Birds and Mother Nature sm
The birds tell us a lot. The morning of the Great Blizzard of ྊ I could not hear myself think for the noise of the birds everywhere. I live in the NE, I had a feeling they were trying to tell us something. I packed up everything I had that day and left for home and stocked up. I was not able to get out for the whole next week and my husband could not get home. I was fully prepared, but did not know for what. They do warn us! Lots of acorns here this year as well which means it is supposed to be a bad winter. The same thing happened in 1978 with the acorns. We shall see!!
We ALL mess with mother nature

Who among us has not colored their hair, seen a plastic surgeon because we weren't satisfied with our bodies, took a pill to alter our mood or help a physical condition that made us uncomfortable?  Who has not dieted, worn colored contact lenses, got a perm, had liposuction?  Who didn't get their ears pierced, or love someone who has a body piercing or a tattoo?  Even if you never did any of these things, did it make you "sick" whenever someone else did?

Why is it MY business what someone else does with their body?  Oh, that's right, it isn't.  If I don't like your decision to become a blonde, should it make me "sick"?  Should I sneer at you and throw rocks because I personally don't like it that you got breast implants?  Well, that's what people do to people that change their sex.  What gives them the right?

mother nature never intended for YOU to
It was something that just happened to you. You choosing feels unnatural because it is, and it won't ever feel natural. BUT no one cares if you have a baby or not if you really want to keep your freedom. Babies are a lot of work.
I know it's their nature
That's why I posed: What kind of a plan is that?

The older I get, the freakier it all seems!
Nah, just a big fan of the nature shows.
I forgot manatees. I shoulda said mermaids. :o>

Human nature...sm
How many people make New Years resolutions (pledges)?  How many break them during the year?  Teens are fighting hormones, peer pressure, constant exposure in TV shows/movies, etc.  With few exceptions, I think pledges are meaningless unless the person making them is determined to carry them out.  I agree with another poster about the father-daughter pledge events.  I think it is a bit creepy.
Thank you Nature and Anna
It's nice that others can sympathize with me. I just don't know what it is. One time years and years ago I told him I was feeling depressed and wanted to talk with a counselor. Boy did we have a blow out. He told me I should be able to talk to him about anything and I told him I can't. I told him he judges me and no matter what I feel or think he comes back with "you need to look at things the way I do". He's done that ever since we got married. When I wanted children and he didn't I was supposed to look at things the way he did. When I wanted to see my family but he didn't want me to travel because flying was not safe I was suppose to look at things the way he does. Once I told him you need to look at this the way I do and he said to me "no, because your wrong". I've heard how wrong I am for 25 years now that I just keep my feelings and opinions to myself. Once I accidentally broke a leaf off of one of his plants and he yelled at me for about 2 or 3 hours and I felt like a child with him saying "do you have anything to say for yourself". Then I got the same lecture for 2 hours my dad would give me growing up, and him saying I need to look at this the way he does (me destroying his plants and how would I feel if he destroyed something of mine). Oh hears a good one that will give you a laugh.... we were talking about how bad the crime is where we live. I told him that they should allow citizens from each section of the town pull a neighborhood watch and drive around and have the authority to arrest individuals committing crimes. He looked at me like I was nuts and said 'how, how, how do you think they would do that, they don't have enough money, etc, etc. Then he told me the way to solve it would be to evacuate everyone out of the city, shut down all the roads and make the town a ghost town (mind you this is a town of over 50K people with businesses, restaurants, and stores throught). HA HA...I felt like saying...gee your right honey, I should look at things the way you do.

I guess the weirdest thing though is that I've never had dreams with my my DH in my dreams. Maybe in the beginning I had a dream or two, but that was maybe 20 years ago. Also I know a lot of people can see themselves older and with their spouses, but I have never ever pictured us old together. I don't know what it is but it's like when I look into my future I can see myself with gray hair and being with my family and friends, but he's just not there.

Sometimes I read people's messages and am a little envious and would like to be in a relationship like some are, but I cannot imagine what that would be like. But on the otherhand, I am a very independent person, very sure of myself, and the thought of being alone does not bother me at all. I always think that being alone does not necessarily mean being lonely.

Anyway...just wanted to say thanks for your kind words.
Nature shows on PBS make me cry.
.
I know its human nature to discuss things such as

there is a 21-year-old college student missing from my home town.  She has not been seen since Friday.  Her name is Leah Hickman.  Her sister and the police were on Fox News last night - Greta (not sure of her last name) interviewed them.  Please keep Leah and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

I agree. It is in some people's nature to use those words.
My supervisors at work call me sweetie because they are southern and that is how they speak. Does the teacher treat everyone like that and it is just not part of your speaking style, or is there something else that seems inappropriate about it?
Nature's Plus Source of Life vitamins.
They are made from whole foods rather than synthetic vitamins and guarantee a burst of energy. If I don't take them a few days, I can really tell a difference. I love them.
may be same problem as we have in winter -
extremely dry skin - daughter's BF has a pit and they were told to use a veterinary oatmeal shampoo and he is on some mega fatty acid capsule, vitamin E, but the oil on his food may be accomplishing that.  Try a humidifier, keep the heat (if you are in a cold area, of course) lower.
You don't have to do winter wonderland (sm)
You can do traditional Christmas decorations if the majority celebrates it. I am sure this will not be a big suprise to him - he has seen people celebrate Christmas all his life. He doesn't expect you to stop celebrating it but he doesn't have to participate of course.
I like winter, especially since I dont have to get out

I don't hate winter, but
enough is enough! Yeah, I know it's only February. We've been spoiled here in the Northeast. The last few winters have been so warm I'd started believing in global warming. Now I'm starting to think new ice age instead!
Awfully defensive in all your posts. IMO, you're a nature nut. Don't you see that most people

Loved all the nature stories! Good stuff.
I enjoy my bird friends. Great entertainment value. Put out a sprinkler and watch the robins, cardinals some sort of little sparrow-like birds show up. They love a refreshing shower.
Disagree-it is NOT human nature. My husband thinks that too (sm)
My husband covered his fishing pole in the back of his truck one day because he said some "average Joe might walk by and take it" because it was just too tempting with it showing. Average Joe wouldn't rummage through the truck and take it - that would just make him a thief, but if Average Joe saw a fishing pole there in plain sight, he might take it. That is wrong to say that you cannot expect someone to come into your home and work for ou and not take anything, that it is human nature. It is NOT human nature. It is stealing and it is wrong. I am not perfect by any means but if I was working as a housekeeper I would not take anything that was not mine.
So were they stolen by a thief? Lol or just a person with human nature? (sm)
I probably would have just warned the cleaning person that some things had been missing and if she happened to put something in a new place to let me know because were having some things we could not find. If it continued I would find someone else.
Got 5" here...lots of snow this winter...nm

Yes! I'm like a dog shedding my winter coat! nm

I'm a backpacker and winter camper.
I've even had frostbite before I learned how to stay warm. I buy my socks from REI.com. (Sometimes can find the same brands cheaper at places like Campmor.com and SierraTradingPost.com)

There's a good selection, and you can read the descriptions for each. The socks I buy keep my feet warm while I hike ten miles in the snow. You might not need that level of warmth! Also, they are kind of pricey. Good luck!
winter wedding what to wear?
What does a guest wear to a winter wedding?
robins don't always leave for the winter
any more.  Depending on how good food sources are.  You probably have a hawk if his tail has stripes horizontally.  He may pick off a robin.
Summer here is great.. wish I was in FL in winter though :)

Winter blues in New England
I have lived here in the NE for 20+ years and am fed up with the winters. I'm single so I'm thinking of picking up and moving south (East Coast though). Can anyone point me in the right direction for a decent area? I want sun and warmth!
I think if you were not angry

you would not be human.  You did the right thing and she did the wrong thing.  Try to hold your head high and remember that instead of being angry.  I have learned that MOST OFTEN, people who ask for money are wasting money and they start to think of your money as an easy backup source if they don't feel like pinching pennies.  This is America and there are resources out there for emergency situations.  The trouble is, the other resources that are in place for emergencies require some effort on the part of the one needing help.  It's a lot more convenient to go to a friend for help, especially if they learn they won't have to pay it back.

It is much better to give money rather than to loan it.  But now you know you were taken advantage of.  Lesson learned.  You are a good person!

You are right to be angry (sm)
I would talk to him, probably by phone and say in as calm a voice as you muster up, that your daughter has dyslexia and that she is already sensitive and struggling with that and that by calling her lazy, it really hurt her feelings. The reason I would do this nicely is because if your daughter slept over there, she must really like the other child and you wouldn't want to alienate them from each other. I have issues with a neighbor but because my children like to play with hers, I have to step gingerly when I talk to her about things - if it was just me I was thinking of I would be happy to just give her a peice of my mind! But in my children's best interest I choose my words carefully. I am so sorry that he treated her that way though, and you are 100% right to be upset.
not angry, just sad

I don't know when this started, or why.  I guess I didn't notice until I had my child around the time my sisters had theirs, and there was a big difference in how often she saw each one.  I have talked to mom about this before, and it goes nowhere.  She gets all guilty and cries and apologizes, and then nothing changes.  She means well, but actions speak louder than words.

"If you love something, set it free.  If it comes back to you, its yours.  If it doesn't, it never was."  I guess that pretty much says it all.

Have you ever seen anyone more angry looking?

It's a picture of a local prostitute. She was arrested for pimping out her own daughter.

Who are you angry at?
Not me because I think Susan was a jewel of a find. I also happen to like Simon and did not find him in any way condescending or the like. I guess you would have to know/like him in the first place to realize this.

After an absolutely crummy winter/spring...

Here in the beautiful Pacific NW, I mean really cold, below normal temps, snow very late into the season...

We are expecting some 90+ degree days starting tomorrow into the weekend - and I for one am HAPPY!  My poor halter tops haven't seen daylight for so long I forgot what they look like.

You are one angry lady!
I'm not sure what your problem is.

I'm not the OP, but I can certainly tell you that every doglover in the world has the right to have their pet in their own space. Not in mine, though.

Public places that are not designed for dogs include shopping malls, etc. (except pet stores where that is the entire focus of their business).

Perhaps a dog is the only thing that can be nice to you with that attitude of yours!

Calm down!!
me2-cannot stand Jen and was angry she got HOH

You're right to be angry
I would have pointed out to her that as proud as you are of your daughter for making the team, you feel that putting family first is a higher value for you and your husband.

I hope you have a wonderful meal with your father-in-law. Your child is lucky to have parents like you and your husband.
venting and angry
My daughter had this same problem 2 years ago. I finally called the doctor, and the nurse asked me if we have animals. I told her that we did, and she said that they need to be treated as well. So, along with treating my daughter, bagging all her stuffed toys, vacuuming and steaming everything else she had been in contact with I bathed the cats in a shampoo for animals that helps treat lice. We didn't have problems with them again. Maybe you should find out if this child's family has pets, and if so, make a suggestion that they treat them as well. I know this is a frustrating and expensive problem, but as was stated earlier, I think educating the child's mother is the Christ-like thing to do. If she gets angry about your help/suggestions, then you know that you did your part. Hang in there!!
Don't stay angry, instead get EVEN.
been there, done that. no need to be in a hurry, either. if you take months or even years to get even, you have just that much more time to come up with something truly memorable.

or, you can do something swift and simple, like blocking their emails on your pc as spam.

I am the OP and I did not mean to get people angry here. SM
I have not turned my kinds against my husband, in fact I have always defended his actions to them, but now they are old enough to make up their own minds based on his actions. He is not a bad man, but he is just all about him and can be very demeaning and hurtful to me and my girls. Seems like he always has an alterior motive, which is usually something to gratify himself and his needs.

He just does not make me happy and I don't wish him any harm, in fact I want him to be happy. I just don't think I am the person who can make him happy, really.

I am able to financially support my children and I know that without him in the picture, none of us would have to walk on eggshells anymore. That's all.
Weather
It's 27 degrees here in Upstate NY with a lot of snow. It's a heat wave for us today. LOL.
Weather in NY
This coming week in Upstate NY it's going to be 95 and possibly above. It should get a little warmer in Lake George, I would think...possibly? It's always a lot of fun in Lake George. When I was young, we went there very year on vacation for many years.
North Dakota. :D Freeze in winter/fry in summer ;)

Well, this is our coldest period right now.  But having it -30 to -60 with the windchills certainly isn't any surprise.  In summer we can be in the 80s and 90s with very high humidity.  LOL!  We always say, if you don't like the weather... just wait a minute.

And if you live where it freezes in winter, the filter MUST be emptied

I was so angry Gina went last night (sm)
Before last night it just seemed like a silly stunt that was being pulled, between Vote for the Worst and Howard Stern, but last night because a really talented person left before Sanjaya, it went too far and really angered me. I agree with the poster below about Howard Stern being a hypocrite, and the VFTW website seems to be run by some lame people who have nothing better to do. They don't seem to realize that in the process they are actually hurting Sanjaya, not helping him, but they don't seem to care. They just have their own agenda. Something needs to be done, but I can't imagine what because we do have free speech in this country, which normally is a great thing. There, I've had my rant!
I agree/always seems very negative and angry.
