Do you mean to say you have medical insurance etc??
Thanks for any information.
Medical Insurance

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a company that has medical insurance for its employees.  The company I work for now has just screwed us on the medical insurance and I am looking elsewhere.  Thanks. NM

Medical Insurance

I just want to remind everyone that the insurance coverage with a a company is very important, especially when single.  Do ask about the deductible.  Due to medical crisis, I faced 10 grand in medical bills which only added more stress to a very stressful situation.  And, that basically takes 10 thousand off my yearly income.

Good insurance coverage means so much, especially when there is not a secondary ins. in place.

Just wanted to share this.  :)

I don't take the medical insurance either BUT
Their other benefits are phenomenal.  They provide LTD, STD, flexible spending account, 401K with match and they pay your vision insurance for the family.  They have an awesome PTO rate and you get paid for downtime IF you run out of work, which doesn't happen very often.  I can't remember the last time I was out of work.
Is the NWU offering medical insurance again?
I had great insurance at a great rate through them years and years ago, then they dropped it because the cost was prohibitive. If they are offering it again, I applaud them. They are a good union and very unconfrontational, well spoken (guess that's a mute point, eh?) but still don't have the big bucks it would take to promote the MT industry on the level that is needed. Almost every American MT would need to join and NWU would need to find a lobbying group to help.

Employee Medical Insurance
Are there any national companies that pay the full premium for employee medical coverage or is this only offered if you work outside the home?  Thanks.
How are the medical insurance rates?
Did they go up too? They were interested in me a couple of months ago, but I did not call them because I had already picked someone else. I know they are great, but did their insurance rate for employee and children, or family go up like everyone else? I am considering contacting them again. Although I don't want to change jobs at all, if their rates are good I won't have to spend most of my paycheck on medical. Please someone let us know here. It is an important issue!
Zylomed Medical Insurance
Can anyone who works for Zylomed who has employee status give me some info on how their medical insurance benefits are?  Thanks!
So if you have a medical claim, the insurance - sm
doesn't pay anything until you've forked out the first $2,000? That's appalling!
They don't pay for vision unless you have medical insurance.
When I first started they paid for vision, but unless you get medical coverage it is no longer free, unless it changed with the enrollment that is going on now.
Medical insurance isn't about feelings. It's business. nm

Keystrokes is hiring. Can anyone tell me how much for their medical insurance benefits etc...
I am looking for a FT job with good medical benefits for either myself or family coverage. They are seeking ortho MTs and that is right up my alley. Thanks in advance for any help.
How is Transcend/MDI's medical insurance plan for employees?
Thanks
MDI-FL. thinking of applying. Is medical insurance still high? That is what has stopped me before
I cant remember what the cost was but it seemed to be be high for single and family coverage. Anyone know?
Thanks for your honest reply. Unfortunately, I have also worked in the medical insurance billing
side of it and I see how our prices go up and how the insurance companies pay the doctors less and less, yet these insurance carriers gouge people with their ridiculuous preminums. I understand insurance companies having to raise rates due to skyrocketing health care costs but the kicker is the insurance companies are only allowing a fraction of the billed charges anyway. If they were actually paying out all these claims at full, I could understand the rise in preminums. Well good luck to you and do not think about it, pooping blood does not sound healthy at all and would call for a colonscopy and then a huge bill and then another rise in your preminum.  Vicious cycle I tell ya.
Isnt their family medical insurance kind of high. I think that is
why I passed on them previously and they only wanted to pay 7.5 cpl for 12 years of experience.
Survey - What type of medical insurance does your company offer?
Just curious about which company you work for and what type of medical insurance they offer.  HMO, PPO?  Cheap or expensive for you?
I agree. As medical insurance biller/coder/transcriptionist
I agree with the other poster. You're better off going with a group plan than on your own. Largely, because you pay the same premiums across the board as everyone else on your plan. When your on your own individual plan, I was scared to use my or have a new diagnosis because come renewal time, your premiums are adapt to go up staggering and there is nothing to can do about it, other than drop them and then you are in a worst situation. Yes, group insurance premiums usually go up every year but it's nothing like what will happen to if your on your own. Also, you do get a contracted adjustment based on your insurance's contracted allowable rate. Say your visit is $100 and the contracted rate/allowable through the insurance is $75, that means the doctor has to write off that $25 according to their contract.
Is there anyone else struggling to get the lines needed at Transcend for medical insurance? sm
Or is it just me??  TIA
MDI-FL. Last time I checked their medical insurance for families was expensive. Has that changed or
is it supposed to. I know at one point a recruiter told me they were working on making it more affordable but I never heard anything more. That is a big factor for me. I need affordable insurance for my family. Thanks for any input.
Heard Keystrokes was getting better benefits, medical insurance etc.. Anyone care to elaborate? I
ready for a change.
Transolutions? Anyone know how good their medical insurance benefits are, costs, etc..specifically
family coverage. They say you only have to work 32 hours to be eligible so I'm curious what their benefits are like. Thanks
Medware- Ballpark figure for cost of their family medical insurance. NM
nm
lol, that was on purpose.
I'm not that dumb.
What is the purpose of your post?
nm
What's the purpose of them wanting
you to log everything?  Like country below, I always just jot down as downloading, but it sounds like maybe you are doing something a little more extensive?  If they require it to get paid, I guess you don't have much choice...but if you're talking major log keeping, that would take up a lot of time   I've just always done it for my own peace of mind, actually did have incident of DQS some time ago not counting a report I did, had to contact supervisor and got it corrected.  Also many years ago with MQ in the old days before DQS, there was some glitch happened, and I was very luck to have the job numbers, as I had to tell the person calling me late at night what jobs I had done...
The purpose of "nm" is so we don't have to look inside.-->nm

I thought the purpose of this site was

to be informative TO MTs and not AGAINST MTs.  If you are an MTSO who is getting bashed, well, don't you have the same right as the owner of this site to go out and form your own site/blog to bash anyone you want?  That's off topice anyway and wasn't what I meant when I posted.

People can say negative things about MTSOs (and the other way around) without it being bashing.  For example if someone asked about company X and I had worked for them 2 years and I'm in the process of leaving, I could perhaps say (as an example), I felt the initial account/platform training I received was inadequate and that kept me from meeting production minimum until my ? pay period.  That isn't bashing.  That's honest and if I say it was 2 years ago, the reader can inquire during the interview process about the company's current training procedures to see if it has improved during those 2 years.

Wouldn't that hep both the MTSO and the potential MT be successful earlier in their relationship?

I can't help wonder if that e-mail was accidentally on purpose.nm
nm
Raises were not the purpose of the meeting.... sm
Did you not hear it said that prices are down 25% overall in the industry over the last few years? How can a company give you a ____ cent-per-line increase if the industry prices are down?

Did you not hear about the technology they are implementing to help the MTs increase productivity?

Increased Productivity = Increased Paycheck.

Overall, I came away from the meeting with a very good feeling. I'm sorry if it was not the same for you.
Sorry to offend, but the purpose of this board sm
is to ask questions and discuss things about the different companies we work for without getting our supervisors or leads involved. If I would have wanted to ask my lead I could have, but the reply would have took a lot longer given it was late at night on a Sunday, and I was wanting a reply right away.

I sorry you feel it is inappropriate to discuss what day we get paid on a public board, but I don't. Oh well everybody has a different opinion. Maybe I should write a letter to Emily Post to see I have broken some ettiqute rule, lol. Sorry MtMommomyof2, but seriously get over yourself (don't think I am bashing or anything, though) This is a public board, where the public (and yes even KS'ers) can post any question they like so long as doesn't violate any posting guidlines set forth by MTStars...not you.

I specialized for years, not on purpose....
... it just happened that way. I spent the first 36 years or so of my career doing strictly clinical; only moved into acute care 8 months ago because my beloved oncologist boss of nearly 28 years closed his practice, and I still needed to eat now and then.

In addition to the oncology practice, I did (and still do) orthopedics for many, many years as an IC. So I have well over 20 years in both those subjects. When you work with few docs, you get to where you can do their work on autopilot, very, very quickly.

I got paid more but that's only because those were local accounts, with the pay commensurate with the cost of living in our area. In fact, if I didn't still have that one local ortho account, I wouldn't be able to live on what I make on my acute care job for a national.
I think I made a valid point. What is your purpose in
My point was that a lot of recruiters will talk up their company when people looking into them inquire about them.  They're not supposed to do it, but it's done all the time.  Anyone who is seriously looking into a company will know exactly where to contact them and TO contact them.  Someone asked a legitimate question and got a rude reply from you.  You got called out and you don't like it.
And if you do this, deleting the report defeating the purpose
of VR being taught how to do a report so you would just have to keep it up, not a wise thing to do. Delete at 4 cents, type at 4 cents. I would think most places would not be accepting of this practice.
I cannot imagine what purpose you intend to serve by this post?
No wonder companies want to go overseas. I wouldn't hire the lot of you anyway with these ridiculous attitudes, slamming, and incessant back-biting.

It is apparent that US MTs are just not worth the trouble. The overseas MTs will do this work WITHOUT COMPLAINT.
The purpose of this board is to share info about MTSOs...

I simply don't understand why MTs post all these negative things about a company but will not divulge the name of the company or even give us a hint!  What are you afraid of?!?!!?  They are already screwing MTs over and probably you too if you're angry enough to post!  You can post anonymously, that's the beauty of this particular site.  No one need know who you are.

I, personally, keep a list of MTSOs and things I've heard about them.  God knows I've been through enough bad MTSOs, I want to save other MTs the heartache of going through the same crap I've gone through!

Besides the best way to get these MTSOs to change is to post their name on a PUBLIC forum.  Word of mouth can be a powerful thing!

Here is a list of companies I have worked for and the problems I have had, starting with the most recent:

JLG --> paid payroll practices, LATE pay checks, and discontinuation of direct deposit.

Focus Infomatics -->  they offshore the majority of their work, they lie about offshoring the majority of their work, they lie to their employees about pay, hours, and job status and breach contracts left and right.

TransHealth -->  I have nothing bad to say about them.  Pay always on time, people nice (they have since been bought by Webmedx).

Precyse Solutions -->  Nothing horrible to report.  If I recall, they didn't pay for templates, but they told you that up front.

Medquist --> horrible people in supervisory positions, very cliquish company, bad dictators on all my accounts!

Webmedx -->  The account I was on was completely and utterly horrible!  Other than that, nice people, very organized.

Accutype --> complete embecil in charge (when I worked for them) who knew nothing about transcription or the needs of MT, again very cliquey with friends giving friends the best work.

Diskriter --> ran out of work frequently

I also worked for several small MTSOs that were either bought or went out of business, and I will say it usually was the smallest MTSO that I enjoyed working for the most.  I did work as an IC for a company out of Arizona doing radiology a few years ago for a while (I can't remember the name, but I don't think they are around anymore).  Also I worked as an IC for Administrative Advantage out of Pennsylvania were pretty decent, easy accounts and easy to make money, used DropChute to deliver dictation and reports back and forth and you just typed in one big docment per dictator in Word.  Simple, straight forward, and always on time.  If you ran out of work, they would try to put you somewhere else, but never made any promises.  I like honesty and they were honest.

See how easy that was.  You try!

professionable -- thats cute- did you make this mistake on purpose or really think that is a word?

I have never heard professionable before.  lol

401k funds are protected by govt insurance similar to the insurance
that banks have (FDIC). It is safe even if the company goes under.
The insurance cost is double for Transcend but insurance probably doesn't factor in for her.
I have heard more good things about Axolotl than Transcend, although it seems Axolotl may be less flexible with your schedule and someone told me that QA was pretty strict, which should not matter either if you have worked for a hospital and know what your QA score is.
The insurance plan in my opinion is excellent insurance. I am not sure if it will change when it'
time to renew or not. I really hope not but I know that a lot of companies change every year in an effort to keep costs down because most insurance companies start raising rates after you have been with them a year. The insurance is Great West and they also have excellent dental and vision plans. I believe the cost is less than $70 a pay period for the employee.
Insurance sucks compared to my old insurance... sm
The insurance seems like they don't want to cover anything, even simple prescriptions I used to pay 4 or 10 dollars on I now pay 20 to 43 dollars.  I like the company/people so far, just don't like the insurance.
Insurance Questions: Can you tell me what you pay for insurance through your

MTSO, which MTSO it is and whether the coverage is decent?  I currently pay $92.00 a pay period for decent coverage but am trying to figure out if I am getting a good deal or if I could do better elsewhere.

TIA.

You may be better off going directly to the source, so to speak. I do not have the insurance, but I have seen the rates, and they are reasonable, even affordable! I believe it's through either Blue Cross or UHC, or it may be both, you get to choose.  Anyways, I do get the eye insurance for my family, which is at no cost to me.  As I said before, your best source is to ask MQ itself.  Good luck, and don't count MQ out just because of all of the negative posts on this board! I'm very happy w/them, and have been for over four years now!
MQ insurance

I don't know if it's still the same, but when I worked for MQ, I cancelled my insurance and went to IC status when the family coverage went up to $900/month.  I asked them how could that be with the largest transcription company in the world, and they claimed it was based on the area I lived in.

Insurance
They don't let you go, they make you a statutory employee. If they let you go, then they would put themselves in a situation to where they may have to pay unemployment. If they move you to statutory and take all your benefits, then they don't have to pay your insurance or PTO days. Working off the clock is just free labor for them. So basically, it is going to benefit them either way.
insurance

I carry myself and my husband and it costs me between $30 and $40 monthly.  This is for an HMO.  I think they told me  the PPO was between $80 and 120 monthly, but the HMO had more providers in my area so I went with it.    There were several choices between HMO and PPO.  Like I said before, this will vary depending on which hospital.  I work for a hospital in PA. I'm not sure about details for the Florida hospitals.

For the insurance directly through Diskriter (if you work for them directly),   I think they quoted me around $300 a month for two people.

PT Insurance
There is a company in WI who offers insurance at 30 or 32 hours a week. For the life of me I can't remember the name but out of Waukesha, WI. Hopefully someone can jump in and give you the name.
PT Insurance
I keep wondering why more companies don't offer an option like the hospitals where you pay a little more as PT, but can at least obtain insurance as part of their group. Or for that matter, why AAMT cannot offer a group option for insurance for all the ICs, etc.
insurance
You get to choose full time with benefits, full time with limited benefits, or part time.

Now, tell me about the insurance. I may sm
still look into this.Thanks!

Check with IRBA on the internet. It is a group for small business owners and then you get a group rate. You join IRBA and then there are different insurance companies.
