complete stomachache almost every day probably.  I've had those types of accounts, and I was definitely looking for something better.

As for my management potential, I probably would make a pretty good manager.  I don't know about that, but I do know these people aren't good managers.  This company is so disorganized that I'm still getting e-mails from them about account information for this doctor or that doctor (sent personally from one the woman who was my direct supervisor).  I guess she's such a good manager that she is still sending me e-mails when I haven't worked for them in well over a week, and she was aware of that fact when I was terminated.  Definitely super managers at that establishment!   It is such a blessing to not work at that company.  No one likes to have any type of disagreement with a company, but I have such good work with the other companies I work for that that one just doesn't measure up.  Like I said, I don't like just taking whatever someone else doesn't want.  I like to have good accounts and work for good companies.  That's true of life, too.  You teach people how to treat you, and when you allow them to mistreat you or walk on you, or in this case, to just throw you what someone else does not want without at least asking for what you want, then that's what will happen in many cases.  I decided to ask for something better, and it got me terminated, but that kind of thing just lets you know that it's not the place for you and to move on.  And, really, I do have something better--it's just not with that particular company!  Everything's fine.  I just presented this situation to the board because I wanted feedback on ways to improve my job search in the future, and I certainly appreciate yours and everyone else's input.
