MANY of their accounts are still on Lanier. I should know. I'm on one of them. As a matter of fact, at least six clients are still on there, if not more.

There are e-mails from the owner daily asking people to stretch. There are demands for weekend work STILL. The recruiter has been know to say that SHE is the one true authority on QA, often defying what both the client profile and the QA feedback say.

I'm curious if you're just trying to keep people from knowing the truth, as people are leaving in an almost a mass exodus. Damage control, perhaps?

This looks like exactly the same thing you put there. What, you didn't insult enough people there? Come over to the company board to try to hurt more people who are worried about their incomes? Sick stuff. Get some help.

Yeah, I got my 1099 too.  It included the couple of thousand dollars for invoices that she's never paid me for.  She really deserves her due now, doesn't she??  On the bright side, maybe the IRS can do something with her.  Cuz I ain't paying taxes on that money she's never paid me.

to these companies (few, if any, are 100% honest, it seems), are going to be honest and tell you anything that isn't rosy and sugar-coated. Having a good prospective MT walk because the company isn't so great means less green dollars in their bank account every month. They're not going to tell us anything that DOESN'T make them more money.

How about making a Transcend board?
One was made for MQ employees to kvetch and whine and share information so it wasn't overriding the Company board.  Couldn't you do the same for Transcend?  It's worthless to come and read nothing but post after post whining about the Transcend/MDI plight.

the original poster just asked a simple frigging question! I used to work at OSi and I know who he/she is referring to. JP was a nice lady, and someone I learned a lot from, and maybe she just wondered if she still worked there.
Many people come to this board to find out
have had with MT companies that they may be checking out or applying to. I personally appreciate any information that I gain from this board and from the experiences - good or bad - of anyone who is kind enough to post that information before other people have a terrible experience with a company like not getting paid, like getting ripped off, like being lied to, or otherwise. I've also found a great transcription job as a direct result of the positive comments made about that company on this very board. If you want everyone to post nothing but positive comments, what is the significance of the Company board?

Who died and left you in charge of being the posting police?
And you trust the people on this board?

There are a lot of angry people on this board, but some of us here
are professionals and it is very difficult to read boards with the amount of unprofessionalism we see on these boards. I think we can expect it from some MTs in our field but when the companies come and act totally unprofessional I believe that is where we should take it that that company will be no different if you work for them.

Guys, I haven't even been here in several weeks, I have more to do lately than sit around here. Someone just wrote me and let me know I was being accused.


I'm really sorry that people believe that I'm behind everything, that's so paranoid and ridiculous and more evidence as to me having done the right thing.


If you actually read my posts, you can see that I never once bashed Transcend, I just said that I used to love them and was no longer happy there and wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way, and was trying to do that on here so I WOULDN'T stir up trouble within the workplace.


I'm sorry you think it's the same two or three people, but the fact is, I didn't know how JMO was and she didn't know who I was until AFTER we started posting.  There were only three people at most whom I had ever discussed things with, one of which is happy with Transcend mostly still, but that's just it...we DISCUSS things rationally and we listen to each other, weigh the pros and cons given our individual situations.


Management has now seen every post that's ever been on here made by me, and even THEY say there was nothing negative about them in particular, they just deleted one particular post that revevaled who I was, and the worst one was towards Michelle, which I apologized for.


If people are using me as some sort of scapegoat, that's unhealthy and a little scary. Grow up and stop playing the blame game, it's a waste of time and unproductive, and just fix the problem.


Scapegoating one or two people based on wild assumptions is proof positive to me that I have done the right thing.


There were worse posts than me on this forum about Transcend before I got here and there were worse ones after, and in fact, the two sides (and the middle people like me - which I was, in fact) shared and laugh and it was over. Give it a rest.


Say whatever you like, I'm for freedom of speech, but please stop dragging me back into it...I'm gone and I'm happy, end of story.


I sincerely wish you all well and I'm glad you're happy...if you're so happy, why keep this game going?

When we get on this board and complain about our line count at SoftScript we get immediately told to go away.  Our lines disappear day by day.  Yet, any post for OSi or MQ seems to stay.  We are people with legitimate gripes too (not to).  Yet, we in turn get told to find a new job while you people continually gripe about your companies stealing from you.  Try getting your lines taken away from you on a retrospective day to day basis and see how you like it.  At least your lines are still there the next days, ours are not.  WE HAVE A RIGHT TO GRIPE TOO.

Its why people complain about negativity on this board
Some people want to think that the people posting negative things here are just malcontents.  Sometimes, when a person speaks the truth, half a dozen other folks jump on to say its not the truth and everything is roses and rainbows.  Usually the truth is somewhere in the middle.  But some people would prefer to believe the sunshine being blown you-know-where by recruiters because they want to think they have lucked into a goldmine.  Well, its a crap shoot - maybe you did and maybe you didn't.  Each person's truth is going to hit them only after they are working the account.  So if she only wants to hear about the rainbows, let her have her fantasy.  Reality will come soon enough when she gets no paycheck.  Then she can pay her bills with all the rainbows.

they send work overseas.

If you are asked specifically to work extra hours to help get an account caught up, then you will be compenstated at an OT rate. However, you cannot just work as many extra hours as you want without being asked to do so and expect to automatically be paid at an OT rate. If that was the case, everyone would be working a hundred hours a week.

attack people by name.  In Lee's defense, she has over 200 people working for Keystrokes now and accounts in a lot of different states.  As managers, we have started taking on more of the day-to-day and HR and the clerical staff take care of the transcriptionists.  It is a hard thing to learn as an entrepreneur but delegating is very important.  We are finally seeing her do this, and things are much smoother.  One person simply cannot do it all in a company of this size.  I wouldn't want to own my own company for that reason.  The hours she works would kill me and I would be divorced.  The constant travel of this year would cause most people to take days off after each trip, but I have talked to her hours after she got in from a one-day trip for a meeting to sign a contract and while tired, she is still out there making sure that our jobs are secure.


No one was out to get you or to mess up your life.  I am sure that there is more to the story than you are saying but I find it hard to believe that you were ignored.  I personally talk to each person hired for one of my accounts and make sure that they have all that they need. 


If you came during a hectic time and felt you were not treated fairly, on behalf of the company, I apologize.  However, and this is not an excuse, with the growth that Keystrokes has experienced, there are bound to be hectic times and bound to be changes.  I, for one, am glad that the changes make Keystrokes a better place to work.  I hope that someday Keystrokes replaces MQ and Spheris at the top of the national companies and know that if they do not, it is because they refuse to compromise and hurt the transcriptionists. 


Life is about choices.  Mine has worked well for me.  We should all help each other rather than carry around so much negativity.

I was talking to the younger people on this board basically
because I am seeing where people are sitting here actually waiting for work to come in while they don’t have enough money for their bills, no money for food, no money to survive on. Why in the world if you are younger do you beat a dead horse so to speak because this profession is steadily going down as it is and if you don’t have money now, do you think over the next few years it is going to improve? I have worked most of my years in this business away from home. I had children but years ago we were not given the choice of working from home, imagine that! We probably then had more of a family life than what I read on this board now with people saying in order to squeak out a living they are working 24/7. I have probably worked more than most here but when I had jobs outsourced from underneath me I had no option to sit and wait for work to come my way. I went and found more. There is a simple solution but most here just seem to complain and do nothing except go right down the drain.
I guess what you make at Transcend is based on what you made when you came on board, 8 cpl here. sm

I guess since the last 2 companies purchased made good cpl Transcend is willing to pay them what they made, really not fair for others only making 8 cpl, but I guess they gotta cut corners somewhere in order to keep the new Transcenders happy.  I think you all are getting the best deal they have to offer.

Didn't you read where they send out threats of termination if line count not met YET YET, the MTs don't have the work to GET the line count and they know it, were told that.

We are *asked* to clock out if we're going to be away for more than 15-20 minutes. I have NEVER had anyone call to find out where I am or what I'm doing. I have never known anyone I work with who has had that happen, either.

I flex my schedule regularly just by doing so and keeping my supervisor in the loop.

I'm currently working for Landmark and have had a serious family situation occur and had to go to part/part-time, and my boss and the company have stood behind me!  They've been considerate, kind, and patient while I work out some issues and get back on my feet.  I can honestly say that I'm proud to work for them as they treat me like a human being.  Additionally, they have never, ever not paid me.  How unfair to come on here and post such garbage!

I have been there for a while and NEVER had ANY problems with getting any days off I needed. They are VERY flexible as far as needing off for various reasons. Yes, they are picky about quality, and as far as being chastised about making mistakes that has definitely been taken care of. The platform isn't as bad as this poster is saying. Just a someone who is bitter who couldn't hack it there. I would never dream of working at any other place.

There are so many hits on the job board for jobs that I wonder if people are qualified that respond
or just send in a resume if they are not.  Would be interesting to hear from some of these companies what type of response they are getting.

The reason is that a lot of MT's have had bad experiences EVERYWHERE they go, if you know what I mean. They then bash the most recent company over and over again.

The same few people seem to have worked everywhere and have something bad to say about every company.

Take everything with a grain of salt on here. It is a gossip board.

The only ones to believe the negativity about are those that do not pay or bounce their payroll checks.

The rest? Well, most are decent companies that might not be a good fit for everyone. There is not much difference between all the bigger ones except whether they send work offshore or not. Otherwise, rates are similar, benefits are similar, work load is similar.

With this economic crisis that the entire world is under, we still have jobs that are fairly secure. We have jobs that pay more than minimum wage. We have benefits, unless IC status. We have good work environments, do not have the risk of losing an arm, leg or life in a piece of machinary or being blown up in a mine.

Yes, there are companies that do not pay. Yes, there are companies that do not pay more than 6 cpl, but we have a CHOICE on who to work for. Don't work for them. There are plenty of good companies that treat their employees well.

Christmas bonus? My husband was laid off last week from a job he has had for 27 years. That was his bonus.

Unemployment is at record highs, prices are at record highs and it does not seem to have an end in sight for many years.

Perhaps a depression would show Americans that nothing is free and people would stop standing with their hands out all the time.

As a society, we have come to expect everything to be handed to us. As a transcription professional, it is disheartening to see all the angry, bitter, hateful posts here all the time.

Transcription companies face the same rising costs as every other company out there and I am sure they feel the crunch too, but they are not telling this every second like other industries.

I am not an MTSO, not a manager, not a troll. I am just an MT who is grateful for her job and skills that will allow her family to survive this crisis without scars.

Offshore comment untrue
I currently work for this company, and they absolutely do NOT offshore. HQ is, in fact, in Clearwater florida...

The reason they are always hiring is because they currently have several large accounts and more come in all the time. it really is a great company to work for. i have been with them for several months and could not be happier.
To the people at Transcend that had their line rate reduced by 40%, have you checked with any
attorney to see if this is legal. I didnt realize a company could just reduce your income like that with no advanced notice and that be legal. I know I would be checking with someone on the legality of doing that.

No, I do not work for OSi however, as a medical Transcriptionist with 20+ years of experience and QA experience -- I have seen and heard it all -- "I cant work weekends because I want a 9 to 5 job, I want to make 100,000 a year because that is what the ads promise  -- I think that I can stay home with toddlers, and post on these boards all day"  Truth be told, it's a hard profession  -- the doctors names are not given, if you work for a compay in one state and live in another, you have to do the research  -- these advertisements that are on television promise a wonderful salary, BUT.... you have to work your butt off to get that salary  -- I have, as many of the OLDER and SEASONED MTs have seen a change in the "work ethiic"  You want to be able to have your cake and eat it too  -- MT is NOT an 8-5 Monday-Friday job -- I work for two services and am STILL barely able to make ends meet  - its not India, its not the Phillipines or anywhere else -- its learning the English language and THINKING for yourself once in a while -- "gee I can't find this or that" well, its a sad statement on our society, because when I learned to spell, I learned with phonics -- another thing that I had an advantage with in this field was that I sang from grade school and college and if I didnt "understand the translation" then I was lost  -- its NOT only typing -- its getting off boards like this and LEARNING something instead of "griping and complaining"

If they HAVE work the people complain that there is too much work and if they DON'T HAVE work the people complain. Obviously the people complaining about TT not having work haven't got much experience working as an MT. You can't go out and get more work just to compensate for the slow times. TT usually has plenty of work...the hospitals get slow from time to time....DUH! It always gets slow this time of the year with the doctors taking their last vacations of the summer, people in general taking vacations,etc. Give up...go somewhere else if you don't like it. Leaves more for us.

You have posted several things on here about what a hot mess. You are saying you are not doing. How do you know what the platforms are like and how it works? Gosh, I thought you were trying to do and coming up short, did not know you are not working on it.

I'm not going to bash you at all because I feel the same, and you're post helped me feel better about tht. I've been with MDI for 15 years (OMG!!!) and just feel so overwhelmed right now at the prospect of having to start over completely. I've been moaning and groaning to DH about this for days but today I'm putting on my big-girl panties, as they say, and am trying to find a new attitude. Who knows how things will work out, but I've got my fingers crossed and am saying my prayers! I know it's not for everyone, and for those who are moving on, I wish you all the luck in the world. Each one of us has to do what's we think is best. I'm going to try to start thinking positively about this and you never know, in the end it could be a good thing. Putting on my Happy Face now!

Come on now.  Have you stayed in the same MT job from day 1??? I honestly doubt it.  So truthfully what is the difference between her signing on multiple at one time and deciding after that or starting one, not liking it, ditching it, starting another, and so forth.  No difference really.  Other than that she knows she won't keep them all.  But another point is that the companies can afford to hire as many of us as they want at one time because it's not costing them any more (other than bennies IF they even offer bennies) to have 10 of us to do the job of 2 MTs or just having 2 MTs.  So more power to her!  Get real here!  It's time the tides were turned.

by supervisors is not about the transcription quality at all, you know, what we were hired and paid (albeit poorly) to do... it's about the B.S. demographic crap, et.al, ad nauseum, stuff that is not our job in the first place, but the hospital's.  T
