Call the school. I had a threat like this in my high school and they cancelled school that day.
Thankfully, because the person making the threats was found with material for home made pipe bombs and quit a bit of ammunition and a shotgun. He was arrested and charged. Never allowed back in the school.

I think it would be safer to call the school and get classes cancelled for a day to investigate versus make a scene in the parking lot, especially if the student with the knife is inside with the knife.

Good luck. If nothing happens, pull your child out of school for a week. See what happens. I know that sounds horrible, but small towns is where this happens most often.
Kiss!
XXX OOO
Wotta face.
I wish my husband still liked to kiss like that...
We've only been married for a year and he's quit doing all that stuff.
Oh, I just wanna hug and kiss both of them! You
obviously enjoy, love and respect them. . . and they are dressed so beautifully!!
With a kiss and hug good-bye...
That ship has, sadly, sailed and too many lives would be disrupted, perhaps even destroyed, by acting on these impulses.

I think perhaps both of you are hitting a mid-life crises and reuniting would be a way of bringing back your youth.

But doing that would also bring heartache to MANY.

Sometimes it's easier to let the ship sail than to climb aboard, but it's the best thing to do for everyone, even you. You'll only end up hurt and having hurt many others.

Sean wants to kiss the presidents
crown and I do not like him at all. If a person calls in and he does not agree, the person is so rudely cut off. I like the way Alan handles him, cuts him off like he should be. To me he definitely is NOT a great American, get so tired of hearing that crap.
Do you and Hubby/So Go into that Embrace & Kiss?

They have a RULE about not blowing a kiss to your family?! nm

I disagree - just because you aren't married doesn't mean you can kiss whoever you want (sm)
not if you are in a committed relationship. Now i agree that Helio's kiss was part of the show and don't have an opinion on that. But what you are saying about him having every right to kiss another woman if he wants - I strongly disagree with that. He was engaged. Even if they were just in a committed relationship he wouldn't have that right. Too many germs out there for one thing! It may not be new but it's still not right.
A Very Costly Kiss: Senior Denied Diploma

For teens, there is no greater joy than graduating high school. Shaking off the shackles of education and claiming that hard-fought diploma is truly an epic day. Unfortunately, for several students at Bonny Eagle High School in Maine, their natural exuberance has led to some surprisingly serious problems.

On Friday night, when the senior class was waiting to graduate, excitement began to grow. Students bounced a large inflatable rubber duck. The noise level rose. And then came "the kiss." When called, one student walked on stage to receive his diploma and blew a kiss to his family. The school administrator, clearly not the sentimental sort, sent the student back to his seat ... sans diploma.

The seemingly harsh punishment has sent the Web all aflutter. Searches on "student denied diploma" and "bonny eagle high school" are both through the roof. Additionally, blogs and news papers are chiming in with opinions on whether or not the administration overreacted. The student's mother has given interviews and is quite upset at her son's treatment. According to an article from Fox News the outraged mother said, "A bow, a kiss to your mom is not misbehavior."

But the administrators feel they were just enforcing the rules that students agreed to. At a meeting following the debacle, school superintendent Suzanne Lukas said that "if a student doesn't adhere to the expectations, then the consequences are clearly spelled out."

This isn't the first time that rambunctious (dare we say "fun"?) behavior affected a graduation ceremony at Bonny Eagle. "Four years ago we had some issues with silly string and beach balls," said Lukas.

About Your Candy
Just wondering if you have a website regarding your candy business. ?
Arm Candy
You just have to enforce with him there are consequences to every action. Have a real heart to heart with him. Use Levi and Palin's daughter as a perfect example of young love. Remind him all the weight-watching, college, etc. will be down the drain if he makes a mistake. Then remind him of AIDS and all the other STD's that last a lifetime and encourage him to use protection. When the hormones are raging and the girls are falling all over them they need to be reminded. Just do it in a way that he knows you are not saying he is stupid but that you don't want to see him a mistake that could change/mess up his life for a long time.

I use chocolate bark to dip with.  I do know you have to watch the humidity outside.  If the humidity is high, the chocolate will not set, but you can put it in the refrigerator to get it to set.  Have fun!!

Aww, my favorite time of year. You can freeze your candy and it will still be good until Christmas. I make chocolate and peanut butter fudge and freeze it. As a matter of fact, it is really good frozen, takes longer to eat, just melts in your mouth. I have to disguise the candy in the freezer, otherwise people will pick at it and it will be gone by Christmas. YUM!
Candy and website

I am working on getting it back up and running...tell me what your interested in and I will send you some pics.

Oh, he is mostly arm candy and he is a looker!
Actually when it comes to money I have more than him so maybe I might find someone even younger than him but I doubt that. I never doubt his love for 1 minute.
Sounds like my kids...on a school day "we just got home from school!" on a vacation day....sm
But this is our vacation! My husband takes vacation days and leaves town without us...lol! He would never dream of taking a day off to work around the house!
P.S. Couldn't really say John Candy or that would have
completely given it away.

Had to make ya work for it right?! :)
I got 5 pounds of chocolate candy

Hubby remembered one night...just 1 night...and can't remember when, that I was so hungry for a piece of chocolate, he gave me 5 pounds of chocolate for Christmas!!!  I love chocolate but not that much!!!! I think he wants me to get fat.

I ate 2 pieces so far since Christmas. Hmmmmmmmmmm, think I'll go grab a piece now. It seems to be calling me.

I transcribed a Candy Caine once. sm

Do you keep a candy dish on your desk?

What's inside it?

I have one on my desk, but it usually only has sugar-free gum in it.  Boring I know, but I hate it when my kids get cavities and since they raid my dish all the time, I have to take precautions.    I also don't want to tempt myself all day long with sugar.  Sometimes I get sugar-free Werther's candy or  sugar-free lemonade candy but those bags are so tiny they don't last long.

Christmas candy ideas
My husband and I make about 30 tins of candy each year to give to family and friends.  We make chocolate covered cherries (just dip cherries in melted chocolate), white chocolate covered pretzels with red and green chocolate drizzled on top, turtles (I buy a 5 lb chunk of caramel), buckeyes (peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate), peanut butter kiss cookies, mixed nut clusters dipped in chocolate and peanut butter fudge.  All of it is pretty simple, just time consuming.  My family really looks forward to receiving it each year.  I use a double boiler for melting chocolate.  I haven't had much luck in the microwave.  If you would like specific instructions for any of the above, feel free to e-mail me.  I think the kids could do a lot of the dipping to help out.
Candy making question

If I make some candy would it still be good for Christmas? I'm going to make those Peanut Butter Bon Bons today.

How do you make you choolate chips and paraffin wax to dip them in? I can't remember how many choc chips I used before, but one time the candy didn't get as hard as it should.

I always keep these in the fridge anyway.

Is there a local candy making store?
They may have them, but not sure.  I'm in Delaware, but we have a store that carries all kinds of little things to make your own candy.  I do remember seeing cinnamon chips, and I wonder where they went?  I wonder if you also tried Hershey's website for them or other websites.  I wonder if you Google cinnamon chips????  just a thought....
What's your favorite Christmas treat/candy, etc?
Mine are the 'chocolate oranges' and Andes mints.

For homemade stuff, can't beat fudge, Chex mix and Christmas sugar cookies.

How is the school's fault if Johnny comes to school armed?
And how is the school's fault if off campus people are getting jumped? Everybody wants to blame the schools, but the reason places have gone "zero tolerance" is because every parent whose kid gets popped for an illegal weapon says, "Oh, my little pookie wouldn't do that." Which is exactly what the parents of every perpetrator of school violence has said. At 15, this girl should have been aware that it was verboten and, if they felt that strongly it was necessary, kept it hidden. If she is not capable of thinking that part through, maybe she shouldn't be trusted with pepper spray anyway.

In our school district you can go to any school that you want
but you actually have to pay if you don't live in the District. The private schools here are outrageously priced. You could almost send your child to a community college for the amount they charge.
No birth control sales, no candy sales,

CHANTILLY, Va. — A new drug store at a Virginia strip mall is putting its faith in an unconventional business plan: No candy. No sodas. And no birth control. Divine Mercy Care Pharmacy is among at least seven pharmacies across the nation that are refusing as a matter of faith to sell contraceptives of any kind, even if a person has a prescription.

States across the country have been wrestling with the issue of pharmacists who refuse on religious grounds to dispense birth control or morning-after pills, and some have enacted laws requiring drug stores to fill the prescriptions.

In Virginia, though, pharmacists can turn away any prescription for any reason.

"I am grateful to be able to practice," pharmacy manager Robert Semler said, "where my conscience will never be violated and my faith does not have to be checked at the door each morning."

Semler ran a similar pharmacy before opening the new store, which is not far from Dulles International Airport. The store only sells items that are health-related, including vitamins, skin care products and over-the-counter medications.

On Tuesday, the pharmacy celebrated a blessing from Arlington Bishop Paul S. Loverde. While Divine Mercy Care is not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, it is guided by church teachings on sexuality, which forbid any form of artificial contraception, including morning-after pills, condoms and birth control pills, a common prescription used by millions of women in the U.S.

"This pharmacy is a vibrant example of our Holy Father's charge to all of us to wear our faith in the public square," said Loverde, who sprinkled holy water on the shelves stocked with painkillers and acne treatments. "It will allow families to shop in an environment where their faith is not compromised."

The drug store is the seventh in the country to be certified as not prescribing birth control by Pharmacists for Life International. The anti-abortion group estimates that perhaps hundreds of other pharmacies have similar policies, though they have not been certified.

Earlier this year in Wisconsin, a state appeals court upheld sanctions against a pharmacist who refused to dispense birth control pills to a woman and wouldn't transfer her prescription elsewhere. Elsewhere, at least seven states require pharmacies or pharmacists to fill contraceptive prescriptions, according to the National Women's Law Center. Four states explicitly give pharmacists the right to turn away any prescriptions, the group said.

The Virginia store's policy has drawn scorn from some abortion rights groups, who have already called for a boycott and collected more than 1,000 signatures protesting the pharmacy.

"If this emboldens other pharmacies in other parts of the state, it could really affect low-income and rural women in terms of access," said Tarina Keene, executive director of the Virginia chapter of the National Abortion Rights Action League.

Robert Laird, executive director of Divine Mercy Care, believes many of the estimated 50,000 Catholics within a few miles of the store will support its mission and make up for the roughly 10 percent of business that contraceptives represent in a typical pharmacy.

Whether Catholics will be drawn to the pharmacy is uncertain. According to a Gallup poll published last year for an extensive study of U.S. Catholicism called American Catholics Today, 75 percent of U.S. Catholics said you can still be a good Catholic even if you don't obey church teachings on birth control.

Catherine Muskett said she plans to shop at the drug store even though she lives more than 20 miles away.

"Obviously it's good to support pro-life causes. Every little bit counts," said Muskett, one of about 75 people who crowded into the tiny shop for Tuesday's ceremony.

Job available at school.

Okay, I have been doing this for 8 years.  I think I should be more productive than I am for that much experience.  I only do between 1200 to 1300 lines a day.  I am also just so tired of it.  Today, the hospital's network is very very slow and that certainly doesn't help me and I have to make up the time while my kids are at home which is not very easy...KWIM.  Again, just tired of it.

There is a job opening available at DD. elemetry school about an elementry teacher aide.  It has no specific qualifications just send resume to the superintendent.  Well, I looked online and it seems the basic requirements are HS diploma, good understanding of children, good physical condition.  I match that.  I am a mother of 2, my 5 yo was at the top of her class last year (might be a good qualification for me), I referreed fights etc., supervised dd and her friends on outings, babysat school age kids.

I am just thinking of things that might qualify me for the job.  I have kept this job for 8 years, the job before that was 6 years as a nurses aide at another hospital so longevity might be a plus.  I have never worked anywhere except a hospital.  Well, I did work for an MTSO for a short time, 6 months.

There is a number I could call.  It is voice mail.  I was going to call and ask exactly what are they looking for so I would know whether or not to bother with it but I am not very good at asking for something I need.  Any suggestions, comments.  TIA.

School
I would be livid!  Go through the principal, (complain loudly) on how embarrassed your daughter was, etc. You'll get results I'm sure.   As a last resort, get a doctor's excuse.

I am 56 and working on my third degree.  I love going to school, and I think the older I get, the more it helps keep me sharp.  You might try asking a local college about scolarship opportunities.  Some of them have special programs geared for women.
My take is WHY did the school let a
freshman take a senior course? Advanced or not, she probably does not have the background to be able to keep up with it. My daughter is also a freshman and took Algebra II in 8th grade, so they automatically put her in geometry. There is no way I would have let her take a physics class now.
re: school
I am a mom of two teenage boys and I do not think the school should have been the ones to punish the child since it didn't take place at the school from school computers or on school property. It is the parent's responsibility to reprimand the child when something is done by their child in the home. Since the teacher found out about it, that teacher should have called the parent and should have allowed the parent to take the appropriate action. Teachers should not under any circumstances have the authority to reprimand children at home under their parent's care. Only when something like this happens from school, on school property, from a school computer should the teacher have that authority. I used to work in a public school and there are boundaries as to how far teachers should go. The rest is up to parents!
We met at school

Best friend's boyfriend at that time and I absolutely could not stand him!

Then we ended up kind of *stuck* together when we went out with a group of friends. Somehow we just clicked and from that first night, I knew we were going to be together forever! That night while all the other couples were making out like crazy, he and I just sat on a playground slide and talked. Then at the end of the night, he kissed me on the cheek...I knew right then I was hooked. We've been married 21 years, have 3 children, and are expecting our first grandchild in August!!! Aww, whatta love story

I don't know what everyone's school districts
are like, but I don't have any of these problems. Even at our old house that was in a little more of a low-income area, the school was okay. I noticed a huge difference in the kids and the parents over there though, but I have had no problems with my kids in public school.

They both are testing above average. My daughter is in K and has a sheet she is to work on all month and then turn in, nothing too serious. My son usually does his homework/reading on the bus or spends about 30 minutes at the most completing it when he gets home.

Maybe I am just lucky that they both excel without any pushing from me or the school or I just am in a great school district, although I know we are in the best in Texas. My son does have some anger problems sometimes and a few problems with self-control. We work on this and I think the idea about the martial arts is an excellent one. In fact, we are looking at places to enroll him out here. He is pushing to go back to gymnastics though, so we will see. Honestly, I think any extracurricular activity that is in a nurturing environment is a good idea for every kid.
