Will be my employer. I am trying to stay positive throughout the process, and not follow the rumors of paycuts, etc. on the boards. I will just wait and see what happens, and if I don't like the terms then I will look elsewhere.

The only thing I am upset about is possibly not working on Bayscribe anymore. Hope we get to keep using it at for our accounts.

Nice to hear that. I am starting
with them.  Do you have a steady supply.  Not worried about ESLs, do them all the time.  Are the rigid about the schedule (like MQ is turning into) or flexible. 
Nice to hear that someone likes this job. I have just started and so far so
good. It seems to me that those who don't like it may not have been meeting the criteria they require. They were very up front with me on what was expected and, as far as I can tell, as long as you do your job there shouldn't be a problem.
Hey, nice to hear from you again. I would say Encompass is a very good sm

place to work.  I wasn't working there full-time, but from what I saw, they have a nice benefit package, and the staff is very helpful and professional.  The only kinda scary part is that they require 99.5% accuracy (or maybe 99, cannot remember).  Fortunately, on my first QA thing before being released from QA, I did manage to achieve that (a little more actually), so I was relieved.  I guess I just do not have enough confidence in myself.  Unfortunately, they lost the account I was hired for, but they were looking for another one.  In the meantime, though, my personal life kind of took a different turn, and I ended up moving from Kansas to Colorado, so I decided one job was enough for now.


As for eTransPlus, they are also very friendly, although much more disorganized than some companies.  I was put off for a week and a half past the date I was hired to start, then when I did start, there were tech problems, then I did 4 jobs or so and ran out of work ... that kind of thing.  Again, when I decided to move, I just decided it was not worth the extra aggravation.  Still, I would recommend either company.


There are still some good companies out there, although I hesitate to comment since my experience is not recent.  I used to work for MDI-MD, and they paid VERY well at the time because you had to supply your own LD, and that was before the days of unlimited LD.  I had 5 accounts, so managed to keep myself busy, but now I read posts about people running out of work, so I do not really know.


I have heard good things about Axolotl, and I applied, but the only opening is 3rd shift with 80% ESLs, so I decided not to do it.  Their benefits are great, though - no deductible for BC/BS!  And there is a $500 sign-on bonus too.  Oh well ...


I talked to Acusis, and if you can overlook their heavy overseas connection, they have a nice benefit package as well.  The pay is so-so.  I guess no one ever pays me what I know I am worth. 


If you run into a company you are interested in, feel free to ask me.  I have been an MT for about 100 years now, so I might have worked for them!

All I hear is bad on Transcend,
would like to hear from MTs happy there.
How many positives are new?

Speaking to non-salaried, straight MT's now; no fair responding as QA, a recruiter, or those in special favor because of top production status, just your average to above average producer. Not that I don't aim higher, but average indicates the majority.


So, if what JMO said is accurate at all, the positive posts from newbies would only confirm what she is saying - that the newbies are "well-fed" with special incentives, higher rates coming in, etc., and the old are put out to pasture, despite skill level, tenure, or extra time given, unless you are a top producer, is that the general gist?


Any non-new, non-specialized averge to above average MTs that have been at Transcend a while with an overall positive opinion? And those of you who were not happy with Transcend, where did you go and why is it better?

can be found i'm sure in the searches here. It is a solid company with high standards and respect from clients and workers. QA is good and kind in delivery of comments. Decent accts. Good pay. Very standardized accounts. Simple platform. 24-hour window to work. You're left alone to do your job. You set your line count obligation, and if you get done in less than 8 hours, you can be done. No time clock. No hassles. its a breath of fresh air! in this MT world of ours.

I hope the company has changed for the better. However, I know that not too long ago, there were many problems at KS.  And I also remember that anytime someone posted something negative about KS here, the owner would get on and post under different names.  I wonder.........

the leave you alone.  I left because they do not budge from their pay which was kind of mediocre.  I would go back if I had to because they were extremely nice.

Any positives about Proveros?
All I see are negatives about Proveros.  Anybody work there that is happy?  Low ESL, plenty of work?  Anything?
Just because someone posts positives about a company....sm

doesn't mean they're in management, and you're presuming that someone who posts a positive is a manager is pretty ludicrious.  There are plenty of MTs out there happy with their employer... even some folks happy with MQ even with all of the legal problems that company has ongoing.


Unless someone makes a statement about someone in particular at a company that is completely false then there would be no reason for anyone to request a trace to find out who a poster is.  For example, on most internet boards anywhere you can say something like "XYZ company stinks" and be OK, but if you said something like "XYZ's payroll department paid me only a fraction of my earnings and failed to correct the problem" without proof to support your statement then you could be potentially held liable for posting false information.   If you did have proof of in this instance a payroll problem and proof of where it was attempted to be resolved then you'd be safe. 


There are plenty of positives with this company
and as always you should take negatives with a grain of salt. One person's experience may not be your own.

Quite the opposite. I have found mostly positives. sm
I started 4 months ago and so far, so good. When I was doing research, it seemed that all the negative posts were from the same 2 or 3 people, one in particular that harps on no raises and no OT pay. Everyone I have talked to at KS and other MT's that I know at KS all say the opposite is true; they do give raises and do not expect you to work OT. When the do ask you to, they often say holiday pay, which means 1-1/2 times your regular rate, just like OT pay. I did get my raise at 90 days, as promised. I do have the work I need to get the lines I need to make the checks that I need, so I am happy. The training was excellent, and the QA feedback helpful not spiteful.

I just got my card today, and it is still five days before Christmas.

You really cannot please all the people all of the time, even when it comes to gift giving. I am so surprised at some of these comments.

a difference, and many people have said they knew they didn't do well on the tests, but still feel like they should have heard from companies and haven't.

If MDI-FL is owned by Transcend and Transcend admittingly offshores, sm
then doesn't that make MDI a company that offshores? That's like saying that one branch of a company offshores but another does not, so they are excluded from the offshore label. If MDI-FL is part of Transcend and Transcend offshores, that means that they do.

Your hypothesis is incorrect. MDI is a wholly independent subsidary of Transcend, therefore, they were not a part of the experiment to offshore to evaluate cost/benefit ratio that Transcend only tried for 90 days (I believe the evaluation process is not still ongoing).

Regarding Wondering's question, the company I work for is investing strongly in upgrading its MTs' and editors' skill levels (exactly what this says about need for us for ten years down the road I can't say). This morning I found an e-mail saying they would pay every one of us to attend an on-line class on making Expander macros to increase our productivity. Amazingly, I have to assume many employees were choosing not to attend the unpaid ones they had been offering...
It is not Transcend. Transcend has not had control of
the accounts long enough to make any changes to anything. Maybe your account just slowed down like a lot of others did over the last few weeks. Everything will run status quo for a few months before any major changes are implemented. And give Transcend a chance. It is a good place to work and you will finally have some benefits that you will enjoy.

full-time referral!  The trick there is the new employee has to be meeting their minimum line requirement by 90 days. Good luck!

I have talked to Jean M. a few times already.  I just accepted their offer Friday and wanted to be sure I understood what they had told me.  What they told me sounded very good.  I am looking forward to starting.  They are going to let me work a split shift.  I am on evenings now with 2 little boys and it makes it hard. 
They were very nice. sm
The two things I did not care for was the unlimited long distance, and their software Bayscribe.  Even though it was easy to use, the spellcecker is way too outdated.  I did not care for that at all.

I agree. Based on the writing, wording used, and the same old themes used over and over, it really does seem like the same couple of bitter people complaining about OSi. I don't know what has brought them out of the woodwork all of a sudden. Doesn't really matter to me. I'm happy there. I'm not a newbie, wasn't when I started, and have been there 3 years now. I hope to be there for a long time to come.

for most of the ER MTs and for most of their acute care MTs so we could get a general feel for what can truly be achieved. I have also heard they have several platforms and wonder which ones are the most MT friendly.
