THEY commit murder and mayhem in the streets, THEY tear up the schools, THEY destroy and deface the housing. Why? Because THEY don't feel any pride or ownership in anything. Because they didn't earn it, or work hard for it, therefore they don't take pride in it. Brand new buildings have been turned into uninhabitable places in a few short years. The schools have toilets plugged up on purpose with pounds of paper towels, graffiti, and doors ripped off hinges (my DH once taught in an inner city school, believe me I know this for fact). Try as you might, you can try to blame society for all of this, but I don't buy it.
