Ah, that is sorta taking advantage of a restaurant

Posted By: Just me on 2009-06-22

in fact might border on theft. I don’t think quirky, would be embarassing to me to have your family heist any and everything they could when going out. Do they go out other times or just on a special occasion? Rather than run the risk of someone in management asking me to pay for their "treats," think I probably might make them a dinner at home, then you could make sure to tie down anything valuable to you.

Someone putting that many demands on a gift is taking advantage of you, and you are letting them. nm

You sorta told her what she really needs to know, that being
you said MTs getting out of the business by the hundreds. If I read this, then I would think, hmmmmm wonder why? There must be a reason for this, after all I can work and still stay home, must be a dream job. To say she can do MTing and be home with her family, sorta of an oxymoron now days, don't you think? I think she would do good to read over a lot of the posts and see exactly how the people are feeling today about their work, lack of, pay and again lack of and then find out if she wants to chance this. Lots of MTs not only on the fence about their jobs but lots questioning what other jobs they could get into. So much unrest in this business now. I would never tell a person to start here. Posts all the time about not thinking it is going to be around with outsourcing, VR and the like. Being a stay at home mother is 1 thing but trying to provide and stay home, this is a chancy risk at this time.
If 1 time but sorta ongoing
I have noticed when around my hubby or her son, she tends to say little cutting remarks, about me, not just when she and I are 1 on 1. There are others who do things for her, like her birthday recently and I hear not 1 thing about how others overdo it and I have heard this, like I said, time and time again. I know she is elderly but I do not think being old excuses you at all unless you are completely senile, demented and the like. If you still have your faculities around you (and she does) she was not brought up to look a gift horse in the mouth so to speak. I did not expect the money for the hair solution I gave her- but if she did not want and could not use- she could have thrown away- I would have never known the difference. By the way, she really has taken the place of my mother who is deceased. We have been very close and will continue to be but my feelings count just as much as anyone else.
That cracked me up! Sorta sounds like - sm
TV commercial where the family powers their entire house by static electricity. The kids all walk around with wool sox on, rubbing their feet on the floor. Later they're sitting in front of the TV, and all of their hair is sticking straight up from static electricity. At the end, the lights go out and they're saying good night, and then there is a kiss and an "ouch"! I sure hope that commercial won an award, 'cause just thinking about it makes me laugh.
Think you are sorta wrong about your post
the first time we even saw SP was when she was brought out by McCain and introduced. We did not know beforehand. Right from the start everyone got to know her reallyyyyyy well, especially with the introduction of the speech she gave at the RNC gathering. Loved her interviews, really bright lady!
homemade heath bar- sorta

Not a dinner idea- but a cheap way to make a bag-full of toffee:

1 cup butter, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 12 oz. bag chocolate chips, 3/4-1 cup chopped nuts (i use salted peanuts chopped up) saltine crackers:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Fill pan side-by-side with crackers. Heat butter and brown sugar. Boil for 3 minutes.  Pour on top of crackers. Put pan in oven for 5 minutes.  Remove from oven, sprinkle the chocolate chips on top to melt- after a couple minutes, easy to spread around with a spatula. Sprinkle the nuts on top- kinda push them into the chocloate so they don't fall off when done.  Chill in fridge and break into pieces.

Keeps well in a zip-lock baggie in fridge.  Not the real deal, but sure it good and a lot cheaper than candy bars!

Thanks for the other ideas ladies, always looking for a new meal that is fast, easy and yummy!

Your last sentence sorta breaks my heart
I have grandchildren but they are so tied in with the maternal side, even though we live only perhaps 15 miles apart, never see or talk with them- I tried being close when they were younger but they were always, always at the other grandmoms home, never mine. I love them and wish them well.
I sorta laughed at the place where you said your husband
would never cheat, and you keep him happy as well. Lady, please, you do know don’t you a man can be pleased as punch but that does not stop all from having affairs. It happens all the time. My goodness!
Yep, you should be mad. They took advantage of you. But now
s
Advantage
I called 1-800-petmeds in the past. I got free shipping and was pleased with the service/pricing.
You are definitely being taken advantage of
You're not wrong.  You have every right to be mad.  I would tell hubby that either his buddy comes and gets the dogs, and doesn't do this to you again, or next time your husband can stay home and take care of them.  It's one thing to take care of your own, but 5 more is a lot to feed and clean up after.  I think his friend is taking advantage of both of you and your husband is being wayyyy to nice about it.  By the way, where I live the going rate of a kennel is about 25-30 dollars a night per dog.  Maybe you should bill his buddy?  Good luck.
You can only be taken advantage of if
you allow it yourself. Don’t be a rug for her or anyone else for that matter. It is your home, grow a backbone and tell her what you have said here, just so upsetting to you and the only way these visits can happen is if she stays at the hotel. You should not put yourself out for her if war is going to continue in your own home. If you cannot tell her what you have said here, then I guess Auntie will continue to visit like she has all along.
Then learn how to use my tax dollars to the best advantage
p
Anna Nichole is still being taken advantage of, even in
death with her supposedly beloved, yeh right, Howard Stern who now I hear has sold the rights for her funeral to Entertainment Tonight for 3+ million. Why am I not shocked by this? Hearing complaints from other news services unable to get any kind of story at all, all involved - her mother, her former boyfriend Larry and her baby daddy (supposedly) Howard others think are being paid $$$ not to talk but exclusively to ET. Heard Fox news just say they do not pay for stories, well I guess some are not that honorable.
Advantage for cats/fleas

Has anyone found a source for purchasing Advantage at a very good price? I have 7 inside cats and 4 outside. I would be willing to buy this in bulk if the price was more reasonable.

Also, has anyone used something other than Advantage with good luck.

Thank you.

People who don't have trust issues will take advantage of it.

I use Advantage 9 for my smallish kitties. I didn't think - sm
I needed flea-treatments since they are both 100% indoor-only cats living in an apartment, but every few months to a year, they'd suddenly become infested. It happened with my past cat, too. I finally figured out what was happening.

It was ALWAYS after I'd been away for a while, and the pet-sitter came to take care of them, which included grooming, etc. She's not uncleanly or anything, but she does take care of a LOT of animals all over town, because that's her livelihood. So obviously one or more of her clients had a flea problem, and it only takes one to jump from that animal, to the pet-sitter, to one of my cats to start the problem all over again.

So NOW, I apply Advantage before planning to leave them with anyone, and that seems to do the trick.
I handled it by quit allowing myself to be taken advantage of -sm
Just STOP doing it.  Doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result borders on insanity!  They obviously do not value what is given, so stop doing it, save yourself the money and the heartache, and move on to more positive things to spend your energy on.
Did you see that OJ got kicked out of a restaurant
He and his attorney are saying it was race related.  Could it be that he's just an asz??   The owner was just on Fox and Friends and said it was because of the book OJ was going to put out.
Hopefully, some great restaurant here in...
Phoenix. DH is on a business trip for 2 weeks and me and my lil' ol' laptop are here too! Nice to work with sunshine and a warm temperature all right outside the hotel door!
One I was at a restaurant waiting

in line for a bathroo stall.  Finally a lady came out of onel and I went inside.  There was urine ALL OVER the seat.  I was just livid.  Okay lady, if you are too scared to sit down to pee because of the germs, then for crying out loud, WIPE UP YOUR PEE so it's not there for some total stranger to have to deal with.  Or hold it until you get home.

Gross, gross, gross.

Not sure if still there but the Hoop-De-Doo-Review/restaurant was a lot of fun!

I cannot shut up *LOL* - JUNIOR's restaurant..sm
which is ON Flatbush Avenue when you first get into BKLYN.....it's on the right going towards Prospect Park - it's been there for 50+ years and has some of the best food in NY......Junior's......(remembering all kinds of cheesecake....*lol*).....
A local restaurant had on its sign outside
AYCE DailEy specials...it was there for a while, but someone finally got smart and changed it.  This is a pet peeve of mine, too.  It drives my husband crazy at times when I start pointing out all the mistakes I see.  I saw one on some papers from school, but I can't remember what it was...but from SCHOOL...hello???
what ever the Japanese restaurant is cooking up

A GREEK restaurant with no lamb???--sm
not really GREEK then. geez. I LOVE real greek gyros!! yum!

as far as venison tenderloin, it depends on the age of the deer that was killed, how it was dressed and how soon, and most particularly on the COOK! The best meal I ever had was venison stew by someone who KNEW how to cook it!!! y'all made me hungry now. thanks!

niece and restaurant -- are those right? can't get 'em
just hate that.  i've added those to my Expander so they correct themselves... i know there's more ...
We had dinner at a very nice restaurant sm
and then went home and ate the top of the cake....not so great, but it was fun. We also watched our wedding video. We had a very small reception, no band or dancing, but the song I had the Time of My Life (from Dirty Dancing) was played over and over on our honeymoon, so danced in our living room to that song and well.......one thing led to another. It was very romantic.
ignoring grumble = enjoying restaurant

Dog found in the freezer at our fav Chinese restaurant sm
well what used to be our fav. Now closed. This happened in the 80s. We still love chinese food though. Have it almost once a week.
you went to a Greek restaurant and they didn't have souvlaki?

You should've asked for your money back!

I've met folks from all over the world and learned different types of cooking here and there...just home cookin'...nothin' fancy.

They're are so many different varieties of southern cooking as in every other part of the country.  I'm from NY and didn't know squat about jowl meat in the beans and the greens....salted everything...fat on top of fat...or deer for that matter.  I was voted least likely to ever whack, hack, pack and stack a deer for the freezer...and name the parts (including making deer sausage and bambi burgers with an old-timey hand grinder) and deer jerky.

Lamb would be a delicacy on anyone's table these days and isn't usually used in southern cooking.

Don't get me started on seafood...lived near the ocean and bay and I didn't realize how expensive that stuff was until I moved inland 'cause I just went out and fished or harvested it.

Now, give me a bambi burger and I know what to do with that!  Cat

Yes, just like hair salon, restaurant, and facials, etc. nm

Chicken quesadillas. Mine are much better than any restaurant...nm

I live in Louisville and restaurant owners all over town are
applauding him for having done it. The restaurant he went to right after that was just around the corner and the owner there said he didn't have guts to not serve him.
Not the OP but good ideas, have you tried DiMillo's Floating Restaurant?
Deep fried lobster tails with that sweet dipping sauce and the lazy lobster where they clean and cut it all up for you and serve it floating in butter?!?!?! And my husband loved the lobster rolls they had everywhere. Gotta get back there :)
On our takeout Chinese restaurant menu - We delivery! lol

Speaking of Gladys Knight. She has THE BEST restaurant on Peachtree St. sm
called Chicken and Waffles. The BEST RESTAURANT in the area. I love it! Of course, that is my opinion. Good soul food. Love it there when I'm up there
Do you hide it? I did this in Houston last summer at a very nice restaurant sm
and someone knocked out the lock on the passenger side with a hammer or something (dented above the door handle) and took my Dooney & Bourke purse my mom got me as a gift. I LOVED that purse. But here's the good news. The only thing they got was my bag and a bunch of make up because I had my wallet with me!
Maybe a nice garden/gazebo/outdoor wedding at a club/restaurant etc nearby? Get

This native NYorker agrees! Nice restaurant meal & clean sheets

anyone taking Yaz ........... sm

anyone taking Yas specifically to treat PMS symptoms???  my doctor gave me three months' worth of Yaz to see if it helps my symptoms.  i haven't taken the pill in ages.  when i used to take it, i got really bad migraines.  i've been doing a little research, and found that people have side effects like nausea, anxiety, weight gain.  i know side effects differ from person to person, but wondering what your experience was.  i'm not a big pill taker.

thanks

Try taking

vitamin C 500 mg with the iron, it is supposed to help with the iron absorption and help with constipation and nausea as well.

On top of being anemic, I also have psoriasis, so I have my hair falling out (including pubic, lol) and constantly looks like I have extremely dry skin on my face, ears and scalp.

i'm taking it now.
But only for a month so far. I have high cholesterol but way worse triglycerides. I've had no side effects that i can contribute to it definitively; some muscle pain that i'm concerned about, but it could be a recent back injury worsening too...

what i DON'T like is that it is a statin. I understand that statins work really well to achieve the goal usually, but they also have bad side effects, including rhabdomyolysis. I've read a lot too on this class of drugs, and really didn't want to take them again, but for me, i'm at high risk for stroke or heart attack if i can't get my numbers down, so it is the lesser of evils i guess.

My educated opinion is this: if your cholesterol is NOT that high, and overall risk factors are not a real concern, i'd stay away from the drugs, statins in particular. If you do however take a statin, be sure to take the CoQ-10, which helps protect against the cell damage and effects of the statins. High cholesterol alone, in more recent studies, is not that indicative of a future problem. Lack of exercise and high-fat diets put one more at risk than cholesterol elevation. Like i said, without real necessity, i would not take a statin.
You are obviously set on taking
It's really sad...obviously you are not doing that bad, after all your child has a Wii...sounds very selfish to me, but hey...that's just me! Merry Christmas
I do not think that taking out ALL of the...
money from the joint accounts and putting it in one in only her name, as advised above, is acting defensively. You are entitled to your opinion and I to mine, but keep in mind that your children see how you act. That is all I am saying.
taking away
We had my son take verything out of his room, every nail out of the wall, put all his belongings in the garage, paint his room (which looked terrible by the way), and sleep on the floor until he surrendered his stubborness (about three nights on the floor). Then he had to put his room back together again.

This did not cure him, but it let him know that we were more stubborn than he was..
Good luck!
Try taking away something she likes!
I know it sounds harsh, but if you take away something she likes and not give her that until she finally is a "big girl", then she may want to go potty.  The other thing, I know how gross this is, but include her in your "potty time", and she may realize "Wow, Mom is a big girl, and I want to be like Mom!  It is a tough call, but my daughter went through the same thing.  I always got the "I'm too busy!"  So, I began asking her all of the time, and finally she went because she didn't want me to ask her especially in front of her brother.  She was about 4 1/2!  Good luck!
