Non or late payment
Just giving all MTs out there that a company called med-tech is not paying or paying their employees late.  I have done some research on them and have found severla employees complaining of this.
Mortgage late payment question. sm
I have 18 months left on my 30 year mortgage, roughly 4K left.  If I don't pay my February 1st payment until March 2nd, is it likely they will demand the whole 4K immediately?  Just broke right now.
Beg, borrow, or steal not to have that payment be late!!!
It does not matter how little you have left on it.  Late is late in my opinion.
How I solved the late payment issue -

- with most clients I started subtracting a certain amount (or free of charge) for each report that I turned around late (far and few between) even for circumstances out of my control, while at the same time charging them late payment fees.  I also started accepting credit cards.

No payment

Look at your 1040 and you will see that your taxes owed include SS and Federal.  So when you make your estimates it is only one check.

infovision software, Kolkata, is not paying my dues (salary + others), resigned during Feb, now it April, Can any good fellow suggest anything?  Not only me there are at least 50 MTs i know , who are also not paid after working with them.

payment for VR
So the account I work on has just purchased a voice recognition software.  I see that a lot of the VR is paying about 4.5 to 5 ( and higher ) cents per line.  Does this include the whole line or just the editing corrections you actually do for them?  Please tell me that it is all the lines on the page.  How could it be calculated any other way?  I actually don't know yet if I will even be getting the installation as there are a lot of MTs working on this account & don't see how there could possibly be enough room for all of us.  I might just have to work in another part-time job.  Thanks.
Payment

Just wondering what alternatives there are when you don't get paid for work that was done and it's been months!!!!  Two people (individual MTs) owe me money from back in February and I can't get them to respond, etc.  HELP!!

Just ask for payment - with interests
1 .If you have no contracts - you have been doped.
2. If you have a contract -
Use it legally.
3. Stop all transcriptions at once until they have paid.
4. Report to the AAMT the incident with the contract, work loads, time and date.
That is my mortgage payment alone - sm
Our expenses for the month are about 5-6K per month.
MTSO payment
I am a very small MTSO as most are aware and I always pay my gals prior to mortgage, electric or anything.  But I also want you guys to know that all of these fringes that you guys want, 800 numbers, direct deposit, etc. cost us money and the more money we have to put out the less money we can pay you.  I do not feel that you should be so upset about direct deposit, if you get you checked maile don time and it takes the mail 2-3 days you have to allow for that in your budget.    I do  not make that much off my IC's 2 to 3 cents per line and I put in a lot of work to make that 2 to 3 cents per line.  We have expenses to cover also.  If we charge our accounts more, they will look elsewhere or over to India they go.  So we have to charge fairly to the accounts and pay you guys fairly also.  Remember the saying -- until you walk a mile in my shoes, don't critize.  I am seriously thinking about cutting back to working only for myself, making enough to cover my bills and retirement fund and let go of a couple of accounts and gals as it gets quite hectic balancing the amount of work -- either too much or not enough -- payments,  QA, decent help and just keeping my sanity.  So that is where I am probably headed after the first of the year.   I think I simply want to be responsible for just me in this coming year.   Hope all have a Merry Christmas.
It is a scam. I got one that says I never sent payment and they
are going to report me, but it doesn't say what the item is.  I've also gotten one where someone says they are trying to Paypal me money but it won't go through and I don't have any items pending.    If ever in doubt never click on a link in an e-mail but go directly to the website and enter/view any information there.
Billing/payment
On my larger accounts I close out on the 25th to 28th, since I keep daily line counts in an Excel program, I print that out, do my bill in Quick Books, get the bill to clients by 28th to 29th, I give a 1% discount on my larger accounts if they pay within 48 hours and they do so I have my checks always by the 1st.   I have two smaller accounts that I bill on the 15th so I have cash flow throughout the month.  I have never been stiffed, they have never been late, they never question my line counts and always write thank you on the invoice.   This works for me.  I know everyone says don't give away 1% as a discount but it works for me so I do it.
with what you are getting in terms of payment...

Then outsources like us are getting ripped off...

I barely make $5 for 8 hours.. you think that's fair. .. cause I sure *&%# don't.

Thank you!! I did request a stop payment and a nm
wire transfer or overnight but have had no response yet but it hasn't been that long either. Waiting for a response. I did email someone else who also works for them but no response from that yet either. My point is exactly as you said, being a week late, i am in deep trouble and it has costed me a lot as i go from check to check so like me and my kiddos are starving waiting on this check, lol. on the other hand, i make good money with this acct and don't want to tick them off as i love this acct but i am in a bind needing my money.

Make a tax payment every pay period online.
I use the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System because I also am incapable of saving money. When I deposit my paycheck, I immediately go online and transfer a percentage of my check to the IRS. You can do it weekly, biweekly, quarterly--anytime you choose. It requires setting up an account with your SS# or tax ID#. Then you designate a bank account to be debited. They snail mail you a password and PIN about a week later. As soon as you receive your PIN, you're set to go. When you make a payment, you're given a confirmation number. The system records each payment and the date it was processed so you have a record of all your payments and the date the payment was made when you organize your tax info at the end of the year.
My mortgage payment is nearly that much. Ten year loan.

You have no obligation to assist in college payment.
I don't understand why so many parents these days insist on handing their kids an education while going into debt over it. My nephew had to work and find scholarships to go to college. My Dad worked the railroad to pay for his college. I'm still paying for my own college, and I've got a kid ready to start college in two years. I told him I'm not paying for it. He needs to get his grades up, find some scholarships, and work. You don't appreciate something you don't earn.

Your son will get a reality check when his bills are due.
Dud you send a demand payment letter? sm
You can find a sample one by Googling.

If you do win in small claims court, the judgement will give you legal ways to collect. For example, having the sheriff put liens on bank accounts, using a collection agency, etc.

Good luck to you. I have been in your shoes and, fortunately, the demand payment letter worked for me.
agree - haven't had a car payment in years
paid $6000 cash for a 93 Volvo wagon back in 2002.  Too many people think they need a new (or pricey) vehicle and really have better things to do with their $400-600 per mo. Every time I look into getting something new or simply newer, I decide that I neither want to take that much money out of savings,  nor do I want to have such an outrageous car payment.  I would totally prefer a brand new car, but it seems like such a waste of money.
Try calling back about a payment agreement.

deal with compared to my state department of revenue!  I owed taxes over $10,000 in taxes two years in a row to the IRS, so over $20,000, and they let me make payments on it and I got it paid off.  I also got the INTENT TO LEVY notices, but when I called and set up a payment agreement they stopped with the threats.

Right now I owe the IRS about $5000 and when I called to set up payments I asked them if I could make payments of $150 a month and they accepted that without question.  I was a little afraid to suggest such a small amount, but they took it.

Now my state department of revenue is much meaner than the IRS.  They told me to pay what I owe them in six months or else.  They put a lien on my house.  They will only accept payments if I take the total and divide by 6 and pay that amount each month (impossible for me to pay that much) so I am just in a holding pattern seeing if they are bluffing or if they really are going to do something.

I'd say if you really have nothing of value the IRS can get, then it is to their advantage to work with you.  I think you just got a bad agent.  Call back and try to get another one that will work with you.

Thank you. As long as we accept payment like that, they will continue to do it.
If we do not accept jobs that pay without spaces, then they will realize that we are not going to continue to do something for nothing. How many of you do several things throughout the day at no charge? Now this...
Prepaid Visa Card for payment

Has anyone used a prepaid Visa card for receiving payment for work?  Is this safe?  Thanks

No you are not! I'm a single mom and I'm trying to make a house payment, pay utilities.... SM

buy groceries, and provide for my two kids all on one paycheck.  I recently got a job doing QA and getting paid per hour and that has helped me tremendously, but I know how it is to scrape by on 8 cpl, low line counts due to a number of factors that work against us (high ESL accounts, technical difficulties, and interruptions).  It isn't worth shelling out $300 for certification when you get very little in return not to mention the $300 could be better spent on clothes for the kids or to pay the electric bill or to buy groceries, etc.

We should be treated better than slave labor!  It's ridiculous and very discouraging to say the least.  Hang in there!  I've been studying coding on my own and I'm about confident enough to take the CCS exam.  After that, I may move on to RHIT, but that means back into the office.  So we'll see.

Agree, checks not definitive proof of payment.

Send him a certified letter with bill demanding payment within
within five days from receipt (make it RRR). You have your proof that you notified him. If it is not picked up or signed for, you have your proof that occurred to. All these things go in your favor when trying to collect money. that's just a starter. I would never have let him get away with it this long. Once would have been it.

just start charging interest. I am using my IC job to pay it off. Medquist does furnish computer, Amphion furnishes but with a monthly fee that is refunded at the end of a year's employment, I think.
Send a letter of demand payment (check Nolo Law websites) - sm
to find any legalese you may want to include on it), and send it via Registered Mail, so that she must sign for it and you will get a receipt proving she received it. If she doesn't pay by your demand date, file a claim at Small Claims Court. Very inexpensive, and if she doesn't pay, and doesn't show up at court (in your state), you win by default. If still no payment, you can return to Small Claims and put a lien on her car, her house, anything you want, which can be forcibly confiscated by the Sheriff and then you can sell it to recoup the money owed to you.
Too late now, but what you should have done...
You probably should have deprived yourself of sleep last night and slept today, or better yet a couple nights in a row, just cleaning house or something to keep you "awake" so you can get a jump start on training your sleep cycle.

It is SO hard to do this job sleep deprived because it is so sedentary. I can easily stay up 24 to 35 hours as long as I'm doing something physician and nonbrain-taxing.

If you find yourself nodding off, take a 45-minute nap. I'm sure your employer will understand this is something hard to go into "cold turkey."

Good luck!
Late fee

I do the opposite, I offer a small discount when they pay within five days and in the past five years I have had my checks well within that time frame (usually 2 days) and never have had to ask for my check.

Late fee
I really don't think a late fee is going to make them pay you any earlier.  You really need to sit down with the office manager or whomever  processes your invoice and talk with them.  They probably won't pay the late fee and still take 3 weeks to pay you.  If you stay with the account and this has been a chronic problem you gotta budget to have money to tide you over for the 20 to 30 days or how ever long it takes them to process your check.   Talk to them see what they say and then decide if it is worth the frustration to continue with it.   If this has been going on for quite a while doesn't sound like it is going to change so you either have to live with it or find another account.    In 22 years of doing my own accounts I have never had anyone pay me any later than 10 days after recepit of invoice and that was just a couple of time.  I guess I am lucky but it is the truth.
late pay
Well, I feel the same way, I don't want to mention the name of the company at this point. I do know however the company actually goes to pick up the checks from the hospitals and has to get them in the bank before she pays her ICs! I have been in this business over 20 years and it's the first time I have encountered something like this.
Late $
We sound like we are in a similar boat. Very nice people, very appreciative of good work, and it does get paid, just late, which most of us cannot handle because our bills need to be paid on time. How do you manage with your bills?
late pay
It isn't easy! When she does pay I try to get enough ahead to pay bills when she is late which is basically every pay period. And luckily, my husband has a good job, but it is one which slows down in the cold months. I Christmas shopped about 6 months ago! Plus, our work has not been slow and I have been able to make an extra $200 or so each week. How do you manage?
Late pay??
Ok, I've never had a problem getting paid before, so I'm not sure what to do. I worked for this small MT company and they still owe me a month's worth of pay. I've tried emailing the person, but she just keeps blowing me off. What should I do next?? (Of course, I quit.) Thanks.
You will get a 30-day late on your...

credit report.  You may also get an "Intention to Foreclose" letter, which will scare the heck out of you.  Those letters standardly go out the day after the 30 days passes.

I agree that your best bet would be to ask for one deferred payment.  Some lenders will do that, but some are very hard-nosed and NEVER do it.

Will you be able to make your March payment before the end of March?  If so, you should try to schedule both February's and March's payment to come out of your account on specific days . . . say, on March 2 (as you mentioned) and even March 31.  That will keep you from getting another 30-day late.

Once you start to lag behind, it is soooo hard to catch up again.  I'm hoping they let you defer a payment.

153 in my late 20s...however I do believe it is going down.
as I once was, that's for sure.
don't know if too late, but....sm
doesn't your insurance cover such things...mine would have replaced the whole thing.
Definitely late 40s for me
Here I sit, having worked six days in a row with one day off and starting new week facing more OT due to computer down with one MT and death in family with another.

Did it in my 20s and 30s with no problem.

Now, however, I have eye strain and sore hips from sitting so long and really am rum-drummy if that is a good description. Fear making an error.

And, I do not make much more money as I have to proof everything and think before I type which slows me down in long run.

Yes, give me 40 hour week over the age of 40. Long complicated reports is where my expertise is these days.

Late Pay

I recently had to leave a wonderful lady and I mean absolutely wonderful due to late payments.  She had paid late several times over the last year.  I had even changed my bill dates so that I could accomodate the usually no more than 5 days late that she consistently was with pay.  Last month she was 6 days late, which would have been okay with me, except that I had an automatic payment come out the day before the pay was due to be DD (which I signed up for due to promise that pay would be on time this way).  Fortunately I was paranoid and called my bank and was made aware of the problem, but I had to borrow from my niece, my 21-year-old niece!!  HOW HUMILIATING!!!  I told my very extremely wonderful MTSO that I could not work for her if she was late again.  I also had it set up that all I needed was my August pay checks on time (meaning within the 5 day "grace period" I gave her) and the September 1st paycheck, then I was set to just put her checks into savings.

Well, that never happened.  It did not occur to me that she would dare be late, but come August 21 I went to deposit a refund check from a Church camp as it was canceled due to fires, and the bank tells me that after depositing $220 that I was still short in my account!  To make things worse, it was not my money that paid for the camp.  I was depositing the refund check and then writing a check to my mom's Church as she had used her tithe money to pay for my girls to go to camp!  I still was trying to be calm at this point and asked the MTSO what was going on, well supposedly she had sent me a check on the 7th of August.  Funny thing is I did not even bill her until the 9th.  First it was a certified check, then it was a money order, then it was sent on a different date.......... I could go on and on, but needless to say I had to quit.  I cannot afford to work for free.  I cannot afford to be late on my bills.

I stayed with this MTSO for so long despite late payments because I thought I new I would always get paid.  We had a GREAT working relationship, except the pay, and I really wanted the long time IC, great reference that this provided me...... you know a real "feather in my cap" for my resume.  I plan on going after my own accounts next year after saving a couple of months worth of bills.  BUT, in the end I had to threaten legal action to even get what I was owed, and I was sick for several days because of how ......... well sick this made me to have to "burn" that bridge, and how sick it made me because I ended up having to get very, very ugly (which made me even more sick) in order to get more than "I will check into that and get back to you" on when I was going to get paid.

This is a touch situation that you are in and only you can make the final decision.  I personally LOVE being an MT.  I just have learned to not "put all my eggs into one basket."  I work for a couple of companies, one a national and one an MTSO.  I can get extra lines at both if desired.  It can take a long time to find the right fit, so hang in there if you like being an MT.  Of course, teaching is a very honorable and rewarding career choice too.

Please excuse any typos, tired, but felt it very important to respond to this one to let OP know she is not alone and there is hope.

This is probably too late but....
Oncology was my specialty for years, and I felt like you...so difficult. Then one day the codgy old oncologist that was a detailed and strict dictator started dictating a report about his patient and started to cry....me too.

No one is spared this...IMO

Its too late know, but I would not have even said
anything to the first company.  If they are sending you such little work you should have been able to juggle both companies for a short while.  I don't think they terminated you because of a different job though.
Trying to help but maybe too late

This is the procedure I found for when you want to transfer glossary from one computer to another, I'm assuming you do not have access to the other computer:

You need only send your .glo files to the new computer through an email attachment, through floppy, jump drive or other media, and save to C:InstTextGlossary folder. Then open IT and finally, open the glossaries.

Sure it is SS that is late and not your bank? They have to
build deposit files and it may be the banking system having problems.

Just trying to help.
