And all that being said...

In Reply to: You are cold, blind to yourself and obviously - don't know anything about life on the coast.

the same thread is coming out now, from people being interviewed who lived through both, from Ray Nagin, from all the state and local governments...this time the people paid attention. The people themselves are saying it....

And what in the world makes you think this poster hates anyone? There were white people affected by Katrina as well as black people. There were white people who did not get out, just like black people. You are trying to make it a hate or race issue which is typical of Democrats.

The fact is, Bush did declare an emergency, and he begged Blanco to give the feds jurisdiction, which she and Nagin refused to do until it was too late to get that many people out. This time the governor and nagin did not get in the way of the federal government. Tie his hands and then blame him for not acting. So typical.

No one is BLAMING the people for the disaster. But those of us who have seen the hurricane parties (including the one in New Orleans before Katrina)... many people did not react to Katrina as they should have.

THIS time Ray Nagin got on tV and said: If you ignore the mandatory evacuation, you are on your own. Help will not be on the way. This is a Democratic mayor. He also said any looters caught will be taken directly to Angola prison and put in the general population. No hearing, no holding in New Orleans, straight shot to Angola (kinda walked all over due process). That is a Democrat mayor. He learned something last time. And one of those things is that individuals are responsible for their own behavior. They have had had several days to get out this time. And most of them showed up for the buses this time. Although I think no help is coming may be a bit extreme, that is what he said.

He would not be acting in this way if he did not know that people refusing to evacuate last time until it was too late...they do have to bear some of the responsibility. No matter what color they are.

What a ridiculous statement. One of you says it and then everyone picks up andcarries it like a banner. Do any of you think individually?
