Is you dad complaining, or is he happy about this? My mother in law

Posted By: mom on 2007-05-30
In Reply to: Speaking of weddings, tell me if I'm just being petty. SM - QALady

did the same thing. When my father in law died, he left her 4 million dollars and nothing to his 2 kids or grandchildren. If you dad is not happy about it, then confront her, make a scene, get rid of her SOON. Heck make one anyway so she knows you're watching her.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Happy Mother's Day to all who celebrate!

I am a very happy mother of the groom
Having an only child I have never experienced preparing a wedding previously. I had fun but I had no idea how much work goes into one of these weddings. However, it was a beautiful ceremony, beautiful day, and a whole lot of fun. The kids are married and extremely happy. The mother and father of the groom cannot ask for anything more and our blessings go to our "children." Just had to share this wonderful experience!!
Happy Mother's Day!! Brunch with MIL and mom:-)
Kids and DH are staying home and cleaning the house. Yay for me:-)
Happy Mother's Day to all. Family dinner here - You??? nm
 ,
Okay - I'm not complaining now
Sounds like you got it worse than me, so no complaints here. Just can't wait for school to start up. Usually after this kid is acting up DH wants to discuss looking for another place to live (we're renters). I ask him where. I said where are we gonna go to be assured of some peace and quiet. The areas close by that are country areas (like where I grew up (boonies I call them), are being overrun with druggies/meth heads. Police in our county are being cut back (no funding). So this town at least is a little safer, but all in all most of our neighbors are quiet and the kid only acts up for maybe an hour then he's off to something else. Wish the parents would send him to some day camp type thing when they work though. Just the other day he and his brother were playing in their pool (its a very very small pool (above ground - and not big enough to swim in, just more like sit in it (water comes up to just the knees on them), anyway...he kept egging their dog on saying come on barkly, come on, jump in jump in. Well the dog did and and then we heard a pop and the kid say "oh barkley I can't believe it, you tore the pool". My DH and I gave each other the "high five" (is that bad or what), but then we heard the kid say to his parents "Barkly busted the pool. I don't know why he came over to the pool. It's barkleys fault". We felt so bad for the dog and thought about how we could "innocently" talk to them and say something about "too bad your bratty unruly kid was egging the dog on having him jump in and out of the pool". :-) We just stay out of it.

Anyway...I'll bet you can't wait to move back to your place in the country. Your neighorhood kids sound like they need to be in juvee hall, so I won't be complaining about the brat next door anymore. Hopefully you'll get to move soon.
I feel like such a bad DIL complaining,
My MIL just called to tell me about a food chopper in a magazine that she was going to order and wanted to know if I wanted one. Then we talked about my taking my son to get his sports physical and I mentioned that I hopped it didn't take to long so I would be out in time to pick up my daughter from school, and she volunteered to get her if I couldn't. She really is a great lady in many many ways. BTW, she also has a huge collection of Boyd's Bears. Luckily she has't tried to give me more than one (becasue it's name is Kyle, the same as my hubby's.)
MTs are always complaining of not being seen as professionals
and by posting the above, do you think this helps? Working in your robe, PJs, etc. We complain about wages, the hours people expect us to work, just overall bad working conditions but especially being as most of us work from home, not having our jobs taken seriously. The above posts tend to confirm what others want to think.
Probably knew you'd be complaining about it
I'd say he expected you to carp on him about it, maybe because he really wanted it and figured you wouldn't, and that you'd complain about it, about the price, not really needing it, whatever.  I'd love it if my hubby brought home a nice new TV.
You should be complaining to the school..
Our SENIORS in high school were complaining at least 3 years ago about how much they hated the fact that they couldn't even have a single soda all year in school. Our vending machines only have sandwiches, lowfat pretzels, baked chips, juice and Propel (the Gatorade water). I think your school needs to be making some better choices.
Because I choose not too...I am not complaining, just said it would be easier.

I'm complaining to the English reps. pronto! No way this woman should

Doesn't offend me to hear Happy Holidays, Happy Hannuka...sm
or any way someone wants to greet me. As a basic rule, people use the greeting most comfortable to the speaker. What does burn my butt is when someone tries to tell me that my comfortable greeting of "Merry Christmas" is not appropriate. To those who are not concerned with my comfort, I have no concern for theirs.

Merry Christmas to all.
Birthday wish to justme2....Happy B-day to you, happy B-day to you. now make your wish...
I wanted to wish you a very Happy B-Day...I am aging so tomorrw I may forget or at least remember at midnight...LOL...to all you celebrating B-Days this month, Congrats
Happy Bikrthday to me, happy birthday
Unbelievable, I have reached the age of 65- where did the years go?? I would retire but gosh, darn just love this work so much, want to keep on working. Hubs had me a delicious huge chocolate cake this morning and daughter coming over for pizza tonight, oh forgot working today also but like I said, hard to give this terrific life up, that is a life in between my working!
Whatever my mother-in-law and mother are cooking--lol
we go to my in-laws for Christmas Eve and usually have ham and kielbasa (we are Polish) and then my mom usually has turkey or roasted chicken on Christmas Day
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. Hope it is a good one. nm

I agree - a mother is a mother and a daughter is a daughter for life sm
despite the problems they had, which i truly believe stem for anna's drug problems. obviously her mom wasn't too bad or she would not have raised daniel for a while. i think the mother wants her buried in Texas so the grave will be close enough that she can go visit it without having to come up with expenses of going to the bahamas to get there. although i contradict that too in poor anna needs to be buried with her son.
Happy Birthday to you, then you can wish me a happy birthday on Friday! sm
Aquarians Rule!!!!! LOL
Most men would be happy for a new toy.
My sister got me a toy many moons ago, I named it gumby. My son was 2 at the time and found it DURING a dinner party I was having. He ran into the room waving "gumby" over his head yelling that everyone should look at this sword. My mouth hit the floor and my friends just about peed in their pants laughing. :-)
Happy 4th everyone!!! (sm)
If you're off, have a wonderful day and enjoy it for all of us.  If you're working (like me), I hope we can keep productive and make it through another day with little or no downtime.  Again, Happy 4th of July!!!!
happy for you!

congratulations!  I hope to be debt free myself one of these days, and once I get out of debt, to be smart enough to stay out!

Enjoy the good feeling that you are getting out of all your hard work!

***** LOL, that should say I think you CAN be happy... ****

Sorry, didn't get enough sleep lastnight and it has been a long day already.  My 2 month old is not feeling well.

Happy 62 B-Day to you! nm

I'm so happy
What great news. I hope she stays on the right track. I'll continuing sending prayers.
They look so happy!
Are they all from the same litter?  Brothers and sisters?  Come on....tell us a little more about them!  They must be quite the handful!
Looks like a happy pup to me!

You know your dog better than anyone, and you know if he's happy.  My mom had a dog that would bark over every little thing and it made me not want to visit her.  It hurt my ears so bad I almost couldn't stand it.  She would put a bark collar on her when guests came over to spare them the assault on their ears, and we all appreciated it, let me tell you!  She tried several other methods, but they just didn't work on her dog.  Dogs are all different, just like kids.

I used to live in a duplex and the people next door had the most horrible barking dogs.  It really made my time in that place miserable.  I was pregnant and tired all the time but could not get a nap to save my life because of those darn dogs!  The owners have a responsibilty to the neighbors to keep their dogs fairly quiet in my opinion.  I am an animal lover (also a long-time vegetarian), but those dogs grated on my last animal-loving nerve!  Keep taking good care of your dog - he looks quite content and loved to me!

I think you should be happy
because there is a clinical reason for your troubles and those can be managed with meds and behavioral strategies. Best of luck to you. Please don't let it get you down. Better days are ahead. BELIEVE ME!
Wow! I'd be happy with
half of that!

We did get one snow here in NC that was close to 20 inches, and it was lots of fun, but also challenging because it happened all at once, just like you got, and regular cars can't drive until it's been cleared. Now up in WI, the plows would be on top of it immediately, but here in NC, homeowners were having to use shovels. It was like caveman days for about 4 days here! LOL.

You will be happy to know.....SM
That I called another Kohl's about a half hour away from me yesterday. They had the exact number of plates I needed, as well as other pieces............at 80% off, so I went ahead and got them.
Happy B-Day to me...Happy B-Day to me
Well, I just wanted to share that with all of you wonderful people.
Happy B-Day to you x66, and many, many more..

Wow,

Happy Birthday..and enjoy it to the fullest.  Hope it is a very pleasant one...

No, actually I am not happy - sm

I did not ask you to stop "gaming," I simply said there may be a solution to allow 2 Gab Boards so everyone is happy.

Happy M-day to me
Okay, I'm not a mom but I wish I was. Now I'm just too old to be one (I've lost every bit of patience for small children and getting ready for menopause (and no adoption is out). However, every time I see a small child my heart aches for the child I never had. So many mother's days gone by. No cards, no flowers. No child to wrap their little arms around my neck and say I love you. Spent most of my years going out to brunches to celebrate my mom, my grandma, my DH's grandma and mom, my sister-in-law with her 2 small children. My heart aches for what I never had and never will have. Now my DH kisses me and says happy mother's day from the Cat. Well I'm not as sad as I used to be. Took my sisters son to realize that I no longer want children (that and the Menendez brothers HA HA). So it's happy mother's day to me from the cat, who wakes me up in the morning by jumping on my pillow and rubbing her head against mine saying "wake up mommie, I'm hungry", then runs in front of me watching me to make sure I follow her to the kitchen. While working she will sit on my desk reaching out to touch me fingers while I type away on the keyboard. So happy m-day to me.
Happy B-day to you !
Be grateful you made it this far when so many others have not. Appreciate each day and live life to the fullest!
no, happy mt, they all come HERE and do that. (nm)
Is this not the dump board to them??

Thanks Happy MT...sm

The economy excuse would not be far from the truth either.  Just was not sure if it would sound too cliche these days.  It really is a good time to bring it up to her.  You are so right about Christmas being much more relaxing without gift exchange.  My friend is the only person I buy for; everyone else in my life is an adult, so they get stiffed!    But at least Christmas is mostly stress-free.  Thanks for replying.

happy for you
So glad to hear you got the good news. I have spent much of today worrying about the same as we have a sister who is with one of the chrysler dealers that is closing, and a son-in-law, and 2 very good friends who could be out of luck with GM closures. So far no word from any of them. I am very happy to hear that someone was on the side that had the good fortune to remain open. Good luck to you and your husband.
Happy B-day!
You are not expecting too much to expect your parents and your long term boyfriend to remember this special day in your life. I would probably give my boyfriend the silent treatment and when he says what is wrong say did you forget what day it was. My b-day. He will probably feel an inch tall then. Go to Dairy Queen and splurge on calories. You deserve it!
mother in-law help sm

Ok, so here is what is going on.  My mother in-law fell down some stairs and broke her leg.  She did not have insurance.  She had not been to a doctor in 27 years.  She has been in the hospital for about 4 days.  They had to do surgery and things are looking good.  She will have to have rehab for a few months, use a walker and so on.  Well, guess who they ask to take care of her for the next few months?  The "stay-at-home" mom who has all the free time in the world haha (not to mention I have a 3 year old who stays at home with me and a busy 6 year old in school).  This would consist of me taking her to the restroom, bathing, changing dressings, helping with rehab exercises, not to mention working 8 hours a day and making sure my 3 year old doesn't climb on her.  I feel bad for saying no, but I think that they should feel bad for asking me.  She has 5 children.  I feel that it is way too much responsibility for me to take on and that it absurd that they asked me.  Aren't there facilities where she can go at least for the 1st month?  Please help, just need advise.

And for anyone who wants to say "if it was your mother..."  Believe it or not, in June MY mother fell down some stairs and broke her ankle.  I was at her house every afternoon and we had people come in multiple times daily to check on her.  However, the mother in-law is about 25 years older and the extent of the injury is greater.  I would have never asked my husband to take care of her and help her do these things.

My mother-in-law
My mother-in-law keeps giving my Longaberger baskets for b-days and Christmas.  She loves these baskets and has over 100.  She visits the factory several times a year, (about a 4 1/2 hour drive) and often takes the female family members with her.  These baskets are beautiful but I am just not a basket person.  I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but these baskets are expensive and I have over 20.  When I tried to mention to her as politely as possible that I just don't need any more baskets, she told me that she often changes hers out so she can enjoy them all.  I would much rather have sheets, bath towels, cookware, or even a gift certificate for dinner.  My hubby and I have been married 19 years, have to children, and have a very good relationship with my mother-in-law.  She is a fabulous grandmother, but I am really tired of the baskets.  Any suggestions?
I also have MVP and so does my mother...
so I don't know if there is a correlation or not between the two...
My mother's cat
looked like it had mange and when I asked the vet about it he said he had never seen a cat with mange.  A friend told my mom that cats are extremely allergic to poinsettas and my mother had one sitting in the cat's favorite window.  After she threw out the flower the cat got better very quickly.
It's up to your mother-in-law to keep them in the

them.  Your sister-in-law should not even bring them over there anymore in my opinion.  If your mother-in-law's gate cannot hold them in for sure, then she absolutely should not watch them.

Your sister-in-law sounds selfish to me, so point out to her that it is unsafe for her OWN animals to be out running free, as anyone would have the right to shoot them if they were on their property threatening them.  Maybe then she will care!  Plus she (or you mom-in-law) could be sued if the dogs injure or kill someone or someone's animals.  Not to mention they would have to live with that for the rest of their lives.

Having seen my own mother do a 180
since the death of my own dad 3-1/2 years ago and learning the hard way from things that have happened - I would just keep my mouth shut and say nothing and do nothing.
mother . ..
This may not be comforting to you, but I wish my mom (also 80) would do something like that. I think she would enjoy the company, and the activities. We have an awesome ALF here in our town; it's like a mini city!!!! Be glad she is making this decision for you and that you don't have to push her. She may benefit tremendously from this!!!!
My mother once said and she was right...sm

tis better to raise children in a happy divorced home than a miserable married one.

I divorced my kids father and within 3 years, all of us were in a much better place and now, 16 years later, this still holds true!!!  This, I swear!!
