That's what ticks me off.  Don't these people have a conscience?  I realize they're in it to make money and it shouldn't get emotional, but I DO think there's something seriously wrong with a person who can screw somebody over like that and feel fine about it.  It's wrong on every level.  I was raised to have consideration for others and to be kind in business and in my personal life.  There is no excuse for it and there is absolutely a place for decency in business.  It's just plain common human decency.  The fact that it's 'business' doesn't excuse somebody's behavior.  I think the docs acting this are completely unprofessional and disgusting.  Imagine if they had a huge workload and you (or any MT) just stopped showing up to get work/stopping doing it.  After a few days they call and you lie and tell them 'my system was down/I was sick/I'm doing the work now' and a few more days pass.  Then finally after a week or two you just tell them, 'I'm not working for you any more and I just didn't want to tell you' and you hadn't done that work for two weeks prior either. That'd go over like poop in a punch bowl!  I mean, if they were left with hours of dictation untranscribed and nobody in their immediate future to transcribe it, they'd smear your name as fast and as far as they could, and they would probably see if there was anything legally they could do to you, don't you think?  Why do they think that we should be treated with any less respect than they'd want?  It galls me.  It really does.  I have to go back into this particular doc's office and I would really like to call them on it.  A few people have told me I should write a letter to them, explaining how it would have been nice had they given me warning/that I would never have done that to them.  But there's no accountability in that.  They can read it and toss it, and it never cross their minds again.  If I stand in front of them and say politely "Good wishes w/your new software.  I'm sorry you didn't feel you could give me fair warning that you were making this switch.  I have a family to provide for just the same as you do, and I would never have left you in the lurch like you did to me."  And see what they say.  I think that's polite enough if said correctly, but also puts them on the spot to answer me and let's them know how they handled it was not okay.  But also I think it's 'nice' enough on my part that they can't say one bad word about me and I still keep my good reputation.  I'd also like to be smug if they apologize and say something like "Oh, I'll be fine."  Something thatmakes them believe that they're a 'little guy' and very easily replaced like they made me feel.  But I probably wouldn't do that.
