I thought you loved to argue daggummit?!
Well like I said I understand not wanting to vote for Mccain. I really don't either. I just can't in good conscience vote for Obama. Like I said I have to look at the issues from a Christian point of view before I look at them from any other view. Mccain is not the epitome of a Christian candidate, but to measure him against Obama he is more so than Obama. Or at least he will hold closer to the laws of God than Obama.

I know Obama says he is a Christian, but you will know a Christian by the fruit he bares. I'm not liking his fruit. :)

Lesser of two evils unfortunately.
I thought you guys DESPISED rich people and would rather they be
x
Wassa matter. Did they make you think outside you itty bitty box? NM

Where did gays come from?
Answer:  I don't know.  Without starting world war 3, my PERSONAL belief is that it is a choice.  Others would not agree.  I do know that kids are great imitators and if they are raised by gays I expect they will see being gay as the "normal" way of life and that is against everything in nature.  Again, my PERSONAL belief, if God had intended to have Adam and Steve He would not have created Adam and Eve.
You are the one who was agains the gays
Christ wasn't like that, so why call yourself a Christian?
Do I hate gays? No. Do I think I'm better
than a homosexual? No, again.  Do I agree with their lifestyle?  No.  In the same regard, do I think I'm better than an alcoholic/drug addict/adulterer/etc?  No.  Do I agree with their lifestyle?  No.  My feelings about the rightness or wrongness of homosexuality are a personal conviction.  I am a Christian, but I don't hate.  I may not like what they do, what they believe in, but they still have a soul, and, as a Christian, the Bible commands me to love my neighbor as myself.  No hate involved at all.  Just a difference of beliefs.
I don't think gays and lesbians are
second class citizens.  What in the world is the big deal???  What is it they want? Look how many heterosexual couples live together without benefit of marriage.  Well, maybe this push for gays and lesbians to be able to marry is instigated by some lawyers who see more dollars from divorce court.  Next thing we know Mormon polygomists (sp?) will be demanding their rights to marry 500 women.  Why don't we just go ahead and throw all morality right out the window.
Gays have a right to marry
I sincerely believe that all are equal on this planet. Why would we want to deprive them of happiness?
except that most gays are about INCLUSION, not
They believe in 'live and let live', NOT 'my way or the highway'.
Then gays and lesbians should do the same
--
It has never been a right for gays to marry....
--
Christians don't hate gays
but the Bible says it is a sin. We love gay people and hope that they come to know the Lord and in doing so will understand it's a sin. Marriage is for a man and a woman.

Please, if you don't really understand Christianity, don't speak about it. People make so many assumptions about what we believe.

Love the person, hate the sin. We are all sinners. Gays are no worse than us. My telling a little white lie is just as much of a sin as someone being gay which is just as much of a sin as someone killing a child. In God's eyes there are no "levels" of sin. That's why we need Jesus, to pay our sin debt, because all the good works in the world can't save us.

Flame away...
Ummm...I think gays care. lol. That...
being said..."it doesn't affect my paycheck.." is that your barometer for whether something matters to you? Just wondering.

And secondly...threw it on the ballot to manipulate voters? Manipulate them how? You don't have to vote for...or against...on everything on the ballot.
Nobody is denying the gays the right to assembly...
also, you really have no idea what this particular group of people feel about gays or anything else. There are Christians who are sympathetic to gay marriage. Not me, but that is beside the point. To be honest, I think that they should file the proper paperwork and follow the law, I just think your argument is flawed.
You hate blacks AND gays? You think Fox is the news..
I am not answering any more of your racist, rude dumb posts. Talk to yourself, all 3 or more of your selves that you are posting here so obviously.
Judge overturns Florida ban on adoption by gays

(CNN) -- A Florida circuit judge Tuesday struck down a 31-year-old state law that prevents gays and lesbians from adopting children, allowing a North Miami man to adopt two half-brothers he and his partner have raised as foster children since 2004.

"There is no question, the blanket exclusion of gay applicants defeats Florida's goal of providing dependent children a permanent family through adoption," Judge Cindy S. Lederman wrote in her 53-page ruling.

"The best interests of children are not preserved by prohibiting homosexual adoption."

The state attorney general's office has appealed the decision.

Lederman said there is no moral or scientific reason for banning gays and lesbians from adopting, despite the state's arguments otherwise. The state argued that gays and lesbians have higher odds of suffering from depression, affective and anxiety disorders and substance abuse, and that their households are more unstable.

Lederman said the ban violated children's right to permanency provided under the Florida statute and under the federal Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997. Whether the ban violated the state's equal protection clause by singling out gays and lesbians should be considered, she said.

Lederman's ruling paves the way for Martin Gill to legally adopt the two half-brothers, ages 4 and 8, whom he has cared for since December 2004, the American Civil Liberties Union said.

The two boys, who are referred to as John and James Doe in court documents, were removed from their homes on allegations of abandonment and neglect.

On that December evening, John and James left a world of chronic neglect, emotional impoverishment and deprivation to enter a new world, foreign to them, that was nurturing, safe, structured and stimulating," Lederman wrote.

In 2006, the children's respective fathers' rights were terminated, court documents said, and they remained in the care of Gill and his partner.

"Our family just got a lot more to be thankful for this Thanksgiving," Gill said Tuesday, according to the ACLU, which represented him.

Florida is the only state that specifically bans all "homosexual" people from adopting children, although it does allow them to be foster parents.

This month, Arkansas voters approved a ballot measure to prohibit unmarried partners -- same-sex or opposite-sex couples -- from adopting children or from serving as foster parents. The measure is similar to one in Utah, which excludes same-sex couples indirectly through a statute barring all unmarried couples from adopting or taking in foster children.

Mississippi allows single gays and lesbians to adopt, but prohibits same-sex couples from adopting.

Neal Skene, spokesman for the Florida Department of Children and Families, said the appeal was filed so a statewide resolution on the law could be determined by an appellate court. He noted that another Florida circuit judge declared the law unconstitutional this year but that ruling had not been appealed.

"We need a statewide determination by the appellate courts," he said.

Gill's adoption petition cannot be approved until the appeal process is finished, Skene said, but the children will remain in Gill's home.

"These are wonderful foster parents," Skene said. "It's just that we have a statute, [and] the statute is very clear on the issue of adoption."

Several organizations -- including the National Adoption Center, the American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics -- have said that having gay and lesbian parents does not negatively affect children.

The Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, a nonprofit organization that studies adoption and foster care, hailed the decision.

"This ban, which was the only one of its kind in the country, has done nothing but undermine the prospects of boys and girls in the foster care system to get permanent, loving homes," said Adam Pertman, the Adoption Institute's executive director, in a written statement.

"So this decision by Judge Lederman is a very important, hopeful ruling for children who need families."

HA HA HA HA HA - loved it
The insanity drives me crazy.

Loved it...thank you!

 GO OBAMA!!

What I loved even better (sm)
was that he was trying to give her good advice - advice she should listen to, and she wouldn't have any of it. I like her, but I don't take her too seriously and I don't think anyone else should either. She's a satirist, like Bill Maher for the left.

Republicans have been in power now for eight years and the Democrats did nothing but scream and yell about what a terrible job they were doing. Now that the Democrats are in power, they're going to have to get used to hearing that same screaming and yelling from the Republicans - it's just the way politics works =)
But your loved one will have to have
but a government-run facility. Have you ever tried to help someone with a mental illness get insurance? Especially someone who is the catch-22 of can't get insurance without a job--can't get a job without medication/treatment--can't get medication/treatment without insurance--thank you for calling social services; we currently have no openings in our treatment programs and our prescription assistance service ran out of funding for the year in February, but we can put you on the list.
Loved it...LOL...nm

HAHAHAHA - loved it!!!!

exactly where is it that i said i loved hillary?
'bout time, too.
I loved your post
I don't want anyone taking my money or my DH's money that we have worked hard for and giving it to someone who sits around all day waiting for the mailman to bring them a check. You certainly don't hear much about welfare reform anymore. Just about how every one needs to be treated the same.
That's okay, I'm sure O has a pill for her....he loved
//
I loved reading that
I still don't understand why Obama singled out Pennsylvanians with those statements. Does anybody know why who follows this stuff "religiously" (dare I use the word)?
I loved this.....thanks for the laugh....sm
Do you suppose it would really work for any of us in this day and age????.........lolol.........
Loved the quotes
I love history (love the history channel when they have specials on historical figures) and reading about the great men who worked hard to make this country free. These are all great quotes. Unfortunately in today's day and age there are so many lawyers they have turned everything around and they are destroying (or trying to destroy) what the country was founded on and make it into what they want it to be today, and too many people just don't care about the men in our history (just don't take away their American Idol and Survivor shows. HA HA)

It is so insulting that people are trying to destroy what made this country great and free!

I also saw your message above about the thanks for defending the country. I came from a family of military people (dad and grandpa in navy, uncle in marines, another uncle in the air force, and his son (my cousin) in the marines). I believed in our country (Reagan was president) and still do. I am a patriot to the country - not to a person. If I didn't like our country I would leave and move to another country, but I happen to like this one and it has nothing to do with who the president is. If McCain had been elected I wouldn't love the country any less.

But I do love Jefferson, Adams, Washington, Franklin and all those other great men who fought and risked everything. They had such wisdom, knowledge, and courage. And now look at the modern day politicians. I'm sure the founding fathers are turning over right now.
I loved and supported
my sister through surgery. It didn't mean we were married. You can love and support anyone. It doesn't make a marriage. A man and a woman who love and support each other and have sexual intercourse to try and conceive or not is what makes a marriage. It's a simple concept that has worked over the centuries and it will continue regardless of homo judges and whining, crying abnormal mental cases who are confused about their sexuality.
just to say loved your reply...GREAT!

Believe it or not some people who have lost loved ones
do feel that the losses were worth it.  I know it's hard to fathom.  I know their grief has got to be almost unbearable, but they, like their loved ones who enlisted knew what the consequences of signing up for military service might be.  How do you explain those who enlisted right after 9/11 and are enlisting even now?  A personal friend of mine is leaving for Marine boot camp in two weeks. Something  beyond human reasoning compelled them to enlist.  It's called patriotism and the willingness to defend the freedom this country was founded on and spread that freedom throughout the world.
Loved this post! Couldn't have said it better
What a great post. Wish I could write so well.
Thank you for this post - loved it and to the point.
As a Deist myself I find you are right on!

I am so tired of arguing with the closed minded religious nutbags (my sister who newly turned mormon is the worst to talk to - she is so closed minded). The christians always have an answer for everything and they won't listen to the truth.

They also haven't researched who our founding fathers were and what they went through because of what they believed. I think Thomas Paine probably got it the worst. They were the most brilliant men in our history and I'm sure they are rolling over in their grave everytime they hear someone saying our founding fathers were christians or the country was founded on Christianity. Reminds me of when I was watching the O'Reilly factor (who is catholic) and he was trying to tell some Jewish guy that Catholics invented marriage. Luckily the Jewish guest called him on it.

You are absolutely right on - they were NOT christians. They were Deists. Beleiving in a creator does not make one a christian.

Thanks for the post!
LOVED the tick comparison!
sucking every last drop of blood out of us little guys who are little more to them than just cogs in the wheel.
I loved him in Young Riders
He's a good actor (he can play some real creepy characters). Not sure about his political viewpoints because I'm not very conservative.
loved it!!! how glorious -- she adores him

it was truly magical -- made me cry... so full of hope and happiness right now.  proud to be an American...IMHO

Loved the article. I had made some of the same predictions he did! nm

Loved your post farther down on the board...
....the post about religions, etc. It's what I'd been thinking but much more eloquent and better researched.
Actually I think Queen Elizabeth loved the Corgis...
and Princess Anne loved the horses. However...I don't believe Princess Anne barrel raced and my Corgis are not nearly as fat as the Queen's. lol. No royalty here.

Have a good evening as well.
Loved the "TV guide" version
Thanks for the countdown to Hillary's speech. Put some comedy into this which is what is needed. I also loved the other post that said a whole Xanax affords you a 2-hour nap. I'm gonna have to get me some of that.

I have learned a few things during this "race". Hillary is driven by power and greed and she won't stop at anything. I've never liked her. Well actually I used to like her when she and Bill were campaigning before he was elected the first time, and I liked her for about a month after she became first lady. Then her true self started to come out and DH and I would be mystified saying, wait a minute...this is not the same lady. I also heard that whenever they hosted dinners at the white house they would tell everyone to be there at a certain time and then they would purposely wait one hour and have everyone gather at the bottom of the steps so they could make their grand entrance for everyone to watch. They seemed to forget they were living in America and the were the president and first lady, not living in England being the King and Queen. So looks like her attitude hasn't changed much. Hillary has always been after uniting the world into a one-world government (or at least Mexico, US & Canada being one country) with her being the leader. Nothing less. I never expected her to end her campaign. After all you never know when such tragedy will hit and she needs to be standing there ready to sleeze in. In the beginning I listened to her because I wanted to know what her plans were if she were to be elected, and it seemed to be more of the same socialist programs she has been trying to pass since being first lady. So I have learned the best way to avoid the stress of listening to her drone on is to hit the mute button as soon as her face "graces" my TV. Now I'm pretty good and can usually hit the channel changer first before a sound from her is even uttered.

Anyway...loved your post. and yes, grilled peach salad doesn't sound too good.
Loved it!!!!- great way to start the day - with a laugh. (nm)

Down the drain?  Beware of Obama's plan to 'spread the wealth around'

By Betsy Newmark
High School History and Government Teacher/Blogger

If the McCain campaign can’t use this Obama quote to raise doubts about his attitude towards wealth and success, then they deserve the shellacking they seem headed for.

“Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed “more and more for fulfilling the American dream.”

“It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too,” Obama responded. “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Plumbers of the country, unite! Forget about the work and effort you put into building up a business or the scummy work that you do that many of us don’t know or don’t want to do. If you have succeeded, you should be willing to give up more of what you earn to help those who haven’t had the great good luck that you have had to be a successful plumber. Remember how Obama is going to give 95% of all of us a tax cut even though over 30% of the population doesn’t pay taxes?

He might call it a tax credit, but what he’s really doing is his vision of “spreading the wealth around.” It sounds a lot like Huey Long’s 1935 plan to “Share the Wealth.” And when he finds that he can’t tax the top 5% of the population to gain enough wealth to spread to the 95% of the rest of us, do you really think that he’ll stop with that 5%?

Remember…This is the guy who said in the ABC debate during the primary season that his approach to raising tax on capital gains is not based on whether it would provide more revenue but on his idea of what is fair:

GIBSON: All right. You have, however, said you would favor an increase in the capital gains tax. As a matter of fact, you said on CNBC, and I quote, “I certainly would not go above what existed under Bill Clinton,” which was 28 percent. It’s now 15 percent. That’s almost a doubling, if you went to 28 percent.

But actually, Bill Clinton, in 1997, signed legislation that dropped the capital gains tax to 20 percent.

OBAMA: Right.

GIBSON: And George Bush has taken it down to 15 percent.

OBAMA: Right.

GIBSON: And in each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down.

So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected?

OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I’ve said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.

Just what we need in these fragile economic times — a guy who wants to raise taxes because he thinks it’s a matter of “fairness” and time to “spread the wealth around.”

That will be some incentive for other plumbers who want to work hard and build up a successful business.

But don’t worry - according to Joe Biden, it’s the patriotic thing to do.

Haha! I thought I was the only one who thought he looked

When you consider how much these guys

Dubai company set to run U.S. ports has ties to administration

BY MICHAEL MCAULIFF
New York Daily News

WASHINGTON - The Dubai firm that won Bush administration backing to run six U.S. ports has at least two ties to the White House.

One is Treasury Secretary John Snow, whose department heads the federal panel that signed off on the $6.8 billion sale of an English company to government-owned Dubai Ports World - giving it control of Manhattan's cruise ship terminal and Newark's container port.

Snow was chairman of the CSX rail firm that sold its own international port operations to DP World for $1.15 billion in 2004, the year after Snow left for President Bush's cabinet.

The other connection is David Sanborn, who runs DP World's European and Latin American operations and who was tapped by Bush last month to head the U.S. Maritime Administration.

The ties raised more concerns about the decision to give port control to a company owned by a nation linked to the Sept. 11 hijackers.

The more you look at this deal, the more the deal is called into question, said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., who said the deal was rubber-stamped in advance - even before DP World formally agreed to buy London's P&O port company.

Besides operations in New York and Jersey, Dubai would also run port facilities in Philadelphia, New Orleans, Baltimore and Miami.

The political fallout over the deal only grows.

It's particularly troubling that the United States would turn over its port security not only to a foreign company, but a state-owned one, said western New York's Rep. Tom Reynolds, chairman of the National Republican Campaign Committee. Reynolds is responsible for helping Republicans keep their majority in the House.

Snow's Treasury Department runs the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S., which includes 11 other agencies.

It always raises flags when administration officials have ties to a firm, Rep. Vito Fossella, R-N.Y., said, but insisted that stopping the deal was more important.

The New York Daily News has learned that lawmakers also want to know if a detailed 45-day investigation should have been conducted instead of one that lasted no more than 25 days.

According to a 1993 congressional measure, the longer review is mandated when the company is owned by a foreign government and the purchase could result in control of a person engaged in interstate commerce in the U.S. that could affect the national security of the U.S.

Congressional sources said the president has until March 2 to trigger that closer look.

The most important thing is for someone to explain how this is consistent with our national security, Fossella said.

you guys
First, there are no terrorists and we are just fighting a senseless war. Then no one is to be trusted!  LOL!  Cracks me up.
I think that 19 guys getting
on planes and crashing them into buildings were pretty freakin' emboldened to begin with. Whatever is making them more bold (and I would debate that - I don't think they could get more bold) it is not a bunch of lefties carrying signs. I think they are as bold as bold gets right now without any help from us and they are splintering more and more...soldiers of God, sounds like Jim Jones.
after what you guys have done to her....
take two. Don't forget the mouth. :)
So, sm, what about those guys in
Neery a peep?
What about these guys? (sm)

  • Republican sex offender and former North Country assemblyman and current state Parole Board member, George "Chris" Ortloff, 61, was arrested on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 on federal charges that he used the Internet to solicit sex with minors. He was arrested following a sting operation at a Colonie motel and had allegedly arranged for a date with a minor he met on the Internet. '' The New York Post reports that he had child pornography and sex paraphernalia in his possession when he was arrested. State Police reportedly searched Ortloff'''s home in Plattsburgh and a computer had been seized from his Lake Placid real estate office, officials said. Ortloff, married with two sons, retired from the Assembly in 2006 having represented the 110 th District. '' He was appointed to the part-time position on the Parole Board, a six year term which expires in 2012, a position paying him $102,000 a year.

    • Republican sex offender & Missouri State Rep. Scott Muschany, (R)-Frontenac, was indicted today, Aug 6, 2008, in connection with a reported sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on May 17, the day after this year’s Legislative session ended. The alleged victim is the daughter of a state employee. The girl’s mother and Muschany, a married father of 2 children, were romantically involved, the woman said. (Aren't "Family Values" a wonderful thing?) In a morbid twist of irony, Muschany was a co-sponsor of legislation that toughened sex offender laws in 2006. According to his legislative biography, Muschany and his wife were licensed as foster parents with the Division of Family Services.

      • Republican sex offender & longtime stalwart Republican operative Peter Hong was arrested July 23, 2008 for solicitation of prostitution. Police spokesman Peter Panos said that the arrest came during the first day of a two-day sting operation during which "johns" and prostitutes responded to ads placed on the Internet and in print. Thirty-five people were arrested Wednesday and Thursday, Panos said today.

        • Republican sex offender & candidate for Mineral County (W.Va.) Commission Wilton Frederick Bland, 30, of Bayberry Place, was arrested March 23, 2007, after police received a complaint concerning a juvenile boy who said Bland had wanted him to appear nude on the Internet. Bland charged last year with 136 counts related to sexually based crimes against children has been sentenced to a possible total of 85 years after pleading guilty in both Grant and Mineral counties. was charged at the time with 73 counts of possession of child pornography, 45 counts of sexual assault in the first degree for allegedly having sex with a child under age 11, nine counts of use of obscene matter with intent to seduce a minor, seven counts of display of obscene matter to a minor and two counts of employing a minor to do sexually explicit conduct, according to the West Virginia State Police.

          • Republican Delegate Robert McKee, known as an advocate for children's rights, is the focus of a child pornography investigation after officers searched his Hagerstown, MD home. McKee is not facing any charges right now, but as of today, Feb 15, 2008, he has resigned his position as both a state delegate and as executive director of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Club of Washington County. In a statement, McKee said he is entering treatment to, "get well and stay well." Shock waves echoed through Hagerstown, as the news that he was being investigated for child pornography spread like wildfire.
**We will be keeping an eye on this story for further developments**

            • Republican sex offender & Department of Children & Families press secretary AL Zimmerman, 40, was arrested Friday, Feb 1, 2008 and charged with eight felony charges of using a child in a sexual performance. According to an arrest report, Zimmerman offered two teens money in exchange for photographing them in sexual acts. The victims were ages 16 and 17 at the time of the crime, and at least one may have been in the care of DCF at one point, according to the report. Authorities believe some of the images date back to December 2005, the arrest report showed. Zimmerman is suspected of taking photos as recently as Friday, the report showed.

              • The Republican Mayor, who is also the Pastor of the Temple Lot Church in Collins Missouri, a town in St. Clair County, is accused of trying to convince someone whom he thought was a teenage girl to meet him for sex. Diamond police say Allen D Kauffman is charged in Newton County with four counts of enticement of a child after an online investigation that began in mid-November.
Diamond Police Detective Jim Murray says he posed as a 13-year-old girl named Cindy and was approached by a man who used the screen name duke dukeadk on Nov. 15 about noon in an online chat room.
Murray says Kauffman discussed meeting her to take nude photos and to have sex. Over the course of seven conversations during the past two months, transcripts show each chat was sexually graphic. Murray say Kauffman recognized the girl’s age, and even showed some hesitation, teasing the girl about whether she could be a cop.
Police say Kauffman repeatedly asked the girl to use a webcam, and didn't wait long to use his. The detective saved some photos from a webcam on Kauffman's computer in his home in Collins.

                • Republican Party Chairman Donald Fleischman, 37, of Allouez, Wisconsin was charged last month with two counts of child enticement, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child and a single charge of exposing himself to a child for allegedly fondling a 16-year-old Ethan House runaway and providing the boy with beer and marijuana late last year.

                  • Republican U.S. Justice Department official John David R. Atchison, 53, an assistant U.S. attorney from the northern district of Florida, has been arrested on suspicion of traveling to Detroit over the weekend to have sex with a 5 year old child. An undercover officer posed as a mother offering her child to Atchison for sex, according to police. In deposition, detectives said Atchison suggested the mother tell her daughter that "you found her a sweet boyfriend who will bring her presents." The undercover detective expressed concern about physical injury to the 5-year-old girl as a result of the sexual activity. Detectives said Atchison responded, " I am always gentle and loving; not to worry, no damage ever, no rough stuff ever. I only like it soft and nice." The undercover detective asked how Atchison can be certain of no injury. He responded, "Just gotta go slow and very easy. I've done it plenty," according to detectives.
**UPDATE: John Atchison has killed himself. Detroit police confirmed Atchison's suicide death at 10:14 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2007. Good riddance, scumbag!

                      • Republican Homeland Security deputy press secretary Brian J. Doyle , 55, was arrested Tuesday night, April 4, 2006 and charged with trying to "seduce'' a 14-year-old Polk County girl with graphic talk over the Internet. On March 12, Doyle contacted a 14-year-old girl whose profile was posted on an AOL Web site, according to the Sheriff's Office release. Initially, detectives thought Doyle was posing as someone working for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. But they soon learned otherwise when he sent a picture to the girl over the Internet wearing an official ``DHS tag'', Judd said.
