I agree. I am also from the Philadelphia area. I have to say I am 33 and I still write formal thank you notes all the time. I have to say that I am also appaulled when people ask for money or gift cards to Home Depot. I have children and they are taught manners and how to say thank you. I have received wedding pictures from people after the wedding but they have also wrote a small thank you note along with it.
