Doesn't your ISP have a phone bundle?

Posted By: sm on 2009-05-06
In Reply to: Need unlimited long distance..... any suggestions? - Thanks! nm

I used to have a bundle package with Comcast for my cable, phone, and internet.  Maybe you could check into that.  I've been using Vonage for over a year and have never had a problem with it.  In fact, I switched from Comcast phone service to Vonage because I was having so many problems with Comcast.  Vonage is only $34.something a month with taxes included and it's flat rate nationwide long distance.  It also includes free calling to some overseas countries, but I can't remember which ones because I never use it.

where I live, bundle package for HSI/CABLE/PHONE is $99 a month. nm

My phone doesn't go out, just the DSL part.

Our cable company doesn't offer phone service yet, and anyway,
I don't know if I'd want everything dependent on their service for all my needs. Even my internet is not as dependable as it should be, yet there is nothing wrong according to them. I already pay for internet and TV to the tune of $147 a month and they are raising it in Jan. again.
bundle......
Comcast does offer the bundle now as well as AT&T, which is our phone carrier here now. We have comcast digital and cable, so strongly considering the bundle for phone as well. Just hoping Comcast doesn't start acting up again!
MTs use to make a bundle until sm
corporate America got a whiff of the money to made, invested in the digital end of things and went out and snarfed all high-end hospital work.  Now, some of these companies pay CEOs and stockholders.  That money use to be MT wages.  That's why nationals have such a low pay structure.  The best MT jobs out there are still in-house in hospitals, where you can find them.
Then you made a bundle
If you paid that much you made a bundle, better find out how to get more write-offs as I don't pay that much totally and I start out with 50+K.
saw that - thats why i posted. Cant buy big software bundle - sm
just need editing job that is either web-based r ftp.

Income is severely suffereing as I lost my good paying job and income this month is about a tenth of what I'm used to.
I have a Charter cable bundle for sm
digital cable, one rate long distance and internet and have never had a problem.
I had a Comcast bundle and worked on Meditech just fine
I had to use a C-phone and call in, go thru a VPN, etc., but there was never an issue with my digital phone line.

Good luck.
C-phone used to call in to dictating systems to receive work. A special phone. nm

Why are YOU attacking HER? Just because she doesn't want kids, doesn't mean she needs a psychi
xx
I had a lot of trouble with static in my C-phone. I replaced the phone cord and that made a big

difference.  Also, have you tried a different headset?  Also someone told me one time that there is a microphone under your volume control on the right corner of the C-phone.  It's a tiny hole.  If you break off a Q-tip and stick that into the hole that will squelch a lot of background noise and that worked as well.  As far as getting your C-phone service, I heard that Dictaphone is "sunsetting" C-phones at the end of this year.  Meaning, they aren't going to service them anymore as they are considered an obsolete technology.  So, I would contact Dictaphone and see what your options are.

I know very little about Lanier equipment.  I've not used it as extensively as Dictaphone.  Is there a local appliance repair place in your area?  You might ask one of those places to take a look at your equipment and see what they think.  Kinda scary, cause they could do more harm than good, but maybe worth a shot.

Not much help, I know.  But I thought I would share what tiny bit of obscure knowledge I do have.

I've changed them between an old phone and new phone, but the same company, i.e. Nextel.

I use my c-phone whenever we travel. You can hook it directly into your room phone. Be sure and as
xx
I think you can dial into most systems that require C-phone without having a C-phone nm
.
I am wondering if there is a way to use your C-phone with Vonage phone service?
??
May have to change phone companies, have switched to job using a C-phone. sm
Currently have Embarq (formerly Sprint), and my usage will be going up about 12,000 minutes a month.  What phone companies offer really unlimited for a flat rate?  TIA.
C-phone and ATT. There is no problem with the C-phone, but ATT wouldn't let me use unlimited.
nm
I have cable phone access and my C-phone works - sm
I am not sure about you problem, because it sounds just like I have mine hooked up.  The only thing I can think of is that mine has 2 line hookups in the back of the phone.  If you have this too, I would just try the other one, which you probably have already done.  Sorry that was not much help.  I wish you luck
I have a very loud hum when using my C-phone, but no hum when I'm using the regular phone. SM

Anyone else experience this problem with their C-phone?  Is there a problem with my C-phone?  At first I thought it was my telelphone line and called the phone company.  They sent a technician out to replace the lines and check the house, but the hum is still there on the C-phone.

It's driving me batty!

C-phone info regarding phone lines etc.
I am completely clueless on the subject of a C-phone.  Can someone help me understand exactly how this works?  Do you have to specifically have a separate "dial up internet" service to use the C-phone? I currently have cable internet and am wondering if there is anything else I need to get.  I guess I should contact my phone company.  At any rate, any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
If you use a C-phone for work and have a digital phone

through cable, have you tried to take an incoming call?

We only have one phone line.  I rarely get/make calls and when I do we have cell phones.  I just started working with a C-phone and got digital phone.  I can go a month and my phone not ring, so far have gotten 3 calls today, but I'm afraid that if I try to answer the phone that I will lose my report.

I guess I could pull up a report and have my husband call on his C-phone and test it that way and then if I lose it no biggie.

Anyone use/try C-phone with Medicom's phone service?
Wondering if it works?
C-phone and phone line
I have cable for my Internet so I have my C-phone on my regular home phone line and forward my home phone number to my cell phone.
A c-phone is just a phone, with headphones sm

and a foot pedal.  You call into a number (hopefully 800 number), put in your codes, and a voice file comes on.  You use the headphones and the foot pedal, and transcribe on your computer into a word processing program, then send the finished file back per their directions.

The c-phone is not connected to the internet in any way.  There is no downloading involved.  It is just a phone by means of which you get your voice files.  It needs a phone line and you stay on the line the entire time.

c-phone from cell phone
I believe if you check with your cell phone carrier they have an adapter that you can use to plug into your cell phone from the c-phone. Not sure about this but I think I had a friend tell me she had to do this but it was a year or so ago. Hope this helps.
It connects via phone like, just like a C-phone.

I have an old actual C-phone phone if that is what you mean, (sm)
not the newer kind that connects to a computer.  I don't know if yours is programmed the same, but mine shows 8 to decrease and 9 to increase.  Hope this helps.
C-phone and phone plans....
I have a company that I have recently hired on with that uses c-phones.  At home I have an unlimited long distance plan, but I'm wondering if while traveling there is a plan that you can get in order to use a c-phone in a motel, relative's homes, etc.  I like to be able to still work while traveling and I feel this is going to limit me.  Any suggestions or ideas?
Digital phone/C-phone
Does anyone use a C-phone with digital phone service?  Does this work out okay?
Does MQ really seem like they want MTs? It doesn't seem like it

When you make something so complicated, difficult, cumbersome, and frustrating, that sends me the message they aren't really wanting to be in the business.   As far as I'm concerned, they have sent me a signal they don't want me to work for them.  Wonder who they sent those surveys to.

What? DQS doesn't use

What the heck are you talking about?  They are getting ready to put PRD on my machine.  Why would they do that if we can't use word expanders?

Just because I am an MT doesn't mean that
transcription. If that's all you have in your life I feel sorry for you. You're a miserable hateful human being and people like you are the reason I started working at home in the first place.

Try to have a nice day.
She probably doesn't know how to use it.

No she doesn't......
She sounds like someone who's telling it exactly like it IS and knows what it's all about.  Things are and have been rapidly changing in our industry and all other industries, for that matter, my dear. There ain't no free lunch any longer....SURPRISE!!  Better get with it or you WILL be left out.  Not a threat, just facts.................You can take it or leave it, but you'd be wise to take it.....from one sistah to another....
Well said. Like you said, it doesn't
majority of people have had alcohol in their past. People who are more prone to being alcoholics will likely become addicted before they even realize what happened. There is also a component of denial before you admit to the problem. I am not saying everyone that comes from a family with problems will become an addict with something, whether it is food, drugs, alcohol, etc., but it does play a role; and to dismiss that fact, is only being judgmental. "You have a problem; well you created it, bottom line." I think that if you know there is a tendency in your family, you can take measures to stay away from addictions; but sometimes bad stuff just happens to good people. I think we all might have a few problems we aren't exactly proud of. And for someone who overeats and is obese, it is no different than someone who is an alcoholic. I am not talking about people who have medical conditions either that might cause them to be obese, so don't start getting upset people.

I have a huge family history of alcoholics and mental disorders. I myself have some chemical imbalances and have been diagnosed with anxiety disorder and OCD. I recognize that and take measures to be able to live the healthiest life I can.

that doesn't mean we can do anything about it
anyone not getting paid should contact their company and the bank

This was all before 9/11 (which doesn't
excuse Clinton by any means), but has anyone noticed that these outsourced jobs are going into the back yards of Afghanistan and Pakistan?  Don't any American officials worry about the potential danger to Americans associated with that?
One does, one doesn't.........
Our Super Center asks to see receipt for big items not in a bag, but our small store across town does not. Our Sams Club has a person that looks at the receipt as you're exiting the store. Every item has to be accounted for that is on that receipt. Also, none of the items are bagged at Sams.
I don't know why my DH doesn't get that!?!
IF MAMA AIN'T HAPPY, AIN'T NOBODY HAPPY. I mean this is common sense! HELLO! :D

Doesn't everything? jk

Well...I'm sure he doesn't
like me very much. But, I'm not really concerned with that to be honest with you. He wasn't a very nice person to begin with, and when I tried to be friendly and in a nice manner ask him to please not play his music so loudly so late at night, he basically ignored my requests. I am not a mean person and don't want to cause trouble for anyone, but I felt I needed to do to do something in that situation to make sure that my son and I could get a decent nights sleep. The police cannot tell the person who called them. But I'm sure he probably knew it was me because I had asked him to turn down his music already. He has never confronted me about it though. We just live our separate lives in peace and quiet. :-)
To me, it doesn't.....
I agree. I just wish the pay matched that thought, as I'm sure the street sweepers do. LOL
I'm in my 50s and it doesn't get better *LOL*.nm

Well, actually it doesn't mean a . . .

heck of a lot in the "real" world.  If it gives someone satisfaction to get either the RMT or CMT, good for them.  However, I would never consider it a real credential.  Now R.N., M.D. or even EMT MEAN something and people recognize those.  RMT?  Registered massage therapist is what that stands for to most people.

Personally, I think the majority of those taking the beta test (at a whopping $90 a pop) are newbies to the field, misled by their online school.

I would love to see the AMA step in and take over all MT issues...now there would be some BIG clout, and some real credibiltiy, if they were in charge.

Again, it doesn't have to be that way...

Not all companies are all about paying next to nothing and neither are the doctors.  If we as MTs refused to visit a physician if they offshored their back office work and convinced one family member or friend to do the same, believe me, that would certainly get some attention.

An organization for the MTs would basically give us what the AAMT won't.  Who is going to have better resources than fellow working MTs?  Who is going to know who the better employers are?  Who is going to be able to bring up an important issue and try to really make a difference with it?  I sure hope we aren't going to rely on AAMT for that.

We are in a global marketplace, but that doesn't mean we are out of the ballgame.  We need to make US practitioners understand the advantages of having US-based services especially in this field.  Besides that, we certainly don't have much left to lose.  If we all just took a little time and made a little effort, things might start to turn around.  If they don't, at least we gave it a go.

Why come here to ask...who doesn't know..
to live conservatively and QUIT! If you are married or in a relationship with the other person contributing financially, why bother keeping your job? Maybe someone less fortunate than you needs it. This is something to discuss with a financial planner and your family.
I have one like that, but he doesn't

He says - "oh my, oh dear, oh my, oh dear"  I actually have to laugh.  It's either that or get mad b/c he's single handedly destroying my line count.  One night, I put it on speaker and left my husband listen.  We seriously thought he was going to sh*t himself, he was getting so worked up over not being able to find the vital signs.  Hysterical!

Doesn't it seem odd
that the only way to type enough lines (to make any money) in this profession is to be able to use tons of short cuts and chunk-of-text macros? - - Kind of like having to use steroids to compete in sports now-a-days!!
