I think I found what I really need today and I had some Cuban coffee at a little shop up the street. I am in total love! The guy wanted to know if I knew what it was before I bought and told him drank some in a smaller cup in Santo Domingo, did not think it would be any stronger and goody for me, just hit the spot. The guy suggested my getting an expresso maker and might just do. I did not get around to chewing on the beans, though.

Well I was just kidding about chewing on the beans!

But I am very happy that you found something strong enough - I guess espresso should do it.  I have only had espresso once myself and it was bitter, but I understand that making it correctly is a kind of an art form.

I don't think I have had Cuban coffee, but I'll sure keep my eyes peeled for it.  I love to try new things.

speaking of coffee -- beans that is,

does anyone dip their c. beans in baking chocolate for snacks?  I heard you can do this, but wondered if they are real hard, too strong or just plain tasty this way???

Eat beans several times a day. Filling, nutritious, nonfat. Refried beans w/eggs, white beans in

how about chewing food?
or worse yet, drinking (slurping) quite rude, I think!

any idea what causes it and if it is okay to put tea tree oil on it? He is 14 years old and has been doing this for a couple of weeks.  Has a raw spot there now.
Increase your line count by chewing gum!

I have tried this off and on for a few months and every time I chew gum all day my line counts go up.  For some reason they say spearmint is the best.  I find that it increases my focus and keeps me alert and helps me type faster!!

Current studies are looking into three areas of potential benefits, the company says:

• Stress management: What's behind the common practice of chewing gum to relieve tension? Wrigley cites research showing that it stimulates certain areas of the brain, but wants to go further. "Consumers tell us they use it for that, and yet we don't understand how that comes about," Kumar said.

• Weight management: As a 5- to 10-calorie substitute for a high-calorie snack, gum could obviously reduce caloric intake. But does it help suppress appetite? "It's not that chewing gum has any particular magic, but it can be a useful behavior modification pill," said Gilbert Leveille, executive director of the Wrigley Science Institute, which held its inaugural meeting in Chicago in December.

• Cognition and focus: Is gum-chewing a way to increase focus, concentration and alertness? Wrigley points to studies that show that it increases blood flow to the brain but would like to see it linked definitively to higher concentration levels.

Yes, do exactly what kam suggested - more
They do that in our area all the time. Those riders will turn out in force, protect the family with a show of support, and not intrude on their grief. Please give it a try!
to the one who suggested

Hello!  I just wanted to thank you so much for your suggestion!  We had my daughter's birthday party last weekend and it was a huge success!  The girls had no clue.  I sent out bogus invites and they all thought it would be at 2:00 Saturday afternoon.  It took them all a while to wake up and figure out what was going on when we'd pick them up.  They had a blast going to the next house and waking up the next girl.  They all went out for breakfast in the PJ's and we came back to our house.  I bought boys undershirts and some fabric paint and they had loads of fun decorating them and signing all their names on each shirt.

I couldn't believe how often I heard "THIS IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY PARTY I'VE EVER BEEN TO!!" and "THESE SHIRTS ARE WAAAY BETTER THAN GOODIE BAGS!"

So many parents asked me how I thought up this brilliant party plan and I had to tell them all that I posted on here for suggestions and someone shared the idea with me.. I could not take credit and I just want to thank you!!!!

I want to tell you about what you have suggested
I think your call for a sympathy card is completely out of order. I think offending would be a good word if you sent this. The child has a malady that is correctable. Years ago my mother from nowhere sent a sympathy card to my aunt, her sister. No one had died. My aunt who was a nurse asked a psychiatric physician she knew what it meant, as no one in the family had died. The physician told her she has a death wish for you! I don’t know how true this was, but it happened. I would back off from much of anything right now, let the friend have a little time before pushing in on her.
You were always right, because you suggested this in
your 1st post, point 3).
I wondered only, but now you convinced me.

But she has to make sure to lcck the door between house and garage!
For those who suggested alcohol..sm
alcohol is a stimulant and will have just the opposite effect. Melatonin helps, but I don't like its after effects, and it does have some. I recently came across a native american remedy called Cloud Walking Tea. It is a tea and it works. I sleep peacefully with no after effects.
The ads I read suggested
Mucinex and it has no other ingredients, not cough syrup at all. That was the reason I asked if anyone else had tried and if any success.
No one has ever suggested biofeedback
dont have a clue as how that works. You would think asking up front - does the clinic treat fibromyalgia - surely to God they could get it right and a yes or no would save my time and expense from even going there - I spent a few minutes before working looking for an acupuncture clinic reasonably close- I would try that as one of the posts says above. I can touch my ribs and that is where the pain is and whether he says they cannot be front and back, I surely to goodness know what hurts. Not one person ever suggested the feedback though.
I suggested this on other board, but
reply was lost when message was moved. Are you perhaps allergic to this, or maybe you have an infection that you don't know about and it is reacting with a discharge?
My dermatologist had suggested but
I was disbelieving that it would really work, thought would take a lot longer than what you say. Was your loss extensive and what was it from? Do you still use? I am so hopeful now because feel I have found a kindred soul that has been in the same boat (or still is?). Thanks.
Beans, beans, beans
Beans taste really good with cheese and picante, and there are so many spices and spice packets, bouillon cubes are great too. Stock up on salt and spices!
True, yet the lady still could have suggested since it was
the LITTLE GIRL she was dealing with when the mothers back was turned that it was worth more than $2.00.  It really sound like the woman took advantage...Again, taking candy from a baby.  That's my point. Such a shame.
I am so grateful to the post who suggested
this might have been my big boys problem because it was. At first thought I had gotten something smelly on me, threw away a good sweater but guess I had just had him in my arms and some how PVT and that is what my stepmom taught my brother and me- puke, vomit and throwup. Wasn’t she just great! The assitant at the veterinarian clinic was going to tell me does not happen with felines. Hold on, the doctor standing right there and sure enough, he expressed the glands after having to shave his rear end. That boy weighs 21 and a half pounds so he is a big one, probably cannot get to the areas he needs to clean good. Oh well, today he is at the groomers to cut down on that gosh awful smell he had yesterday. PVT again!
Like cat suggested if you have left over carpet
somewhere that is a possibility. We once cut a piece out of a closet so you never knew it was missing. BTW, Jennie Garth went home. Used to be a big 90210 fan so that was disappointing.
Dried Beans

I always used to use those for bean soup for our family reunion. About 10 years ago, I made it and the beans were still crunchy!  First time I had that problem. I had to throw it all out (20 quarts) and start all over again, yet only had 1 day until the reunion, ran out and bought canned beans. Worked. Now I use canned beans instead.

Never knew what happened, but I'd rather use dried beans because of the cost and shelf life.

Yeah, I was gonna suggested a 'smackin'...

as the 'or' word, but I'm working on being more, um, understanding I guess is the word I'm looking for.  And you know what, it's reeeeely reeeeely hard in cases like these!

OK, this is going to sound weird, but I'm surprised nobody else suggested it... sm

but the key to a good sex life is to know your own body.  I mean *down there.* Without your partner!  Get a little vibrator, they even sell them now at supermarkets and drugstores in the aisle where they sell condoms.  I think the polite term is personal massager.  Also get some lubricant.  You can go the whole route with candles, in the bath, read a sexy book, use your imagination.  Then once you figure THAT out, you can help direct your partner... show him what you learned.  A whole new world will open up for you!

Ham, mac & cheese, and bakekd beans here.

Kinda off topic here, but I hate it when a husband is suggested
I never babysitted by own child, I took care of her, by myself at that, but that is another story for another time. Just wanted to share that babysitting thing!!!

And also, most men are not nurturers (sp), we know this as mothers, but yes they can and should participate in child rearing as they helped created this human being.
Guess it got moved. I suggested a large or 2 smaller

I buy Dunkin Donuts Beans in their store....or...sm

Sometimes I go to the grocery store and buy Colombian beans (I love Colombian coffee, among many others) to grind - Brothers brand is really good, believe it or not.

Also, in Dunkin Donuts while you're buying a nice cup of their coffee, they sell beans, their beans - and they had a sale - buy 1 pound, get the next one like half price.....I cannot remember, as it was a couple of months ago...but I bought 2 pounds and still have one in the fridge to grind.

I NEVER grind in the store.  I have a little $30 grinder I picked up somewhere - Target?  Wal-Mart?  Can't remember that either.....but I grind a container full (like a week's worth) at one time.  You can do more or less - it's personal choice there, or you can grind daily - it's that simple a thing.

But I'll tell you the truth - no matter that I'm grinding Dunkin Donuts beans - it NEVER tastes as good as buying it at their store... I don't know what it is - I use Half N Half (like they do) and it still pales in comparison to the ready-made Dunkin Donuts coffee in their store...

could just be a psychological thing here going on in my head about that.........*lol*

Happy Java hunting :)

plant protein and fiber. Great option for vegetarian.

This is a great beanice dish:

rice
beans (any kind)
onions (chopped small)
olives
turmeric
spices

Fry a little in olive oil or canola oil, then cook in water, 1:2, or 1:1/2, depending on kind of rice.

You can substitute beans with lentils or chickpeas, or put all 3 together....

Beans for supper...sounds like an experiment in our house. nm

Coffee??

My hubby and I love McDonalds coffee.  I am currently using Folgers, but it actually tastes bitter.  Any smooth coffees out there that might be your favorite or something close to McDonalds?  Thanks.

Coffee, coffee and more coffee.

Why does she see have a cup of coffee with her
hubby each morning you ask?  BECAUSE THAT IS THE KEY TO A HAPPY MARRIAGE!  Always have a cup of coffee with your husband before he leaves for work because you can always go back to bed!  This was told to me by a woman I worked with that was passed down from her mother.  Staying in bed back in those days (before women worked outside of the home) was considered lazy.  I always get up and have a cup of coffee with my husband, and I see the kids off to school.  I can always go back to bed, but I don't.  I just start typing, which usually leads to laundry, more typing, straightening up the house, more typing, trolling this board, more typing, petting the cat, more typing, and then more COFFEE!!!!!  lol  Have fun!
oh but I think we DO get together for coffee...s/m

virtually/cyberly speaking, that is *grin*

Coffee for four?

Mission accomplished everyone!  Got an email from my mutual friend on this board and I have replied.  It is nice when you finally know a first name. I will admit I can talk you under the table about my love for dogs. At first it seemed impossible to know each one of the breeds by name when I would watch the American Kennel Club Dog Show and Westminster, but now with 167 breeds in AKC I am right up with them. However, that will quickly go to 169 when they welcome two new breeds into the club, which I think is to be very soon. When I went to a show in April they introduced the new hound, the  Plott. It is really beautiful.

Thanks for your nice comments!

don't be shy, just tell him so over a cup of coffee that you asked him out for.

Anyone grind their own coffee???
I would love to get the good coffee taste such as Dunkin Donuts and have thought about getting some to grind. Has anyone done this and if so how is it as compared to what you get in the stores? Thanks.
Got my new coffee maker from
coffeeandkitchen.com. They have several models but think I read above someone who had thermal and I went that route. My hubby thinking he was getting the best if he paid a lot more for it, got a coffee pot, Cuisinart, that I detest!! As soon as you make the coffee and pour, lukewarm. Yucko....I am now wanting to get coffee grinder. Might go back to that site and check those out.
I'm 50 and coffee was my eye opener. Don't

know what happened, but it doesn't work for me anymore.  I sleep anywhere from 6 to 8 hours and that doesn't help.  Can't seem to concentrate on work either.  LOL - Yikes, I"m a mess

RE: Need a new coffee maker
Capresso brand, either at Linens and Things, Bed, Bath and Beyond. Purchased mine at Neiman Marcus $160....absolutely worth every cented drop! It's a thermal carafe type so you never have burnt coffee taste. Always keeps coffee perfect temp, first cup to the last.
