You are certainly titled to your opinion. I do not happen to agree. I assume sm

that those of us who do not share your viewpoint are entitled to our feelings and opinions.  Or is it no longer politically correct to espouse anything but viewpoints from your mind set?

Did you read the post titled "One MTSO's opinion"
posted by Boo on 12/25/07?She sounds like she'd be great to work for and is looking for people like you.
I agree, people will assume because it's been
just like everything else...you have to look at the fine print. Even cigarettes, which will kill you...only tell you that in teeny little print. Every commercial for some gimmick to lose weight only tells you it really doesn't work way down in teen, tiny print.
I do QA too and happen to agree with above
I get paid a decent line rate - and can make decent money if I can just give it a quick read and fill in the blanks - believe me I'm not getting rich here..... but when I have to fill in every other word - normally English words - because the MT can't go back and listen to it 3 times like I do - or she puts in contractions - or she does not use the samples provided her and does not follow the format - these things are very irritating.  I'm not QAing - I'm training - there is a HUGE difference... but there are not that many QA jobs out there so I'm not complaining.  I realize sometimes we see more of a doctor than the MT does - especially in these large hospitals - but you can tell when an MT is trying... and lots of these MTs are not trying very hard.
I happen to totally agree with her
and there is no need to get personal and/or nasty about it. I had my CMT also and it was as useless as the paper it was written on. The only ones who seem to put any value on it are the AAMT as they are the ones who get money in their pockets when one of us takes the exam...(oh excuse me the AHDI - I forgot they took MT out of their name!) Anyway, I totally agree 100% - a waste of time and money.
Ouch. I happen to agree with her. 15 years sm
here - and I would not recommend this field to anyone. She asked for opinions and we gave ours - we did not "make" our problems anybody else's.
agree with your ridiculous opinion
75,000..what..we're not doctors..'scuse me sweetie..but a doctor could not do what I do. I am worth every cent of upwards of $75,000/a year..I am highly trained medical terminology specialist and there is not one clinician who could sit down and transcribe the multidisciplinary medical reports I transcribe. You go ahead and think you are worth $10/hour...I know my worth. No wonder Medquist and other MTSOs are able to get away with the crap they do...stupid women who feel they are not worth being paid for their expertise.
I'll agree. Have had the bait n switch happen to me several times. nm
s
I disagree. Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion,
x
I respect that opinion. In fact, I agree with it.

I don't feel it's professional to drink on the job.  However, if other people feel they can have a glass of wine while doing their own work, that's their deal.  It's not like anyone gets drunk off of one alcoholic beverage, unless it's a really huge Long Island iced tea.  LOL

My posts weren't directed at you, but at those people who think name calling, rudeness, belittling people, and being judgmental is merely "expressing a different opinion".  You can completely disagree with someone and keep it civil.  That's being respectful and mature.

I agree...doesn't seem worth it in my opinion...
nm
Should be *en*titled. nm
.
titled QA doesn't mean you know it all
I had a QA woman with 26 years exp. correct my military time with colons...........majority do not use colons
Look down this board and read the thread titled
"How to make money MT'ing" by Dano. It is excellent advice. It should help you a lot. Also on about page 4 or so there are a couple of threads that discuss how some of the higher producers get their production, hints and tips on expanders, macros, etc.

You can do very well at this line of work if you want to and really appy yourself!!
Check out the posting on job board titled "mt job".

This is who we're losing our jobs to?!?!

k, that is your opinion, i stated mine. poor quality in my opinion shows bad work ethics if they do
;
Why does everyone assume that
the MT is on the board during working hours. And even if they aren't, why must we make it our business??
Please don't assume
I type basic 4 plus radiology and have done clinic as well. I am very well-rounded and a CMT.
please don't assume
I didn't mean to offend anyone by my comment - I apologize if I did.

Am I to assume......

that you left your husband or the other way around?

Why assume that because you don't others
I consistently produce 2500-3000 lines a day on the account I currently work on and have been on this account for a little over a year. A lot of factors go into line count, i.e. good docs, platform, etc.

Never assume!
Don't assume
that your previous employer would not take you back! Sure, they could tell you they aren't interested. Then again, you are already trained on their platform and know how they operate. It's only been 2 weeks since you have been gone. They may have an opening for you in another account. Who knows? The person who replaced you may be having a hard time catching on. They may LOVE to have you back! Please don't sell yourself short. You have a much larger advantage than anyone else who may call them for an MT position. If you don't call them, you will never know, right? Be honest with them. Tell them you made a mistake - no big deal - we all make decisions we regret. I think most employers would respect the honesty.

I think you should go for it! Let us know how it goes - I'm pulling for you!
so am I to assume
There is no way to do this?
why do you assume everyone

blames India? I don't think too many of the posts on this board complain that Indians are taking our jobs. I think they're complaining that MTSO's are outsourcing our work. Perhaps the joy we take is not in India's distress but in the MTSO's who sent the work there.

Don't make accusations pretending to know what others are thinking and dumping your "better than thou" attitude on others.

From the sounds of your post, you just like to stir the pot.

I assume that the (sm)
hospital already has a digital system in place for other report types that you have not been transcribing?  If they are now using .wav files for your doctors' dictation and they can route those to an MT company who then sends them to their MTs, then they should be able to route those voice files to you.  You might want to use the Google search box above and search digital and .wav file.  There may be older posts that will help you better understand how this works and what you need in order to keep your doctors.  But, you can always just tell them, "I can transcribe digital files as well.  I was transcribing from your tapes because you were dictating onto tapes.  Now that you are going digital, I can go digital as well."  See what their response is.  Do not let technology stop you.  You just need to do some quick research, get yourself up to date, and present your solution to them.  I hope everything works out for you.
No don't assume

Don't assume that MTSOs have Expanders all set up for you.  Most leave you to do that on your own.  They may have some inserts but in my experience most of the inserts are just for ops and procedures.

Dee

No I would not assume anything - sm
I have only worked for 1 company that had normals/templates. It all depends on their platform, if they even have one that is. I know where I am now does not have a big profit margin (supposedly). I get .07 and .08 depending on the account, I believe they are getting .10 or .12 just from comments I have heard from the MTSO. Supposedly she barely break even which I find hard to believe of course, what would be the point if the MTs make more than you do. Sounds like my MTSO makes maybe 2 to 4 cents on the accounts then has to pay the overhead costs, FTP, TASP, etc. and doesn't end up with much, but again I find that a bit hard to swallow. Who knows for sure.
It's because they assume males in
any predominantly female occupation are gay. Beautician, florist, nurse, secretary, bank teller, MT. Maybe people think all females in male dominated occupations are "butch"?? LOL What do you think of when you see a woman construction worker? A. Gay. B. Not pulling her weight. C. Overpaid fluff job for EEO purposes.
You really shouldn't assume anything
about people you don't know. I am not overweight at all. I eat well and exercise regularly, but I don't condemn other people for eating what they like. It's very rude of you to call me overweight. You don't even know me.
MTE: *LOL* - let these posters assume....sm

When someone assumes something they make an A_ _ out of themselves.  LOTS of companies are using DQS/DEP today.  Some of these posters making such blanket statements are just *totally out to lunch*   and perhaps should find a different field  (if they are so miserable).  Les Miserables....hence, I'd *consider the source*.

again - how on earth could you assume that I could not do your job with the same
education and training.  Who is bashing?
why do you assume I don't care?
You just have waaayyy too much time on your hands to keep attention focused on Y-O-U! I won't share my life or my views. They aren't your concern, nor is my attitude about my profession - as opposed to your _job_.
I assume they mean last year
I would think they would say March of this year if it was this year, but you never know!
Why must posters always assume that we are
not experienced when we ask a question? All I wanted to know is where are these positions advertised, or do they always promote from within. Believe me, I'm educated and experienced.
Can I assume that you're
being paid that for one minute of a voice file? So if the file was 10 minutes you'd make $11.15?

If that's the case, then that sounds like a good deal. Like everything in this game though, it really does depend on speed.

Good luck with it.

Why do you assume she is the dishonest one???
Tell me why you think she is the dishonest one -- unless you are posting for the present board.
I would assume it all to be true....SM
especially considering the fact that the moderator chose to simply remove the information than contest it in any way.
When you assume you are usually wrong, as
you are here.
Probably is Gemzar, but I would flag rather than assume. NM
x
Actually, no, MT with 9 years experience. So, I can only assume

not organized, or just dawdling.  Who knows, but it is frustrating.

Who do people assume all male MTs are gay?
Its not like we're BEAUTICIANS or FLORISTS or something! This really frosts my butt!
you say it's wrong to assume male MTs are gay
but then you say, "Its not like we're BEAUTICIANS or FLORISTS or something!"

So we should assume you grow all of your own food? sm
Do you grow all of your own food, raise your own cattle and chickens, and raise your own sheep, which you then shave yourself and use the wool to make your own clothing? Because even if you're walking to the store, you're still supporting gas-driven machinery. How do you think all of those supplies get to the store? On the back of someone's bicycle?
Why do you assume every post is directed . . .

to you or in reference to your posts????  Sorry, but the world and this board don't revolve around you.  Get real.

I just bought it, I assume it will be slower but (sm)
I will probably be having carpal tunnel surgery in a month or two, and I figure it's better than not working at all (hopefully).
I assume the slow start up has to do
with the fact that the antivirus software is scanning for viruses.
I noticed this, although I have DSL, the start up is usually slow.

TechSupport, am I right or wrong?
I assume that they are told what is ASR and what is Standard...
and they know exactly what each one means.
I am sure tht also over there a different cpl rate applies.
I assume you mean OFFSHORING, not outsourcing? nm
x
I assume she works for a small MTSO or something, not MQ
x
I'm not interested in what my IQ is but for you to assume it's low shows that you have issues
I'm working towards my masters degree and you're an MT.

I don't need to fabricate insignificant numbers to make myself feel adequate. You apparently do.

'Nuff said.
Can't assume samples are correct! Always proofread everything. nm
s
Why do you assume the names here are made up? Could it be the new owners
just posting to post? I have always been here (ss) and I have seen Hayseed, TRose, Country MT and many others that I no longer see anymore. If everyone would keep using their same names, initials we would know who is who.
