great website for credit and credit cards, interest rates

Has anyone used a credit counseling service to consolidate credit cards?
What was your experience?  Was it worth it?  Which ones are credible?
New credit card interest rates (sm)

Wondering if those of us on this board have noticed that credit card companies will be increasing their interest rates along with the minimum payment due soon.  How will this affect some people who can barely make the minimum payments now.  Any insight greatly appreciated.

credit cards
Don't charge unless you can pay the piper.
credit cards (sm)
Yes, this is what I am referring to.  I have been receiving these notices in the mail lately basically stating that the credit card companies can do whatever they want, i.e., raising interest rates, miminum payments, etc.  This was attached onto the new bankruptcy bill that was passed in October.  These changes will take effect I believe in Jan 2006.  I am getting rid of all of mine.  I have a good FICO score of 765 and have opted out of these new changes with the intent of paying off these cards.  Hope everyone else is paying attention.  Happy Thanksgiving!!
Then, do not get any more credit cards,
bank in this country, go to the doctor at all, have insurance, buy a Dell computer, or do any customer service calling. Boycott .. look around they are everywhere .. ;-)
Credit cards come in handy during emergencies
I know a few people who lived off their credit cards when their savings ran out and they had no income for short periods of time.

Also, other investors might purchase your home. If you want to sell it fast, price it to sell, knock the profit down to 20-25 G.
Medical trans versus credit cards, what I had happen
I have a credit card for a department store who has a bank (a big famous band, by the way collect for them). I always pay online, but I have had trouble with this bank in the past. I couldn't get online to pay so my payment was late. They had someone call me from overseas, he would not tell me where but wanted to collect my payment over the phone (I had already by them paid through my bank bill payer). He wanted my address, telephohne #(which he had, he called me), my banking information to collect the payment). I said no way, how do I even know you work for this bank and I can hardly understand you and dohn't want my personal information overseas. He stated, "what do you care, I don't even live in the united States." Duh, what did that mean.

So, what I am saying is, he already had my information, he just wanted me to verify it and he probably did work for the bank but I really resented them sending my financial information overseas and have somebody in another country want to collect a payment out of my bank account. The bank did not have my account # though.

But.... what is happening is like with these kids taking guns to school, we get so desensitized by TV with so many cops and robbers, knowing creditors will be calling if we forget or don't make a payment, we just blurt it out. I don't anymore just because of knowing what can happen. This guy could have cleared out my bank account and what legal means would the bank have to prosecute someone overseas? Fire him? I won't even give this bank my account # because they want to charge 10.00 over the phone but it is free on line so I refuse to pay them over the phone, so they do this.

Big business can pay for the lobbyists on Capitol Hill, big, big bucks to get legislature for them to be able to do business overseas and save tons of money. Our president is one of the biggest helpers to this. I'll bet his records don't go overseas.
Okay, let me see if understand, you bid on a job and whoever has the lowest bid gets the job... SM

You get paid by the company who accepts your bid and still you have to pay the website a fee for using their service?

My only question is, WHY?

Why is something like this an appealing way to earn money?

If 13 is the lowest you can go and still make a profit,
Whether someone else can afford to charge 11 cents is not relevant. Don't fixate on thta. You need to calcualate all your expenses (both direct and indirect), add to that a profit you can be happy with, and that's your price plain and simple. If your client accepts it, that's great. If not, it's out of your hands, and you start looking for a new client.
I tried DSL through my local phone company. The lowest

fee was $24.95/mo and wasn't much faster than dial-up.  Lots of companies advertise DSL but they may not have service in your area.    The commercials that show fast speeds (up to 5 times faster) for $9.95 is dial-up and it only works with internet site downloads, does not make FTP/voice/music/picture downloads/uploads any faster.

I would check out any company thoroughly to be sure they are legit, check out their claims, fees, technical support, etc.

How much is the highest/lowest pay for an MT working in CorTmedical? Kindly reply.
I'm just curious to know how much do they pay an MT who just started working with them. Thanks.
CREDIT, everyone is living on credit, and from what I see
with a rather, 'might as well, we have no future' kind of attitude.

our credit cards are maxed out, we are buying gas, food (which I swore I would never do, how stupid - all that interest for food, yuck!), paying bills, and we would not have survived without them. now they are maxed out, and we are not making one bit more than we were.

glad things must be going so well for you, but look around in your own neighborhood.

the gap is closing between rich and poor. like it is in somalia, for example.

call us doomsdayers, but I call it protecting our own interests.

why is it the only people who are supposed to care about themselves are the rich?
It might interest you to know
My friend's son-in-law works for a large tree-trimming company and was sent down to help out. However, another company that had already been there were held up at gunpoint and had all their power tools and equipment stolen, all their money, watches, etc., so my friend's son-in-law's company said the hell with them and they are calling all their people back home. These are the people who are crying for help and then they turn on the ones who are trying to help them. I would say the hell with them, too.
Kay's the one who said she had no interest

in looking up past polls on the exact topic (that are from "real" individuals!).  Or that real individuals had no interest in answering her poll, whatever.  I merely suggested that people get tired of answering the same old questions, which is why she's not getting any response.

Why you bagging on me?  She asked the question, she didn't like being told to do a little research, it's the same as on the Word board.  If you think being honest and offering a suggestion is a smart-butt reply, man, you need to get out more often.

My interest in this???
If you would have read the original post, you would know my interest, which is nothing.  I was simply asked to check this board out by a number of associates that are MTs and wanted my input as to whether or not I thought there was a resolution to all the issues mentioned here.  I simply was making an observation of all the topics.  I simply was throwing a few thoughts out there.  I simply was trying to make a difference.  It seems that the most of the MTs here are not looking for a resolution, but just a place to vent and do nothing else but that.  There is an old saying "where there's a will, there's a way".  These companies can only get away with what the MTs allow them to get away with.  If the American MTs refused to fill in the off-shore work, the company would have no choice but to change their protocol.  If the MTs would refuse to fill in VR for low pay, they would have to change that too!  Yes, there is always someone with less experience willing to work for less and they too would soon be found out.  The MTs here can argue back and forth with me about what I have to say, stating I know nothing of the history, etc., however, any person with half a brain reading here for a short period could see that if you did something about what you are complaining about, instead of allowing it, you just might see a change.  I have been helping people get results for many many years and have been very successful.  So.... with that being said, I am not the one on the losing end.
No credit card is a good credit card.
Just kidding. I'd suggest not using credit cards to pay debts. It'll only dig you in deeper. Look into a signature loan or putting a lien against a vehicle or house. Lower interest rate, pay off sooner.
The so-called "reality show" is the lowest form of so-called entertainment in recent years
I hate them. They've ruined TV.
No interest in polls
I wanted to hear from 'real' individuals.  I know that polls are supposedly based on responses from individuals -yet, no interest.
I see no problem with that - seems it would be in their best interest also
nm
No conflict of interest. sm
Obviously he is her client, and if she's not typing for him on her time with the company you both work for, there is no conflict of interest.

She is free to type for whomever she wants as long as it is not on company time.

Whatever is going on with the doctor and the company you work for are separate issues.

Hope this helps!
and then you have to pay taxes on the interest LOL
I buy I Bonds.

Not sure why everyone is so anti-government. The government DOES do a lot of things for us and to do that they need money!
Depends on the pay and account. My lowest average is $15.52 an hour (roughly 182.6 lines an hour) w
;'
what's you interest in this that you have become such a beitch about the whole issue?
Just curious?
Yes, definite conflict of interest there.
Speak to your manager and let him/her handle it.
Put it in the bank. 100 years of interest. Just think!

Give me a break!

I needed a good laugh, thanks for posting.  Trust me, I'm only laughing at the sheer stupidity of issuing a check for one cent. You can't even rebel and send it back to them because you'd be out 36 cents.

Maybe you should frame it and label it, "My Big Bonus."

JT, and just what IS your interest in any poster's orientation? nm
nm
Oh yes. If you are penalized, you have to pay interest rates sm
that make credit card companies look generous.  Better to have more withheld than having to owe.  I hated filing those quarterly returns.  yuck.
Not at 23% interest on a repayment plan! NM

Especially their interest in CHINA, of all places. -sm
Look at what's been coming out of there already - poison pet food, poison people food, badly made and dangerous children's toys, flimsy everything else, etc. They try to bend the rules on just about everything they make & export.

Imagine the quality of their medical transcription.....

[* SHUDDER! *] :/
Do you have interest in this site or what?! - No Message
?
Lowest runs $900 week, highest $1400 week (sm)
Get paid 12 CPL. Been doing transcription for about 12 years.

Easy enough to just skip over subjects that don't interest you? NM

Call around and ask. I'm sure there would be plenty of interest in having you as a client!

I lost interest when Chris left . . .
but of the two I think Katherine is the "whole package". As far as being inconsistent, she's a young amateur, get her in the studio and a couple years experience and I think she'll be pretty darn good. Kelly has greatly improved over the years.
My CMT lapsed years ago because of lack of interest. sm
in AAMT and the direction it was taking.

I've found that having been a prior CMT is quite enough to get the interest of potential employers. However, it is how well you transcribe NOW that gets you recognition. Your work will speak for itself.

It's up to you if you want to spend the money for the test and the money and precious time to maintain the CEs. For me, it's how well I get the job done now that matters to me and my employer.

IMO, once a CMT, always a CMT, whether active or lapsed. They are just letters, and I have no regrets.

Some bad grammar above, eh?, but you get the picture.

BTW, I was CMT by exam by proctor in the good old days when USA transcription was all-American (and then I became a proctor!)

I agree with your opinion about the "grandfathered" CMTs.

Hope this helps. And BTW, I admire your attitude.

We couldn't keep up interest & attendance to keep the chapter going. This was years ago. nm

Unlike a certain MTSO..the big kids don't have any interest in monitoring MT boards.
nm
My extreme interest in all things medical/surgical keeps me loving it. nm
.
They are checking accounts with higher interest, minimum balance required, I believe.

I filed for an extension and paid nothing until August 15th. No penalty for that, just interest. nm

Not to mention you're letting the govt use your money INTEREST FREE
Ack!

Now that said, I usually have them withhold a little too much simply because we can't take a payment hit.
OF INTEREST TO ALL TIME WARNER CUSTOMERS...THEY ARE GOING TO START CHARGING FOR USAGE AND NOT A FLAT

This really sucks as the article said it would impact heavy users only.  My cable bill is already high but to be charged for actual using will skyrocket my bill.  I think I could spit nails right now.  I can post the article if anyone is interested.  They said it will be a trial period.  Anyone else use Time Warner?

cards
I just replaced my sound card, as well. I like the updated version of creative sound blaster... SB X-FI Audio. It is expensive, but worth the quality sound.
air cards
I use a Verizon wireless air card and it will not let you use a router. I can obviously unplug it from one pc and use it on another but not at the same time on both.  I had asked about this when I signed up for it and they said that you have to have different cards on different computers to be able to use at the same time.  I hope this helps.
Anything I should know about sound cards.
:
debit cards
do they automatically take the money out of your account the second you use it.  I looked at my account online and it is very low. DH has been using the DC and it has not shown any of the transactions dh made this weekend.  Just wandering if it had already took those out but hasn't shown it yet on-line or are we going to be bumbarded tomorrow.  If dh don't get his paycheck in Wed and quick me may be in trouble
Here's the way these cards work...sm
They put a hold on your account the second the card is scanned for the amount it is scanned for. The processing of the charges goes through usually within hours to a couple of days depending on your bank.

Here's the #1 pitfall of debit cards - and my fiance just learned this the hard way after I had already warned him. We went out to eat 3 weeks ago and the waiter ran the wrong ticket on his debit card. Our total was around $40. The waiter rang the table next to us which was a larger group of people and their charges were right at $100. We caught the error when he brought the ticket to be signed. His boss immediately ran a credit; however, the banking system wouldn't post the credit to his account for 3 days. This means that for 3 days he had $60 less available than he should have had available. My mom also had an episode once where she and some friends went out to eat and the waiter hit a wrong button, charging her $127.00 instead of $12.70. Sure they ran a credit right away but for 3 business days she didn't have access to the difference in the amounts. While neither of them were in danger of bouncing checks over these clerical errors, if they had been running low on funds then they would have had checks bounce and it wouldn't have been their fault. I refuse to have a debit card for this very reason. By using a credit card if there's a mistake made then at least you have access to regular cash while the correction is being applied.
USB wireless cards are available.
You can get a wireless card that plugs in directly to a USB port. Just go to any tech store. We have both Dell and Lynksis versions on various machines here. There is usually an installation cd with the device.
Sprint Air cards
I agree with the above poster, however, I know that when I visited North Carolina a little over a year ago, my cell phone coverage was terrible. The thing to remember with air cards whether they be from Sprint, Verizon or Cingular is that the speed that you get with using one of these is very dependent on how close you are to a cell tower. I have the USB air card from Sprint and can use it with either my desktop or my laptop.
