Converting voice files to digital files

I have a Voice Solutions dictation system that will happily convert DS4000 voice files to digital when they are downloaded (wave files). However, it will not recognize any other files for conversion. I had a physician download .WAM files from his DS-30 and my dictation system would not convert it. Anyone have any suggestions?  I would greatly appreciate any input.

Thanks!!!

My digital voice player converts files to be --sm
able to be played. it sounds like your voice player does not. Maybe either you or she needs to save the file as a wav file first, prior to playing. either that, or try downloading the express scribe player, which is free, and try to play it with that. If that plays, then it is your voice player which is not compatible with the files she is sending you. good luck.
Looking for Software to Organize Digital Voice Files

Anyone know of good software that can take my digital voice files and organize them so I can keep track of which worker is working on which doctor, keep an eye on turnaround time, etc. -- instead of making endless folders on the computer myself. Voice files are separate from the typed reports, which are done in Word. Thank you.

Any way to transfer microcasettes to digital voice files? (sm)

I'll be using a subcontractor and rather than picking up and delivering tapes, is there a way for me to transfer dictation from tapes to voice files that she can transcribe using express scribe?

Do they make such a machine?

FTP site or other recommendations?
I may be a little premature in asking this as I'm not yet sure what the software is that is being used, but I know a psychiatrist who would like me to do some transcription for his private practice.  He is currently using a program to digitally put the dictations on the computer and then his wife transcribes it.  I am wondering about options that are available to me in order to receive the dictations as well as transmit the typed documents back (preferrably through the computer).  I have heard about FTP sites but don't know how they work.  I think another option might be telephone dictation but that would not be ideal at this point as he has many dictations already on his computer that his wife is behind on and would like me to help get caught up.  I do have a digital foot pedal but don't know yet if it will work with the dictations or what software I might need on my end.  I have a limted budget.  Are there any sites available that are free and are HIPPA compliant?  Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!  Thanks!
Need to set up FTP - Secure site recommendations / cost ??
I need to use a secure FTP to transfer medical files.  Is anyone using a particular FTP that they like.  What is cost associated with this.  Any info appreciated.  Thanks.
What digital voice recorder would you
nm
Digital Voice Recorder
www.transcriptiongear.com has a bunch of choices and they all come with the software to transfer the files.  The software can also be configured to return the documents too.
DVI stands for Digital Voice something, I

can't remember.  I use this system.  My company provided my foot pedal/software.  I think the company has to provide the software, as I've never seen a single user software available.   Foot pedal will be $60-$80 depending on where you get it, may be able to find on e-bay cheaper.

Do a Google search for DVI compatible foot pedal.  I don't recommend TVPS.com.

voice files
Yes, mine are emailed too.  They are usually .dvf or .wav files..  Call GearPlayer from that website I posted and ask if this is compatible for you.  If so then purchase it and call them back to be walked through downloading to your computer (I download to a folder named "Work to be Typed" by "Saving Target As." )
Voice Files
I tried that. They won't drag into the box.
Voice Files
That worked. Thanks so much!
Digital Voice voicewave player

Is anyone familar with the digital voice voicewave player?  Do you have any idea of the pricing for software and license?  I got a quote and was blown away.  Just wanted to check that it is correct.

Dictation Digital Voice question
I need some assistance, please. Could someone tell me which transcription units are compatible with Dictaphone Digital Voice? Thanks!
question about .dss and digital voice editor 2

I have digital voice Editor 2 and I have no problems using wav files or mp3 files on it.  But I do not know how to get .dss files to work on it.  Does anyone else use digital voice editor 2 for freelance work and if so, how do you get .dss files to work?

Or maybe just a general question, what program can I get to be able to use .dss files.

Thanks in advance

Digital Voice Editor & Vista

Me again!  This time I installed the disk (Sony DVE v.2.4.04) and got an error message on my new computer with Vista.  I need this to hear the sound on voice files for a client I work for....  I feel like a Pioneer with Vista and transcription!   Anyone else have this and found a solution?

Update:  I went ahead and bought Office 2007 as I need Word to transcribe and also use Excel to keep track of lines and my college son needs Powerpoint!  Thanks for the help!

digital voice transcription info
I am looking for information on how to do something. I local doctor's office said that they use a handheld digital recorder and then the doctor downloads the file onto the computer and then emails it to the transcriptionist. HAs anybody done anything like this and what do I need to do this. What software, is there free software. Any information would be very helpful.

Thank you,

Lynn
I use DVI and I download digital files via FTP

and then transcribe using a foot pedal connected to my computer.  There is also a transcribe station similar to a C-phone that can be used to access the system directly.

Ask the company what equipment you'll use and then if they don't answer your questions google DVI.

voice files query...

Good day everybody...I am on a rush and interested on buying a set of classified voice files, all body system for practice transcription but I can not find sites where to buy them.  I will appreciate it a lot if somebody could give me at least an idea where to find the complete set of course on a cheaper price. Thanks very much.

Why would you e-mail voice files to yourself. You'd have to have them
on your computer to do that and if you have that why e-mail them.   Unless you have encrpyted e-mail it would be a big no no as far as HIPAA.
PDA use for voice files over internet?

A chiropractor called me today to see if I could transcribe his reports using a PDA with voice files over the internet.  I told him that I am sure I could accommodate him but that I was unfamiliar with that process and would have get back to him within the week, yet now I am at a loss at what to do.  What program do I use?  Can it work along with my microcassette transcriber/pedals, which I use for other chiropractors and PT’s.  I

If anyone is familiar or can point me in the right direction, I would be forever grateful.

TIA~

I only accept digital files.
I don't have time to courier tapes. I use Express Scribe to play back files. Doc upload to a commercial, secure website. Completed documents are uploaded to the same website to be downloaded by the docs. (I pay $30/month for this.) No software/licenses for the docs to buy but they do provide their own digital recorders, which I have found to work best since they take better care of things they have to pay for.

There are several websites available that offer FTP stores space (some FTP knowledge is required by the office staff) as well as other sites that allow for "drop and drag" upload/downloads. Some bill a flat fee per month, some bill according to the bandwidth used.
Need help with static in voice files

Please help!!!

I am given .wav files, through a VPN connection, from a hospital that uses DVI/Fusion.  I have an enormous amount of static on the files and it seems that no matter what I do, nothing helps.  I have even been able to let the gal at the hospital listen over the phone to what I am dealing with and she says that her files sound nothing like what I am getting.  I am assuming it has something to do with Fusion and I have called Dolbey numerous times to try to get them to help to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

FYI:  I have tried playing the files through 4 different software programs and always get the same static.

Thanks much for trying!

Trying to load voice files, anyone?

Wanting to go to work for a new company. What I am getting is - voice files failed to load- object does not support this method.

I would like to know- has anyone experienced something similar and if so any suggestions? Thought maybe too much on my computer or ?? Thanks so much.

converting voice files
Thanks for the input. I will definetely look that up on the net. I just hope it does the same thing for my voice files as it did for your MP3 files.
What is the best player for digital files?
I have used Express Scribe for years but ever since I restored my computer it will not play .dss files any more.  I have downloaded every codec out there, etc.  I have Gearplayer also but cannot stand it.  What does everyone else use? Thanks
playing digital files
I use Start/Stop.
Voice files & access to VPN sm
I use a DVI system for the voice files and connect to a VPN to transcribe, and I am using just the mobile broadband connection. I applied to a couple of companies that said the connection would not be compatible, although I'm not sure why. My main issue is that I need to get a unidirectional antenna put up as my omnidirectional one tends to get fluctuating signals. As far as usage, I haven't really tracked work only or surfing only, but I would estimate no more than 1.5-2 GB of usage per month is strictly work-related. If anyone wants the name of the company I went through for my equipment, it is 3gstore.com. Excellent customer service, even if all you do is ask a question and not buy anything. They even answered some tech questions for me a couple of weeks ago, more than a year after I bought my stuff.
Best way to send voice files

I need to get some help. What is the best way to send voice files to other MTs, and then they send me their completed reports? I am relatively computer dumb and need some advice and help. What is the most secure, economical way? I notice that Express Scribe/Dictate has FTP...but actually all that stuff confuse me...

Can anyone explain it to me in really simple language? I know all the big medical terms but computer stuff just terrifies me but I have to get some help....

Overwhelmed NY MT

I have Start Stop digital voice player--sm
and Spyware Doctor, as well. I have never had any conflicts between the two, and I really do not see why one would interfere with the other. although, I do not leave Spyware Doctor on all the time. I leave it off while I am working, as it did tend to slow things down a bit, but I never had any problems with it. I do run a nightly scan with Spyware Doctor though. I would be careful of other Spyware programs. I have had others that claim to remove spyware from your computer but actually do absolutely nothing. I believe the one I am thinking of is Spyware Eliminator, but I am not sure right off the top of my head. Good luck.

digital phoneline with Lanier voice writer
I recently had my unlimited long distance suspended because of the time I was putting in on the lanier voice writer. I as going to switch to digital through the cable company with a data line added for access to dial tone. Does anyone have any suggestions good or bad on the digital phone line used with the LAnier voicewriter. Please let me know.

Lanier station w/Comcast digital voice

Will this work?  A couple of years ago I tried a Lanier with Vonage and it didn't.  I don't want to go through the setup trouble only to be disappointed again.  I really need more minutes than my 5000 per month with Qwest.  Has the technology changed to make the Lanier compatible with internet phone service?  Thanks if you can help me.

for voice files on computer, try plugging
your headset directly into the computer where the speakers normally go and see if that helps. Also, you can get a volume amplifier for this. It sure helped me.
Question about digital sound files

Hi everyone,

I am totally new to medical transcription and have a question. In doing transcription digitally, what are the most common sound file formats? I am about to take a test (both written & verbal) for a company and they sent me my test files as .wav files. The files are hard to understand at best  (the guy sounds like he's talking into a tin can ) and I am wondering why they didn't send them to me in a clearer form such as MP3. I am about to ask this same question to the person sending me the test but I thought I'd ask it here too. Is the .wav format the most common form of sound file for MT's? And if so, what's the best program to listen to these files in? I have Windows Media player, Real Player and WinAmp on my computer. Are there programs that MT's use to better hear these files? I hate to sound like a total dummy here but I'm new to this and when I went to school several years ago for MT, we only did tapes--not digital! If anyone can give me some info here, I'd really appreciate it!

Best,

RT

Have you considered editing voice rec files?
Fewer Keystrokes and easier on your hands. Might be a way to stay in the field.
Recommendatios for a TASP for digital files
I am thinking about getting my own clients and have only been able to Google 3 TASPs. DocShuttle, Medikin, and idigital. Are there others?
If you already have Bytescribe, he can email the voice files to you now.
Bytescribe plays dss files. very easy to do!. good luck.
The doctors email me the voice files

Do you know if gear player will work with dss voice files that are emailed to me?  thanks

Will you be accessing the voice files via a Cphone, too?

Can I d/l voice files from Filezilla to my Cdrive?
s
how do the docs send the voice files to you
do they use a dropbox and then drag the files to it from a file on their pc or something like that.  Our docs use Olympus recorders and now when they are done recording they just put their recorders in docking station and somehow the files are emailed directly to us, so am wondering how they would do it using this filesanywhere??  They do not like too many extra steps of course!
Need Testing Help - Downloading Voice Files
I am taking a transcription test and I have downloaded the voice files on my desktop. I am trying to drag them into Express Scribe but it isn't working. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks!
Digital Voice Editor or Express Scribe - question

I have been using my Sony Digital Voice Editor for transcription, and it is over 2 years old and the foot pedal is just clunking out.  It seems that I cannot just reorder a new foot pedal, but I have to buy the whole kit at $149.00.

So my question is this - what are the benefits of transcribing with Express Scribe, other than cost is probably just the foot pedal and free download? Am I able to divide up long files on Express Scribe and perhaps "share" them with other transcriptionists?  What are the downs to having Express Scribe?

Does anyone have any voice files they could share for testing purposes?

Have a Lanier VW system which pulls voice files

can pull your voice directly from the hospital side so you can send via FTP directly to your MT's. The files are converted to play using Express Scribe or any player which can play typical .wav files.

If you deal with seperate dempgraphic files I can help also. Thanks

Express Scribe and receiving the voice files...

I have been using Express Scribe to transcribe notes from voice files that are sent to my AOL mailbox.  I was told that AOL mailboxes will only allow smaller sized voice files and that they will not accept larger files.  Does anyone have information regarding this matter?  Is there a better server I should change to so I can receive the larger voice files?

I was also wondering if I should instead use one of those MT platforms where the doc’s email to that specific platform and the MT picks them up there.  For the life of me, I cannot recall the name of that site.  If anyone knows of the site, can you please let me know.

All advice appreciated, thank you.

dont buy vista - certain voice files do not play

Running Voice Files Through Speech Recognition. SM
Does anyone run their voice files (DSS and WMA) through a speech recognition program and then edit them?  Just wondering if that is any faster than actually typing it myself. The doctor is a very clear dictator, so I'm wondering if the speech recognition would pick it up okay -- but wouldn't be able to teach the software to recognize her voice the way the instructions say to.

Also, does anyone using speech recognition listen to the dictation and then redictate it into speech recognition software themselves? I would be able to train the software to recognize my voice then.

Just trying to think of a few ways to increase my productivity and save my wrists at the same time. Thanks for any suggestions and comments.

Conversion program for digital sound files - sm

A long time ago I saw a listing regarding a program that would convert sound files, ex. dss to wav; etc.  I need to convert a .dvf file to .wav.  Any ideas?

Christina, I would not send voice files unless they legally
belong to you and are in your voice. It is against HIPAA regulations to share medical files. If the hospital or physician or company finds out, you would be held accountable if a patient's private information is given out to another party.
