I wasn't being cold, simply matter-of-fact. sm

Posted By: Confetti on 2007-10-26
In Reply to: Aside from the fact that you are right, was it necessary to be so cold? - Why am I so surprised?

My own reproductive history isn't a factor in my opinion. In the list of medical procedures, some things are necessary for life, others are not, they are elective.

Medical insurance exists to protect you against catastrophic financial burden due to unforeseen medical expenses. IVF is personally chosen, it is 100% elective, and it is done only to satisfy a personal want.

Aside from the fact that you are right, was it necessary to be so cold?
If you have never experienced infertility, you should just keep your mouth shut. Sorry, just my opinion.
I know, that wasn't the point. It was simply the play on words....
......simply the play on words in the Google blurb that fit the situation, not the whole related article.
Yes, as a matter of fact I do. sm
I haven't worked for MQ, so they, indeed, may be better than MQ. However, I have countless accounts with Webmedx and still run out of work. I can do all work types. I bounce around on many accounts. I am completely out of work some days. It usually picks up later, but who has the kind of life that they can be around all day waiting for work to trickle in? And bouncing around on many accounts costs the MT.

And there are plenty of similar opinions if you simply look over the archives.
Yep, as a matter of fact
we had plumbers who were on call, had to call them one night with burst pipes inside the wall somewhere, ceiling was falling in above.  Also had to call them out on Thanksgiving day one year after our pump got backed up in the basement guest bathroom, very bad mess (lived in the country then and they were kindly asked not to put ANYTHING down the toilet but the toilet paper provided).  Plumber pulled out the pump and hauled it off clogged up with Tampax and cig butts, yuck, guests were a little embarrassed to say the least.   Needless to say, that little episode cost us about 1000 bucks there.  But guess what, they charge a pretty penny for these services, rightfully so, and although it set us back at a bad time, were glad to pay the extra cost for their STAT service after hours and a holiday.  I know I always got paid well for being on call for the lab, nights and on holidays, althought as an employee.  I wonder what would happen if I would say as an IC, my services will be such and such on Thanksgiving or after 6 p.m. or whatever.  I still haven't been able to figure that one out!   I know with one company I first started with told me I had to work every holiday if it fell on a day during the week when I was scheduled, end of story, so consequently, being naive, I did just that for 2 years with no extra compensation and usually no work.  Sorry for the rambling, just ruminating on exactly where do we stand as ICs as compared to others, such as plumbers, and what is right and where does it cross over the line and what should we as MTs be doing about this, or is too far gone?
as a matter of fact...
I do. If the work is low, I try very hard not to take more than what I consider to be fair and to leave work for others. I see people scramble to get it all and the quality of the work suffers because people are in such a hurry to get everything they can that they are rushing around and thus making more mistakes. And I for one am sick of selfish people! What makes you think you are more important than anyone else?
you said it GP! Matter of fact, the sm
company that I got laid-off from on Monday apparently reads this board. I got several e-mail messages from the supervisor of Milner. If I were an MTSO I wouldn't give it a second thought, but apparently posting on this board really bothered her and she let me know it. O well, I didn't do anything but post the truth and if they don't like it, then I guess maybe they need to clean up their act!

I guess this particular MTSO saw someone posting the truth and for whatever reason, it really bothered her and isn't even the owner! Just a supervisor.
Katie is still there, as a matter of fact
Katie's husband is the account liaison for one of the accounts. Katie is in recruiting now.
I agree. As a matter of fact,
I do believe that I recognized the very ad you are speaking of as being a company called Intellitype??? maybe (something like that). Anyway, I had wondered why this ad did not state the company name, and it seemed a little fishy to me. Although it occurred to me later that I had seen some negative posts here regarding that company, so perhaps that's why.
As a matter of fact, I'm out of work
right now. It happens everywhere occasionally. Only thing I don't like is, whenever I ask for a backup, I'm told that work is low across the board and to flex. I've seen people on here say, all you have to do is ask and they give you a backup account. Hasn't happened for me.
The fact of the matter is that they don't care about ALL MTs..
I know. I tried it, and it just didn't work for me. While I respect your right to be a cheerleader for this place, *you* should also respect the right of those who just don't or didn't like TT and are sick and tired of hearing about it. Yes, we can skip over the messages, but this board is starting to read like a novelette with pom-poms flying in our faces. The fact that we don't or didn't like TT shouldn't be characterized as being a incompetent MT, either. I'm QUITE the opposite, just tired of their favorite pets games and unfair workload. Let it go, PLEASE!
Matter of fact he threw that in the newsletter yesterday
said that a client asked for offshore work and they complied.

I can't believe any client would ask for offshore help as anal as they are about US MT's.
As a matter of fact, it did. Several sentences "complete with big words and all!"

It wasn't rude, just stating the facts, which doesn't seem to matter apparently to you.
nm
That wasn't my experience there. I wasn't on that kind of all-inclusive acct, either. nm

You must have a cold then. I am not now, nor have I
ever been an MTSO.   When I first joined the work force I worked for a company that was part of 2 different unions.  I did the payrolll and saw how much money the men paid in union dues.  I also saw them be involved in a strike and saw how little money they got from the union.  I also see the company bring in nonunion people to work.  The strike continued long enough that union benefits had run out, so the men had no source of income at all.   I don't call that progress.
found them to be hot and cold -
Do not have time to play head games with people. Waste of my time and energy.
HEY COLD HEART

What makes you think think I am suddenly trying to fix it?  You must have a pretty hard life, or maybe too good of one to have that kind of heart.  This isn't new, this is something I have been working on for some time.  And, you know, I could tell you about the fire and the parents and all that, but you don't deserve it!!!!

Wow! That was Cold and Heartless
I am not in any way, shape or form a supporter of AHDI. In fact I despies them. I think they have sold this entire industry down the river.

I should be surprised that they treated you in this horrific way, but sadly, I'm not. They are all about money and padding their own pockets.

I did happen to get a very small raise when I got my certification, certainly nothing to write home about and certainly nothing to compensate for the expense of maintaining their credentials.

I just did it to see if I can accomplish it. I don't know if I will bother to keep it up either.

I'm sorry you had that experience at such a hard time in your life. I think we both agree that AHDI sucks...as in the loud sucking sound from dollars leaving your wallet...
Yep, it was cold and heartless
which was pretty much the tone set by the original queen bees who set the organization up eons ago. As a Californian, I saw first-hand the shenanigans. I once went to one of their daylong seminars at a hotel in Berkeley just to give them a fair chance. Guess what the presentation was? Some plastic surgeon who gave a thinly-veiled infomercial for getting your boobs done. That lack of professionalism, coupled with the coldness and heartlessness they showed to a friend of mine, was enough to convince me that this was not a group I would want to give any time/money/loyalty to. I didn't, and I have been just fine.
It'll be a cold day in July when that happens.
.
Groan. MT'ing has become such a cold racket. nm
nm
On a bed of nails, honey... they don't care. Cold as ice! nm

Just be sure to also get therapy for your cold and thoughtless nature. nm

They will pry my expander out of my cold dead fingers.
And THEN they'll find out what Cranky REALLY means......
The above post is the most inconsiderate, cold-hearted, not to mention ignorant piece of work I'
Do you even have a clue as to how much one cycle of IVF costs? Try 15K to 20K and it takes on average three cycles to achieve conception...if at all. How many people do you know wait until they have $20,000.00 saved before starting a family? Get real.

Not that it's any of your business, having a child was not a mental issue for me. I initially didn't feel that it would be necessary to share the details of what led up to our infertility because I didn't see the relevance. Infertility is what it is. However, if sharing the details will prevent you or anyone else from drawing conclusions and posting abrasive half-truths, then here goes:

My husband, against my wishes, had a vasectomy when our only daughter was 3. Coming from a big family, I always wanted at least two children. Long story short: We went to Texas for the first reversal and Arizona for the 2nd (5 years ago). We spent our entire savings, which was close to 20k and both surgeries failed. My daughter prayed for a baby brother or sister every night. I had this tremendous burden of guilt because our infertility was self-inflicted. I knew she would never be a big sister or even an aunt because of our selfishness.

Infertility in and of itself is traumatic enough, but when it's self-inflicted, the guilt can be overwhelming. At least it was for me.

There, now you have the facts. However, if you find it more entertaining to post over-the-top fabrications about my complete lack of control and severe mental issues, as you called it, knock yourself out.

I have been pretty honest about my personal life and would appreciate it if you could just answer 2 simple questions.

(1) Dou have any children?

(2) In your opinion, do you feel that insurance companies should cover the cost of elective abortions?

You can just answer yes or no. I'm not posting anymore on this thread so you won't get any arguments from me.
This is a fact and you might as well accept it for what it is -- FACT !
It would be a sevice that uses ExText, such as Keystrokes, and I don't know who else uses it.  I would think that Keystrokes is as big or bigger than TT now, however, wouldn't you?
And I was simply pointing out that saying
you weren't a recruiter.  I didn't say you weren't a happy employee, most recruiters are, and so are employees that get referral bonuses.  In fact, I didn't even say you were a recruiter.   IMO, it could have been just as easy and more polite to say, No, I'm not a recruiter than to give the snide, condescending remark, now wouldn't it?
Yes, I am. And simply look at the archives. nm

I personally would take the $15 simply because
production-based work stinks regardless of how easy and how many normals there are. Production is never going to be a salary you can count on. Go for the $15. I sure would.
I don't think anyone has attacked you. You are simply

I was simply posting that
I was hassled by an MT who was fired. I could care less about your know-it-all antics. I'm over 30 and too old for your immature crap.

LOL!!
I was not IC, simply helping out
my local hospital when it was swamped with work, and agreed to help, at $1 per dictated minute.  WONDERFUL $$; I could type off at least $130-$140 a day, and over 20 minutes an hour.  It really is worth it, but ask for at least $1 per dictated minute.
This is simply not true. nm
There was never a time that they could not meet payroll due to not having money in the past 6 years. When they first started out it was tight, but they are a huge company and I have never had a problem. I worked in the office for a while. They have a line of credit and never have to worry about that.
I am not a bully. I'm simply trying to tell the OP

to do something about her situation instead of whining about it and posting on here that there is no work and looking for pity.

There are plenty of companies hiring.  What's wrong with google?  Ever heard of that?

Geez - try to help someone and you're called a bully, Grinch, and told to go away.

So what does the OP want?  Because at this point, I'm clueless as to what she would expect with a post like that.  Almost any company on here would kill for a 3rd shift MT.

Simply trying to follow along here.
So what is the real concern in security here? I work with Escription and nothing is stored in my computer, download and upload each report to the company.  Most infringements are most likely occurring only by an MT who does not understand and practice confidentiality or HIPAA guidelines in this case mentioned originally.  We have been warned for years an MT can lose a job by any infraction, but this is a perfect example of that happening after the damage is done.
I think it's simply many people do not have
enough money to go around and simply don't go in for medical care. At $20 a visit copay for internist, or $40 for specialist, then the prescription, many people can't afford the copays, especially if they have children.

Our good sized hospital is slow, as are the others in town as well. People just dont want to come in and have major procedures done and end up with the copays of hundreds of dollars.

I think people are prioritizing; feed your kids, keep a roof over their heads, or run to the ER for a case of the sniffles.
Nothing to feel sorry about. You simply got an offer
"too good to refuse"...Happens to me all the time whenever I interview for several positions, and they all have understood, as long as you're just honest. Sometimes the company you end up rejecting tries to match the offer of the better company. Then you realize how you needn't have felt bad - the original company would have, or could have, offered you more, too!
Mostly, I simply ignore the "trolls"..don't need em...nm
x
I simply asked her what the reason.. sm
..was for her post, to find out her motives, and to hopefully help deter some MTs from divulging more information than they should about themselves.  You never know on these boards.  So I feel that you insulting me was unnecessary, not my question to the OP about her motives.
Do you think Acusis may simply be a 'front' for what is really -
?
US companies are in India, not simply SM
subcontracting, they are established as companies in India. Large companies. And there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Simply put & point being - no different than a med student

Am I the only person who is simply grateful sm
to be employed? Wow. I don't understand why so many people feel entitled to a bonus. Back in the day, yes, it was much more common to get a gift or a bonus (esp if you worked for a smaller company) but now, with the economy as it is? I'm just happy to have a good, stable job. Count your blessings and don't envy what you don't have.
A former colleague went to work for them - said it was simply
I won't be more specific except to recommend that you pass on this one.
No sore spot at all. I simply do my job,
get my lines and hours in without much trouble and don't fret about who's getting the gravy work. I get along with my lead and supervisors well. I can do any report that comes my way, even the ESLs that others continuously skip over or suddenly lose their connection when they see the name or number. Simply do the job I was hired for, collect a nice paycheck and when my day is done I don't think about it again until the next day.
I know people there who need to be fired and they won't fire them. That just simply sm
is not true.  They are a very nice company.  They have benefits which include PTO and sick time.
She is here to slander a good company just simply
because they decided to change their mind on an MT trainer position calling the owner a liar. How sad is that. If she only knew the owner and what a good woman and professional she is.
the OP did not badmouth; simply asked questions.
nm
Wow....calm down. She simply stated it wrong..
All you have to do is say don't you mean...

Take a Xanax lately? Just a thought.
I simply send back a reply to
all political emails to ANYONE that thinks I don't have the intelligence to form my own opinions and say return to sender.  Some have definitely stopped.
That's simply not true - the policy is if you are documented OOW sm
you are not required to use your PTO. Whoever said that is wrong and you should go higher up the ladder to ask about the policy.
