A good friend died of cancer that I suspected years before
because of a test he had and he had asked me to get a copy of, which I did, but not being "qualified", it said possible metastasis, I just told him I couldn't get it for some reason, and to talk to his doctor. His doctor, for some strange reason said it was "normal". I then asked him to get a copy of it himself, but he didn't. My husband told him to go to another doctor. It took several years, but he eventually was diagnosed with cancer after having a seizure, (it had spread to his brain) and he died a few months later.

The bottom line is, we're really not qualified to diagnose or advise people. I do feel terrible guilt for it, (you should've seen me at the funeral) but there's nothing we can do. If a doctor doesn't diagnose something properly, even if WE KNOW, there's still nothing we can do about it. We don't have the capacity to treat them and nobody is going to listen to us.
ER died when Mark Green died. The 'new'
the same oomph as the originals.  Not as exciting as it used to be.  I had watched since the very first episode and loved every episode until then.  Now it's BORING!
Actually, OP did say probably oriental
xx
Oriental

like Negro, is very outmoded now and I rarely hear it from the docs anymore.  I believe it used to refer to Chinese, Korean, and Japanese people,  as well as Vietnam and other countries in S.E. Asia.  - while Asian is more all-encompassing and can describe people from India, Filipinos, etc.  Handicapped is another word that sounds old-fashioned now (except when referring to parking spaces, for some reason). It has been replaced by disabled.     Either of them is better than the very PC "physically challenged" or "differently abled" or even worse - "handicapable."  gag.....

Oriental and Indian

oriental ESL said when I slowed him way down . . . "
People are not oriental. They are Asian. Things can be oriental, for example, oriental rugs.

It's just one of those useful things to know.
Oriental dictator
The Chinese doctor I transcribe for always says Oriental male or female. I would not presume to change it to any other designation. Today he designated one male as a Mandarin-speaking Vietnamese. As long as the reference is not vulgar, use what the physician dictates, in my opinion.
Rugs are Oriental, people are (sm)
Asian. And I agree, Asian dictators are a challenge. I do a little better with them after spending time in China. Indiana dictators, however, I still slog through!!
No one mentioned either oriental or Asian.

I love Oriental food, do you order out

It is NOT Oriental, no such nationality. It is of Asian descent.
x
Don't be afraid of it. It's really hard to mess up Oriental cooking.

Here are the links to the recipes that I printed off of Google.  (I love the Internet!  No more cookbooks, only Google for recipes.)  I cheated on the plum sauce by buying a jar because our plums aren't quite ripe yet.  Buy the egg roll skins instead of trying to make your own, too.

For the fried rice, you can use any type of rice.  I use brown basmati or jasmine rice mostly.  You can also throw in extra vegetables and leftover meats (pork, beef, chicken) to make a meal out of it instead of a side dish.  I like those Oriental pea pods, bok choy, water chestnuts, baby corn, and Chinese cabbage.

I'm going to combine and modify the eggroll recipes so I have shrimp/pork egg rolls.  I use canola oil instead of vegetable, peanut, or sesame oil.  I don't care for sesame seeds or bamboo sprouts, so I add extra water chestnuts.  Use frozen or fresh instead of canned crab or shrimp.  Use diced, boneless pork chops instead of ground pork or sausage.

People are Asian. Rugs and food are oriental.

I use Oriental Trading Comp. too, but I am crunched for time since other mom backed out on me! Thank

What an ignorant reply, not all oriental countires are in Asia, also in North Africa, see below..
Since when is 'oriental' offensive or an embarrassment?

On what planet do you live?
And in the year 2001?
Pasta prima vera, quiche, turkey in all its forms, Oriental stir fry. nm

Who died?
and left you boss?
I used to have one of those (died on me too).

If you really like the mechanical keyswitch feel (which I sure do) and don't need a split/ergo keyboard, then you might want to think about trying one of the old Model M IBM keyboards ... very similar in feel (actually, better, IMO) to the NMB.  I, unfortunately, have to use a totally split keyboard now, otherwise I'd be using a Model M myself.

You can sometimes find vintage ones cheap in local little computer stores too (I got one for $5 once that way).

He died because of his fame. Not enough for you? SM
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. They do different things that make them heroes to different people. What you really meant to say was that John Lennon was not a hero to you, right?
died today at age 83...........nm

he died almost a year ago (sm)
He had hypertension, diabetes, and had had a stroke in 2003. He was only 54.
No, it's not bad. I cried more when my cat died than when
t
I'm a wimp. I got another dog, just like the one that died, 2 weeks later.
I missed her so much that after we came back from vacation, I got another just like her. Same coloring, same breed. Only this time I got a male instead of a female and he has green eyes, not black. I can't believe how much alike they are.
I had similar experiences after my mom died (sm)
On my mother's birthday, after she died, the smoke alarms went off in my house. They were not in need of new batteries, nor was there even a hint of smoke in the house.

They continued to go off at different occasions, each of which was a "special day," either a birthday or a holiday that she enjoyed.

My mom was in marching band when she was in HS and pretty much made me follow in her footsteps. It was okay, but not a decision I would have chosen. My daughter inadvertantly, through a scheduling glitch ended up in marching band her first year of high school. She ended up loving it. At sleep-away band camp the following year, in the chaparone's quarters (where I was sleeping), the smoke alarm went off during the night. It was kind of funny though, because it went off in another chaparone's room and I didn't even hear it. The other chaparone told me about it the next day and what she went through to get it to stop (basically had to beat if off the wall). When she told me, I just smiled and said, "Oh, that was my mom, she just got the wrong room."

I always thought how proud mom would have been that my daughter ended up in band and even ended up being the drum major her senior year and what a difference it made in her life.

That was the last I've heard of mom.

I'm a strong believer in God, but somehow I think it's possible that those close to us have "ways" of letting us know they're still loving us, even though they have a strange way of showing it! Kind of like when they were alive LOL! ;-)

let's see... christopher died at 52, keanu is almost 41
.
My pet turkey, Bubba, died of
natural causes two weeks ago.  He was about 50 pounds.  His wife, though, Bubette, is still healthy and well.  I guess she is a turkey widow now.
Who died? And didn't get punished?
;D
Lou Rawls died 2day...
I thot he had an awesome voice. Great talent!
It was a very sad day when she died. It makes no sense at all.
dd
mine finally died

it took about a week.

It was in the same room that I sleep in. I discovered if I left the light on it stayed quiet most of the time through the night.  I sure could not find it, and I don't think mine escaped.  :(    cc

ER died with Mark Green - Not the

him, Carol and Doug.  One thing that got to me though, why didn't Carol and Doug show up for his funeral????  The newer episodes just don't have the same uumph - I stick to the reruns on TNT.

ditto......and clarabelle just died!!...nm

robert kardashian died ? When?

No, she only eats chicken... that died from old age... LOL

Hypocrite?!

I remarried after the other husband died
and I have moved to another town about 30 miles away and I do not use the same hospital anymore. In fact, lucky me, I have a medical center right behind me here, all my physicians here in this community, it is so less a stress and strain on me. I am loving it. That hospital P. in Atlanta is a thing of the past.
Mine did this, motherboard died
I had a few do this, and the motherboard had died. I had just purchased them.
We had a weird happening after my father died...
He died in August and when we went to visit his grave just before Christmas, the grass was still growing back over the plot.  The grass had grown in the shape of a Christmas tree inside the rectangular plot of dirt over the grave.  We got some bulbs and decorations and laid them in the grass and took pictures.  Guess what, the pictures didn't turn out.  "dodo do do" (twilight zone tune)
Pretty wild, I have not had really anything happen since my mom died 09/26/04 except how Jen became
diagnosed with her Wilms tumor.  The day prior to it she'd had her normal checkup and the doctor totally missed the tumor (hard to since it was huge, 15 x 11 x 5 cm...was not protruding though unless she was flat on her back and naked and then only a tiny bit), but felt if you palpated the abdomen. (Dr. cut my daughter's ear while trying to clean wax but failed to mention it to her what he was trying to do, messed up the rest of the exam since she was crying and freaked out from it)  The very next day after her check up though, she fell off the kiddie see-saw (18" fall).....my husband likes to think my mom pushed her off, which subsquently caused a blood vessel on the tumor to burst, which made her pee blood, which got me to get her to the doctor's, who proto found her tumor.  Had she not been diagnosed then, in the next week or so the tumor would have probably burst or spread or somehow not have been encapsulated anymore and things would have been a lot worse. So my mom helped her get treatment a lot earlier than she otherwise would have probably.  I thinks it's nice to think about it this way.
My favorite teacher died yesterday...
He was my choir director in high school - such a lovely, special and talented man. He really made a difference in my life 30 years ago. Sad day 4 me.
I agree..my mother was a teacher and when she died..sm
So many people told me what an impact she had on their lives. It was nice to hear it.
Had to QA a report on a baby today, died after a
horrible birth and hospital stay for months. One drug was missing and I just could NOT find it. I am good at that, and felt so bad that this little girl had a big blank in the middle of her report. It was such a long horrible story, including all the agonizing decisions the parents had to make. I just did NOT want a blank in there. So weird, but I went to double check another drug that started with a totally different letter, and when I clicked on that letter, another letter popped up with the exact drug I had been looking for prior. Long story, but too weird, and I knew someone else was helping me out with that blank. I felt so at peace that the little kid had a complete death summary. The patients deserve nothing less, right?
the thread had died. you're the one keeping it going.
ever look at the dates on these things? let it go. sheesh.
Her mother died??? I don't remember hearing about this.

A 20 y/o who suddenly just died of a heart attack? Seems odd.

Jay Vance tried that approach and it died. You have to charge
reasonable membership dues for people to see the seriousness of the action.  Jay Vance charged something like a dollar or something like that and no one took him seriously.  Of course, that was the old days, now he's an AAMT suckup.
one of mine is tiny - nearly died from renal
failure last year - and in the process of trying to get weight on him and leaving food down his brother is up to a whopping 17 pounds now - he would give me lower extremity circulation problems!!
with all due respect, who cares what you think and who died and left you boss of anything?
Good gawd. Address the ISSUE or shut up. Read the post and ADDRESS THE ISSUE.
If my husband died I'd just focus on raising my kids.
And then after they were raised - no, I wouldn't actively pursue meeting someone else.  If I just happened to someday meet the perfect match, fine.  But I wouldn't be out looking.  I think it would just be too hard to adjust to not only the death of your husband, but living with someone completely different.  I'd just fill my life with all kinds of OTHER stuff.
Don Knotts died today - Barney Fife.
He was a classic!
My dog died while on Deramaxx, a COX-II arthritis drug for dogs. nm

who the heck died and left you policing board?
