and you could have just as easily skipped my posting by that reasoning

Okay, Message Board Police. Next time I decide to express my opinion I'll run it past you for permission first, okay?

Amazing

How do you know how many MT's had skipped

over that job? I cannot tell that on the reports that I do, unless they are very old and out of time sequence so bad.

Thanks.

If you don't like the show, you could have skipped commenting.

Yes I think your brain does not keep up with the voice and that words may get skipped. I have a

concern about that. Is there any way other than completely relistening to train yourself to catch a missed word. I have been good so far on QA but that can change due to the luck of the draw. I think I tend to be more tired at the end of the day and would have more of a tendency to miss things then. I will just go with my QA score and try to rescan as I go and see if that works. I guess if it doesnt I will relisten although I really dont care to do that. That does add quite a bit of time to the day I would expect although I have never timed a report in higher speed. My company is getting much more strict now on QA and so far so good.

Is there anyway to tell if a report is skipped by the status line on a Lanier? TIA nm

Thanks for the link. Interesting. Looks like they skipped a couple of steps. (nm)

reasoning
I am talking about my own experience, but that is not all I am talking about. I would like to know where you got your information as to the "industry as a whole" because I strongly disagree with that statement and suspect you are also speaking from your own experience. I know many people such as myself who hold a CCA credential and are working in coding depts in major hospitals and other settings. Also, where did you get your 70% failure rate info and where on the AHIMA web site does it say there is a problem with employers accepting the CCA? The failure rate is actually somewhere around 40%, 2006 was about 46%. Much of that is because people attempt to take the exam without the requisite experience. The CCA was designed specifically because before testing for the CCS credential it is recommended that a person have 3 years of experience. CPC may be something more common in whatever area you live but I can tell you that in the area I live, which is a very large metropolitan area, we do not have CPC-credentialed coders in our hospital coding areas. If you check the AHIMA journals and read ads for coders, you will find that the great majority require AHIMA credentials (CCA or CCS). Same is true for Advance for HIM, etc., as well as local hiring practices in this area. We do find the CPC in clinics and physician offices but not med rec depts, and oftentimes they are hired with the caveat that they will earn an AHIMA credential within a given time period. Yes, my experience, but don't discount it just on that basis. It represents what is happening in my locale.
No reasoning with an idiot, so I won't try.
lllll
You see, there is no reasoning with an idiot. nm
x
Now there's some convoluted reasoning.

All professions expect to be paid. If you didn't pay your doctor or dentist and then asked for an appointment, you would be refused until your bill is current. Your trash doesn't get picked up if you're behind on the bill, the car gets repossessed if you're not pay on it, etc.

The idea that you should do work so that the patient doesn't suffer is just ridiculous. The patient had their appointment and paid for it. They got what they needed/wanted and you can bet the doctor was paid.

You should IMMEDIATELY cease working for this office until you are paid, period. By continuing to work for them without them being current only shows them that you are a push-over, not a professional at all. Get some backbone and contact this office immediately.

Warn but give no reasoning.....
x
This is extremely dangerous reasoning. SM
It isn't what the "suits" are saying, it is what they are doing.  These are two totally different and separate entities.  My God, are you so complacent that you cannot even take a look around and see the face of the future?  No one is telling anyone to not just "be happy."  A little foresight and present thinking is imperative, not only in the MT world but in many other areas of business, especially IT.  It's all going over to Asia and it's all same-same there.
I don't see the reasoning for 15c for ops and 12 for acute care.
discharge summaries and consultations when PAs and physicians are shuffling papers, trying to find lab data, etc.  Once trained on ops, it's the best moneymaker work type an MT could have.  DS and CON = wasted air time and should be paid higher than ops, IMHO.
Your reasoning does not make illegals ok, still
x
and all that is in your post to back that up is a red face for reasoning?
??
Just give up...no point in reasoning with an individual who does not want to understand. nm.
nm.
You can do this very easily....sm
I've got the same type of setup that you're looking for. I use the Linksys routers and have a wireless router for the desktop PC that is on the other end of the house and use a notebook wireless card for my laptop. The entire setup took less than 10 minutes and their directions are idiot-proof to follow (trust me, I'm technically challenged and I got it right the first time - woo-hoo!)

Do be sure that you set up a password on your wireless access, otherwise someone could easily hack into your access. The easy directions for this was on their website as well.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any specific questions and I'll try to help you.
Especially easily happens
because we use expanders. I once had a report sent back because I had expanded ankle pain out instead of abdominal pain (twice in the report!)... I couldn't believe I didn't catch it when proofing. I guess it must have been one of those brain fog days when I have trouble proofing (along with trying to hurry).

Really when you consider all the poor dictation (along with their actual content), how easy it is to transpose letters or hit the wrong key and expand out something totally off the wall in a particular document, trying to hurry as fast as we can while making tons of little decisions along the way ... we do pretty darn good!

Don't beat yourself up. :)
It can EASILY cause that feeling and yes, it is ...
working from home that does that.

It nags on you because it is "never completed", there's always more to do.

You need to get out of the house and do something OUTSIDE and something WITH OTHERS. That is why I volunteer (see my post a few threads below under "Answers").

You have to really keep a tight rein on disciplining yourself to keep a firm wide boundary between your home life and your work life because they are BOTH at home.
oh please, you can get AIDs here just as easily.

MDs not so easily impressed.
<MTSO for firing this lady>>

No, no, no, he was probably quite surprised and annoyed to be called by an a subcontractor he doesn't know from Jack, rather than the MTSO he hired to do his work. The MD is the one complaining to the MTSO when she doesn't meet TAT, and she CAN't meet it if the IC she hired doesn't send her work in on time. So what does she do? Offer the work to somebody who is more motivated than you. It's business.
You would be surprised how easily someone....sm
gets "lost in the shuffle."  There are so many people applying for jobs and sending resumes.  I found that the applicants who continued to check with me where much more apt to get positions.  If I really didn't want someone because of their abilities, I would just tell them I had no openings, and they would stop contacting me.  You don't want to bug them to the point of irritation, but you certainly should check.
I can easily see the difference.
I don't think you have a problem here.
You can easily do it without the macros. sm
Add an autocorrect. Now do a search for the .acl file by the date you made your change so you know you have the correct file. You need to make sure you are searching the hidden files and you probably need to change your search view to Details so you can see dates. You can right-click the file and send it to your CD (or however you want to transfer the file).

Do the same thing on the new computer so you can find the correct folder path and paste your file.

Sometimes the MS macros don't work because you probably have some entries that are multi-line with paragraphs.

Yes, I could easily become a recluse. Force myself to go out
dd
It could have easily cost you your life. nt

???? She didn't! We can easily see the difference.

Enrichment is done easily in IT, although it can be done in Shorthand sm
This is where you take several days' worth of work for one doctor (if you have your dictionaries divided by doctors) and run the Enrichment option in IT. It looks thru the work and picks out the common phrases and words and automatically adds them to your dictionary. It's really cool! Shorts you didn't know were there suddenly pop up for you all the time. A lot of times it's things it never even clicked to me that the doc says it all the time.

If you want to do this in Shorthand, it's not automatic but can be done. You need to have another piece of software (or a website) and you enter your text in there. It picks out the common phrases and lists them out for you. Then you have to manually go to ShortHand and enter them. Takes quite a bit longer, but still worth it!

I would suggest y'all head over to productivitytalk.com and start absorbing all the knowledge for your particular expander. There is just a ton of knowledge over there, it will blow you away!
Not to flame but every day there's posting after posting about how awful MQ is

Why does anyone still work there?

I don't get it.

Open, easily approachable, and true communication is key.

But since you can switch so easily from one to the other, I just use my email on my main computer &

Static IP address are not as easily attained as you would imply.
Also, most newcomers to the idea of FTP file transfer are not anywhere near the technical level of experience that you claim to have. My answers are being given to provide a SIMPLE solution for this person.
Static IP addresses are not free, either, so despite what you want to assert, your solution is not FREE.
If one is a nonproduction job, managerial, etc wool can be easily pulled

Google "soap note" and you can find it easily.

Did you just say: You can very easily "add lines by inserting a word here and there"
I recall back in the mid 1990s, I was working with a fellow MT who was on midnight shift in medical records. He was making a huge sum of money and we all thought he was "the Whiz."

Come to find out, he was inserting phrases, embellishing dictated sentences I guess you'd call it, to get more lines per report. He got away with it for a number of years but was kissing up to the supervisor and director, always available to help out, nicest guy in the world - but a thief - who fooled us all.

Radiologist would surely notice eventually if not QA.
Make money? I'm not making any money because of my decision. You read my reasoning
You can agree with me or not, but don't make false assumptions please.
I KEEP POSTING ON HERE
What MQ is really doing and how they are crookedly counting lines, but someone keeps deleting my post.
Done! Thanx for posting this!! (nm)

I am not the only one posting here.
Others see it too because they are responding as well. I don't think that you are Zipper in the least. If you would notice the posts from Zipper, Frankie Boy and No whining the wording is almost exactly the same in their posts and Barney is defending them. If you ever saw the posts from Frankie Boy and Zipper, they were extremely offensive. No one in their right mind would think they are funny or want them back on the board.
thanks to all for posting
your post touched me most because i about your same age (52) and now have a 3 yr old to ride. I tried to send to your e/m but it wouldn't send (said invalid e/mail)... My husband told me (ex-racerider) to ride in the corral til we got used to each other -- i thought, 2 hours in a corral? -- i've always just rode out in the open...but now i find that i've spent these last 3 wk exclusively in the corral except for 2 outings when a friend could go with me. I feel like all my molecules have started to respond to the movement under me again (pretty rusty), but was totally upset by those feelings of *&#%# ?? Hate to call it fear, because i have felt true fear before and this was different. But it was totally new to me and i didn't like it. Yesterday was better. I always had so much confidence before and its making me doubt myself to have had these fleeting feelings that day. This is probably about the best colt to have if i'm starting with a young horse (which i also didn't plan on doing, another story); he's been well-started and basically laid back and level headed...again, thanks for your post (and to all). jml
Thanks for posting this...

Some of my stuff has been acting weird, too.  Just curious...have you tried uninstalling the Update w/ Service Pack?  Long story short, my DBF is in IT, said to uninstall the update, but when I tried it said "this update cannot be uninstalled."  Oh great!!!  Guess I should have known to have him install a Service Pack manually.  They can screw things up big-time sometimes if they're not done right.

Anyway, ditto on the heads up folks.

Thanks for posting that ...
I'm a real sucker for cute animal stuff ... now I want a squirrel LOL

How sad. Thanks for posting this

I am sorry about posting this here, but
I need help asap.  I asked on the tech board about a couple of things:  1.  Since I installed VWPlayer on my PC, it has been running a lot slower and my screen has been freezing causing me to lose jobs.  Also, everywhere I look for directions on backing up autocorrect, it says something about look in C:ProgramFilesMicrosoftOffice and then it says office10, but my only option is to look in Office and when I do, it does not say macros.  I have MS Word 2000 if that helps.  Also, I just recently added some memory (going from 128 to 384 after addng 256)  Are there any techies around?  Thanks for all your help!!
Thanks for posting...
hat is what I make now as an MT, of course, which is par.

do they have a different name/classification/description now for that job duty?

the AAMT is always boasting how they are going to help transition MTs into the technology, but have yet to offer ANYthing more, as to how, when, for whom, etc.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this does not mean a cut in pay...

appreciate the input...

Post anytime. We all make mistakes and we all have been there. I posted something upset and I've been in the business for years. I got some smart mouthed answers and I received help that discounted that, so it evened out. Posting is good for you, you are as sick as your secrets and I am not going to judge anyone who posts upset. That's a good thing, get it off your chest. Don't run away. Stay and we'll support you IMHO. Good luck to you, sounds like you're having a tough time. Been there, done that, I showed up 2 hours late for a TAT in my black dress and got a nasty remark. I buried my Dad at 9:00 and went at 11:00 am to return my work. I said, "I just buried my Dad this morning." Didn't make a darned bit of difference. You get no sympathy from TAT excuses, believe me, one doc told me he didn't care who died, he just wanted his work. Stay, please.
She was posting under a different name

so, honestly, I'm new, what is THIS board for?
I think some of those are posting, above.

Thanks for posting
I imagine those shows do over dramatize everything. But I do hope it really did give your husband an overall appreciation for what you do. I work part-time, I couldn't even imagine working full-time and doing all of my mom/wife/housekeeper duties.

Yes, thanks for posting...SM
You can't always believe what you see on TV. All of that is edited to make for better ratings. It seemed like you both gained a little something from the experience though, so that is a plus.

If you don't mind me asking, what made you both decide you wanted to go on the show?
