Whoa. Back up here just a minute.

http://www.socialsecurity.gov/pubs/10120.html#proof

Read the website info carefully.

If you are okay with any stranger having proof of your identity, your address AND A PICTURE ID, go right ahead and fork those babies over...no questions asked. A word of caution. Those two documents are really everything that anybody will ever need to steal your identity. The picture ID is icing on the cake. Sound paranoid? Not if it has happened to you a time or two. It's been done to me 3 times in the past 15 years. It is a really creepy feeling and a HUGE hassle to undo.

The only legitimate documents for proof of citizenship are U.S. birth certificate, a U.S. passport, a Certificate of Naturalization or a Certificate of Citizenship.

These new rules they talk about have only been effective since sometime in 2006. DL and SS prove only you identity...unless of course you are younger than 1-1/2.

You probably cannot avoid giving your SS#....but I agree with the other poster....copies of the rest of it only if you are hired. If it were mean, I would not hesitate to ask them exactly why they need them.

WHOA! Let's back up here. First off, I don't post anywhere....
like I "do here" until somebody keeps trying to dig. I thought I was plenty clear in my initial post that I am flexible on my hours, working when the work is there and asking for different accounts as I said. That means that when the OT is there, I don't shy away from it and am willing to work when the work is there to be done. I do NOT take work away from other MTs. If the work is low, I work my regular hours, but in this business the work is so fluctutant, especially at this time of the year, that it's rather easy to get the lines "with flexibility."

If I came off as "with an attitude," it was only because I felt YOU were trying to find out if I was one of those who "steals" lines or in some way trying to find out more than I felt was yours to know. I Just thought, however, that my initial post was pretty concise.

As I stated earlier, flexibility of hours, plus a LOT of shortcuts and whole texts into the shortcut file helps. Familiarity with an account always leads to higher lines. There is always a learning curve for any job or any account and its dictators, so that is definitely a factor. "Ruth" who posted above summarized what I had said in my initial post and that I thought was clear.

It really boils down to the basics of being a productive MT, I suppose. Is this what you want to know?????????
I e-mailed them and responded back almost immediately, offered low pay. 45 minute interview. nm
nm
1.70 regular minute, 2.25 stat per minute. sm
I do all cardiology.
Whoa there.
Relax. Please don't midunderstand. The comment is not directed at you personally and not intended to impeach your sources. I was simply trying to express great surprise that your research on this site or any other would turn up such negative press on such a good platform. Did not mean to imply otherwise.

Don't think that the substance of my post lies in the that silly opening comment, but rather in the review of the platform. Of course it is not a company, but the platform is used by a company that is currently hiring at at time when some of its people are low on work. I don't think it is completely unrealistic to suggest that work starved transcriptionists might try to keep their own territory secure. My message is meant to encourage that person or anybody to feel free to pursue work with any company that uses it with confidence that they won't regret it.
Whoa! Huh? 700 lph at 12 cpl!?!?

Whoa!
I think she meant because you stated if you stayed in your seat meaning you are glued to it.
Whoa!
Sounds like they should be top of the list for the Hall of Shame!  Seriously, we need one these days!  Time is money, and it takes time to sift through all these crappy companies!

Yikes!
WHOA!!
That is downright stupid of you to say.  Must be a newbie.
Whoa......
No warning, no nothing? She just sat there and timed how long you were you gone with the potty/coffee break, and fired you, just like that???? OMG, that's absolutely crazy!!! For all she knew, you were desperately trying to work through the stomach flu and had been in the bathroom vomiting that entire time.

That's just fricking insanity.

Sorry you lost your job, JM0405, but I've no doubt there's a more appreciative gig out there for you, like one that doesn't time your potty breaks!!!
Whoa....
A bit on the nasty side, aren't we?

While I certainly don't advocate patronizing payday loan places as they're notorious for overcharging on interest and becoming a habitual practice for its patrons, I also don't condone telling someone that their problem boils down to 2 issues, black and white, and to 'stop whining and work.'

Honestly, do you have a crystal ball and know what the OPs situation is? Do you know that she doesn't have issues that include a terminally ill parent/spouse/relative for whom she cares and counts on a certain payday for a specific reason?

Yeah, I don't know if she does or not, either.

Maybe she's a diehard spendthrift.

Or maybe she has financial issues that the rest of us have not been cursed with.

You sound like a very bitter person, and I certainly hope if you have children you're far more compassionate with their issues than you displayed with this OP.

If you were trying to win some dubious award for nastiest post of the day, CONGRATULATIONS...You win.

How pathetic some of you are with your judgments and put-downs. I can only imagine how utterly miserable your lives must be.
Whoa...What???!!?? English please?

Whoa people!
Group hug!
Whoa...thanks for the warning! nm

WHOA NELLIE!
Back in the day. I wasn't even an MT Back in the day so I doubt seriously I am frozen there.

someone finally lets loose, do you not read this board very often? People on here let loose every day!

As for this hyena standing up for what she deserves (and I feel safe in thinking I speak for a few of the other estemeed hyenas) I would have stood up LONG before anyone owed me 5K!!!
WHOA!!!HUGE RED FLAG --- SM
They would have known WELL AHEAD of time if they were upgrading the direct deposit. Something is going on with the finances of the company. Now, have they made any comments about paying people for bounced checks and such that will occur because of this lack of notice? If not, get the hell out and don't look back! Also, print out the email that says they were upgrading in case you need it for court documentation
whoa - that just may be a troll post.....sm

as I know it, the MT work coming out of India is sent to 3 doctors in India who sit in a room and proofread ALL India-MT work........saw a program on cable TV.....and this work is proofed before it comes back to the US.....

Whoa, please be very careful. Their ad is very unrealistic
nm
Whoa, I meant Transcend
NM
Whoa! Where've you been? This board was
positively crackling with anger over all of Acusis' MT's getting a 10-15% wage cut. We all got a phone call last Friday. Maybe they just couldn't get to everybody in one day. And she conveniently didn't mention it this morning in the meeting. Since they do a pretty good job of keeping us from getting in touch with each other (unless you want to do it on their totally monitored company email), you should check in with this thread on MT Stars DAILY. It's the only way we all have of comparing notes.
WHOA, TRANSCEND DOES NOT ALWAYS PAY FOR SPACES
It depends what account you are on. I'm on one that DOES NOT pay for spaces. It depends on what they agreed to when the account was set up with each individual hospital.
Whoa, 18 days of PTO? Really? I'd sure like to hear the details on that. nm
nm
WHOA! Could this be a scam to steal personal ID???? nm
???
whoa what kinda mistakes are YOU making?
You work that many hours and I am sure there are a few screw ups here and there in your reports from tiredness. I mean even your posts are very hard to understand.
Whoa! That's one of the strangest policies I've seen
They make you list 3 places you tried to look up a term? That's just plain nuts. I wonder what their turnover rate is.

Thanks for the info.
Whoa, you TOTALLY misunderstood my post
Calm DOWN! I meant to ask your company only allows you to type 1200 lines a day? I would never do what you're accusing me of. Slow down and consider that before you blow your top like that. I was sympathizing with you, not trying to tear you down. Geeze!
Whoa..been years since they've been mentioned! Is their website current?

I worked in QA for Transcending back in 2000-2001. They were paying hourly back then. SM

The accounts weren't too horribly bad.  The reason I ended up leaving was because slowly but surely they began to inch closer and closer to paying QA by production.  When I first started, the quota was something like 30 reports a day.   We simply had to make sure that we QA'd all reports that were close to being out of TAT first and then do the rest.  Then, my supervisor left and they hired a new one who immediately called a big teleconference meeting and said we had to up production to 60 reports a day.  Then, they started counting lines.  Which was fine because they were still paying hourly.

Next, there was an MT who used VR software because she was blind - yes blind.  Again, when I first started, I was told we had to edit her entire reports because she used the VR software and we had to make sure that everything was correct and made sense.  Then, we are told only check the blanks.  I wasn't comfortable with that and I continued to completely proof every word.  Then I was called on the carpet not because I wasn't meeting the production quota, but because I was ONLY meeting the production quota.  I told them I was proofing all of the MT's work that used VR, I was told that no one ever told me to proof every word of the VR reports and that I needed to fill in blanks and move on.  When I voiced my concerns, I was told that was my job, to fill in blanks and I should move on and strive to product above the standards.  Next thing you know, rumors abounded about changing the QA staff to being paid on production.  So I left.

There just seemed to me to be too little concern for quality and more emphasis on quantity and I just didn't want to be part of company who would take money out of my pocket just to line their own and that's what they were doing by putting QA on production.  I also am not comfortable with the job of QA being thought of as a blank filler.  There is much more to the QA profession than just simply filling in blanks.

I don't know if Transcend ever did start paying QA by production, but I could see that the idea was being floated there.  Maybe there was a enough protest that they didn't change from hourly.

Good luck to you!

Phoenix Medcom- Another apply a few months back, ask to take a test and never heard back??
I applied a month or two ago, received an email from someone asking if I would take a test and said she was getting ready to go on vacation for a week, so I hurried and immediately and told her I'd love to take the test. I never heard back. I waiting thinking she went on vacation and would contact me when she got back to do the test but nothing...very strange..Just wondered if this happened to anyone else.
Has everyone heard back from Keystrokes yet regarding the email we received a while back?
Just wandering why I haven't heard any response yet.
I sent them an email back in August and never heard back sm
Is this company on Long Island? I checked out their website and even tried calling once. Were you successful in contacting them? All i know is that the company is owned by some doctors.

Hopefully, you will hear back. Unfortunately, I immediately heard back from MD-IT
but somehow with over 16 years of experience, I blew the test.  I was soooo disappoionted and yet pretty stunned.  I am by no means perfect but I haven't flunked a test in years.  I expected it in my early years but not this far down the road. I was so confident and they will not tell you which part you did not pass and why so it really just blew my mind.  I must have been in shock for like two hours after I got the email. Oh well, someone will want me....hopefully.  I was thinking about OSi but I don't think I could take another rejection if I never heard back.
per minute

I get paid per minute of dictation.  $1.00 to 1.35 per minute.  100-120 minutes in an 8 hour shift is average or 16-20 minutes of dictation per hour.

pay by the minute
I also used to work this way. I worked in house by the hour and we had a quota of dictated minutes we were supposed to meet. Then we started doing it at home and were compensated by the minute. It was awesome! Unfortunately they went with voice recognition and it came to a tragic end. I still miss it. I get paid by the line now and make probably a third less at least than back then. So very sad. Anyone have any idea if this company is hiring for radiology and what they pay per minute? TIA.
minute nor
too heated.
If pay comes out to 1.00, or less per minute is very low...sm
1.25 and up would be good pay per minute... and 200 per day if quite a bit to get through on an average. Good luck!
Pay per minute...
I work for a hospital that pays us per minute of dictation.  It is the entire dictation, whether the doc is sitting thinking, talking to someone else in the room or whatever, a 14 minute report is billed as a 14 minute report.  The pay scale I make is $1.30 per minute after 450 minutes, under 450 minutes $1.25 per minute.  I am sure the hospital itself charges more than that per minute, so I guess it would depend on whether you have your own account or are considering working for a hospital or other company.
Pay per minute...
It is absolutely more lucrative than by the line for me anyway. I almost went bankrupt working for 8 cpl.
More like $1.00 - to 1.25 per minute
Keep in mind the 3 x rule: For every minute of dictation, it takes roughly 3 minutes to transcribe. So if you want to earn $20/hr (example) you have to charge $1.00 per minute. If you factor in even 5 minutes and hour for taxes/interruption/breaks etc., you need to bump it to $1.25 to clear $20/hr.
It says pay is 0.85 per minute.
Seems kind of low to me.
By the minute vs. cpl.......
I was at a meeting the other day where 2 docs were discussing paying their MTs by the minute versus by the line.  It was the first I, personally, had heard of such a thing.  The more I thought about it, the more appealing it sounded to me to be paid by the minute, particularly after I had to listen to a resident literally eat their way through a 37 minute dictation, which ultimately yielded me only about 62 lines.  I was furious!  I would have at least been paid for my time on that report had I been paid by the minute to transcribe it.  I am sure it all balances out in the end, whether one is paid by the line or the minute, considering some docs fly through their dictation without even taking a breath or bothering to enunciate or structure an intelligent sentence.  I would love to hear from any MTs who are, in fact, being paid by the minute.
Pay per minute

I would appreciate information from anyone who is compensated per minute of dictation.  Thank you.

$1.00 per minute
I have worked like this before. The operative reports you get will be between 0.9 to 2.0 minutes and there will be 30-40 lines for one report. You will go broke.
minute pay
I once worked for a company that paid by the dictated minute and I really liked it. Seemed like a good way to pay. The company had a pay scale so that the more minutes you typed per week, the more per minute you got. The bottom line, of course, is how much will we be paid per line or per minute.
That's too low for per-minute pay.
Think about this: A 3-minute report, say you get 1-1/2 to 2 pages. They would pay you $3. There could be 50-80 lines, which at 8 cpl would be $4 to $6.40. A dollar a dictated minute is much too low.
Not at $1/minute.
x
by the minute...
i do legal by the minute and it generally takes 2 to 3 times the amount of time.  So if you get an hour of dictation, it's probably going to take you 2 1/2 to 3 hours to do it, depending on the dictator and sound quality.  Could be more, but not usually less than double the time... hope this helps!
per minute pay
Try and figure it out this way....60 minutes of dictation will take apx 3-4 hours typing...so hopefully that will help figure out per hour.
That is low 1.00/minute is even low..
which would be 60.00 for an hour of dictation..
Hey wait a minute....
This all originally started way down below with a positive post about Transcend in answer to a question about the company.  Then, the naysayers hop on and start blah blah blahing all over the place.  So, I believe the trouble started at your door.
Pay by dictated minute.
What is a reasonable pay for dictated minute?  What is reasonable to expect to be transcribed minutes of dictation in 8-hour shift?  Anyone know?
Okay, wait a minute
Well, you know, now that I check out my first apology, I see I didnt apologize before to you, just JMO.  I thought I had apologized to both of you.  So, I am also sorry if I said anything that hurt your feelings.  And thank you for  your apology also.
