If so, how long do yours last and what do you do for them.  I have been almost blind for the last week.  Doctor said might take up to 6 weeks go clear up.

Yeah, and look WHO gets to suffer through the (nm)

I suffer from seasonal depression
and am using light therapy.  This has been about two or three weeks now, and I cannot believe the difference in my mood.  It is wonderful.  I put in a fluorescent light fixture in my office that takes four 4-foot bulbs  I bought bulbs at Home Depot.  They had a large selection.  I bought ones that say they imitate sunlight.  Now working under them for my regular shift, I have felt a huge difference in my mood.  I thought I was going to have to go on medication, but now I feel so much better.
Agree...no animal has to suffer for me...
I have been using the wild yam - so far, so good. ?
Why make your child suffer...
just because you think medication is wrong? If the medications will help, why not use it? My son was on dexadrine from the time he was 2 until he was 12 and is now excelling in high school at the age of 16. Yes, his growth was stunted while on the meds, (he's now 6 foot 2, 290 pounds!), but what a trade off!! He was able to concentrate and get his work done without disrupting the class and we never had to do an IEP or make things difficult for the teacher. (By they way, they do have other chidren in their classroom who need to be taught, not just yours.) We also didn't just limit his sugar...it was forbidden! He did not have anything with sugar or sugar substitute (same reaction) until he was around 14. Now he doens't even like it and does not crave it. He's a big guy because of his family genes.

Meds are not a bad thing if taken corrently and monitered. My son say his doc twice a month for weight checks and to see if any changes needed to be made to his meds.

Another thing you need to look at is the childs IQ. My son tested at age 4 with a 168 IQ, which was part of his problem, not just his ADHD. He was bored in school and that caused part of his 'attention' problems.

You can't rely on the school to make changes for just your child, you need to take control and if that means meds, it means meds. It makes me sad knowing that a child is suffering because they aren't getting the meds they need. Same way I would feel knowing a child wasn't getting an antibiotic or asthma medicine if needed. It's sad. javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');

Do you think patient care will suffer any?
will treat the laptop like it is you, and ignore you, the patient.
Classic migraines
If you have migraines with an aura that involves visual scotomas or "flashing lights" as part of it, That can be worse that then actual headache...(plus the nausea, vomiting, numbness in the arms or face, loss of speech, etc)it's a warning of the headache to come. I have suffered from these debilitating migraines since the age of 5 (maybe longer) and am now in my 40s...I've tried everything...I have the migraine abnormality on my EEG as well.

A neurologist told me when I was 16 I had a disease and would just have to learn to leave with it (nice guy eh? and ya maybe lose 10 pounds!)....anyway a year ago I had a terrible bout and again saw a neurologist (took me 25 years). This guy was young and energetic and said I did not have to suffer like that and I had more of a "pseudo-seizure" episode going on. He put me on Topamax and OH MY GOD! It's a miracle...instead of 2-3 migraines a week, it's one every 2-3 months - no joking....ask your doc. I've settled on 75 mg twice a day. The only major side effect is I can't drink pop as it's screwed up my taste buds. But hey, that's nothing to give up. Do some research on line. I wish you success. I go back for my one year checkup in November and this is the fewest migraines I've had in my life! I may even try to go down to 50 mg twice a day as maintenance dosage. Hope this helps!
I get acupuncture for my migraines...
Has cut down the occurrences from once or twice a week to once a month. It has been a lifesaver for me. Last time I checked, NIH was doing some research on this and were getting some interesting results. Might be worth checking out.
Question about migraines..

I think I am experiencing my first migraine.  It started with a usual headache for 2-3 days and for the past 2 days a severe headache.  My neck is stiff, hands are tingling, sensitive to sound, fatigue. I am worried it is something else like a neurological problem.  My PCP is out of town until Wednesday and I am thinking of going to the hospital if it's not better soon.  Could this be just a migraine?

Thanks!

question about migraines
I think if I were you I would be on my way to the ER now. Why take a chance. This could be something serious. Good Luck...
My migraines are usually one sided.
Usually never have the whole head hurt at once, but that one side is bad enough to be two.
Using Botox for migraines now too....

Think this has been discussed before, but the sound quality will probably suffer if you do it. nm

...don't suffer needlessly. You don't have to feel a thing if

Migraines really are not associated with stiff neck.
I have been cursed with them for about 15+ years - stiff neck is usually associated with some types of meningitis - RUN to the nearest ER, my friend. Photophobia, sensitive to noise, nausea, vomiting -- these are migraines - stiff neck, no.
eternity is a long time to suffer for being wrong.
If you live as if there is no God -- you'd better be right.

I get migraines if my head gets cold. I keep the heat

around 67 at night, cut it down to about 65 during the day.   Gas prices have come down significantly in the last couple of weeks, so while we can expect gas bills to be higher this year than last, it won't be the whopping bill it was expected to be earlier.   Also I use gas for heat, so my gas bill will go up, but my electric bill will be lower so it will balance out.  I also cook a lot during the winter and I leave my oven open after I'm through cooking to let that extra heat into the house.  We've weatherstripped, caulked all the windows/doors, got those foam things for all the sockets and light switches on outside walls, and added extra insulation in attic.  If bill does get out of hand we have a fireplace and we'll just shut off part of the house.

Fortunately in my area we have had a very mild fall thus far and today is the first day we've had heat on all day.

I take 2 BC powders mixed with cola, LOL. but works for all but menstrual migraines. nm
