in retrospect, which is probably not what you need now,

we have since learned to videotape everything, and even have a witness do a walk-through with you and the representative when you leave. even get something in writing.

money is so tight now, this does not surprise me. bad economy does very strange things to people...even makes 'good' people do some 'not so good' things.

you can always file a complaint, or perhaps write to the actual owner of the company. even if you do not get your money back, it will make you feel better you spoke up.

you probably had a lease since it was a company, and it may have all in there. some do mention you are responsible for cleaning expenses.

we rented a house once and were told - no security deposit back because we did not CLEAN THE GUTTERS...can you imagine? they were just upset because we moved after 4 years in Nov., and I guess they were south for the winter...I remember they were very upset, but, hey, when you are young you do not necessarily always think of other people, chuckle!

anway, video and witness (not a relative), for future.

perhaps they have an on-site management problem and they should be told in case the money is being pocketed...I would certainly write to the owner, or call...

best to you in your new home,by the way!

In retrospect, it was the best thing that could have happened to me

I would have had a hard time just making the decision to leave and strike out on my own, working at home. The one good thing about the hospital was that it paid well.  But I was very unhappy there and my poor husband bore the brunt of it when I would come home with all that frustration "saved up" and talk to him about it for hours at a time.

So, although at this point our financial situation may not be quite as solid, my husband has a good job which provides benefits for both of us, I love working at home, and I have two part-time jobs with great people to work with. I get to stay at home with my sweet doggie Fox and look out at the flowers blooming and the new leaves growing on the trees everywhere.....all in all, I am very happy with my new situation. I have a peace of mind that I never had while working at that other job.

to all those who have been supportive in this thread. It means a lot to me that you are willing to "go out on a limb", so to speak, to support what I have been saying. Give yourself a great big pat on the back!
