Info on Documed typing platform -- not company
I have been hired with company that uses the Doc-U-Med typing platform, and I was wondering if anyone can give me feedback on how well they like it and is it easy to get you line counts.  Some platforms are so clumsy and slow that no matter the ease of the dictators, you cannot get line counts because of the platform, so I am asking for feedback.  Thanks
I am not familiar with Meditech is it online basesd?
I am not familiar with Meditech is it online based? If it is online based that same company(Spellex) has a product for Internet Explorer. I hope this helps :)
Thanks for the info! So is anyone familiar with... SM

VoIP companies called Phone Power or ITP?  I've decided against Magic Jack because of the problems.  I did some research and found the two above companies were pretty reasonable or maybe I should just stick with Vonage?

Not familiar with this publication. More info pls-

MEDITECH PLATFORM
Question to MT using Meditech platform.  Are you experiencing lag time on this system??  Slower than an old 386 computer back in the 80s.
meditech platform
It does not work with Keystrokes. I have yet to get it to quit lagging. I am on 4 mg cable and nothing open but the platform and it still lags terribly

Meditech platform questions...sm
I just found out I will be working in Meditech for radiology.  I have never worked on this platform but I haven't heard too many good things about it.  Could you all let me know the ins and outs of Meditech?  Can you make good line counts on it?  Should I not bother wasting my time?  Do you like it or do you hate it.  Any info appreciated.  TIA
Meditech Magic Platform
I am about to start working on a radiology account that uses the Meditech Magic platform. Can any of you tell me the good, the bad and the ugly about this platform?

TIA!
Meditech is a horrible platform.
I typed in Word and copy/pasted into Meditech.  You should be able to set the font in Word that you need.
Questions about Meditech platform...
I read through the archives and no one seems to have a high opinion of the Meditech platform for transcription. Is it still as slow and non-user friendly as it seems to have been in the past?

Thanks.
typing in MEditech and cutting and pasting - here's how I do it
When you are in Meditech, and it says something like - I can't remember what it asks, but it says something along the lines of Y/N RTF Editor or something like that - ... type yes, and it brings you into Word. Type your report, and then click on the RED X in the corner of your page and HIT YES. This will cross the report OVER INTO Meditech. Then proceed with finalizing your report the way you do.

Hope this helps
Thx for the response. What is their typing platform like? Also...

Could you elaborate on why you were unhappy?  How much of their work is going overseas?  Thank you for helping me decide what to do.

Bayscribe typing platform....

Hi

Does anyone type in the Bayscribe platform?  I work for a national who are switching to this and I have never had any experience with it.  Any comments will be appreciated.  Thanks

Any Info on Meditech Client
Here's another dumb question, folks.  My new job has Meditech client.  I have used Meditech, but the kind you dial in with a phone line modem (not using internet).

Is Meditech Client different or is it the same, is it user friendly?  Does it use the internet?  I hope so b/c I just got DSL available in my area and hope it isn't slow b/c I'm starting a new job soon. Thanks in advance for pointers!
Need info on platform

Is anyone familiar with the Touchworks/Allscript platform.  Would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this...ease of learning, good sound quality,  and what you generally think about it.  TIA

Emdat platform?? Good, bad or ugly? Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance. NM

MTSO with platform versus no platform (big message)

If a MTSO advertises that the MT works in MS Word and sends dictation by FTP, does this usually mean there will be no demographic/doctor database and the demographics will not be autopopulated?

I got into a mess with a small company (got out real quickly too).  I was required to print out daily email copies of the doctors' office patient schedules (which were barely legible) and type in all information.  I spent more time hunting for the correct patient through pages and pages of these schedules.  Then I had about 25 pages worth of doctor's names that I would have to go through to find the attending, referring, etc.  A total waste of time as I didn’t get paid for that.

I wish MTSO would give more information as to what platform they use (if any).  Proprietary software is such a generic, totally useless description.  Would they buy a new car that listed, "Car has gasoline operated motor?"

And for Pete's sakes, why so secretive about the pay?  Give a ballpark figure.  Just say, pay is between 7-12 cpl depending on skill, testing, etc. Tell me if you pay for spaces, headers, etc.  It would save them time because I wouldn’t even apply for a 7 cpl job.

Before I spend an hour or two testing, I need more information from a company to be sure it is compatible for my needs.  If the MTSO would spend a little time on their website detailing their platform, how they send/receive files, pay rates,  how line rate is determined (spaces/no spaces) employee/IC/SE status, minimal line count, whether work pools consist of 100s of doctors, or smaller pools with 25-50 doctors etc.   Having all this information on their website would save them time and the MTs time.   Phoenix Medcom has a really good layout describing pretty much everything an MT would want to know before testing with them.  I am just tired of testing with a company and then finding out the job wasn’t exactly suited to my needs.

Platform versus non-platform (templates)?

I've been working for MTSOs for years now, using their templates which sometimes cause productivity problems (macro issues, etc). I'm wondering if productivity is increased when working on a structured platform, such as one that a national company provides for its transcriptionists?  I've never used a platform, but it would seem that all one needs to do is straight type onto the screen and the platform program takes care of margins, page breaks, etc?

Any thoughts (as well as companies who are hiring who use platforms) would be appreciated.  Thanks

Typing. This is NOT typing, it is transcribing. There is a BIG difference. sm
Transcription includes typing, but so much more.
Exactly! Because you got familiar with VR....
It is difficult to switch from stRaight to editing, Back an forth, back and forth, this is so TRUE!

And all the various accounts with the different clients' specifics.
Not familiar with a dropdown box . . .
Are you referring to F9 to get line count?
If you are familiar with this forum at all
then you should have enough insight to realize that posting such vague information without any shred of credibility will get you a less-than-desired response.

Either way, even if it IS true - what kind of friend shares such an important secret? What kind of employee leaks information?

Hmm...sounds familiar sm
Is this company out of Texas, perhaps.
Sounds familiar.
Feast or famine.
sounds familiar
I'm drowning in paper. I have piles everywhere, including my bedroom floor and dresser. I used to be very organized and couldn't stand clutter, I don't know what happened. I live with three other "messies", husband and two of three children. I think I just gave up. I usually can find things, but it bugs me a lot. Can't seem to get myself to clean it up. This has a psychological basis I'm sure. I'm not lazy, otherwise I keep a really neat, clean house. Stressed out maybe the reason, just don't know where to start first when I do have some time to myself. It's always something.
sounds so familiar!!
I guess most office atmospheres are like that...it sounds so similar to what I had worked with until I went home...and boy am I glad I did!!! I am a social person, but absolutely do not miss the office crud!!! Now I have been doing home repairs and "fixing" up my new "office" as well as getting out a couple of nights a week. Also spending more time focusing on my needs, i.e. pampering myself more!
We are attracted to what is familiar to us
Womanizers, alcoholics, workaholics, rage-aholics...if our dad was one, there seems to be a good chance we find ourselves married to a replica of him. At 48, I decided just to be alone as every man I found myself with was a psycholoanalysts' worst nightmare (these men rarely seek help and rarely change in my observation).
Anyone familiar with FTP Navigator?
I downloaded version 7.0 but now what?  I got the files I wanted but they open in notepad.  Is this right?  Are they now in my PC and can I view them in a word processing program?  Thanks.
Not familiar with SIM message, however,
I have found that if I am persistent and patient with their customer service line, eventually I will get through and get an answer to my question/problem.  There is a yahoo group for tracfone users and I have found them to be very helpful also, especially with codes for more minutes, etc.  Someone there is probaby familiar with that SIM message.  Hope this helps.
Websense - anyone familiar with?
Something called Websense has decided it is my own personal internet sentinel and blocks various websites.  I don't know who/what this is and I have not authorized it to do so.  Anyone know anything about it?  How to get rid of it or shut it off?
Sorry.. I am not familiar w/ExText

Thought maybe it had its own shortcut program.

Also, not familiar w/ Vonage, but ..sm
If there is any kind of option for pulse vs. tone dialing. If Vonage is set up for pulse dialing, it might be that the station isn't recognizing the ID # when you enter it. That's a longshot, since most are now all set to tone by default, but it's an idea.
Anyone familiar with Olympus DS-30?

I need to find digital recorders for a few doctors.  I am looking at the DS 30, but want to make sure its a decent recorder, but don't want to spend too much $$.  They want to email me the digital files--so I was wondering if this recorder is pretty easy to use/set up?

Thanks for any info

Sounds familiar...
There's that 7 years again, me too. Would agree with much you say. Are you elsewhere now and do you like it?
MRT Services - anyone familiar with them?
Anyone ever heard of MRT Services? I saw them online. Please provide feedback.
Sounds familiar only.....
once in a while if I fall asleep watching TV, I dream I'm trying to transcribe everything that's being said. Only problem with that....you can't backspace or fast forward. Now that's frustrating!
Uh oh! Sounds familiar. I have an 11yo too. sm

She is my 4th out of 4 and, believe me, times have really changed over the years.

Some of these 5th grade girls come to class all made up, tight jeans, etc., and their parents ALLOW it!  One of my daughter's classmates has cable TV in her bedroom and can watch MTV and horror movies, etc. AND she has her own cell phone!  That's just plain nuts.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but when I hear, "well Susie gets to do this and that," I say, "You're not Susie and you know the rules."  Sure she'll experiment. My older kids did, but they knew in their hearts I didn't approve.

One thing I did do was yank the cable.  Oh pity, too bad, you don't get to watch garbage on TV now do you?  I'm such a MEAN MOMMY.

My 23-year-old daughter pulled a ton of stuff on me growing up and now she's a mom.  You should hear her talk about setting curfews, etc.  I'm like, "Uh, you have a good 6 months before potty training yet."

the tone of your post is so familiar
If you somehow follow my other posts, which are mostly just vents, and why you are following them so closely?  Who are you???
Was thinking yousendit.com. Anyone familiar with

Landmark Transcription--anyone familiar with them

I currently work for xxxxx, but recently saw an ad for Landmark Transcription that sounded interesting.  Anyone have experience with this company or know their protocols?

Edited to remove current place of employment.  BuckeyeLil (Moderator)

Sounds familiar. I have a friend with a son who is now
a year behind where he should be because they fell for some private school cock and bull story about how he wasn't ready for kindergarten (the school was ready, however, to milk her for another year of preschool, I'm quite sure).  So here's this kid now, a sophomore in high school and turning 17 in August. All for no reason, there wasn't a thing wrong with him.
Anyone familiar with Chartscript & ease of use? Tx--NM

SOS-familiar w/Cphone DA-127D?

It's crunch time - I am using TranscriptionGear Model DA-127D for first time (replacement after demise of Dictaphone C-phone) and do not have instruction manual.  I've navigated through a report and need help with the following:  Everytime I take my foot off the pedal, I get the recorded "To sign off you must be at the end of the report."    Then, when I actually got to the end of the report, it signed off automatically with the foot pedal.    I must sign reports off manually on this acct.     Any help would be greatly appreciated.  TIA.

Am wondering if anyone is familiar with Cryptoheaven

I have a new account that I'll be using this for and am wondering if it is hard to teach an office to use.  I've used it before as an IC and loved it.

Do I need to go down to the office or can it be done over the net.

eClinical software - anyone familiar with this?
I work from my home office. I had a doc call today and say he needs an MT, but his office uses a software program called eClinical, so he thought it would have to be done onsite. He said the HPI is the only thing that is really transcribed, that the review of systems, PE, etc., is just checking boxes, and then ICD-9 codes have to be entered for x-rays and such for it to be billed properly. Is anyone familiar with eClinical? Is there any way to access it remotely? How would I even bill for this if the HPI is the only part transcribed and the rest is checking boxes/data entry? I really don't want to go and work onsite. I'm just bummed because he's the first potential client of my own, and instead of being technologically challenged like so many docs and still using tapes, he's technologically advanced! If anybody has any info on this software program, I would really appreciate your input!

Anyone familiar with Spark procedure ...
relating to bladder suspension?  Can't find on internet.
Anyone REALLY familiar with GFR/kidney tests?

This is a personal question, not exactly related to work.  I am going in circles with at least 2 doctors now (and several unrelated specialists) who are not concerned about my lab values, but from what I have looked up, it seems they should be doing something, even if it is just explaining what is going on and why.

Since August last year, my GFR has been 55-59, and from what I've read, that means kidney damage.  I am still on indomethacin, which I believe can contribute to kidney damage.  I don't know what else could be contributing or what might make things better, or if like they say, it's "within normal limits" and "nothing to worry about".

Any input?

Are any of you familiar with medical coding? - sm

Needing a better job than the one I've got, I've been spending my late nights searching the far reaches of the internet.  It seems the only MT jobs that will actually support a person are in-hospital jobs, and the few that still exist are rare, and difficult to find.  They're definitely not listed on our Job Board, that's for sure.  When I do find them, they all seem to be part-time, or too far away, or involve heavy phones.   Answering phones and transcription are NOT compatible activities!

So I keep seeing LOTS of ads for Coders.  Obviously that would mean school.  Ick.  Being the hater of school that I am, I would want to be sure that's what I wanted to do, so I thought I'd see what all of you think of Coding as an alternative to MT work.

-  Have any of you worked in coding before, or are you currently in school to learn that profession?

-  How hard would it be for a late-middle-aged MT to learn?

-  Do you think coding is worth spending time in school to learn?  (i.e., Decent pay, not about to be offshored, etc.)

-  If you've done it or are learning, do you LIKE it?  Is it interesting?  Tedious?  Stressful?  Boring?  Rewarding in any way?

-  Are you learning it on-site, or at home?  How many hours per day are you devoting to your studies?  How long does it take to get credentialled?

Thanks in advance for any input you may have on this subject!

With expander and very familiar account SM
on a bad day where everything goes wrong maybe 4 hours. In the groove, less than 3.

I'm an experienced MT, a slowish typist but a fast reader and puctuator, use an Expander heavily, and have good (not great) familiarity with one account but not with my backup, and neither account is the kind of great "fast" one that helps you get in the groove and really knock the work out consistently.
Sounds like a familiar story
to what I had, only I have not been paid since June of last year through October of last year, of course quit, but small claims court is fine, you can get a judgment but they can still not pay. Keep sending them letters. We want to know what company this is so we dont work there. Maybe it was the same one I worked with.
