The outcomes of some states are so close to being certain that some pollsters are not even polling them; i.e. California, Texas, and New York. As a result, we have had to update our electoral college predictions to include those "safe" Obama and "safe" McCain states in the case that a pollsters does not poll the state.

Here is what our table looked like before.

Method Obama McCain
Survey USA 166 278
Rasmussen Reports 228 259
Quinnipiac 131 51
CNN 121 59
American Research Group 86 203
Insider Advantage 16 112
Research 2000 42 95
Zogby 335 131

And here's our new and improved table.

Method McCain Obama
Survey USA 281 236
Rasmussen Reports 266 238
Insider Advantage 225 149
American Research Group 214 156
CNN 172 254
Quinnipiac 164 233
Zogby 157 349
Research 2000 142 175

Survey USA is the only pollster that predicts John McCain a winner and Zogby Interactive is the only pollster to have Obama ahead. As for the other six pollsters, the race is too close to call.

The "safe" Democrats states are: California, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Vermont, and D.C.

The "safe" Republican states are: Texas, Tennessee, Arizona, South Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Nebraska, Utah, Idaho, Alaska, and Wyoming.
