with 2007 and that I had to have 2003 or older to use. I think the majority of companies out there are not using the newest version.

As wtih every company, they have their good and bad points - sm
As long as you do not end up with L.L. as your account supervisor, you will do just fine! There is more bad than good about this company, huge turnover, etc. But you can easily make $$ with them, especially because you get paid for spaces and returns.

I did well $$ with them when I was not being moved to different accounts all day long. If I was on one or two accounts for the day, I did great, but needless to say management has other ideas.
My company has recently started sm
assigning jobs by the TAT, not by the work type.  Again, maybe you need to refresh yourself on the various specialties/work types.  The SUM tapes can really help with that.  If you are interested, email me.  I bought them on ebay, and can make cheap copies if you like.
I just started with a new company this week, so I will let you know how it goes. SM
I am still working for Spheris just in case, but if this new one doesnt work out I will look elsewhere. Kind of fed up.
I started a new company not long ago, too

and they were detail-oriented.  Like you, my transcription was great, but I kept forgetting the little things - how they like their dates formatted, when to add headings, when to expand abbreviations.  I printed out the emails with the corrections I got and made myself a cheat sheet to keep beside my computer.  I reviewed it before each shift and referred to it frequently while transcribing.

Learning the formatting/account specifics is probably the most difficult part of starting a new job, and I'm sure their QA dept is aware of that.  I made it and so will you.  Just stick with it and double proofread things.  I also doublechecked my demographic information prior to submitting just to be sure.  One thing to remember, when in doubt, flag it for QA.

I started out working for a company ...sm
that gave you everyone who worked there's IM and then the company who bought them out isn't that way. They don't encourage contacting other MTs working there. Which has not stopped me. I still have managed to get email addresses and then get their IM. It does help tremendously when you are able to talk to others on the same account as you.
I just started with a great company that I had to purchase
Docshuttle and waveplayer.  I had contact with them throughout the period of waiting for the software to arrive, etc.   If you purchased the disk and not just the download, you can return it.
Just started with a company 4 days ago and having same issues!!
VERY frustrating. I am paid hourly while I work, no work=no hours, so I charged them for the hours anyway. I went from a job with too much to do to nothing to do BORING!! They promise it will pick up and I am just keeping my fingers crossed!!
I started work for 1 company this past
year that was really out in the sticks. They had dial-up because they were not close to anything and that was a company!! What I dislike so much about having my DSL is here in Atlanta with Bellsouth you have to have a land phone if you have the DSL. I am hoping with the take over of Bellsouth with AT&T maybe they will give you the fast access without the land. I spend sooo much on something I rarely use but went with another provider here in town and not satisfied with the service so back to MA Bell. I have to have the fastest. I really don’t want to try any others as that switch was sorta nighmarish!!
Hired by new company and started training today.
Should have trained yesterday, but no one contacted me.  So of course, I contacted them.  During training today, their foot pedal did not work.  When their tech put their software into my computer last week, he said he "fixed it" so that their software would work with my firewall turned on and that my autocorrect would work with their software and I wouldn't have to re-enter 3000 shortcuts.  Well, you know the rest.  No autocorrect and I cannot access their system with my firewall turned on.  Plus I can't work because the foot pedal doesn't function.  With all that the MTSOs demand of us, you would think that they should have at least some of their act together, no?
Okay...say Snopes is correct and it's a rumor started by a gas company...
How does the gas company that started the rumor know everyone will flock to them?

I buy my gas from the station that posts the lowest price, and not necessarily twice in a row. I may buy from Kroger, Walmart, or some other company, but they're always selling for several pennies below the big companies.
Just started working as an IC for a company, found out something I had been transcribing for
years was wrong. When I questioned it, they explained it to me, but for 20+ yearse no one else had seemed to care. You learn something every day in this business.
I always start wtih the Dr. last name sm
like SmithCThead SmithCTabdomen

This way I can always find it by doctor and then scroll through for the particular template I need. It cuts down on having to remember what shortcuts I used because just typing the doc's name goes to all of his templates.
I pay $67 a month wtih AT&T - sm
you can go to their website and I believe can see if your area is covered. I got lucky and where I am is, but only a mile or two south of me is not. I have a cell tower about 1.5 miles from my house so I am sure that helps.
agree wtih snow bunny
Agree with snow bunny. It should be made into two sentences, thereby avoiding the use of "who" later in the sentence, which BTW, should be WHOM.
Start wtih hotels.com and see where it takes you. nm

Is that the MS keyboard wtih the riser you can attach?
It gives you a negative wrist tilt? I saw one at Office Depot and I wanted it so badly I could taste it. I test drove it there and fell in love with the touch. It is about $60?

Next paycheck, I am going to treat myself to that keyboard. I have no more numbers or letters on mine, and it does not auto cap anymore. DH says use mine. But it is one of those tiny, little rectangular ones. I have fat fingers and cannot type on them. LOL
I had a completely different experience wtih Dell. sm
I ordered 2 laptops in January -- one for me and one for my son who is going to college in the fall.  I spoke with a very American man from beginning to end, who then gave me his complete name and direct extension for contact in case I had any problems or concerns.  They arrived well before the approximate date I was given and, all in all, it was a very easy, pleasant experience, as have been my experiences with Dell in the past.  I am so sorry it was not the case for you -- but I do not blame you for asking to speak to someone you can communicate with, as that is so irritating to try to speak to someone who cannot speak the language!
You're the racist. You have a problem wtih Caucasians
my relatives came here LEGALLY from Czechoslovakia, registered at Ellis Island and took the naturalization test.

They are now productive LEGAL citizens.

nm.
Sorry, they are compatible.

It's very compatible with Word, and quite
similar to Autotext/Autocorrect.  That's why I like it better than IT.  Download the free 3-day trial offer to see how you like it.
SmartType compatible with DQS
Has anyone had any luck getting SmartType to work with MQ DQS?
No you don't have to buy it. If you don't have a compatible player - sm
that can play "PlayAll" files then they will supply the PlayAll XTRA player, though they do ask you send them a CD for it I believe. They supply the WP DOS 5.1, Stedman's Spellcheck via email. That is why I said don't let the question throw you, you don't have to buy anything.....unless you are new of course, then you will need a footpedal. Bytescribe is compatible with the sound files and that is what I use, I also have a copy of the PlayAll which I use to pull up the file information I need to transcribe, but it won't work if you have Bytescribe on your computer. I love my Bytescribe so it stays. They will train in in the use of WP 5.1 and they hire newbies too. I started to work for them with 2 months of experience....it will be 4 years in May since I began working for them. As I said good people, I appreciate them as much as they appreciate me.
Won't work, new IT Pro V is now compatible with

Shorthand runs with meditech

I don't know if Stedman's is compatible or not, but it
is considered the best and the most widely used I believe.
Is Shorthand not compatible?

You have to have a program compatible
with whatever he has to download the voice files from his office.
Is Escription 3 compatible with

I have MS Word 2002 and I know that it is not compatible with Escription 8 which is what I am going to have to start using Monday.  I have a Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 disk that came with my laptop.  So....my question is.....will MS Word 2007 Home and Student work with Escription 8?    My next question is do I need to uninstall my MS Word 2002 before I install MS Word 2007 or will the Word 2007 overwrite the 2002?  Any help with this would be wonderful

I mean Escription 8 compatible with

duh

Are wav pedals compatible with all programs?
I'm looking to invest in one since I see a lot of jobs require you to have one.  I was wondering if there was a brand out there that is compatible with most programs.  I see some ads say they must have the Start-Stop one and so on.  Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you! Do you know if DocQscribe is compatible w/ satellite? nm

.dss files are not compatible with wav players--sm
They need to be *converted* for WAV players to be able to play them. your wav player may have a conversion tool within it. If it has a *tool* button, open that. It will not automatically play them and saving your files in Word will not convert them to wav files. you have to do that manually. good luck.
MS Works and MS Word are NOT compatible. SM
If you do a document in MS Works and try to open it as an MS Word document all you will get is machine code.  So if you are transcribing for someone who wants the files and they have MS Word, they will not be able to do anything with them (except pull their hair out).
The newest Stedman's is compatible.

Please let us know if your software is compatible with Vista and thank you.

It seems that companies would hurry up and get compatible with Vista, as they would have more choice in MT's in their hiring process.

Hoping companies will get their VPN, etc. compatible soon.
Vista is so smart and fast -- at least my computer is !
Vista is still not compatible with most platforms currently.
I have yet to see a platform compatible with MAC and if you look at the job ads when listing needed equipment they all say PC.
Stedman's is compatible with Vista. I use it. nm

2007 not compatible with 2003--sm
but there is a file conversion tool available. Whether this would affect the normal.dot file, I have no idea. Better check with microsoft word on that one. go to MS website, they have a lot of info about 2007
What footpedals are compatible w/ Escription?

Word 2007 not compatible
I was so happy when a friend surprised me by buying me a version of Office 2007 so that I could have Word 2007 (I'd been slugging along using Word 2000 which was sooo slow).

But now that I'm actively job hunting, I'm seeing more and more ads stating that various platforms are NOT compatible with Word 2007!

Does anyone know why?
EditScript8 is VISTA compatible
I have them both on my other computer. I'm not sure EditScript is VISTA compatible, though.

Hope that helps :-)
Any version of WordPerfect will be compatible. nm

Also, if buying an analog TV, get the facts if it will be compatible or not...(nm)

I'm getting set up for DQS and I was told by tech that Smartype is not compatible but(sm)
Shorthand and PDR or PDS (whatever it is, I don't have) would work. I have Smartype too and it's a pain that it won't work.  I was told by others here that what is on the DQS is sufficient.  Hope that's true for me too.  Good luck.
