Supposedly Spheris is sending reports out by specialty, SM
except don't expect the same rate of pay as MQ. With Spheris, or any other company where you must use their piece of ---- equipment, the line counts can be, shall we say, variable.

I really wish you luck. If you don't need benefits, try a smaller company. Put resume out there. Might get some hits.

Not by the line but 1400-1500 radiology reports. 2-1/2 years. nm

Over 4 years with Spheris. NM

i worked for spheris 4 years sm
i worked in radiology part of spheris.  i had a great supervisor.  the pay is ok.  my problem was no raises, or if they don't want to give raises, at least acknowledge people some how.  there were a lot of times when we had to help cover while people were out sick or hurricane katrina stuff.  i had been there 4 years and never a raise.  (no one got raises).  another big issue for me was they send work to india.  i don't like that at all. that's one reason why i quit.  i now work for a company as an IC and they don't send their work overseas.  they are much more personable.  i worked for Spheris when it was edix, and i liked it much better when it was edix.
I worked for Spheris for 4 years
They expect you to keep your required linecount weekly, pay on time, pay is on low side, they offshore, insurance is not good, supervisors and QA are good. Overall they are decent.
Because I do not have the 5 years they require for rad. Spheris
took me on with 1 year experience and now I have 3-1/2 years total. I am thinking of applying anyway to see what they would say, especially because they know that my SIL trained me.
Well, I worked for Spheris for three years ...
Speaking of Spheris from the perspective of a past employee, I wasn't impressed at all with the company in its role as my employer. The best that I can describe their corporate mentality is that of a sweatshop -- low wages; poor, disorganized, unresponsive, and often inexperienced management; woefully inadequate benefits; and only minimally helpful QA.

However, if you're asking about the quality of transcription, I found that for the most part my colleagues were very quality oriented, most very experienced. Despite a lack of validation on all fronts, i.e. pay, appreciation, etc., they took pride in their work and put out quality documents.

I hope this helps.
I made in the low 50s at Spheris 4 years ago.
Yes, you can.

Ditto.. Over 13 years experience working in hospitals doing all types of reports, currently working
for a national etc.. and Spheris told me I didnt have the qualifications. What cracked me up was the hospital I was working at at the time contracted some of our work out to them.. What a joke..I was good enough to work for a hospital and gave them work, yet not qualified enough for them. What is wrong with this picture.
Worked for Spheris a couple of years ago
I worked for Spheris and would not recommend it to anyone who wants the least bit of flexibility in their schedule. You are expected to punch in and out to the minute on an online timeclock according to a very strict preset schedule. You aren't allowed to deviate from it without jumping through hoops and getting time off approved or adjusting your schedule, and you can't ask earlier than 2 weeks before the date you want changed. Kinda puts a damper on making vacation plans that may never be approved. I prefer a more open 12-hour window to work my 8 hours in, with no one keeping electronic tabs on my 24/7. I'll bet the FBI knows less about what their employees are doing on a minute-by-minute basis. I do have to say that their platform is pretty awesome, though. Wish the company I'm at now had it.
Taking the steps to leave Spheris - 10 years!

I left EDiX/Spheris after 8 years there to come to Webmedx. SM
I moved over here in 2003 because I knew the recruiter and she told me it was a great place to work. She was right. The benefits are fair, the work plentiful, the bosses fantastic, and the QA staff wonderful. Good luck!
Anyone willing to give range of pay rates for Spheris with 20 plus years exp?
I know their insurance is crappy, looking for wages and work.
Agree.. What is up with Spheris..They hire new grads yet I have over 14 years experience in acute
care, multiple specialities, yet..they said I didnt meet the qualifications. WHAT???? Why arent they honest and tell the truth. Do not tell me I am not qualified when I have worked for two hospitals doing all work types including radiology for all those years. Their ad said at least one year of experience. I guess 14 did not count for anything. The funny thing was that the hospital I was working for at the time had just signed them on to do our overflow, having switched from MedQuist. I just find it ironic that they were hired by our hospital which I worked for and had experience at, yet, I was not qualified enough. What a joke!!
been with spheris 4.5 years, easy platform, good clinic account

where they 35 comparable reports - or 35 short and 35 long reports? nm

Typing ER reports and radiologogy reports
are completely different with regards to pay. For typing regular reports, that is a very fine line rate. For typing radiology reports, it would be horrid.
I still feel like a team player of Spheris, as the shackle scars are still on my legs! Spheris was

Micromanaged to the microsecond, or ms!  Horrible. And part of a team?  Total opposite - part of a team as in prison.

Don't imply you're worried at all. Just stating fact that Spheris does NOT allow a Spheris MT
work concurrently for MQ - no exceptions.  MQ, on the other hand, does not have the same feelings as Spheris.  Just all I had to say so that MTs aren't misled into thinking they can do the same "legally". Even went to the ropes on this issue with Spheris, as I was professional as well, and wouldn't share info, etc. The point they raised was that MQ is their direct #1 competition, and if I was typing for MQ and doing great work, that was in direct conflict of interest with Spheris' best interests.  Guess which one I obviously stuck with!!
Thank you, Spheris recruiter! Anybody wanna place a bet that there are lots of Spheris
HELP WANTED ads on the job board?? So funny!! Out of the blue, Spheris, we love you!! Lets all run and apply NOW!!
I also know Spheris would fire you if they knew you worked for MQ. That is a BIG NO with Spheris!

Spheris - any spheris employees out there care to s/m
comment on the new Cornerstone platform, good, bad? Will we all be going to SR on this? Thanks.
I talked to them today. They want 3 years in a hospital or 5 years combination sm
hospital and at home or clinic and at home. For radiology, they want 3 years full time radiology. I thought they were very nice and I have a few friends that work for them and are happy. The pay seems average to high for what I am seeing now. I think they are 0.08 per line or 1.08 for radiology. Beats what I will have with the new MQ program.
Honda is 11 years old, 190,000 miles . Toyota was 15 years old and 279,000 superb

I worked on site for many years. I've been doing this for 10 years... sm
I've worked on site, at home, for small MTSOs, for nationals, for hospitals. I've been paid per line, per minute, and per hour. I've been an MT and a QA. I have ALWAYS worked weekends and ALWAYS worked nights for the shift differential because MTs can't survive on 6 or 7 cents a line. At least I can't and I type 105 wpm.

I've BEEN dedicated from day 1, sister, so you are barking up the wrong tree.
15,000 lines per pay period. 8 years with KS, 6 years on this account! nm
Not going anywhere else!
30 years - this WAS my career. The last few years you guys have ruined it.
You work 9-5? Big deal. I work more than you do. I bet I work harder too. Treat US with respect, lady!

Don't talk to us like that and don't expect us to kiss your feet. Kiss ours for a change!
See if you'll be producing more after 30 years of MT'ing and at 50+ years old.
I don't think so. My income increased every year also, until I reached age 50 and 30 years of MT'g, been downhill ever since.
ER Reports
Can you make a good living typing only ER reports with a national company?  Do any companies hire you just for ER reports?  Thanks.
Maybe that is why they only let you do a few reports a day but
nm
I believe they will get them to do op reports, in which

I luv Op reports
:)
ER reports
Was there a posting on these boards recently about doing mainly ER reports?  What was the name of the company?  I cannot find it now.  Thanks.
Are the reports
in the accounts worse than what is on the TH test when you apply?

I have had years of proofing horrid accounts. :)

My really great fear is that I won't be able to get my line count. I HAVE to get my line count. I will be leaving a job with awesome benefits, retirement, blah blah blah, but I want to come back home with my children.

Sigh. If only it were easy.

IME Reports
I need some opinions!! I may be typing some IMEs in the near future and am getting paid by the gross. Do you think that should also include the templates, or only what is actually typed??
IME reports
If I am getting paid by the gross line for these reports, do you think the line count should also include the templates? I have never done these before and some say it should, and yet that may seem unfair??
reports

I do radiology too, but I don't near anywhere close to 200 rpts per day.  Is that all plain films minus the MRIs, CTs, etc.?

They allow you 10 reports a day, I believe.
train, which I think lasts 2 weeks.  Not 100% sure if this is still the case, but that's what they were doing at one time.  The recruiter is very nice and will answer questions like this one.  If she doesn't know, then she'll get you the answers you need.
yes they can see reports at TT
Control S, quick find, highlight a job or jobs and click statistics.
OP REPORTS
Absolutely yes. When checking the Lanier dictation minutes, the same amount of minutes was almost double in line count as compared to H&Ps. The other reasons posted below also play a part. Otherwise, why would be have Voice Recognition anyway?
rad reports
$1.20 at some companies but the work is low so if you get a lot of work for $1.10, you will make more.
Op reports
Try TRS - Transcription Relief Services.
ER reports
I've never seen a single one!  They're probably typed offshore since they're considered easier!
As an IC, 10 yrs exp. in all but OP reports
what would you say is a good wage for a 65 CPL?  I was thinking 10 CPL, but then I've been offered two jobs now at 9 CPL.  What do you think?
Reports.....
I also applied and got the same response, but I must point out that these are long IME's, 4-40 pages in length, so one report could take you a while to do until you know the full format and correct way of doing it. Stop bashing people and companies until you know the full story.
So if you have to fix the reports anyway, you still

ER reports
ERs are my first transcription love.  I made a lot of money typing them and enjoyed the variety they offered.  The doctors dictate the same review of systems and physical exam repeatedly, and that's where you learn quickly to become one with your macros!  The reports are fast, unlike discharge summaries, for example, where there are frequent long pauses (i.e., a waste of your time) while the dictator lollygags and reads the entire chart while dictating.  ER doctors are accustomed to working on the fly.  If you can find an ER account, grab it!  You will love it.
ER Reports
Does anyone know of any companies who have specific ER accounts? Thanks!
Those reports
are going to be awfully hard to read without spaces.
