The prep is worse than the procedure, believe me. nm

It's not like it's all that expensive to prep either.
Just $5 a week dedicated to food storage adds up to a good prep supply in no time. 2 cans of tuna and a bag of rice and beans one week, powdered milk and a canned ham the next, etc. Water is free when you store it in 2-liter pop bottles, and relatively inexpensive if you buy gallon jugs at the store. An oil lamp is about $10 at WalMart, and 1 bottle of lamp oil is a couple of bucks. The DGIs (don't get its) are idiots and I absolutely abhor my tax dollars being spent on them. Of course, the elderly and infirm I begrudge nothing. I just wish they could be the only ones we had to spend money on.
would like CMT prep materials
Hi everyone... how can I obtain some CMT prep workbooks, CDs, etc?  I bought the self-assessment tool of 60 questions ... but I'd like to follow-up on this.  Any leads for me ?   Thanks !  Jojo
RMT Prep/Oak Horizons
Does anyone have any experience with these courses. They cost $75.00 and last a month. Do I need these sample questions? Are they helpful?

OR

Do you think by current texts the the RMT review guide and BOS workbook is all I need?

Thanks in advance.
Prep is definitely the worst part!
My gastroenterologist had me take Fleets Phosphosoda, which you can buy at your local drug store. Worked great and absolutely no cramping whatsoever. I told him I wanted to be put under and he ordered Ditropan, which worked awesome! I woke up feeling great and ready to go back to work! I have had two colonoscopies done and would not hesitate to have another one done if I needed to.
I use an alcohol prep pad to clean the dirt off &
the corner of the packet it comes in I slide between the keys all around and I get these big dust bunnies that I just pull out with my fingers.  I also turn it upside down and shake it once in a while too.
clean the heads with an alcohol prep, if
you have one, or take out the ink jet cartridge and using a gentle wrist motion, turn it up and down a few times and replace.
Get the CMT prep guide. I studied the stuff I was rusty on like radiology.

Didn't study that much but the questions that were on the test were in the prep guide.  Good luck.  I am happy to be a CMT and proud of it and it does mean a little more money for me, and the cost was reimbursed by my employer.

Curious. I've never fasted for a colonoscopy, just clears for 2 days and then the colon prep. The

Worse. Far, FAR worse. (no mssg)

there is good and bad in every procedure--sm
I suppose and everybodies experience is different. If you decide to do it, I wish you all the best. Keep an eye on those cells. My father died of cancer that began with esophageal cancer, two years ago. Both my brother and I have reflux problems, as well, so I do worry about it. Good luck to you in your decision.
Any MTs around that have had the LASIK procedure and how are you doing?

Please post a response

What does elective procedure got ....
nm
Very simple procedure
Download your voice files from the email to directory (folder) on your hard drive (usually should create special one just for this) you know you will always use for docking these recordings. Then open ES and click on the Load square at top of program. This will open the directories on your computer. Go find the one where you just downloaded the email recordings to, click on the one you want to bring into ES (one by one or batch). Then click the "load" key at the bottom of that screen and you should see them coming into the ES window. Takes a while for them to install if they're long. It's only complicated the first time!
not painful and very quick procedure but...sm
But......a person needs multiple sessions and that's where it gets very expensive.  The plastic surgeons I work for did it and the one who does not own the practice charged me 50%.  I went twice and didn't go back and yes, the chin hairs recurred.  It is nonpainful and fast procedure FYI.
operative report vs procedure
I used to think I understood the difference between these two types of reports (operative versus procedure). Somehwere along that way, amidst dozens and dozens of account profile specifications, technology advances and MDs who always key in the OP code regardless of report type, I am not so sure anymore. I would like to try to elicit a consensus on how transcriptionists distinguish between these two report types and what criteria they are using to do this?
Anyone familiar with Spark procedure ...
relating to bladder suspension?  Can't find on internet.
well, i've hesitated having a procedure done
in large part due to the economy. Probably there are a lot of people that are holding off on elective surgeries along with other unessential spending....
s/l two 4 x 4’s peripad and mesh panties.......PPH procedure

Read the policy and procedure manual, maybe something is in there.
I do not believe there is a law, but you could check with the labor department.
Sorry, you said Edit Script - think same procedure applies though.
I think the same thing applies, go find where you downloaded it and click on the setup file. All programs will not self-install. If I remember correctly you have to find the install or setup file to start it manually. Sorry for the mix up in programs. Good Luck again.
The easy answer, taking all the easy work and

Yep - nearly always start their para's w/ capped heading of procedure to be described.

Do you give a discount for standard procedure notes? SM

I have an account who asked me to provide them with a form that could use for standard outpatient procedure notes.  I personally feel that there are too many variations for them to use one paper form and offered for me to do it for them at a discount since almost the entire thing would be a standard that I don't have to type in its entirety.  This account is a great account and I figured it isn't a big deal say to chage 25 cents instead of a $1 (example) for the form since I only have to type a couple letters to pull up the form and insert any changes.

I really don't know the easiest way to keep track of this discount or what amount to discount.  Any ideas?  I'd rather see me getting a small amount for doing the form then to get nothing for them using a paper form.  Plus, the account is newer to me and I thought it might look like a plus for me to offer them a discount and to make their life easier by not having to dictate the entire note.

Thoughts...ideas???  TIA

it is SPARC sling bladder suspension procedure. nm

not sure about Neer procedure, but this is a great site for samples...
http://www.mtsamples.com/index.asp

-----I have not personally checked all the reports here but the site seems reliable...

Did you try to Google Neer procedure/impingement, etc?
Does anyone know of a good site to find sample op/procedure reports
I have found very few sites that have sample op reports.  Anything would be appreciated.  Thanks
That's funny, I *love* ER's. Also Ops, procedure notes. Can't stand anything LONGGGGGGGG. n
.
Could you post the entire sentence? Is "parogy material" something used in the procedure or
something encountered during the procedure?
Ridiculous. It's not a medication or a procedure she's questioning. This is a moral issue.
She is way out of line to question transcribing that. You're comparing apples to oranges.
Well, Word is easy to buy and easy to install. Word 97 works great. Cheap. SM
I still would not work anywhere I could not use a spell checker with grammar checker and a Steadman's Medical Spell Checker.

IF they want people to TRANSCRIBE MEDICAL REPORTS, then I guess they better get the programs they need.

It's like probably 110% easier to buy and install Word 97 than to try to program their own programming. And, yes, I do mean Microsoft Word 97. Why? Because you can install it unlimited times, in case you need to install the operating system again. And it has a few features that Microsoft, in its un-wisdom, took away in Word 2000 and 20003 and 2007. So, yes, I'd go with Word 97 for its cheapness and it works better than the later versions. Just my opinion, with 20 years experience being an MT. So what if they "don't have it" on their computer? It's easy to get.
Easy easy money they are!

I don't mind seeing those puppies filter in at all.  Same for H&Ps.  They are always different though, so can't really pop in the same pre-formatted autotext, but it's usually WHAMMO 2-3 pages at a time.  Give them a shot...you may just be pleasantly surprised!

I think I smell either VR on the easy stuff, or offshoring of the easy stuff.
d
got one even worse...
18 minutes of dictation = 42 lines!  After he spelled out half of the report for me and then said uh, uh, uh between every word, I wanted to scream.
It could be worse, but
MTs are hard to come by, especially good ones. Take a look at the jobs offerings, you don't have to sit back and take it. I would suggest you go turn on the news for a while and picture yourself in someone else's shoes. You have no reason to complain because you have options.
Believe me..it gets worse..(sm)
I live in Kansas...and top-out pay for the hospital here in this rinky dink town is $8.46 an hour....yes ladies and gents...clean up the coffee you just spit all over your screen...I said $8.46 an hour.  I have to work for a national to get more competetive pay because it's sure not going to come from this area!
Yes, she is usually MUCH worse
nm
Yes and yes...what's worse
I don't know if they still are, as I haven't watched in the last few weeks, but on Guiding Light, Tammy, who is Cassie's daughter, is in love with and dating Johnathan, Reva's son. Well, Cassie and Reva are sisters...so that makes Tammy and Johnathan cousins.....talk about GROSS!!!!!
OR WORSE
USE YOUR IMAGINATION, AND I HEARD IT.  Doctor was not alone.
What's even worse...
It having reporters who consistently can't get one thing right. I'm the administrative/performance head of an Irish dance school in a fairly large community, and every article the local paper has done on the school has been, well...fiction! You give them fact, and they turn it into something that doesn't even vaguely resemble the truth.

Having taken journalism in college, I remember the adage "truth in reporting." And let's think about "fact checking."

Seems it doesn't exist any longer.

Though it is at the expense of the school, I no longer want our achievements butchered into fiction by the local rag.
Worse.
:(
For better or worse....
I'm not afraid to leave blanks.  I will try my hardest to figure out what they are saying, but if I can't even figure out a "sounds like", I don't see the point in driving myself crazy.
Definitely WORSE!
Can't stand Barbara and her scrunched up face that doesn't move. The football player's wife is extremely boring and never has anything interesting to say. Joy is okay although she can be obnoxious at times and just can't make the show by herself. Definitely don't want to watch Rosie. The mere sound of her voice gets on my nerves, not to mention I don't like anything about her.
What is even worse
is when you are being paid 3 or 4 cpl to edit a voice recognition report like the one you described. After editing VR reports for the last few years, I have come to the conclusion that, unless the MT is on a creampuff account, VR is not a big money maker for the transcriptionist. The transcription companies are the ones who benefit from VR. They charge the client for regular lines, but only pay the MT half the amount to edit the report, even if the MT ends up having to retype half of the report.
Lol.. oh man. which one is worse
I guess I'll take Sanjaya... or I like to call him Escalito. He reminds me of Jack's Black's sidekick in Nacho Libre.
Worse day ever

I feel awful today.  While transcribing using my C-phone and word..we had a power surge where the electricity shut off for only like a minute.  I was at the end of my report and thought it was saved...when the power came back on the job was off of my phone and I just went ahead and transcribed everything but my last job...had written down all my demographic info for my records and just glanced in my to send folder to see that the job was missing!!!

Once a job is off of my C-phone, even dialing back into the system and selected by job number will not allow you access to the report.   I was so upset that then on top of all of this I accidentally popped my last job out of my que without transcribing it

I feel so terrible!!  I'm still in training too, probably gonna get canned for this!!  I really needed the job and have spent so many off hours logging QA reports, saving templates, making shortcuts, etc!!!  I wish this account had a way to retrieve a previously transcribed report, especially for the Transcriptionist it was assigned to....has this ever happened to any of you?  I haven't been on an account before that you can't retrieve a voicefile...I feel really awful..overall I love the account and was really doing well...

Thanks for letting me vent.

I know of one that is worse,
A gum-chewing, lip-smacking, flatulent, yawning ESL neuroradiologist who sits by a nursing station with loud call bells and giggling women nearby who talks on a cell phone to a girlfriend simultaneously with dictationg. Yes, I will go to heaven. I keep hoping he will move on to another hospital, but so far no luck.
Just ask, The worse they can say is no. Then
x
yep, it can always be worse
Doesn't matter what subject you're talking about, it can always be worse and usually is for someone else. It's always nice to hear what someone else is paying for gas so I know that my $4.00 a gallon isn't so darn bad.
it could be worse
always.
I used to think I made good money but that was before I had a mortgage and the price of gas wasn't through the roof... I don't know what other people make, which is why I posted below what an appropriate salary to ask for is... but nobody seems to talk about how much they are actually making...
It could be worse
I would love to know where you work.  I'm not making anywhere near that.
