from a man who owns an MTSO!   A week, are you nutso?  Most OB docs will take you off for 4-6 weeks, with a normal delivery, 8 weeks with a normal C-section.  What state are you in?  I guess it depends whether or not your state has a state disability insurance plan, etc.

And about being an IC MT, a reminder - you are a contract MT, so you have control over your hours and schedule.  Really, you don't have "maternity leave" as would an employee.  That said, you do want to have work to return to.
