The times were not always like they are now. I certainly had reports in this small town on people I knew, some very well. I even went so far as to bring up this question and I was told I knew my job and what I needed to do, there was no one else and I was trusted to keep it to myself and I never had an issue with it as long as it was approved. HIPPA was not around back in the dinosaur era, but confidentiality was and it was adhered to. By the way, Hollywood managed to keep a lot more secrets than they do today with all our laws in place.

That's the line that jumps out at me in your post. I know you're scared, but you've got a responsibility to your children and yourself to leave if this is true.
Start planning. Contact your YWCA. They have free counseling. If there's no YWCA near you, look in the phone book for other numbers. Women like you leave their abusive spouses all the time, and they have children just like you do. There are resources. Courage, lady. Bolster yourself up and find them. You have to do this for your children and yourself regardless of fear.

abusive relationship ruining mt career
I had an extramarital affair. I deeply regret it and am trying to get my life straightened out. I ended the affair and I believe this man wants to see me lose everything out of spite and revenge. I had to quit my last MT job because my computer was hacked and had alerted the company there was a security problem and then a bunch of personal correspondence with this man got uploaded to the company server via "technical assistance" on the phone. I have had harassing phone calls as well and calls that were programmed in my autodial end up at the wrong number or playing Mexican music, etc. I went to the sheriff's department and they did believe my situation, but said there is little I can do about it without filing a report. I do not want to appear spiteful or vengeful, but may have to file a report against this man, but he lives in another state. I just want to put my life back together. I fear with my computer tapped and my phone calls screened I will be unable to secure another job or get the harassment to stop. I have three firewalls on my computer am rural and had to work via satellite. I live in a small town with little opportunity. I am going to lose everything if I cannot work as an MT.
Any MTs victims of domestic abuse and had to deal with anything similar?
If someone is sabotaging my career what am I to do?
Don't mind extra work as long as it is not abusive
I used to always work my shift and then try to do 2-3 early Sunday mornings. I was stopped from doing that because we could not work more than 40 hours. If there is help needed after my 40 hours I certainly do not mind helping out when needed - as long as this does not become abusive and you are expected to be available 10, 12 or more hours a day, night, and weekends. I have been there and it just got out of hand. I am comfortable with less than 50 hours a week.
Not quite critical, but...
I have one doc who used to pronounce "exacerbate" "exasperate." as in, "an exasperation of her back pain." Obviously someone pointed this out to her, as she pronounces it correctly now, but Oh---so---slowly, really working on each syllable. It would be hilarious if it weren't so sad.

You're correct - I don't know it all! I have over 20 years of experience but when a client wants it a certain way, they just do.
If it is just one QA person who is doing this, I would take that up with a supervisor. I think I might have responded differently had I known it was just one QA person doing this and not all of the QA department.

Transcription is much more than the keyboard. It is the critical thinking, problem solving, and interpretive medical language skills that enable these experts to produce a healthcare record that is the basis of the revenue cycle, part of the risk management and patient safety net, and continuity of care....Yea, now we are experts - why... we should be able to pull in $80K a year!

As far as company VR for critical care it is not very good and I agree with the other poster. I tend
to leave little words in or if I have to take a lot of words out an extra word gets stuck in. It is a mess. If you are speaking of your own person VR at home to help I know nothing about that. With companies at this stage of the game you will not increase your productivity as you think.

I did say that a proper education IS required, and I stick by that; i.e., my analogy with the attorney/paralegal and nurse/MT, etc.

Not if you have a legitimate chemical imbalance and require any or all of these medications to give you a normal life. It's when you don't take them under doctor's orders that you can have problems.

I have the same problem and most recently the office visit for my child to have his ear looked at and that is all was $129.00....new office visit fee. I'm still wondering how any MD can justify such a fee. If they see 4 15-minute appointments in 1 hour, just regular visits, that's $519 an hour. Someone's living good.

but....things happen in a person's life expected or unexpected. She says she works 95% of the time. It should not matter if she works at home as an IC or in-house. Things do happen like it or not. It is a fact of life and should not be penalized for such. Companies should have a backup plan. Computers fail, etc.

Why did I have time yesterday? Because I had no jobs available. Our accounts' work load is down and has been down over the past month or so. You know nothing about me or my job.
I hope you are right about the DSM-V it's about time. How psychologists versus doctors treat psychiatric issues isn't the discussion here. And for a matter of fact, mental retardation is NOT a medical diagnosis. It is an IQ less than a certain number depending on severity. What medical doctor gives an IQ test?

Perhaps you have all the job security you need, perhaps your husband hasn't been laid off because his place of employment went to Mexico. Let me tell you something...You shouldn't judge MTs you don't even know, and you certainly don't judge me. Just because you ARE making good money does not give you the right to say those who haven't found a good job yet for whatever reason are not good MTs. How do you know? Have you reviewed my work or anyone else's on this board? I don't think so. You are doing fine because you have a good job with a good company obviously. Everyone is not that lucky. Maybe the employment agreement YOU have signed states all that. Yes I had a contract, stating what the cpl was, and if it states in the contract it will be increased after 3 or 6 months, then it will be, but not if that's not in the contract to begin with.

I am married to a high school teacher in public school who busts his butt for his kids and the kids and his colleagues know it. My husband also knows many dedicated teachers who, along with him, could easily earn 3 times his salary in the private sector. In many other countries, teachers are paid as professionals like doctors, lawyers, etc., because other countries really value education. You can also place some responsibility squarely on the shoulders of many parents who never show up at school for ANYTHING unless there's trouble and they have no choice. Further, it doesn't help that the current administration has cut Pell grants, making it more difficult for people to get the educatin they need to compete in an ever changing world. Yes, our country has misplaced priorities. Unfortunately, many times it's about materialism and keeping up with the Joneses and not doing the things that really matter. Too many people not paying attention to what is going on.

I happen to know several young men that have joined the Armed Services and they have gotten a wonderful education, and yes here lately...I want my son to get an education, but to also feel a sense of pride in serving his country. After all, a law enforcement officer is a public servant, is it not? It's attitudes like yours that make our men and women overseas seem like they're not appreciated or valued. I have the same right to an opinion as anybody else and the right to express them as do you, which I am very much afraid is fast disappearing from this country with our other rights. But having seen some of your other posts, I can't help but wonder if you just always take the adverse view in the name of an argument. But that, also, is your right and I have 2 sons who served their country for you to have it. I do think if I were in HER house, I would go by their home rules, but, she just walked into mine and no, she does not pay for any of our rights we take so for granted. Maybe while we are all here screaming at each other, we will be much too busy to pay attention to anything that may be really important. So I will accept the fact we will agree to disagree and leave it at that.
