MTs working for offshorers will eventually be let go
American MTs working for them now, gives those companies time to develop their Indian resources and once the Indian MTs can pass muster, the American MTs will be looked at as high overhead and they will be eliminated in a heartbeat.
Must we choose either 8, 16 or 24 hours. Why would they want someone only working 8 hours a week.
That is less than SE are required now.
Yes ago I was working for a home health
care agency and they tried to initiate EMR.  This was 15 years ago and I didn't know what EMR was at the time.  It was a no go.   Recently had an appointment for my son with a specialist we saw for the first time.  He was so busy filling in the blanks, that he barely even looked at my son and sort of having a limb missing or having green skin I don't think the doctor would have noticed any issues.   If they want EMR I don't have an issue with that, but why not just have an MT transcribed document uploaded into a databank?
Anyone working for Transform, how's their health ins?
What is the employee's cost for single and/or family coverage? TIA
And you'll need every min of those 12 hours (sm)
when lack of work and platform failures, plus reading the nonstop company emails, make you unable to earn your lines in a more normal amount of time. Friend reported them to Dept of Labor because we were essentially working for less than min wage, being tied to our computers waiting for work (employee, not IC). Last I heard, they were investigating.
univ health care is a scam. its not working
well anywhere in the world.
popping in here...
I did the test for them, and waiting to hear results.  I didn't think it was too hard.  I am curious to see what they will offer and I told them what I needed.  This kind of work is time consuming to do and should be paid accordingly.
I lacked 5 hours for the last week. Think that'll be okay since
work was low? I was going to make it up Sunday, but work still low and didn't want to take from the scheduled folks.
seriously?? My opinion: if you are working that many hours
and can't get enough lines to make more than 700 bucks every 2 weeks?? you really are in the wrong profession. That is a really, really sad line count ... either that or you get paid .02 a line or something. good grief. I'm making 120 bucks a day easy in an 8 hour day. Also -- are you REALLY working 10-12 hours or are you fiddling with other things and if you added it up, you are actually TYPING 2 or 3?? be honest with yourself.
You're working all hours
to make up yours but taking work from those scheduled to work. NOt that I blame you, we all need what we need, BUT WEBMEDX - YOU HAVE OVERHIRED!!!!! I don't like having to fight people for my work. As soon as I find something else, I'm outta here. Over 25 years experience down the tubes!!!
T-C - full-time is 1000 lpd along with a "rough estimate" schedule of what hours you'll wor
It's pretty nice.
a window doesn't mean working less than say 7 to 8 hours a day, sm

it means breaking up your shift over a 12-hour period or whatever period the company offers.

Why are you working 60 hours, when you can work 40 at Amphion?
Just curious as to why you would continue to work 60 hours a week, if you can work 40 hours at Amphion and make more money? Why have you not gone full time with Amphion? Again, just curious. I do not want to start anything.
Yes. I earn almost $40,000 working 32 hours a week. nm

Anybody here working second shift hours at Oracle?
I see a lot of negative regarding this company and am wondering if the work load is consistent when working second shift hours there.  Thanks much.
No, you'll be allowed to continue working for well below what
you're worth with crappy benes, working holidays without holiday pay, getting cheated out of your lines, getting paid less and less every year, etc.
I make about $1,500 a month working about 20 hours per week.

Believe me, I'm not bragging or slamming anybody at all.  No way.  I'm frustrated with my own income because I'd like to make more.  I'm willing to put in more hours to do it, too.  Honestly, I'm not that fast.  I have one very small local account and one small MTSO I subcontract for.  None of it is verbatim, it's clean up the grammar as you go, which totally slows me down.

I won't work for a national any more because I couldn't make enough money there.  I wasn't willing to tough it out for three months until I could make their line counts, especially when they had me on their worst accounts, pools of hundreds of dictators per hospital so I couldn't use my expander, and a new account every week.

I've said before that if I'm going to do MT, it's going to be on my terms.  I won't chain myself to a desk or be "on call" all day long waiting for work to come in.  Nationals don't pay you to sit there and wait for work.  That's bull.  Being on call IS working.  Other businesses pay their "on call" people at least minimum wage.  They skirt around the issue trying to use SE and IC terminology, but it's just a way of paying us less to be at their beck and call.

Don't give up on MT entirely.  You'll find your fit.  It just takes some searching.

This thing about working 40 hours for benefits is garbage.
So if I do my usual 20,000 lines a pay period but only work 30 hours, I lose my benefits, but a newbie who takes 40 hours to do 12,000 lines gets benefits? This is insane. I've enjoyed working for MedQuist, but between this lousy new platform and stinking corporate rules, I've had it. My notice goes in next week, and I'm going back to school this quarter to become a P.A.

I've been working 5 hours and it is still only showing 250 lines. It will
come up eventually correct, but seems to take forever.
A company/MTSO can offer an IC a job working certain hours
that they need coverage, and it's up to the IC to agree to working those hours, or not take the job.

If you hired an IC to repair your roof, would you want him working daylight hours, or since he's an IC can he work on the roof from midnite to 8 a.m. if he wants?
Workload has reached a manageable level with everyone working scheduled hours.
Voluntary OT is still available on some accounts.
at that rate, working acute care, I would do $28 an hour - but I only work 6 hours a day...
Like she said, you just have to be able to utilize all your tools and be at it for years - it comes eventually...

I actually make $33.00 an hour though because at my production tier I make 10 cpl a line.
I don't think we work at the same place, but I have been working lots and lots of hours.
Very thankful to have a decent job.
Eventually...
they are eventually going to change everything over to Triton and voice, but all of my accounts are on the same platform now (Extext). The pay is going to be 4 cents....no way near worth it for me. I can type most reports myself just as fast as I can listen to it and edit it so that means to make the same I'd have to be able to double my line rate...don't see that happening.
then I am going to aim to work for them eventually
Then I am going to aim to work for them eventually, ASAP. Excellent benes and computer provided, sounds awesome! Thanks for the info. I will be aiming for that.
What goes around will come around and eventually your clients
They see that all the other doctors are hardly paying anything per line for it and they'll expect you to adjust your rates accordingly. This is precisely what happened in my area. All the doctors started thinking they should get bargain-basement prices because they could use the threat to send it offshore. So wallow in the green while you have it, at the expense of your offshore workers (and hey, if they're truly so great, why not pay them US rates and really do something really noble to improve their lives?)

You might be helping the economy in third-world countries (they'd starve w/o you?! Get over yourself!) but you are INDEED helping to lower ours here. You can justify and deny that all you want, and frankly, I don't care that you sleep at night. The fact that you are here defending your stance so vehemently tells me you know deep down.

You can also claim there are no good workers here, but you're wrong. We just don't work for MTSOs with your attitude. And guess what? There ARE plenty of doctors that DO care where their work is being done. You might have found a few who don't care (if you truly told them), but that's not par for the course in most places, my dear. Most ESL clients are the most adamant that the work be done here because the US MTs are the only ones who could clean up their grammar!
Do you know if they have plans to eventually sm
start up SR on the DocQScribe accounts?
it will change eventually when the sm
companies get tired of the crap being pounded out in India. Then what will happen is the MTs who have hung in there are the ones who are going to have the jobs. It won't be the entitlement crowd or the whiners.
My 2 cents on whether my pay will be cut eventually
From 1991-97 I worked for a small company that was bought by MQ then (97-98). MQ took a long time to make major changes (except they cut pay for QA by $4 almost immediately from 20 to 16 per hour), and I mean YEARS. I believe this was because they had gobbled up SO many small to midsize companies in a span of 4 to 5 years (the company I was with was the 14th or 15th company they had merged with since 1994). So, as I said, no immediate changes that affected me personally. I had a great transcription supervisor, and actually asked for a raise that year 97-98. I was raised to 10 cpl. Over time, one of the things MQ did was try to standardize all of its companies slowly but surely to all one thing. At first the allowed us to remain SE (you pay some of your taxes)... then IC (you pay all of your taxes)... did away with bonuses that I had had with original company. Years later, you all know MQ forced everyone to become employees, no longer offered IC status, enforced strict scheduling and punching a clock and no overtime at all unless approved. I'm assuming it is still the same, it was when I finally left in 2007. I will say that I did not get a pay cut directly from MQ, but, in essence, received one when they did away with a tiering bonus program.

I took a lateral move at 10 cpl. What amazes me is that this is a great cpl for here and now, but the reality is is that I have been making the same amount since 1997. Twelve years with no raise, no cost of living, and prices of everything including my health insurance (individual policy) have shot through the roof. And to be faced with the choice MDI made for its MTs - to have to negotiate and possibly lose a pay rate I have been making for twelve years - to go down even more? Or be forced to VR to take even less? and my options, because of the upside-down-ness of this industry is to find another job for 8 cpl?

What is wrong with this picture? My guess would be greedy CEOs telling us that it VR and offshoring cutting our pay not them. Everyone from the CEOS who say we are family to AAMT has not advocated for us, for keeping work here - because of the bottom line, money. If the CEOs, if D were TRULY struggling and about to lose her house, barely making payroll, changing their eating habits and lifestyle to make ends meet - then I might buy that VR and offshoring are the direct cause. More and more I think the direct cause is simply greed. They want more and find ways to do it, and that means happens to be VR and offshoring. Okay, nuff said. That's my 2 (and then some) cents on whether my pay will be cut by Trancend.

just started and so far so good, i will eventually
be a reviewed but I am typing while in training to become familiar with the accounts. I do recall the the pay per line rates were in the 7 to 9 cent range with incentives to make more, which I believe is about the norm these days. Also, while in training you get feedback on every report you type.
in my case, eventually found out
yeah, she wanted the easy stuff, even though she was making money, she wanted to add to her income and took all my easy jobs
But if you report them to the IRS, they will eventually stop -
The IRS will determine if they are breaking the law, and if they are, then they will be seriously fined and penalized -- and the IRS loves to get those fines and penalties!!!
Eventually codes are going to be "attached" to
There will no longer be a need for coders.  The diagnosis will be entered into the computer and the code will already be coded in with the diagnosis.
QA will eventually be replaced by Indian QA/editors.
dd
Yep, it will eventually happen; just don't be stupid like I was and train them to do YOUR work.
You will eventually knock yourself out of your job if you allow it. Don't agree to it, don't allow it, and don't train ANYONE not even a backup MT, and most importantly DO NOT edit. Once they get it down, bye bye to you it will be.

Good luck to anyone going through this with Medware. I feel for you as this happened to me in the past as well back when I made real good money and cannot ever make that now.
Guess our work will eventually go to India now. Going to start looking for another job! (NM)

Sorry, I work 15 hours a day 5 days a week and 5 hours the other 2, when I come here I dont proof.

If you'll read through past posts you'll find lots of
recent info.  Why do you need menitoring if you already work as an MT.  Unless you do clinic work most companies will require you to work at least one weekend day, at least initially.
Why would they give you a choice of 16 or 24 hours. Usually part time is anything under 37 hours.

That is extremely odd. Well they must have something up their sleeves. Well I will be working elsewhere part time as well as with MQ as I have no intention of sitting 40 hours with no work from Amherst and be expected to have 150 lph with no work. What is all this window of work time they said they would be giving everyone. I figured all along they would do away with SE. I have already been looking around and ordered a new computer  to send theirs back.

Any companies that allow line count rather than hours or less than 20 hours per week? (sm)

Wouldn't mind having something extra especially with Christmas and general winter expenses coming up but working a FT job and really don't want to do another 20 hours on top of that.

the day has 24 hours, I work only 6-8 hours, so, lots of time to post...nm
nm
MDI-FL. Approximately 7 hours a month x12 months =84 hours
And your PTO acrues from day 1. You are just unable to utilize it until after 90 days. They have excellent benefits.
You can have insurance at 30 hours with Encompass, 32 hours with eTransPlus. nm

If you'll read the archives you'll find out everything
you want to know, none of it good.
10-15 an hour for 8 hours is better than nothing for 8 hours when there is no work.

Probably figure you'll want Way more than they'll offer, whatever it might be. :) nm

If you'll read more carefully you'll see
I was referring to AFTER she's missed out on a job, having a friend do sort of an audit to tell her what what was wrong with her test she submitted -- not cheating.
Ditto.. Over 13 years experience working in hospitals doing all types of reports, currently working
for a national etc.. and Spheris told me I didnt have the qualifications. What cracked me up was the hospital I was working at at the time contracted some of our work out to them.. What a joke..I was good enough to work for a hospital and gave them work, yet not qualified enough for them. What is wrong with this picture.
MQ same situation. No pay for working holidays, no pay for working weekends nothing. Now noone works
much anymore and so they jerk the work out of the accounts to some place that throws it back with a lot of bad bad quality. This is the NE region. I dont know what the others are doing.
You do not get PTO for 16 hours a week. 24 hours or more for the PTO. nm
