Use an encryption program.
Google encryption software.
good encryption program
MEP-- see http://www.deturi.com/oldsite/mep.html.

Also WinZip (the purchased version) has encryption.

Maybe better to send to more specific program

i do my job. i send very few reports to QA. Yet I take offense at the attitudes of editors.
Quit beitching. You don't like the whole package of MT editing, get out. And I rarely hear from editors, do not have low QA (been with the company for 7 years) so I have no reason to "hate" an editor. I just hate the attitude here. And now you are hearing from someone who does their job.
I have a call in system and also use tapes. We send completed reports via encrypted email.
I use MPCount, which is a free line counting program that you can download and it works great.
If I send reports using WinZip, does the recipient need WinZip to open it?

FTP vs encryption
What is the advantage of using FTP rather than just a good encryption program?  If sent through email with encryption and the doctor's office saves in their computer, why would that not be sufficient?  TIA
Encryption
I have a small company and use encrypted email only to send patient lists, not reports, which we do through a server.  I would highly recommend Versign as the premier encryption service above and beyond what HIPAA requires.  Both sides, those accepting and sending emails, must have Versign for it to work.  Its safe and dependable.  I wont allow my transcriptionists to work without it.

Speaking of encryption, my doc wants to go through tapeless and go with a WAV pedal program. What are the ins and outs of these programs; what's good; what's not.  Are they easy to load, setup, etc.  And, what above the WAV pedal programs? Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Can anyone tell me of a good encryption program to use with WAV pedal program?
I can't find an encryption key?
I'm confused
Email encryption
Hello, does anyone know of a very simple, inexpensive email encryption program? Was previously using Hypersend, but they are changing and after 12/28 will be much more expensive (had used this free for the last year) to use. I only send 1 or 2 encrypted emails (containing patient notes) per week and really don't want to bother with FTP or any of that. Would like something similar to Hypersend, which was so simple & easy to use. Had previously purchased Centurion software for encryption, but found it complicated on the recipient's end to use. I see a lot of programs/software out there, but don't know which ones are legitimate or trusted. Would appreciate any advice at all. THANKS!
email encryption
I just read another post about password protecting files in Word. Actually, I never knew that could be done. I just went in and gave it a try and it works great! This might be a very simple answer for all that I need this for.
Best free encryption software? sm
I'm going out of town tomorrow, kind of a mini family emergency, and for the first time will have to drag my laptop along to work.  The encryption software on my main computer cannot be transferred to the laptop.  Anyone have opinions on free encryption software that is fast to install, good quality, and easy to use.  I don't have enough time to learn new software or putz with it.  Thanks.
there are free encryption programs at ....
look around and check it all out.  Some cost money, but not heaps and might be worth having.
Maybe because Home version does not have encryption feature.

Outlook Encryption satisfies HIPAA

(Disclaimer: this is posted by Vann Joe, the publisher of MPWord, MPLite, and MPTools.)

Yes, the encryption built into Outlook would comply with HIPAA.

I note a user has suggested MPLite ($54). If you want to continue working in MS Word, adding MPLite to your work environment will save you much time both in generating the documents and in invoicing. http://www.mpword.com/7mplite.htm

MPWord adds these functions to what you get in MPLite: medical spell check, abbreviation expansion, encryption, zip, unzip, email, fax, ftp.

All our software is available for download and trial. You see, we don't want anyone's money, till you try the software out, finds it meets your needs, and absolutely love the time it saves you.

The same crap about HIPAA & encryption sickens me. The problem is what

happens once the information reaches India and is processed by the India MT.  So what if the dictation is "encrypted" and sent through "private lines".  What happens to the information once it's UNencrypted? That is where the problem is because then that private health information can be compromised and our illustrious HIPAA law can do NOTHING, NADA, ZIP to protect the poor patient...why oh why...again, because HIPAA is a U.S. law and is not enforceable outside of the U.S.

The next thing that doesn't ring true is the so called "aging" American Medical Transcriptionist labor pool.  Let's get real Mr. Paulik.  The FACT is that YES there is a shortage....a shortage of experienced MTs willing to work for PEANUTS!  Pay us a decent wage and watch those experienced MTs come out of the woodwork!  Also, take a good hard look at every single MT website and see the enormous number of American MTs, EXPERIENCED MTs looking for work.

I am so fed up with these corporations using this same lame excuses time and again to justify what comes down to the almighty buck.

The MR reports were being filed. Referring physicians/medical care providers reports were not.
This is a hospital radiology department with in-house MTs and a clerk who is in charge of the report distribution.
Anyone familiar with Thawte for their free encryption email service?

I was looking at Thawte for a security measure for sending medical reports through email.  Has anyone here used them before or know anyhthing more concerning this company?

TIA~

The two sentence normal reports will balance out the 3 page reports.
I am Wendy too

PRD is a DOS program. I don't think it work with Word, a Window's program.

It will count everything if you go in the settings and program it to. Good program!
Sylcount is an awesome and accurate counting program also. That will count everything if you "tell it to".
You can use Shorthand in ANY program, it works outside your program
I have never found a platform it did not work with and I have worked on several different versions of Meditech. Just start using it.
Your English teacher does not do medical reports. This is for medical reports.

M-TEC has a Basic program (12 month) and a Premier program (18 month). To WAH, you should take the P

Shorthand works with every program, it works outside the program you use, does not interfere.

send one
I definately without a doubt would send one.  Just to let them know that you look forward to working with them, etc., etc.
98.8% but that I send 30% to QA...sm
and THIS was while I started a HUGE new account/hospital and I was on FULL QA/QC at the time......so yeah, EVERYTHING on that 3rd account was going to QA/QC for a couple of months (thousands of dictators there).
I cannot send more than 5% to QA or...
They decrease my cpl rate!  It does not matter that my quality is above 98.5-99% always.  And spelling names phonetically is NOT an option.
What does it mean when you send

of a VERY difficult dictator... yet you get no QA back... I left at least 7-8 blanks and have not gotten any corrections back from QA (which is the usual process) for me to look over and listen back over report. Does it mean that they don't know either? I notice this happens to me quite a bit when I get something difficult and am anxious to get QA back to see what I can learn.

I could send my boy over LOL sm
but I don't know where you live. Seriously, though, they may just be garters, harmless. I would let nature takes its course and they will go away on their own. Or, scoop them up in a bucket with a broom or hoe and take them somewhere where they will be safe. I just removed a blue racer from his sunny spot in the yard last week. I got him in a bucket and put him on the other side of the hill. He can tan over there.
Send them my way too, would you?

Although I live on a canal and it may not be as uptown as living on a river or a lake,it's still waterfront and I do a lot of fishing as well so I'd be interested in seeing them too.

Thanks, Cathy, a/k/a Catfish Cathy

Send it
Good letter!!!  If you are not joking I would send the sucker.
send it to everyone but ...
I say everyone send it to Glenn Beck at me@Glennbeck.com - that is his email. I do not agree with a lot of what he says, but this is a topic I know he would pick up - just have to get past the editors - if they get enough e-mails, and let them know it came from the MTs on MTStars with numerous MTs who feel the same, they can do their own research and get it on. One voice is not enough, ALL of the MTs and ALL MT companies who call themselves American must stop dealing with off shore companies and off shore individuals and these morons who do conferences like this - and not for nothing - Hilton too - how dare they take money for a conference regarding this topic be held.
Send
dog poo in the mail?

A big box. Don't be stingy.

Kidding.
not so much, no, I only send more to QA
and then my line count drops drastically, from 1300 to 1400 lines/day to 700 to 1000. It is not getting better but worse, my paycheck from week to week is taking a nose dive.

Thanks but I like to be compensated for what I do in money, not just by being liked or something because I will do difficult reports. Where is the compensation in that? I get absolutely nothing for it except more shut-off notices.
Hey, then... why don't we just send THEM all

If that is what they want, send it to them.
They are paying your bills.

I would let them know about security levels though.
Could you send me a pm so I can
contact her later on, maybe down the line?
Not so, the more you SEND to QA the sm
more you are targeted.  If I don't see your work constantly, I don't think about you at all.
And to top it off, I send a THANK YOU not to the
only normal, nice and friendly MT that was gracious enough to answer my question.

A thank-you note?????
This must be suspicious.

Especially to 'curious.'

If they can send a man to the moon...
Why can't they invent something to stop cherry picking once and for all??? ARGH. I'm having an annoying day myself - must be Hurricane Katrina....
Maybe I will send it back.
Yes, maybe that's what I will do!! Tell them that they might need it more than me when all the lawsuits are over.
Please send me an E-mail :)
I would love to have contact with others that work for Greenlight.

My addy is sandi@glis.net

Thanks so much.
I wish my company would send me anything.
I have worked for a lot and never received zip
Question: How can someone send me SM

a large file (more than 20 MB) over the internet?  They tried to send the file, but their e-mail server wouldn't allow them to send a file this big.  He is probably going to have to burn it to a disk and mail it out to me, but I was wondering if there is a way around this.

Thanks,

Chickadee

She was going to send it after the first of the year to
everyong who emailed her by a certain time that day.  She had originally said to the first 10 but then had more people than that asking, so she changed it to a set time.
