Amen! A great IQ score is wonderful, but there are some dummies in the MT world!

Amen! Amen! Amen. You have helped me this day, by taking out time to write such a post!
May God bless you tremendously.
Amen, Sister! Great way to start the day! sm
You are so right, and thank you for reminding (me) of this.
Amen to that. Great post! Thanks for sharing! nm

Great! Now if we could only get the entire corporate world

IT for Dummies??

I need advice from all you kind knowledgable ITers out there.

Do you substitue letters for numbers on glossary entries?

When I am typing and say I would like line 3, but line 10 has a 3 in it (example: oriented x3) line 10 will come automatically. Does anyone know of any way to avoid this.

I am new to IT but am afraid as I more entries it will create a problem.

Thanks for your help and may God hold you in the palm of His hands!

Thanks so much! I see a Word for Dummies

Expanders for Dummies

Over the last several days I have been reading about Expanders on this board. A few names  mentioned have been Mary Morten, Barb Grow etc. I do have IT but am still learning to use it. Many advised to Google ABCZ.

I am sure this is all good advice (always is), but I always wonder what in the world are people talking about.I am not new to transcription but I am new to production. My mother is seriously ill and I chose to work at home to avoid placing her in a nursing home. My pay is still VERY LOW  and I look at these boards for help. I must admit, though, that most times the posts (not medically) are way over my head.

Can someone steer me in the right directon?

Thank you and may God hold you in the Palm of His Hand!! (green for Irish)

Check out "Transcription For Dummies"
Just saw this site today -- yet another scam. If you didn't know any better wouldn't that be a great way to work! Too sad.

Is there a Shorthand for dummies type of book?

I have ShortHand 10.0 through my company.   I'm reading the instruction file on the computer and it makes no sense at all to me and I find reading it on the computer is hard because I can't see the full page.   My company will not allow me to install a printer and I guess I could transfer the file to another computer using my flash drive, but it is 136 pages and I really would rather buy a book if there is such a thing.

I've spent about 2 hours browing Productivity Talk and there wasn't much information that was helpful and no mention of a book.

Need help ASAP - websites that are similar to WordPerfect for dummies.
Went from working soley in Word for last 8 years to WordPerfect 8.  Last time I worked in WP it was dos.  I need quick tips, time savers, keyboard commands, that sort of thing.  Need to get my speed up.  Thanks.
Better than Word for Dummies is Cheryl Flanders' book.
www.cherylflanders.com

And no, I don't get anything for recommending it. It's just a great book for MTs that use MS Word.

You need a copy of your report. Whatever bad stuff you can pay, pay it and get a receipt. But let a medical collection be the last priority. Do not let anyone else pull your credit report. Pay everything you have on time. Dispute things that are incorrect. Email me. This will take a while.
SCORE
Since you say you are just starting out and you are a small operation, I assume that you do not have a lot of capital to invest up front.  When I was getting started in my business I learned of a FREE service that you can consult with and get all the answers you need.  It is called SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives).  They are a volunteer organization and specialize in consulting small businesses.  Look in your local yellow pages or Google SCORE and find a local office.  Unless you have money to invest in an accountant right now, this is what I recommend.  It was the best decision I ever made.
My score was 31--
I guessed on quite a few (not the US or England, though) and even got some of the cities right.  I didn't think I'd get even half.  Cool game!
Well, I have a 99% or higher QA score.
I make between $45K and $48K doing this.

NEver been in trouble for QA. Never lost a job for QA. Have been hired for every single job I have ever applied for.

Anyone I've ever worked for has been sad to see me go. People I work for now are very happy with me. I make good money and have a good QA score.

All with no PROPER EDUCATION but just on-the-job training.

HOORAYYYYYYYY!!!!!
I love my QA score and even like my QAs
I am trying to prove a point to "I-type-fast" girl.
QA score formula
Can anyone post formula for figuring QA score.  Thanks!
CMT pass score

Can anyone tell me what is the score required to pass the CMT exam?

What was your QA score for acct? How long did
x
Monthly audits = QA score. sm
Usually companies audit your work monthly. They will pull 5 or 10 reports you have transcribed and do a random QA check on them. If you have critical errors, they will deduct whole points, noncritical errors usually a half point.

If you total QA score is below 98% three or more times in a row, some companies will do what they can to help you, put you back on QA review for a while so every report will go to QA. Other companies may just fire you or let you go.

Is this the answer your were looking for?

That's funny because after we went through CCCS our score went up significantly. nm

The older the account, the higher the score . . .
so they are the ones to keep.  :)
Where's best place to obtain credit score?
I know I see Free Credit Report all the time on the internet, but they are not really free, right? Don't you have to sign some sort of protection coverage and pay a monthly fee? Is the best place straight through the Equifax, TransUnion and that other place? (Can't think of the name of it right now). I'm in the market for a new house and want to make sure everything is okay. Any advise?  Thanks in Advance.
Execuscribe On-Line Test Score
No, they didn't tell me what score was passing before I tested. They invited me to test based on my resume. I don't know about having to use a C-phone once hired but no I did not need one to test.
How is QA score measured? Is there a standard scale? sm

Is it per report?  Is by the number of characters in the report?  I am guessing that a missed comma is counted differently than a wrongly used medical term...

Thanks for any help!

Maybe your experience and a high test score - sm
is perceived as a *threat* - i.e., that they may soon need to pay you closer to what you're WORTH, in order to retain your services. Maybe some MTSOs think they can make more of a profit by hiring the less-skilled and "bringing them up to speed", so to speak, within the company while at the same time keeping their wages ridiculously low. Hmmmmm....
I believe the original poster is the one doing the scoring, and she is SHOCKED at how low the score
is for the MT, and she doesn't even know what to say to the MT under comments. I can certainly relate - lately, its abysmal in my company.  How, oh how, do these MTs get hired?  To me, that is the BIGGEST mystery.
Expecially if you can try to impress strangers with a bogus IQ score
x
I have heard the test is a joke and you don't need a high score
basically because they're desperate and need to keep up with TAT. Now this is just what I've heard but by the looks of what is being hired, I truly believe this!
Actually, NOT having open credit accounts hurts your FICO score.
I closed my credit cards 10 years ago and paid them all off.  All I have left is my student loan and my mortgage, which are both paid on time every month.  You'd think that would show me as a responsible consumer because I pay cash for everything and don't live off of credit.  Instead, my FICO score stinks now because my available credit to my used credit shows as maxed out.  It's complete bunk.  People are rewarded for using credit while responsible people who pay cash are punished by this FICO system.  I have a 4% interest rate on my mortgage, but the credit union tried to milk me at 12% interest on a car loan when they advertised 5% because of my FICO score.  My only option is to open up some credit cards or something, but then that shows as excessive inquiries or too much new credit.
Talk about anger...anyone who posts a high IQ score is a pathological liar.....
So, are you saying that no MTs can have high IQ scores?? Just because you don't, we all have to be pathological liars? Sorry.
Saw him on CMT show with John Fogarty. Great, great singer with a neat personality and drop dead
gorgeous without seeming to know it.
Great post. I swear by both Advantage and Frontline Plus-- both work great! - sm
I don't know about "natural" approaches for the house. I have always used flea bombs in the past before the miracle of Advantage and Frontline changed my life. Have not had a flea problem at all since I began using those products about 10 years ago, dose all the dogs religiously once a month with the Frontline Plus except in Dec.-Feb. to save a few bucks and because the ground is generally frozen by then and no fleas are scurring about. -- Hope you get flea free soon.
If everything is wonderful---
Why were you complaining???
That is just wonderful (sm)
No more waiting for months.  Congrats again!
How wonderful! Can I ask...

How did you go about this?  Are you a parent, and if so did you wait until kids were older?  Not trying to be nosy, but I have been thinking about this a lot.  My kids are still relatively young, but as they get closer to both being in school full-time, I have been thinking about going back to school and studying something in the healthcare field.  I think becoming a doctor is too far out of my reach, although in another lifetime, that would have been my dream.  But, maybe a PA, or some type of therapist, or a nuclear medicine tech?

Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

How wonderful!

That's WONDERFUL!
:)
I got a wonderful new job! nm

How wonderful!
Happy mother's day!
That is wonderful
The hospital where I worked before going to MQ 10 years ago would always play it up big time. I miss that, but MQ has made a bit of a dent this year (well, I say a bit because I haven't won anything LOL). Food and a new reference book -- can't beat that!!! (well, um, maybe the Tiffany bracelet would :-)

Wonderful!
That is wonderful. I love the doctors who seem as if they have a good personality and care about not only their patient's but also their transcriptionist. It is always nice to be recognized as a human being! Kudos to that doctor and keep up the good work Patti! You are obviously doing something very wonderful for them!
Oh, how wonderful! Thank you very much!

What a wonderful day...NOT

My one doc got laryngitis on Tuesday...he's still dictating but only in a whisper. Yet, when he had part of his voice, I couldn't understand a darn thing! Whispering was definitely better. LOL

I took a break from my other job to run to the store...15 minutes max. Put our puppy outside because I don't quite trust her in the house by herself yet. Came out of the store and my BATTERY WAS DEAD!!!  Didn't have the strength to open the hood of the truck all the way (I'm no spring chicken), then couldn't get it closed because I'm too short.

Thanks heavens for cell phones. Beeped hubby. He was 50 miles away. Called 1 son. He was 30 miles away. Called foster son. Wow. He was home!!!...but sick with the flu and he only lived a mile away. After waiting 45 minutes, he finally arrived. Surely he would be able to get it going...nope not even with the extra battery. Truck still sitting in the parking lot. Poor pooch was so very happy to see me come home.

On top of this, it's my birthday {{{shudder}}}

I think I'll just stay home and keep working from now on.

Wonderful!

Hapy to hear that!

Wonderful job
You inspire me!!
What a wonderful
response to people who are new to the profession. It's good to see someone give some great helpful advice to someone who wants to get into the field. Good for you! I was new once and I remember how hard it was to enter the profession. It's still hard to obtain new accounts because this is such and invisible job, but I love working at home. I bet all those newbies appreciate your advice!
That's wonderful...
Never, ever should have been outsourced in the first place. That is just NOT SAFE for a million reasons. Congrats!
Wonderful!!
Never been happier to switch myself. All in all i am saving over $100 a month and the only time my net went out for longer than an hour was when a line was cut and AT&T customers were out too. It is a shame that AT&T was allowed to buy up the smaller companies. Just ruined the whole thing.
Wonderful...
This sounds like it may be just what I need. Where can I get one of these?

Thanks for such good advice...I havenever heard of this before!
