Are you always so self-righteous and condescending, or is it

Who are you to judge and belitte people who work hard, and are doing everything they can to make ends meet? Oh wait... let me guess. You're one of those MTs whose husband has a six-figure income, right? And your MT income goes towards life's little frills.

how condescending can a person be?

After I had a surgery 2 years ago, I gained an incredible amount of weight - not water.  Last May I started going to the pool and doing water aerobics every single day for 2 months and changed to a low-fat diet.  I did not lose weight, but I was replacing fat with muscle, which is the first step with the amount of weight I was dealing with.  Then I started getting one URI and sinus infection/ear infection after another.  All that exercise kicked my GI tract into hyperdrive.  Now I have IBS and colitis.  I can't exercise because I have to battle real and exhausting pain for the next 2 hours.  I have pain every single day.  I no longer have hunger pains as normal people do, so I really do have problems knowing when it is appropriate for me to eat.  I've been with 2 different GI's during this time, failed 5 or 6 different medicines, and still can't lose weight, diet or exercise.  My pay has been cut in half.  I had to quit my second job and only work part time now instead of full time - all because I wanted to get healthy and in shape again.

The next time you think having extra weight is a choice, let me invite you to pay the $600/month I pay for medicines to control my GI tract issues.

May sound condescending but...
think of people worse off than yourself like the kids with cancer at St. Jude's, etc.. I have a hard time having lost family members at Christmas, can't listen to Christmas music and don't have the same spiritual churcdh-going holiday I used to have. Thankfully, I have grandkids who will come over the night before, so I have to have something and it keeps me going and there's no excuse not to make it nice for them. If I didn't have them, I swear I would volunteer to go read to kids in the hospital this time of year. There's nothing like kids to get you out of a funk. Maybe you could rent a movie of a dysfunctional family Christmas, there are a lot of them, and just be glad you don't have to put up with that! Perhaps a few of you could get together and E-mail each other just to have some companionship. I feel for you. Everyone gets blue sometimes and it looks like everyone has a party and you're not invited. Believe me, some of the ones I've been to were so dysfunctional I wished I had stayed home. Try to laugh a little, this too shall pass!! Happy New Year!
Ah, the self righteous on this board. nm

I think he's a self-righteous busybody who should mind his own business. SM
Most of the people I know celebrate Halloween.  They understand where it came from.  It has nothing to do with evil.  It's a celebration of dead soles and the hope for a mild winter and plentiful spring and summer seasons.  What's evil about that?
