Where did the recipe board go?sm

I am looking for a dessert recipe that will hold up in traveling.   I am driving to a graduation party two hours away.  I live in New England and right now it is super hot.  I can put it on ice.  I do not know what to bring.  This person is constantly bringing something to our house when she comes.  A plant, a bottle of wine, a candle etc.  The party is being catered (in their backyard) so I am thinking more on the way of  a dessert. Any suggestions?

TY - sounds yummy! I wish there was a recipe board! nm

Would LOVE to see the recipe board come back!
Hopefully the rest of you feel the same in this economy and with the holidays coming up. Perhaps a moderator will look into it.
Could someone tell me if there is a Christianity board as well as a prayer board (sm)
or are they one in the same? I have some faith related questions, but don't want to post on the prayer board again if it is specifically for prayer requests. I do not see a Christianity board listed. Thanks so much.
Main board, gab board, company, etc, just like here,
x
naw - that was the old board that did that, aka the 'other' board!
why was it here and not on the Politics board anyway?
Recipe

I love this and you can use a variety of types of yogurts/berries.

Frozen Yogurt

An 8-ounce container of yogurt (I uses Dannon Light)

An 8-ounce container of cool whip (Lite or Low-Fat)

A package of berries (no sugar added).

Mix all together and freeze in a pie plate or cake pan. I mostly use strawberries and strawberry yogurt, and now they even have strawberry cool whip, but not lite or fat-free.

For other company, I sometimes add in some Splenda to sweeten the berries, or put in a graham cracker crust.

You could also make sugar free chocolate pudding, and mix in cool whip.  Stir together and put in parfait cups with a shot of Reddi Whip on top.  This is always a fun treat.

Sorry it is late in coming but, hopefully, you can use in the future as well.

SIL's recipe....
It sounds like your SIL is just the ticket!!!!

I've seen other recipes that are quite similar, and people have raved no end. But, in these recipes the meat cooks for a much, much, much shorter length of time.

I'm sure they're just as wonderful as the cooks and their dinner guests swear, but I've been rather stuck and quite stubborn on "my" recipe.

So, tell your SIL: Help!...Dinner is this weekend and my co-host and I were hoping to go shopping today, tomorrow at the verylatest.

Why I'm stuck on this one, I don't know, but Lord how I remember that taste, that smell!

Thanks so much!

need a recipe!
Does anyone have an easy recipe for a yummy, ooey, gooey cream cheese pastry that they'd like to share?  Thanks!!
no recipe but
Try going to allrecipes.com and see if you can find one there for that! Do you want hamburger beef or real like beefsteak? Just buy some refried beans in a can, some tortillas, fry up some burger and add some burrito seasoning or salsa and wrap them up! Add a bit of sour cream and black olives, the works on top..oh I'm getting hungry now!
Bonappetite!
recipe help
Anyone have a good easy recipe for cornbread dressing?  My mom has always made it, but I 'm making everything this year and want to use something other than hers to surprise her!
My BBQ recipe...sm

I brown 1 lb hamburger with a couple of tablespoons of green pepper and onion. Then add 3/4 cup ketchup, 1 tablespoon mustard, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons vinegar, and 3 drops of liquid smoke. Simmer covered for about 20 minutes on low. You can add a little water if it gets too thick. If you don't like it to be sweet, cut down on the brown sugar. Sometimes I use left over roast instead of the hamburger.

Another recipe
I use 1 small can of tomatoes, whole or chopped but without seasoning, 1/2 green bell pepper, 1/4 onion, 2 cloves of garlic (or powder in a pinch), 1 packet of salsa seasoning mix from the grocery store (I haven't found one that I don't like), and if I have it I add a little lime juice (about 1 tablespoon of juice) and a tablespoon of dried cilantro. Add hot sauce or jalepenos if you like. You can chop it as chunky or smooth as you like using food processor or blender. We like it fairly smooth.

I keep the chopped onions and bell peppers in the freezer so I always have them and the seasoning mixes go on sale a couple times a year at the grocery store (3/$1) and I stock up on those. This is always what I am asked to bring to parties and gatherings. For some reason even kids who don't like salsa like it - haven't found a kid yet who doesn't like it. It's great because I can keep everything on hand and it takes about 5 minutes to make.
There is a recipe
on the side of the Hershey's Cocoa container. It is simple and a great recipe! I'm sure you could add your own chocolate chips, chunks, or shavings to make it extra special. Maybe even some Andees mint shavings to make it peppermint, yum!
Recipe for you!
Buckeyes

2 cups peanut butter
1 stick margarine, melted
3 cups sifted confectioners sugar
16 ounces chocolate chips
1/3 bar paraffin wax

In a large bowl combine the peanut butter, margarine and confectioners sugar and mix well. Chill, form into walnut size balls. Melt chocolate chips and paraffin in a double boiler. Dip balls into chocolate mixture to coat. Place on wax paper until firm.

Could someone share the recipe for these?  Thanks.
Thank you so much for the recipe!!!
Thanks about my niece, i may be a little biased but... i love her.

I moved to Myrtle Beach, SC and am up visiting them in Jacksonville for Christmas! You are here too? that's very cool! The weather is funny... back home they will have a white Christmas but out here I was on the beach last week hangin!! The South is very different and I love it, but the humidity is DEFINITELY something that makes me think twice about living here...

I will try these cookies, it's a surprise since my sis is always busy with the baby and her hubby really wanted some.

Not sure of exact recipe, but here: (sm)
Scoop out seeds & gunk of a pie pumpkin, keeping lid to use later. Use apple slices, raisins /cranberries/other dried fruit, walnuts (or other nuts of your choice) to fill pumpkin along with brown sugar, butter, and a little cinnamon. Bake at 450 degrees until you can easily poke through the pumpkin flesh inside. You may want to wait and put the lid in partway through baking, so it doesn't dry out and shrink. Serve in the pumpkin, and as people spoon out a little of the filling they can scrape the inside of the pumpkin to get some of the flesh.

My grandma made this, and she never writes down her recipes. So when I asked her, she said to experiment with whatever, so the above is really only a loose guideline.
Thanks for sharing this recipe
I'm going to visit my daughter at college soon so I plan on bringing a bunch of "supplies".  She lives in a house with about 6 other girls this semester.  I'm going to bake a bunch of these to bring also !

I have an excellent recipe if you want it. sm
just make a note under this message, I'll check later and type it in.

I thought you had a recipe! LOL.. sm

I was wondering what type of a recipe you had for an ice cream treat  instead, you described a nice scene with Cupid.  I lost mine a couple years ago and was thinking about welcoming a new one to the house.  You may have actually convinced me to do it.  Our 4-legged friends are such stress relievers and, boy, could I use one now.

RECIPE CONSOLIDATION sm

When I find a new recipe on line I bookmark it. I have at least 50 bookmarked.  When people give me a recipe I type them into Microsoft Word.  Does anyone know of a program that is like a Recipe box on line that you can actually put your recipes into and categorize them.

TIA

foodtv.com has a Recipe Box with it. Just have to log in to

Just tried your hamburger BBQ recipe...sm
and it was GREAT!

I usually use Manwich or a package seasoning mix because I've never found a homemade recipe that we liked very well, but tried yours tonight and it was wonderful!!... even without the green peppers, since I didn't have any.

Thanks!

Thanks for recipe. Will try it out tonight. nm

I would love the recipe too!
I am allergic to many laundry soaps so I usually buy "Free and Clear" which is a little more costly than others. Maybe this could be perfect for me! It certainly would not have any additives like fragrance and dye.
Thanks for sharing your recipe!
That was really nice and thoughtful of you. I can't wait to try it.
Bread recipe
When you say you put yeast in hot water, do you mean just warm water??  I thought hot water would make the yeast not work.
Anyone have a to-die-for recipe for salsa? Thanks! nm

Yes, will you post the recipe please?
I think I know kind of what you are talking about, but I don't think the ones I am thinking of have peanur butter in them, so I would love the recipe! Thanks
Here's the simplest (and best to me) recipe sm
12 oz. pkg. butterscotch chips
12 oz. jar peanut butter
9 oz. can chow mein noodles

Melt chips in a saucepan, add peanut butter and remove from heat. Stir well. Add chow mein noodles. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.

Sorry, cleaning all day, here is recipe sm
I would set the oven at about 350-375 degrees, no higher or lower, I add everything at once, the apple juice, the butter, etc., and cover with foil just so it won't make a mess in the oven. I love the conventional oven, I guess you could microwave it (but not with foil, of course). It depends on the squash itself, some are harder than others, but I would say 45 min. to an hour. Stick a fork in it and you can tell if it's soft. You can do it the night before and just "nuke" it on TDay to warm it up. My refrigerator will not hold all this stuff plus the turkey -- that's the problem, as it is with others, I am sure. If the temp outside is not freezing, i.e., under 32 degrees, I put a large cooler outside and move all the canned and bottled drinks there - out the door and use the extra room. I have a little office size fridge in the basement for extra. Have a great day. The cleaning is the worst part and my husband gets angry because in 5 minutes the place looks like a tornado hit it. but at least I know it's clean and neat for the start of things. Happy Turkey Day!  I do a lot the night before or day before now, as I find if soaked in water on the stove, it isn't harming anyone, then just turn the heat on and cook, or even cook the night before, smash it up and nuke it to warm it up. It's all about SPACE!
Share your recipe??
Funny - I've just recently gotten back into salsa (bad single days experience involving too much drinking and that was over 14 years ago!) Anyways, hubby loves salsa also and I would love to surprise him and make some homemade! TIA

Hot Chocolate Recipe
I'm looking for a good hot chocolate recipe using semi-sweet chocolate and regular milk (not cream or half-and-half).  I over bought on the chocolate chips.  I have checked recipes.com and will check a few other sites later.  Just thought in the meantime someone here might have a good recipe to share.  :)  TIA!
Need recipe for kale (sm)

I have never tried Kale before, and frankly, green beans and broccoli are getting OLD.  So I got a bunch of kale the other day and would like to fix it tonight.  Anyone have a good starter recipe for it that would be a good way to introduce new kale eaters?

thanks.

I LOVE THIS RECIPE!

Now I know what to take to the next church carry-in.  I had forgotten about this dessert.  It is delicious!

need recipe ideas
I bought some frozen bread dough (a whole package that comes in little round balls), it's white bread and you let it rise and then bake it. I did that and to tell the truth it doesn't have much flavor. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could do with these for something with flavor (got a whole package of them left and hate to just throw them out). I was thinking maybe little pizza's? Does anyone think they would taste good like that or is it wrong kind of dough? Any other ideas?
I got your email, sent you the recipe, ...
if you don't get it let me know will resend.. :D
Another good corn recipe

1 15-16 can Mexicorn

1 small package yellow rice

6-8 oz cheddar cheese

1 can cream of chicken soup

Cook rice according to package directions. Mix with all other ingredients. Pour into small casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

very, very tasty

Does anyone have a good turkey recipe?? SM

Due to last week's turn of events I'm having turkey day at my house with my husband and kids.  I've never cooked a turkey before.  I have a very large slow cooker/roaster I've never used before and would like to cook it in there.  What kid of spices do you put on it.  I've got the stuffing taken care of, but am not sure what to do with the outside of the turkey.  I'd like it to have some special flavoring if possible.

TIA for the ideas.
