Unfortunately, your daughter is right. There ARE a lot of new cars in school parking lots these days and indeed they were given to them by their parents.

My child never had one, though. He had no car at all. I made what I thought was a generous offer by telling him that I would buy a car for him (not new) if he would work part-time so that he could supply gas, oil changes, insurance, etc. He opted out. So, no car. He walked.

There is just too much instant gratification these days as kids go and I am really afraid of how this younger generation is going to affect our world.

Btw, when did you have your first new car? I was in my late 30s personally. LOL
